The present invention relates, among other things, to a waste container (10) with a waste container body (11) that defines a storage space (13) for receiving waste, the waste container body (11) comprising a container bottom (11a), a side wall (11b) protruding from the container bottom (11a), an upper container edge (11c) which delimits a filling opening (12), and an engagement device (14) for a lifting device (30) which extends at least partially outside the waste container body (11), with at least one partition wall (15) arranged within the storage space (13) in the waste container (10), and a centring element (20) provided in such a way that it is capable of centring the position of the partition wall (15) in relation to the lifting device (30). In addition, the centring element (20) is arranged for providing position information data (47) concerning the position of a partition wall (15) within the storage space (13) of the waste container body (11). For that the centring element (20) comprises a generation device (27a, 28a) which is configured to generate position information data (47) and / or a storage device (28c) which is configured to store position information data (47), as well as a provision device (27b, 28b) which is designed to provide the position information data (47) for an emptying operation of the waste container (10). This means that, in particular during automated emptying of a waste container, the actual position of the partition wall is always taken into account for the emptying operation.
