AI Technical Summary
Existing vacuum cleaner collection bags struggle to effectively vacuum and store both dry and damp foliage, with damp material often accumulating near the inlet opening and reducing the effective use of the receiving space.
The collection bag design features an inlet opening on one edge, an outlet opening on the opposite edge, with the outlet located in the side wall between the two, and a fabric mesh with higher air permeability to allow airflow while retaining collected material. The outlet opening is closer to the emptying opening, and the bag is designed to widen towards the discharge opening for efficient filling.
This design enables high filling capacity and extended operating times, ensuring effective vacuuming and storage of both dry and damp foliage by uniformly distributing airflow and preventing accumulation near the inlet.

Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Collection bag for a vacuum cleaner
[0001] The present invention relates to a collection bag for use with a vacuum cleaner for vacuuming a product to be collected, such as leaves, dirt, or the like. The collection bag for receiving the product to be collected is formed by a fabric panel that creates an internal receiving space, which is limited by the outer edges of the collection bag. The fabric panel is at least partially permeable to air so that the carrier airflow flowing with the product to be collected into the receiving space can escape. For the entry of the carrier airflow with the product to be collected, the collection bag has an inlet opening, in which the collection bag has an outlet opening for the at least partial diversion of the carrier airflow into the environment. The collected product, gathered in the collection bag, is emptied through a resealable emptying opening.
[0002] The reception of the product to be collected depends, among other things, on its degree of dryness. Dry foliage can be easily vacuumed, whereas damp foliage is difficult to vacuum. The vacuum cleaner operates at a constant power level, which is why it is designed so that damp foliage can also be effectively vacuumed. The placement of the product to be collected in the receiving area also depends heavily on its moisture content. Damp material often settles near the inlet opening and accumulates there, which often prevents efficient use of the receiving area's volume, particularly for damp foliage.
[0003] The present invention aims to produce the collection bag for a vacuum cleaner in such a way that the product to be collected, wet as well as dry, can be effectively vacuumed up and stored with a high degree of fullness in the receiving space.
[0004] The objective is achieved by a specific design of the collection bag. The inlet opening into the receiving space is provided on one edge of the collection bag, while the outlet opening is located on the opposite edge. The first and second edges of the collection bag face each other at a distance and are connected by longitudinal edges of the bag. The outlet opening for at least partial diversion of the portable airflow is located in a side wall of the collection bag. The spatial arrangement of the outlet opening is provided in the side wall between the outlet opening and the inlet opening.
[0005] The arrangement of the outlet opening according to the invention makes it possible to achieve a high degree of filling of the receiving space regardless of the product to be collected. The system is designed so that, with the collection bag according to the invention, long operating times are possible until emptying is necessary. Filling of the collection bag begins in the area of the closed emptying opening and continues with a progressively increasing operating time towards the inlet opening. Effective use of the receiving area is thus ensured.
[0006] In an improvement to the invention, the outlet opening is provided to have a surface area corresponding to 10% to 20% of the surface area of the side wall of the collection bag. In particular, a design for the surface area of the outlet opening with 15% of the surface area of the side wall is advantageous.
[0007] If the collection bag is divided into two halves by an imaginary median plane, the arrangement of the outlet opening is such that the outlet opening is located in one half of the collection bag and the inlet opening in the other half. Advantageously, the outlet opening is located closer to the emptying opening of the collection bag than to the inlet opening.
[0008] In the side wall of the collection bag, the outlet opening is formed by a fabric mesh held in place within the side wall of the bag. The fabric mesh has a weave that ensures, on the one hand, retention of the coarse material to be collected and, on the other hand, allows air to pass through with low flow resistance. The fabric mesh of the outlet opening has a higher air permeability, in particular several times higher, than the air permeability of the fabric of the collection bag. The air permeability of the fabric mesh is 20 to 200 times greater than the air permeability of the fabric.
[0009] In an improvement of the invention, a closing element is associated with the outlet opening, which completely closes the outlet opening in a closed position. In particular, the closing element seals the outlet opening airtight in the closed position.
[0010] Advantageously, the closure element is provided as a closure flap, which covers the surface and, in particular, completely, the mesh of the outlet opening. The closure flap covering the outlet opening is attached, preferably sewn along a large part of its periphery, to the side wall of the collection bag. An unattached peripheral section of the closure flap forms an exhaust opening. The exhaust opening is advantageously oriented towards a longitudinal edge of the collection bag. The exhaust opening can be suitably closed with a closure tab. Advantageously, the closure tab is attached to the side wall of the collection bag.
[0011] In a particular configuration of the invention which, in position alone, also represents an independent invention, the opening edge limiting the opening The exhaust opening of the closing element is reinforced with a flat bar. The flat bar is divided lengthwise into at least two separate segments. This design of the opening edge results in, on the one hand, a stable opening of the exhaust vent for an outgoing airflow and, on the other hand, a mechanically fixed closure of the rigidified opening edge.
[0012] In another configuration of the invention, which in its sole position also represents an independent invention, at least one edge of the discharge opening is reinforced by a flat bar. The discharge opening extends over the entire height of the edge of the collection bag. The flat bar is adapted to have the same length as the edge of the discharge opening, wherein the flat bar is divided longitudinally into at least two separate segments. Thus, the open position can be reinforced when the discharge opening is open. To close the discharge opening, the reinforced edge of the discharge opening is folded at least once and secured in this folded position. The flat bar stabilizes the closed state of the discharge opening.
[0013] The essential shape of the collection bag is designed so that, viewed from the side, it has a substantially rectangular shape with first and second edges formed on the short sides and longitudinal edges formed on the long sides. The distance between the inlet opening in the first edge and the outlet opening in the second edge is thus greater, in particular several times greater, than the distance between the two longitudinal edges.
[0014] For a high degree of filling, the collection bag is designed to widen from the edge with the inlet opening towards the edge with the discharge opening. This allows the aspirated product to accumulate in the area of the discharge opening.
[0015] To further increase the effective filling of the collection space, the inlet opening in the first edge is extended by an internal channel section leading into the collection bag of predetermined length. Appropriately, the channel section widens in the direction of flow from the inlet opening into the collection space. In particular, the internal channel section adjacent to the inlet opening acts as a diffuser into the collection space. This results in a distribution of the carrier airflow entering the collection space, with the consequence that the product to be collected is uniformly deposited within the collection space. The degree of filling of the collection space during operation is thus improved.
[0016] Other features of the invention will become apparent from the other claims, the description, and the drawings. The features disclosed in the claims, the description, and the drawings can be combined with each other without departing from the basic idea. of the invention. In particular, the disclosed features can be combined in any way independently of the references in the claims. An example of an embodiment of the invention, described in detail below, is shown in the drawings, the figures of which depict:
[0017] [Fig. 1] a schematic side view of a collection bag according to the invention made of an air-permeable fabric,
[0018] [Fig.2] a schematic representation of the collection bag according to the invention with a closed outlet opening and a closed emptying opening,
[0019] [Fig.3] a schematic representation of the outlet opening provided in the side wall of the collection bag with an open exhaust opening,
[0020] the [Fig.4] schematic representation a view of the open drain opening.
[0021] In [Fig. 1], a collection bag 1 according to the invention is schematically shown in side view. The collection bag 1, consisting in particular of an air-permeable fabric 2, has a basic rectangular shape. The shorter sides of the basic rectangular shape form a first edge 12 and a second edge 14 which face each other at a distance. The first edge 12 and the opposing second edge 14 are connected to each other by means of longitudinal edges 11 and 13. The longitudinal edges 11 and 13 both form the longitudinal edges of the basic rectangular shape. The edges 12 and 14 and the longitudinal edges 11 and 13 define the receiving space 5 located in the collection bag 1.
[0022] The inlet opening 3 for a carrier airflow 6 is located on the first edge 12. The blower tube of a vacuum cleaner, not shown in detail, is connected to the inlet opening 3. As shown in [Fig. 1], the inlet opening 3 is arranged near the upper longitudinal edge 11. In the embodiment shown, the inlet opening 3 is located in the corner between the upper longitudinal edge 11 and the first edge 12. The inlet opening 3 has a diameter D that is approximately 20 to 30% of the height A of the first edge 12. Advantageously, the diameter D corresponds to 25% of the height A of the first edge 12.
[0023] The discharge opening 4 is made in the opposite second edge 14. As shown in [Fig. 1], the discharge opening 4 extends over the entire height B of the second edge 14. It is also apparent from [Fig. 1] that the height A of the first edge 12 is less than the height B of the second edge 14. From the first edge 12, the collection bag 1 widens in the direction of the second edge 14 with the discharge opening 4.
[0024] An outlet opening 10 is provided in the side wall 7 of the collection bag 1. The outlet opening 10 serves to divert at least part of the carrier airflow 6 into partial flows 8. The partial diversion of the carrier airflow 8 through the outlet opening 10 is shown in [Fig. 1] with partial flows 8. The sum of the partial flows 8 is less than the carrier airflow 6.
[0025] The outlet opening 10 is located between the discharge opening 4 and the inlet opening 3. If the collection bag 1, between its first edge 12 and its second edge 14, is divided by an imaginary median plane 9 into two halves I and II, the outlet opening 10 is located in one half II of the collection bag 1 and the inlet opening 4 in the other half I of the collection bag 1. Advantageously, the outlet opening 10 is located closer to the discharge opening 4 than to the inlet opening 3 of the collection bag 1.
[0026] The outlet opening 10 has a size that corresponds to approximately 10% to 20% of the entire surface area of the side wall 7 of the collection bag 1. Advantageously, the outlet opening 10 forms approximately 14% of the entire surface area of the side wall 2.
[0027] As shown in [Fig. 1], the outlet opening 10 has a slightly trapezoidal basic shape located at a distance x from the upper longitudinal edge 11. The basic shape widens towards the lower longitudinal edge 13, the base of which is located at a distance y from the lower longitudinal edge 13. The height H, parallel to the edges 12 and 14 of the outlet opening 10, is approximately 60% to 80% of the height B of the collection bag 1 on the second edge 14, and in particular 70% of the height B of the collection bag 1 on the second edge 14. The maximum width z of the outlet opening is approximately 20% to 30% of the length L of the collection bag 1, preferably 25% of the length L of the collection bag 1. The length L of the collection bag 1 corresponds to the distance between the first edge 12 and the second edge 14.
[0028] The outlet opening 10 is formed by a fabric mesh 17 which is held in the side wall 7 of the collection bag 1. In a particular configuration of the outlet opening 10, a closure element 21 is associated with the outlet opening 10, which closes completely, in particular closes the outlet opening 10 airtight in a closed position.
[0029] As schematically represented in [Fig. 1], the closure element 21 consists of a closure fabric 22 which covers the surface of the fabric net 17. In the embodiment shown, the closure fabric 22 is fixed, in particular sewn over a large part of its periphery 23 to the side wall 7. The unfixed section of the periphery 23 on the side wall 7 limits an exhaust opening 20. As shown in [Fig. 1], the exhaust opening 20 is located facing the lower longitudinal edge 13 of the collection bag 1. The partial streams 8 exiting the exhaust opening 20 of the carrier air stream 6 are thus directed towards the ground or a corresponding floor covering.
[0030] The exhaust opening 20 has an opening edge 24 which can be covered by a closing tab 25 in order to close the opening exhaust 20. The closing tab 25 is advantageously fixed to the side wall 7 of the collection bag 1 below the exhaust opening 20. Suitablely, the closing tab 25 has an eyelet, loop or similar which can be fixed in the closed position to a hook 26 of the closing element 21. By the same means, the closed position of the exhaust opening 20 is fixed.
[0031] In order to stabilize the opening position of the exhaust vent 20 and to ensure a secure closing position of the exhaust vent 20, the opening edge 24, which limits the exhaust vent 20 of the closing element 21, is reinforced, in the example of the closing screen 22, by a flat bar 27. The flat bar 27 extends over the entire width z of the exhaust vent 20. In the longitudinal direction, the flat bar 27 is advantageously divided into two segments 27a, 27b, separate from each other. The idea of reinforcing the opening edge 24 with a flat bar 27 divided into segments 27a, 27b is also expressly disclosed as an independent idea of the invention.
[0032] The independent idea of the invention of reinforcing the edge of an opening by means of a divided flat bar is particularly advantageous for the drain opening 4. As shown in [Fig. 1], the edge of the opening 18 is reinforced by a divided flat bar 19 along the height B of the drain opening 4. The flat bar 19 has segments 19a, 19b, 19c, and 19d separated from each other in its longitudinal direction. The segments 19a, 19b, 19c, and 19d can be of different lengths. In the embodiment shown, the middle segments 19b and 19c are longer than the outer segments 19a and 19d. Advantageously, the middle segments 19b and 19c are of the same length. In [Fig.1], an opening edge 18 is reinforced by a flat bar 19. It may be advantageous to reinforce the opposite opening edges of the drain opening 4 respectively with a segmented flat bar 19.
[0033] The collection bag 1 has a closure section 16 which is adjacent to the second edge 14 and is folded to close the discharge opening 4. For this purpose, the opening edge 18, reinforced by the divided flat bar 19, is folded, thus forming a first closure fold. The width, measured in the longitudinal direction of the collection bag 1, of the closure section 16 is designed so that the closure section 16 is folded by a triple fold and can be fixed in its closed position by an eyelet, loop, or similar hook 15 of the collection bag 1. In this way, the closed position of the discharge opening 4 is fixed.
[0034] In the embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], it is further provided that the extension the inlet opening 3 by an internal channel section 30 opening into the receiving space 5 of the collection bag 1. The channel section 30 has a channel length K which corresponds to approximately 30% to 40% of the length L of the receiving space 5 made in the collection bag 1. Advantageously, the channel length K corresponds to 35% of the length L of the receiving space 5.
[0035] As shown in [Fig. 1], the channel section 30 widens from the inlet opening 3 to the channel mouth 31 in the receiving space 5. A widening of the channel section 30 from the inlet opening 3 to the channel mouth 31 of 10% to 20%, particularly 15%, is advantageous. The embodiment is advantageously adopted such that the inner channel section 30 adjacent to the inlet opening 3 opens as a diffuser into the receiving space 5 of the collection bag L
[0036] Advantageously, the collection bag 1 has a carrying loop 40 attached to the upper longitudinal edge 11 for attaching a carrying strap 41 ([Fig. 2]). The carrying loop 40 is located in particular in the middle above the outlet opening 10. In addition, a reinforcing strip 42 can be sewn into the area of the upper longitudinal edge 11, which may also suitably include a carrying loop.
[0037] In [Fig. 2], the collection bag 1 is shown with its inlet opening 3 and the discharge opening 4 closed by rolling. Loops 28 fixed to the rear side of the collection bag 1 are locked into the hooks 15 of the collection bag 1, which makes it possible to fix the closed position of the discharge opening 4.
[0038] In the representation according to [Fig. 2], the outlet opening 10 is also shown in the closed position. The closing tab covers the exhaust opening 20, in which a loop 29 of the closing tab 25 is hooked to the hook 26 of the closing cloth 22 and fixes the closed position of the exhaust opening 20.
[0039] In [Fig. 3], the exhaust opening 20 of the outlet opening 10 is shown in the open position. Appropriately, the hook 26 fixed to the closing cloth 22 can be attached to a fastening strap 45 in the open position. As further shown in Figures 1 and 3, the division of the flat bar 27 is located in the area of the hook 26. A tensile force on the hook 26 thus causes the opening edge 24 to "fold".
[0040] The open drain opening 4 is shown in [Fig. 4]. Both the opening edge 18' and the opening edge 18 are reinforced by a segmented flat bar 19. The drain opening 4 maintains a stable open position due to the individual segments.
