Description

Title of the invention: ANTI-THEFT DEVICE FOR TOOLS EQUIPPED WITH A SHANK WITH A FITTING Field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to an anti-theft device for tools having a cylindrical shank with a shank, and more particularly for shank drills.

[0002] Shank drill bits have a cylindrical shank with longitudinal grooves which fit into the chuck of a tool, for example a drill or a hammer drill, and allow for a more secure fixing than conventional drill bits which end up “slipping in the chuck”, especially during heavy work (drilling / percussion on stone).

[0003] These tools are small, easy to conceal and relatively expensive. They are generally distributed in self-service stores. It is therefore advisable to equip them with anti-theft devices to reduce fraud. The particular configuration, cylindrical with a small section, makes traditional anti-theft solutions ineffective. State of the art

[0004] To this end, a solution is known, described in patent FR2530524, proposing a container which comprises a box bottom having a suspension tab (oblong suspension hole), a hinged lid and an anti-theft device to prevent the lid from being raised relative to the bottom in order to prevent the theft of individual drill bits, for example. The anti-theft device consists of at least one screw by which the lid can be pressed against the box bottom.

[0005] Patent US3255928 discloses a tamper-evident closure box for protecting drill bits. The primary object of this prior patent is to provide a closure molded in a single piece of elastically deformable plastic material and in which the closure member remains permanently attached to the wall member after removal of the tamper-evident member. Tamper-evident is provided by a strip joining the closure and wall members together in edge-to-edge relationship but capable of being bent to bring the two members together in face-to-face relationship and permanently couple the two together for opening and closing movement after the member is torn away. Disadvantages of the prior art

[0006] The solutions of the prior art are not satisfactory because they result in significant bulk and are suitable for protecting a range of drills rather than an isolated drill. Solution provided by the invention

[0007] In order to overcome these drawbacks, the present invention relates to an anti-theft device for tools provided with a closed-fitting shank, characterized in that it is constituted by a base crossed by an opening, and by two jaws articulated relative to said base, between an open position allowing the engagement between said jaws of the shank of said tool, and a closed position where said jaws ensure the holding of the shank, at least one of said jaws having a boss of a shape complementary to the cavity located on the shanks with fitting.

[0008] Preferably, one of said jaws comprises a magnetically unlocked lock.

[0009] Advantageously, said jaws are extended by arms.

[0010] According to a particular embodiment, it further comprises a label having an opening for connection with said arms.

[0011] Advantageously, said label has a cutout in its upper part for hanging on a display rod.

[0012] According to a particular embodiment, one of said jaws has a zone for receiving an adaptation part having a personalized boss.

[0013] According to another variant, one of said jaws is extended by a peripheral edge of a height complementary to that of a groove surrounding the other of said jaws.

[0014] Detailed description of a non-limiting example of embodiment

[0015] The present invention will be better understood on reading the following description, concerning a non-limiting example of embodiment illustrated by the appended drawings where:

[0016] [Fig-1] [Fig. 1] represents a perspective view of the tail of a drill bit with an SDS type shank (trade name)

[0017] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] represents a front view of an anti-theft device according to the invention

[0018] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] represents a perspective view of an anti-theft device according to the invention

[0019] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] represents a perspective view of the drill and the anti-theft device during the insertion phase.

[0020] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] represents a perspective view of the drill. Principle of the invention

[0021] The invention relates to the protection of shank tools having on the rear segment of a smooth cylindrical shank (10) grooves (11, 12) at least some of which are closed at the rear by a peripheral edge (13) to form an oblong cavity.

[0022] The anti-theft device, an example of which is illustrated by figures 2 to 5 consists of two jaws (21, 22) joined by a hinge (20). They can be locked by a nail system comprising, for example, a retractable button (25) extended by a locking rod engaging, in the closed position, in a ball mechanism (35) the opening of which can be controlled by the approach of an unlocker comprising a magnet attracting the metal balls to release the rod. This locking method is well known to those skilled in the art, for example by the applicant's patent EP3014038B1.

[0023] The hinge (20) is formed on a transverse base (23) having an opening (24) into which a drill bit can be inserted. This opening opens onto a cylindrical channel having ribs (31, 32) diametrically opposite and extending longitudinally with respect to this cylindrical channel, to ensure the guidance of the open grooves (11) of the shank (10) of a drill bit to be protected.

[0024] The tail (10) is introduced between two jaws (21, 22) of the anti-theft device articulated relative to this base (20) having an opening (24). The jaws (21, 22) can open to allow the tail (10) of the article to be protected to pass through, then fold back against each other to wedge the tail (10) of the drill between them.

[0025] The surfaces of the jaws have at least one complementary boss (36) of the cavity (11) of the drill, to allow this boss to be engaged in the closed groove (12) of the shank (10) when the two jaws (21, 22) are folded down on each other.

[0026] One of the jaws (21) has a peripheral annular edge (33) of a height complementary to a peripheral groove (34) provided on the opposite jaw (22) so that the forceful separation of the jaws (21, 22) by the introduction of a blade between the two jaws (21, 22) is made impossible.

[0027] Optionally, the jaw (22) has a cavity for receiving an adapter part of complementary section and having a boss (36) adapted to a specific family of drill, with a shape, length and depth of the boss (36) determined according to the configuration of the closed groove (11) of the drill. It is thus possible to reconfigure the anti-theft device very easily by simply replacing this adapter part (26).

[0028] A magnetically deactivatable locking system (25) keeps the two jaws (21, 22) clamped against each other, until an authorized operator releases the lock, in a manner known for magnetic unlocking anti-theft systems.

[0029] The jaws (21, 22) are extended on the side opposite the base (23) by two arms (27, 28). One of the arms (28) has a folded end (29) coming into contact with the surface of the other arm (27) when the two jaws (21, 22) are folded down on each other.

[0030] These arms (27, 28) allow a label (30) to be hung having a light (31) into which the folded end of the arm (28) engages.

[0031] The label (30) has at its upper end a cutout (33) for hanging on a display rod.

[0032] To protect a tool, it is inserted into the upper body by pushing it until it reaches the stop and the label (30) is fitted onto the upper part as shown in [Fig.3]. The two jaws (21, 22) are then folded down and the retractable nail button (25) is pushed to lock the device. The rear arms (27, 28) secure the label (30) when the device is closed.

[0033] The drill is guided during its introduction into the opening (24) by lateral ribs (31, 32) complementary to the open cavities (12) allowing a positioning error of the cavity (11).

[0034] The drill bit is held in the anti-theft device by the engagement of the boss formed on the surface of the jaw, which engages in the complementary cavity (11) and immobilizes the drill bit relative to the jaws (21, 22).
