Description

Title of the invention: BASIN PLAN WITH REMOTE DRAINAGE

[0001] The invention relates to washbasin tops. In particular, the invention relates to a washbasin top with a remote drain.

[0002] Known from the prior art illustrated in [Fig.l] is a washbasin 1, the part 2 of which forms the washbasin or basin itself.

[0003] Behind the basin 2, the washbasin 1 of the prior art has an orifice 4 intended to receive a tap for supplying water to the basin 2.

[0004] Generally, this orifice 4 is located between the basin 2 and the rear edge 110 of the washbasin 1.

[0005] The rear edge 110 rests against a wall of the room in which the washbasin 1 is placed.

[0006] This installation against a wall is carried out either using fixing brackets, or by placing the washbasin 1 on a suitable piece of furniture 5, also called a “washbasin unit”.

[0007] In order to allow the evacuation of the waste water contained in the basin 2, the latter comprises, in a manner known per se, an evacuation orifice 3 located on a bottom of the basin 2, in an area located at the lowest point of the basin 2 in order to allow the proper evacuation by gravity of the liquid contents of the basin.

[0008] An evacuation system 8 is mounted at this evacuation orifice 3. The evacuation system 8 comprises, in a manner known per se, a plug and a siphon.

[0009] As a result, storage space is lost in the case of installation on a piece of furniture 5 which, in the case of the presence of drawers 6, 6', requires the provision of a "U" shaped cutout 7 from a rear wall of the highest drawer 6, i.e. the one which is just under the washbasin top 1.

[0010] As illustrated in [Fig.l], current washbasin units 1 require a large space to be provided under the washbasin to allow the installation of the drainage system 8 which then projects downwards from the bottom of the basin 2.

[0011] In the case of mounting on fixing brackets, the space located under the washbasin is reduced or even blocked for use by a person with reduced mobility, in particular a person in a wheelchair.

[0012] Therefore, to allow the use of a washbasin 1 by a person in a wheelchair or sitting on a stool, the washbasin 1 must be raised by several centimeters, which has the effect of increasing access to the basin 2 and in particular to the taps mounted at the level of the orifice 4.

[0013] This makes the use of the washbasin 1 impractical, uncomfortable and difficult to access.

[0014] The objective of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a washbasin unit which makes it possible to optimally clear the space beneath it and which remains comfortably usable by a seated person.

[0015] To achieve this objective, the invention proposes a washbasin comprising a surface, a basin or basin made of a single material with the surface and a waste water drainage orifice, the washbasin further comprising a recess extending in projection from a rising wall of the basin, the waste water drainage orifice being formed in the recess.

[0016] Thanks to the invention, by thus moving the drainage orifice of the basin, the waste water drainage system from the basin is “rejected” to one side of the basin of the washbasin.

[0017] The space under the basin is thus freed up as much as possible without having to raise the washbasin top for a seated person or a person with reduced mobility in a wheelchair, or to provide a cut-out in the upper drawer of the washbasin unit, and the maximum storage space can be freed up for a washbasin unit with doors.

[0018] Advantageously, but optionally, the basin having a bottom, the bottom extending into the recess.

[0019] Advantageously, but optionally, the recess is located between the basin and a rear edge of the plane of the washbasin.

[0020] Advantageously, but optionally, the washbasin also comprising an orifice for the water distribution tap, the recess is provided laterally to the orifice.

[0021] Advantageously, but optionally, the recess is to the left or right of the opening.

[0022] Advantageously, but optionally, the washbasin top comprises a cover arranged so as to cover the recess in order to ensure the continuity of the top above the recess.

[0023] Advantageously, but optionally, the cover comprises a lateral protrusion arranged so as to partially reform the rising wall at the level of the recess.

[0024] The invention will be further detailed by the description of non-limiting embodiments, and on the basis of the appended figures illustrating variants of the invention, in which: - [Fig.l] illustrates a side sectional view of a prior art washbasin top placed on a vanity unit; - [Fig.2] illustrates a three-dimensional view of a washbasin according to the invention; - [Fig.3] illustrates a top view of the washbasin of [Fig.2]; - [Fig.4] illustrates a three-dimensional view of the washbasin top of [Fig.2] placed on a vanity unit; - [Fig.5] illustrates a side sectional view of the washbasin and the unit below basin of [Fig.4].

[0025] As a preliminary reminder to the description which follows, a vanity top is a sanitary unit intended for a shower room, a bathroom, a toilet or even a kitchen, without this being limiting.

[0026] By definition, a washbasin top is composed of a top in which a basin or sink is integrated, the top and the sink being made of one material with each other.

[0027] We thus obtain a unique assembly allowing for a significant amount of space (plan) around the basin, easy to maintain and avoiding any re-sealing between the basin and the plan.

[0028] A washbasin 10 according to the invention is illustrated in three dimensions in [Fig.2].

[0029] The washbasin 1 according to the invention comprises, in a manner known per se, recalled pre previously, a plan 11 and a basin or bowl 12, the plan 11 and the bowl 12 being made of one material with each other.

[0030] Generally, the basin 12 is positioned in the center of the plane 11. The washbasin plane 11 is limited at the rear by an edge 110 which, when the washbasin plane 1 according to the invention is mounted, comes to bear against a wall of a room in which the washbasin plane 1 according to the invention is located.

[0031] Between the basin and the rear edge, the washbasin 1 according to the invention further comprises an orifice 4 intended to receive a tap for supplying water to the basin 2.

[0032] Generally, the orifice 4 is “centered” on the plane 11 with the basin 12: a center of the orifice 4 is aligned on a perpendicular to the rear edge 11 with a center of an opening section of the basin 2, in top view.

[0033] The basin 12 comprises a bottom 121 and an overflow 124 positioned on a rising part 125 of the basin 2. Here, behind the basin 12, the latter comprises a recess 122 which projects. Here, the recess 124 projects backwards from a rising part 125 at the rear of the basin 12, the bottom 121 extends into the recess 124 and comprises the evacuation orifice 3 for the waste water.

[0034] Thus, the recess 122 is located behind the main part of the basin 12, between the latter and the rear edge 110 of the plane 11. In addition, the recess 122 extends laterally to the orifice 4, here to the right. As a variant, the recess 122 extends laterally to the left of the orifice 4.

[0035] The washbasin 1 according to the invention further comprises a cover 123 intended to cooperate with the recess 122 so as to restore continuity of the plane 11 above the recess 122.

[0036] Here, the cover 123 is flat. In an alternative embodiment, the cover 123 is “L” shaped so as to partially restore the rising part 125 of the basin 12 at the level of the recess 122.

[0037] Thus in this configuration, the recess 122 is covered and hidden from view by the L-shaped cover 123: only a space for the passage of waste water remains provided between the cover 123 and the bottom 121 of the basin 12.

[0038] With reference to figures 4 and 5, we will briefly describe an installation of a washbasin top 1 according to the invention on a vanity unit 5.

[0039] The vanity unit 5 is here a unit comprising two drawers 60 and 60' superimposed and extending under the vanity top 1 according to the invention.

[0040] The washbasin 1 according to the invention is therefore placed here on the unit 5, the rear edge 110 resting on a wall not shown in the figures.

[0041] At the level of the recess 122, an evacuation system 8 is mounted on the evacuation orifice 3 of the washbasin 1 according to the invention.

[0042] Due to the particular configuration of the washbasin 1 according to the invention, the bulky evacuation system 8 is “thrown” backwards, against the wall on which the rear edge 110 rests.

[0043] Thus the first drawer 60 located at the top of the unit 5, just below the washbasin top 1 according to the invention, is whole because it does not have a “U” shaped cutout, unlike the assembly of the washbasin tops of the prior art.

[0044] The space under the bottom 121 of the basin 12 and therefore under the washbasin 1 according to the invention is thus optimized, the volume previously occupied by the evacuation system 8 being recovered.

[0045] Persons with reduced mobility in wheelchairs or persons who have to sit in front of the washbasin 1 according to the invention have space under the basin to position their legs and thus face the washbasin 1 according to the invention.

[0046] Furthermore, the washbasin top 1 according to the invention, then mounted on fixing brackets, does not need to be raised and remains at a comfortable height for use and access, while providing the surface of the top 11 for arranging various utensils, particularly for toiletries.

[0047] The use of a washbasin top 1 according to the invention results in a maximization of the usage volumes located under the top 11 and the basin 2.

[0048] When used on a vanity unit 5, the use of a vanity top 1 according to the invention makes it possible to avoid cutting out a “U” shape or providing such a shape at the level of the upper drawer as in the prior art.

[0049] In an alternative embodiment, the recess 122 projects from a wall rising wall of the basin 12 which is other than the rear rising wall 125: for example from a right or left lateral rising wall of the basin 12.

[0050] Here, the basin 12 has a substantially paving stone shape, the opening section being of rectangular section.

[0051] In alternative embodiments, the basin is a portion of a sphere (circular opening section) or a portion of an ellipsoid (elliptical opening section).

[0052] In these cases, the recess 122 may project from a sector portion located behind a diametrical vertical plane of the basin perpendicular to the rear edge 110.
