Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Method and device for determining a charge level of a battery supplying electrical energy to a device for concealing an opening in a room of a building or solar protection Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of systems for concealing an opening in a room of a building or for solar protection powered by a battery. STATE OF PRIOR ART
[0002] A sunscreen or shading device is set in motion by a motor and a motor controller. The motor and controller require electrical power to perform such a movement. Powering the motor and controller using renewable energy sources is growing. For example, the motor and controller may be powered by a battery charged by photovoltaic elements.
[0003] To ensure effective use of the motor of the occulting device, the battery must be charged with electrical energy. When using the occulting device, energy is consumed when the occulting device is set in motion. At certain times of the day, such as at night, the photovoltaic elements cannot deliver electrical energy to the battery. The same is true when atmospheric conditions prevent or reduce light radiation on the photovoltaic elements.
[0004] A need has arisen to provide information on the battery charge level to users of shading or solar protection systems. Statement of the invention
[0005] The present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned problems by proposing a method for determining a charge level of a battery supplying electrical energy to a device for concealing an opening of a room of a building or a solar protection device, the battery being supplied with electrical energy by photovoltaic elements, characterized in that the method comprises the steps carried out by a device for controlling the electrical power supply of the device for concealing the opening or the solar protection of: measuring a temperature in a trunk including the power supply control device, - checking whether the measured temperature is less than or equal to a single predetermined temperature, - determination of a plurality of battery charge threshold values based on the verification, - measurement of voltage at the battery terminals, - comparisons of the measured voltage at at least part of the load thresholds and / or to battery discharge thresholds, the battery discharge thresholds having predetermined values independent of the measured temperature, - determination of the battery charge level based on comparisons.
[0006] The invention also relates to a device for determining a charge level of a battery supplying electrical energy to a device for concealing an opening in a room of a building or a solar protection device, the battery being supplied with electrical energy by photovoltaic elements, characterized in that the device is included in a device for controlling the electrical power supply to the device for concealing the opening or the solar protection and comprises: - means for measuring a temperature in a box comprising the device for controlling the electrical power supply, - means of verifying whether the measured temperature is less than or equal to a single predetermined temperature, - means for determining a plurality of battery charge threshold values as a function of the verification, - means of measuring a voltage at the battery terminals, - means of comparing the voltage measured at at least part of the charge thresholds and / or battery discharge thresholds, the battery discharge thresholds having predetermined values independent of the measured temperature, - means of determining the battery charge level based on comparisons.
[0007] Thus, the present invention takes into account the hysteresis between the charge and discharge thresholds to determine the charge level of the battery in a simple manner without requiring complex calculations. The present invention can thus be executed by a control device which conventionally ensures the function of controlling the motor according to instructions generated by the user of a concealment device via a control device.
[0008] According to a particular embodiment, there are four charge thresholds and four discharge thresholds.
[0009] The present invention can thus be executed by a control device which conventionally performs the function of controlling the motor according to instructions generated by the user of a concealment device via a control device.
[0010] According to a particular embodiment, the fourth charging threshold is further determined from a measurement of the charging current delivered by the photovoltaic elements to the battery.
[0011] Thus, the present invention makes it possible to generate the charge of the battery in a so-called maintenance mode.
[0012] According to a particular embodiment, the method is executed when a period of time has elapsed after a movement of the motor and by interrupting the charging of the battery.
[0013] Thus, the present invention limits the impact of the charge and discharge currents for determining the charge level of the battery.
[0014] According to a particular embodiment, the battery is of the Ni-Mh type.
[0015] The invention also relates to a computer program which can be stored on a medium and / or downloaded from a communication network, in order to be read by a processor. This computer program comprises instructions for implementing the above-mentioned method in any of its embodiments, when said computer program is executed by the processor. [0024] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0025] [Fig.l] thus schematically illustrates a motorized concealment device 100 for a bay which is intended to be installed in a shutter box of a building, said shutter box being located above the bay to be closed. The motorized concealment device 100 comprises an apron 106, and drive means 103 consisting of a motor, photovoltaic elements, a battery and a device for controlling the electrical power supply of the concealment device. The device for controlling the electrical power supply of the concealment device also ensures the function of controlling the motor according to instructions generated by the user of the concealment device via a control device 120. The motorized concealment device also comprises a winding tube 104 which is rotated by the motor to drive the apron 106 up and down.
[0026] The motor is for example coaxial with the winding tube 104 and is arranged inside said winding tube 104. The fixing of the apron 106 on the winding tube 104 is carried out using a flexible or rigid locking device. The winding tube 104 is driven in rotation by the motor 103 and then causes the apron 106 to rise or fall depending on whether the direction of rotation of the winding tube 104 generates the winding or unwinding of the apron 106 around the winding tube 104.
[0027] Generally, the apron 106 is made up of slats fixed to each other so as to have a space between them.
[0028] The motor 103 is controlled by the controller 200 (shown in [Fig.2]) which makes it possible to control the rotation of the motor 103 in a first direction or in a second direction opposite to the first, so as to cause the raising or lowering of the apron 106 and controls for stopping the rotation of the motor 103. The motor 103 and the controller 200 are electrically powered by a battery.
[0029] The controller 200 receives instructions from a control device 120 via a communication link 121 of a communication network. The control device 120 is a transmitter such as a dedicated box or a remote control or a smartphone, configured to transmit instructions to the controller 200. The transmission of an instruction results from an action executed or programmed by a user. The control device 120 thus allows the user to generate the transmission of instructions to the controller 200 of the motor 103.
[0030] [Fig.2] schematically illustrates an example of a device for controlling the electrical power supply to a device for concealing an opening in a room of a building or for solar protection.
[0031] The device for controlling the electrical power supply of a device for concealing an opening in a room of a building or solar protection comprises a controller 200, a temperature sensor 225, a battery 205 and photovoltaic elements 210.
[0032] The controller 200 comprises means for measuring the electrical voltage at the terminals of the battery and / or the photovoltaic elements 210 and the current delivered by the battery 205 and / or by the photovoltaic elements 210.
[0033] The battery 205 of capacity C is recharged by the photovoltaic elements 210, for example at a current <C / 10. La recharge de la batterie est dépendante du flux solaire reçu par les éléments photovoltaïques 210 et la décharge (à un courant > C) of the battery is linked to the consumption of the motor which is dependent on the use of the roller shutter by the user. The initial charge level of the battery is not known a priori
[0034] (new battery received with a charge level depending on the charge level leaving the manufacturer's factory, the storage time and the storage temperature which influences the self-discharge of this type of battery).
[0035] Therefore, in this type of system, the battery is constantly charged or discharged in an indeterminate and non-predictable manner.
[0036] The disadvantage of Ni-Mh type batteries is that they have a voltage hysteresis under charge dependent on the current and temperature.
[0037] [Fig.3] schematically illustrates an example of the hardware architecture of the controller.
[0038] The controller 200 comprises, connected by a communication bus 300: a processor or CPU (Central Processing Unit) 301; a RAM (Random Access Memory) 302; a ROM (Read Only Memory) 303; a communication interface 305 enabling communication with the control device 120 and a measurement unit 308 enabling measurements of the temperature, the electrical voltage at the terminals of the battery 205 and / or the photovoltaic elements 210 and the current delivered by the battery 205 and / or the photovoltaic elements 210 to be obtained.
[0039] The processor 301 is capable of executing instructions loaded into the RAM 302 from the ROM 303. When the controller 200 is powered on, the processor 301 is capable of reading instructions from the RAM 302 and executing them.
[0040] These instructions form a computer program causing the implementation, by the processor 301, of all or part of the algorithms and steps described below.
[0041] Thus, all or part of the algorithms and steps described below can be implemented in software form by executing a set of instructions by a programmable machine, such as a DSP (“Digital Signal Processor” in English) or a microcontroller, or in hardware form by a machine or a dedicated component, such as an FPGA (“Field-Programmable Gate Array” in English) or an ASIC (“Application-Specific Integrated Circuit” in English).
[0042] The control device 120 comprises a human-machine interface for controlling the occultation device and means for displaying the charge level of the battery 205.
[0043] [Fig.4] schematically illustrates steps of an algorithm for determining a charge level of a battery supplying electrical energy to a device for concealing an opening in a room of a building or solar protection.
[0044] To limit the impact of the charge and discharge currents, the present algorithm performs a measurement of the no-load voltage of the battery at least 10 minutes after movement of the engine and by cutting off the battery charge during these 10 minutes.
[0045] For example, the present algorithm is executed with a periodicity of the order of two hours to refresh the battery charge level and take into account the self-discharge currents of the system.
[0046] The present algorithm is described in an example in which it is executed by the controller 200.
[0047] In step E400, the controller 200 is powered up.
[0048] In step E401, the controller 200 sets the load level variable equal to the value 2.
[0049] In step E402, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the voltage noted V of the battery 205.
[0050] In step E403, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is lower than a discharge threshold of the level 1 battery.
[0051] The level 1 discharge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 12.1 Volts.
[0052] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E404. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E411.
[0053] In step E404, the controller 200 sets the load level variable equal to the value 1.
[0054] In step E405, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the voltage noted V of the battery 205.
[0055] In step E406, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is lower than a battery discharge threshold of level 0.
[0056] The discharge threshold of level 0 of the battery is for example equal to 1.5 Volts.
[0057] If so, the controller 200 goes to step E408. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E407.
[0058] In step E407, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is greater than a charge threshold of the level 2 battery.
[0059] The level 2 charge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 13.8 Volts when the measured temperature is greater than 0°C and equal to 14.3 Volts when the measured temperature is less than equal to 0°C. The value of the level 2 charge threshold of the battery is determined by the algorithm which will be described with reference to [Fig.5],
[0060] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E401. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E404.
[0061] In step E408, the controller 200 sets the load level variable equal to the value 0.
[0062] In step E409, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the voltage noted V of the battery 205.
[0063] In step E410, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is greater than a charge threshold of the level 1 battery.
[0064] The level 1 charge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 13.3 Volts when the measured temperature is greater than 0°C and equal to 14 Volts when the measured temperature is less than equal to 0°C. The value of the level 1 charge threshold of the battery is determined by the algorithm which will be described with reference to [Fig.5].
[0065] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E404. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E408.
[0066] In step E411, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is greater than a charge threshold of the level 3 battery.
[0067] The level 3 charge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 14.2 Volts when the measured temperature is greater than 0°C and equal to 14.7 Volts when the measured temperature is less than equal to 0°C. The value of the level 3 charge threshold of the battery is determined by the algorithm which will be described with reference to [Fig.5],
[0068] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E412. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E401.
[0069] In step E412, the controller 200 sets the charge level variable equal to the value 3.
[0070] In step E413, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the voltage noted V of the battery 205.
[0071] In step E414, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is lower than a discharge threshold of the level 2 battery.
[0072] The level 2 discharge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 12.4 Volts.
[0073] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E401. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E415.
[0074] In step E415, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is greater than a charge threshold of the level 4 battery.
[0075] The level 4 charge threshold of the battery is determined by the algorithm which will be described with reference to [Fig.6].
[0076] If so, the controller 200 proceeds to step E416. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E401.
[0077] In step E416, the controller 200 sets the load level variable equal to the value 4.
[0078] In step E417, the controller 200 enters a so-called maintenance charge mode.
[0079] The maintenance charge mode allows the charging of the battery 205 to be finalized and compensate for the self-discharge of battery 205 as well as the standby consumption of the control device. The maintenance charge is carried out as follows: the battery is charged with a duty cycle of 10% of the time (1mm of charge every 10 minutes).
[0080] In step E418, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the voltage noted V of the battery 205.
[0081] In step E419, the controller 200 checks whether the measured voltage V is lower than a discharge threshold of the level 3 battery.
[0082] The level 1 charge threshold of the battery is for example equal to 12.7 Volts.
[0083] If so, the controller 200 goes to step E412. If not, the controller 200 proceeds to step E416.
[0084] At the end of the execution of the algorithm of [Fig.4], the controller 200 provides the control device 120 with information representative of the determined charge level.
[0085] The determined charge level is visually represented on the control device 120, for example in the form of bars. No bar corresponds to charge level 0, one bar corresponds to charge level 1, two bars correspond to charge level 2, three bars correspond to charge level 3 and four bars correspond to charge level 4.
[0086] [Fig.5] schematically illustrates steps of an algorithm for determining thresholds used to determine a battery charge level when the battery charge level is less than 75% of its capacity.
[0087] For example, the present algorithm is executed with a periodicity of the order of two hours.
[0088] The present algorithm is described in an example in which it is executed by the controller 200.
[0089] In step E500, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the temperature noted T.
[0090] The temperature T is the temperature in a trunk comprising the device for controlling the power supply to the device for concealing the opening or the solar protection. The temperature T is substantially equal to the temperature of the battery. The temperature T is measured when the motor 220 is not rotating.
[0091] In step E503, the controller 200 checks whether the temperature T is less than or equal to a predetermined temperature, for example 0 degrees Celsius.
[0092] If so, the controller 200 sets in step E504 the charge thresholds of levels 1, 2 and 3 to the respective values of 14 Volts, 14.3 Volts and 14.7 Volts.
[0093] If not, the controller 200 sets in step E505 the charge thresholds of levels 1, 2 and 3 to the respective values of 13.5 Volts, 13.8 Volts and 14.2 Volts.
[0094] [Fig.6] schematically illustrates steps of an algorithm for determining thresholds used to determine a charge level of a battery when the charge level of the battery is of the order of or greater than 75% of its capacity.
[0095] In step E600, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the temperature noted T.
[0096] In step E601, the controller 200 obtains a measurement of the charging current delivered. by the photovoltaic elements 210 to the battery 205.
[0097] In step E602, the controller 200 selects the charging threshold of the level 4 battery which corresponds to the current Ie and the temperature T measured in the table as represented in [Fig.7].
[0098] [Fig.7] illustrates an example of a table used by the algorithm shown in [Fig.6].
[0099] The table in [Fig.7] has 6 lines.
[0100] A first line includes different values of the level 4 battery charge threshold for a temperature between -20 and -10 degrees Celsius.
