Description

Title of the invention: Kit for preparing a deodorizing product contained in a case closed by a lid

[0001] The invention relates to a kit for preparing a deodorizing product contained in a case closed by a lid.

[0002] Air fresheners are commonly used to destroy or mask unpleasant odors. Some air fresheners come in the form of a scented gel mass contained in a jar closed by a perforated lid allowing the fragrance to escape after evaporation. The gel mass is water-based. To allow safe transport, the container containing the gel mass is hermetically sealed with a lid, then fitted with the perforated lid. The lid is generally in the form of an aluminum / polyethylene laminate sheet which allows it to be easily welded onto the opening of the container while being easily removable by the end user before use.

[0003] These gelled air fresheners are very practical, however they require the transport of the ready-to-use product containing not only the gelling product and perfumes, but also the water necessary for its consistency and correct functioning. In addition, the presence of the lid is an additional disadvantage. Welding the metal lid is a relatively expensive step during the manufacture of the product and the metal lid on a plastic casing represents an additional difficulty for recycling the pot. In addition, the lid may be poorly welded and leaks may occur during storage or transport of the finished ready-to-use product. Finally, the preparation of the gelling solution on an industrial scale requires a lot of energy.

[0004] The objective of the present invention is therefore to provide a means for overcoming these drawbacks.

[0005] This objective is achieved with the kit of the invention which comprises - a first container containing a first ingredient or mixture of ingredients, - preferably at least one second container containing a second ingredient or a second mixture of ingredients, and - a box closed by a cover, the first and second containers being placed inside the box closed by the lid.

[0006] The end user buys a kit that contains only components that he does not have at home, i.e. all the components except water. The kit looks the same from the outside as the product sold ready to use, but it weighs a lot lighter. It is therefore easier to transport and handle. It is also less expensive to manufacture due to the elimination of the dilution, filling and gelling steps. Finally, it is possible to avoid using the lid, which no longer serves any purpose. This saves money during product manufacturing and facilitates recycling. Furthermore, it is possible to reuse the casing and the lid and only buy the containers containing the first and second ingredients, which generally come in the form of sachets.

[0007] By using two separate containers, or even three or more if necessary, it is possible to store separately for several months products which, if they had already been mixed, would have been unstable. If the different components do not interact with each other, it is possible to put them all in a single container.

[0008] The first container may contain a gelling product. It is preferable that this is in a form that is easy to dissolve. In particular, a gelling product may be chosen in the form of granules, powder or sheets.

[0009] Furthermore, the gelling product may be chosen from gelling agents of plant origin, in particular alginates, carrageenans, agar-agar and gelling agents of animal origin, in particular pork and beef proteins.

[0010] One of the containers, preferably the second container, may contain a perfuming product, an odor-destroying product, and / or a surfactant. It is often necessary to separate the perfuming products from the other components to prevent them from degrading during storage. If necessary, the kit may therefore contain more than two containers to ensure separation of the different components until the time of preparation of the gel.

[0011] In order to facilitate the preparation of the air freshener, it is preferable to provide the kit with instructions for use. These instructions for use may be printed on the casing. However, it may be more practical to place them inside the casing. In order to ensure that the end user is aware of these instructions for use, they will preferably be placed above the containers, just below the lid. The instructions for use may be in the form of an insert, for example made of cardboard, in particular FSC cardboard.

[0012] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the containers are in the form of sachets, preferably easy to open. The sachets are containers that are simple to manufacture and fill, light, compact and able to deform to adapt to the shape of the environment (here the housing). They are easily recyclable.

[0013] The housing may take any suitable form. In particular, the housing may be in the form of a pot. It may be made of cardboard provided with an inner sealing layer, or of plastic, in particular polyethylene terephthalate.

[0014] In order to retain the cover on the housing so as not to lose it or to prevent it from moving away too easily, retaining means may be provided on the cover and the housing. These retaining means make it possible to reversibly retain the cover in the closed position on the housing. They may, for example, be in the form of a screw thread or snap-on rings, made on the one hand on the neck of the opening of the housing and on the other hand on the cover.

[0015] In order to allow the evaporation of the perfuming and / or odor-destroying products, it is preferable for the lid to have openings. If the lid is not perforated, it is then possible to leave the box open.

[0016] The kit of the invention is used in the following way. The end user purchases the kit of his choice. He opens the case, takes out the instructions for use, which he reads, and all the containers (usually two). He empties the containers into the container, adds the indicated quantity of water, mixes if necessary and replaces the lid. After a certain time, generally about half an hour, the product has gelled. It should be noted that the product is active from the moment it is prepared, even before gelling. In some preparations, the order in which the products are introduced into the case may be important. In this case, this order may be indicated by incremented indicators, such as "product A" and "product B", or "product 1" and "product 2".

[0017] It may be advantageous for the kit to be part of a series of kits distinguished from each other by their fragrances and / or the presence or absence of products absorbing unpleasant odors. Generally, however, the basic preparation is identical. It is thus possible to have a single type of first container usable for a whole range of products and different second containers specific to the chosen fragrance.

[0018] The invention is described in more detail with the aid of the schematic figures which show: [Fig. 1] a kit according to the invention as it can be purchased; [Fig.2] the casing of the kit of [Fig. 1] directly after preparation of the gelling solution, with the lid still removed; [Fig.3] the case of [Fig.2] after gelling and closing the lid.

[0019] The figures show a kit containing three containers. However, it would be possible for it to contain only one, or two, or more than three depending on the composition chosen and the stability of the components relative to each other.

[0020] The kit (1) according to the invention is composed of the following elements: - a housing (2) which can be closed by a cover (3); - the components (A, B, C) necessary for the manufacture of the gel, which components are contained in containers (4); - instructions for use (5).

[0021] The housing (2) has a volume sufficient to contain the initial quantity of gel after mixing the components (A, B, C) with the required volume of water. It is presented by example in the form of a pot.

[0022] The cover (3) is preferably perforated (32) to allow the perfuming and / or odor-destroying products to escape. If the cover is not perforated, the housing can be left open, or the cover can simply be placed on it in a non-tight manner.

[0023] The housing (2) and / or the cover (3) may be recyclable and / or made from recycled materials.

[0024] It can be provided that the housing (2) and the cover (3) are reusable. In this case, only the containers (4) containing the components of the gel are sold as refills.

[0025] A label may be affixed to the housing (2) or the lid (3). The instructions for use may be printed on the label. It is also possible to provide it in the form of an insert (5), for example made of cardboard, in particular FSC cardboard. In this case, it is preferable for the insert (5) to be placed above the containers (4) to ensure that the end user has it in hand and can read it before preparing the gelling solution.

[0026] The housing (2) and the cover (3) are preferably provided with retaining means (21, 31) for reversibly, i.e. detachably, fixing the cover (3) to the housing (2). These retaining means preferably consist of a screw thread represented schematically by triangular threads (21, 31). However, other retaining means, such as snap-on rings or a hinge, may be used.

[0027] The containers containing the components are preferably flexible bags (4). These bags may be easy to open. In particular, they may be provided with a pre-cut (41). The containers (4) are preferably biodegradable. They bear markings which allow them to be identified. If the order of introduction of the components is important to respect, they may be provided with incremented indicators, such as “product A” and “product B”, or “product 1” and “product 2”.

[0028] The end customer purchases a kit (1) according to the invention. When he wants to use it, he opens the lid (3) to access the contents of the kit. In the case shown here, he first finds the instructions for use (5) which he can read before accessing the components (A, B, C). He follows the instructions. In the present case, he first empties the first sachet (A) then the second and third sachets (B, C), then he pours the quantity of water (E) indicated in the instructions for use. The water (E) is the only component that he must provide himself. If necessary, he can mix everything. He closes the lid (3). After a few minutes, or tens of minutes in certain cases, the solution has gelled. The perfuming or odor-destroying effect begins as soon as the solution is prepared, without it being necessary to wait for gelling.

[0029] Preparing a small amount of solution for an individual case does not require any energy input. This is not the case for making an industrial-sized batch which requires mixing and often heating to accelerate the solution and maintain the solution in a state allowing it to flow when filling the boxes. The kit of the invention therefore has many advantages over ready-to-use air fresheners.
