Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Modular storage unit
[0001] The present invention relates to a storage assembly composed of several elements which are of modular type and are combinable with each other, so as to make said assembly adjustable according to the specific needs of the user.
[0002] Such sets are known which are used in different types of industry to store objects permanently or temporarily.
[0003] Such sets are thus used in the field of shows, and in particular in the cinema sector where the personnel need, for the purposes of filming a film, to store and make available to the various users a wide variety of elements, ranging for example from the actual filming equipment to the "rollers" intended to contain and present to the filming personnel the supplies they need.
[0004] Storage units are thus known, often arranged on trolleys, which are made up of lockers whose number and dimensions, which are fixed for a given unit, depend on the use that is to be made of them.
[0005] Such storage units usually consist of a supporting base supporting horizontal and vertical metal uprights which are welded together, so as to form a determined number of lockers in the very specific dimensions which are required.
[0006] Patent EP 0640447 thus discloses a device intended for storing and presenting tools, which comprises several stacked compartments which are housed and held inside a rigid structure.
[0007] It is understood in these conditions that each storage unit is defined by several essential parameters, namely on the one hand the number of lockers and on the other hand the dimensions of each of these, namely their width, and their height and possibly their depth, without forgetting their relative arrangement. A user who has the need for a given application of a storage unit comprising a well-defined number of lockers whose dimensions are also well-defined will often have difficulty in finding in an existing stock the ideal storage unit, especially since his requirements may also extend to the arrangement of these lockers in relation to each other.
[0008] This user will therefore have no other resource than to have the storage unit he needs specially manufactured, which is costly both in terms of time and budget.
[0009] Also known from patent application FR 21.04680 is a modular storage unit which has the advantage of being able to be put together on demand, from a few basic elements, in a particularly easy and rapid manner, this storage unit which can, in particular, after use, be easily transformed to create a new, different configuration.
[0010] This storage assembly thus comprises at least one module supported by a carrier base, this module being made from at least one folded sheet, in particular a metal sheet, so as to form a rectangular flat frame, each of the longitudinal and transverse sides of which comprises an internal fold forming a first wing perpendicular to the plane of the frame and extending downwards which is itself folded at 90° inwards to form a second wing parallel to the plane of the frame, said second wings being arranged in the same plane.
[0011] It will be noted, however, that such a storage assembly is formed from constituent parts, some of which have a large deployed volume, which constitutes a disadvantage on the one hand with regard to its ease of storage and shipping and on the other hand with regard to the quantity of material used for its manufacture.
[0012] The object of the present invention is to propose a modular type storage unit which can be assembled on demand, from a few basic elements, in a particularly easy and rapid manner, this storage unit being able in particular, after use, to be easily transformed to create a new different configuration and which, moreover, is formed of constituent elements which are presented prior to assembly in a particularly compact form thus lending themselves easily to its storage and transport. In addition, the present invention makes it possible to achieve particularly substantial savings on the quantities and therefore on the cost of the materials used for its manufacture.
[0013] The present invention thus relates to a storage assembly of the type comprising at least one series of at least one module, each module comprising a base and perpendicular uprights connected thereto, each upright being made up of an angle element formed of two perpendicular wings, namely a first wing and a second wing,
[0014] - each end of the first wing ending in a fixing lug called primary, and each end of the second wing ending in a fixing lug called secondary, said fixing lugs extending towards the inside of the angle element,
[0015] - the gap existing between the primary fixing lug and the fixing lug secondary, at each end of an upright, being equal to the thickness of the base increased by one time the thickness of the fixing lugs.
[0016] In one embodiment of the invention, the second wing will be longer than the first wing, and in another embodiment, both wings may have the same length.
[0017] The amounts of the same module may advantageously be of the same shape and di- identical dimensions.
[0018] The storage assembly may comprise at least one series of at least two superimposed modules comprising at least four pairs of adjacent aligned uprights in which, for each pair of said uprights:
[0019] - the first wing of one upright and the second wing of the other upright will be co planarians,
[0020] - a primary fixing lug of a first upright will be applied against a lug secondary fixing lug of the other upright and a secondary fixing lug of the first upright will be applied against a primary fixing lug of the other upright.
[0021] In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the storage assembly may comprise at least one series of at least two superimposed modules comprising at least four pairs of aligned adjacent uprights, in which for each pair of said uprights:
[0022] - the first wings of each of the aligned adjacent uprights will be coplanar, and the second wings of these uprights will also be coplanar,
[0023] - a primary fixing lug of a first upright will be applied against a lug primary fixing lug of the other upright, and a secondary fixing lug of the first upright will be applied against a secondary fixing lug of the other upright.
[0024] The uprights and / or the base may be made of metal, in particular stainless steel, and the primary fixing lugs and the secondary fixing lugs may be obtained by bending.
[0025] According to the invention, the uprights and / or the base may also be made of a synthetic material and then be produced in particular by molding.
[0026] The base may form a rectangular flat frame, each of the transverse and longitudinal sides of which may comprise, on the one hand, two transverse internal flanks and two longitudinal internal flanks perpendicular to the plane of the frame and, on the other hand, two transverse external flanks and two longitudinal external flanks perpendicular to the plane of the frame, the transverse internal flanks and the longitudinal internal flanks extending downwards and extending at 90° towards the inside of the frame to form respectively transverse internal wings and longitudinal internal wings which will be parallel to the plane of the frame, said internal wings being furthermore coplanar.
[0027] The transverse external flanks and the longitudinal external flanks of the base may extend at 90° towards the inside of the frame, to form respectively transverse external wings and longitudinal external wings coplanar and parallel to the transverse sides and to the longitudinal sides.
[0028] The transverse flanks may extend over the entire width of the base and the ends of the transverse external wings and the longitudinal external wings may extend to a distance from the ends of the frame equal to the width of the wings of the uprights.
[0029] Furthermore, the ends of the longitudinal sides may extend up to a distance from the longitudinal ends of the frame, this distance being less than the width of the wings of the uprights.
[0030] The storage assembly may comprise at least two series of at least one module whose lower bases will be connected by at least one stiffening bar.
[0031] This stiffening bar may be placed in the space between the transverse side of the base, a transverse external flank of the base, and one end of a longitudinal external flank of the latter.
[0032] The storage unit may comprise at least two series of at least one module, and the overall height of these at least two series of at least one module may be the same and their upper part may be closed by a tray common to said two series.
[0033] According to the invention, at least two adjacent uprights belonging to each of the aforementioned at least two series may be secured by removable fixing means.
[0034] Furthermore, at least two of the bases belonging to each of the aforementioned at least two series may be secured by removable fixing means.
[0035] The storage assembly may comprise two wheels which will be secured to a lower base by means of a gusset on which they will be fixed, said gusset being made up of a metal plate of which two adjacent sides will be folded at 90° so as to form a flank perpendicular to the plate, this flank itself being folded at 90° towards the inside of the plate so as to form two wings parallel to the latter, the spacing between said plate and said wings being equal to the thickness of the base.
[0036] Finally, in order to save on the material used when the base and the uprights are made from a metal sheet, in particular a stainless steel sheet, the length of the uprights may be less than the distance separating the two internal transverse wings of the base, thus making it possible to make the latter in a metal part intended for waste.

[0060] [Fig.22] is a partial perspective view of a storage assembly with a second end equipped with wheels.
[0061] [Fig.l] shows a perspective view of an example of a storage assembly 1 according to the invention.
[0062] This storage assembly 1 is made up of three series of modules 2, each series comprising at least two modules stacked on top of each other. These series are arranged side by side, namely a first series A of two modules 2, a second series B of three modules 2 and a third series C of four modules 2. It would of course be possible, according to the invention, to combine in the same way any number of series, each made up of any number of modules 2, and this depending on the use that is intended to be made of the storage assembly 1.
[0063] It is thus understood that each module 2 is made up of a base 3 and four vertical uprights 5, the upper module being closed by a cover 7 which can be made up, as shown in [Fig. 1], by a receiving plane covering several series of modules or in particular by a base 3 as shown in [Fig. 13].
[0064] The uprights 5 which are shown in detail in [Fig.2] are, for a given module 2, all identical and are made from a metal angle element, in particular made of stainless steel, that is to say an element which is formed of two wings 6a and 6b which are perpendicular and have a width m. The first wing 6a, which we will designate hereinafter in the present text as "primary wing", is folded at each of its ends at 90° towards the inside of the angle, so as to form a fixing lug called "primary lug" 8a.
[0065] Similarly, the second wing 6b, which we will designate hereinafter in the present text by “secondary wing”, is folded at each of its ends at 90° towards the inside of the angle iron, so as to form a fixing lug called “secondary lug” 8b. The secondary wings 6b are of greater length than the primary wings 6a, so that once the lugs 8a and 8b are formed, they are located at a distance E from each other, at each end of the upright, as shown in Figures 2 to 3.
[0066] [Fig. 2] shows two uprights before they are put in place, namely an upper upright 5a and a lower upright 5b, this putting in place being carried out by a simple relative movement of the uprights in the direction of arrow F.
[0067] When the two upper 5a and lower 5b uprights are correctly positioned, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, it is noted on the one hand that the primary wing 6a of the upper upright 5a and the secondary wing 6b of the lower upright 5b are coplanar, as are the secondary wing 6b of the upper upright 5a and the primary wing 6a of the lower upright 5b. It is also noted that a secondary tab 8b of the lower upright 5b comes into contact with a primary tab 8a of the upper upright 5a and, under these conditions since the uprights 5a and 5b are identical, a tab primary 8a of the lower upright 5b comes into contact with a secondary leg 8b of the upper upright 5a.
[0068] It is understood that once the two uprights 5a and 5b are in position, as shown in [Fig.3], the gap E' existing between the lower face of the secondary leg 8b of the lower upright 5b and the upper face of the secondary leg 8b of the upper upright 5a is as follows:
[0069] E'=E - e (e representing the thickness of the legs 8a, 8b)
[0070] This space E' is intended to receive a base 3 of thickness a=E', as well as re shown in Figures 5 to 10. The installation is carried out by a simple relative displacement of the pair of uprights 5a / 5b in the direction of the arrow Fl as shown in [Fig.5].
[0071] In order to ensure the attachment of the two uprights 5a and 5b to the base 3, the latter and the legs 8a and 8b of the uprights are provided with holes 10, 10a which will be crossed for example by tightening bolts, not shown in the drawing. It would of course be possible to use other fixing means as explained below.
[0072] In an alternative embodiment shown in [Fig.2a], the uprights could be made differently, while remaining within the scope of the present invention. Thus, these upper 5'a and lower 5'b uprights are also made from an angle element therefore having two perpendicular wings, namely a primary wing 6'a and a secondary wing 6'b, these uprights being identical in shape and dimensions for the same module 2. The primary wing 6'a ends at each of its ends with a fixing lug called primary 8'a and the secondary wing 6'b ends at each of its ends with a fixing lug called secondary 8'b. Unlike the previous embodiment, the two primary 6'a and secondary 6'b wings are of the same length.Furthermore, at each end of an upright, the two primary and secondary legs are spaced apart by a distance E, the latter being equal, as in the previous embodiment, to the thickness a of a base increased by the thickness e of the legs 8'a and 8'b.
[0073] As shown in [Fig.2a], these legs are positioned in such a way that:
[0074] - on the one hand, the primary wings 6'a of the upper 5'a and lower 5'b uprights are coplanar and that the secondary wings 6'b of the upper 5'a and lower 5'b uprights are also coplanar,
[0075] - secondly, the legs 8'b of the upper 5'a and lower 5'b uprights are in contact as well as the legs 8'a of the upper and lower uprights 5'a and 5'b.
[0076] The bases 3 can be made up of simple solid panels made of any rigid material such as wood or PVC (polyvinyl chloride), as shown in Figures 5 and 6. More interestingly, these bases 3 can be made of a shaped metal sheet, in particular folded stainless steel, or a rigid composite material for example as shown in figures 7 and following.
[0077] In this latter embodiment, the base 3 forms a rectangular frame having transverse sides 12 and longitudinal sides 14 as specified below, each of these sides comprising an external flank and an internal flank which is perpendicular to them. Thus, the longitudinal sides 14 comprise an external flank 14a and an internal flank 14b and the transverse sides 12 comprise an external flank 12a and an internal flank 12b. The external transverse flanks 12a extend over the entire width of the side 12, unlike the longitudinal flanks 14a which stop at a distance g from each end, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, this distance g being less than the width m of the uprights 5a and 5b.
[0078] The transverse external flanks 12a and the longitudinal external flanks 14a are folded at 90° towards the inside of the base, so as to form respectively transverse 12c and longitudinal 14c wings which are parallel to the sides 12 and 14, as shown in [Fig.8]. Furthermore, it will be noted that these transverse 12c and longitudinal 14c wings stop at a distance f from the respective ends of the transverse 12 and longitudinal 14 sides, this distance f being equal to the width m of the uprights 5a and 5b.
[0079] Similarly, the transverse internal flanks 12b and the longitudinal internal flanks 14b are folded at 90° towards the inside of the base, so as to form respectively transverse internal wings 12d and longitudinal internal wings 14d coplanar and parallel to the sides 12 and 14. This defines a recessed supporting plane which can securely receive the base of a product storage bin, and preferably a standard format bin called "Europe". This supporting plane, insofar as it is recessed between the flanks 12b and 14b, ensures the holding of the bins and prevents them from sliding.
[0080] It will be noted that these different folds cooperate to ensure two functions, namely on the one hand to constitute the aforementioned embedded supporting plane and on the other hand to create stiffening ribs which give the module its own rigidity, both in the transverse and longitudinal direction.
[0081] Of course, according to the invention, the base 3 could also be made of a synthetic material, obtained in particular by molding.
[0082] The installation of a pair of uprights, that is to say an upper upright 5a and a lower upright 5b assembled together, is carried out as previously in the example of a solid base, as shown in Figures 9 and 10. Such an assembly is then slid into a corner of the base 3 in the direction of the arrow F3 as shown in [Fig.9].
[0083] In this arrangement, and as shown in [Fig. 10], the secondary tab 8b of the lower upright 5b comes into contact on the one hand with the upper face 12 of the base 3 and on the other hand with the tab 8a of the upper upright 5a, and the lower tab 8b of the upper upright 5a comes into contact on the one hand with the part 12e of the transverse external flank 12a which is between the end of this flank and the folded end 12c of the transverse wing 12a and on the other hand with the tab 8a of the lower upright 5b.
[0084] As mentioned previously, the fixing can be ensured by any tightening means applying the fixing lugs to the base, and in particular by bolts 13 which pass through the holes 10 of the fixing lugs and the hole 10a of the base 3.
[0085] Depending on requirements, a series of modules A can be formed by superimposing them on top of each other as shown in [Fig. 13], just as several of these series of modules A, B, C can be assembled together as shown in [Fig. 1].
[0086] The series of modules A, B, C can be held together by screwing or, preferably, by fixing devices that are quickly and easily implemented, without the need to use tools. It is thus possible to use staples, for example of the type shown in Figures 14 to 16. Such a staple 18 can thus consist of a rectangular plate 18a comprising at each end a bolt 18b intended to be placed in an oblong window 19 made in two adjacent uprights 5 that it is desired to connect. The dimensions of these bolts are such that once they are placed in the two adjacent windows 19, the plate 18a is strongly applied with a force F4 against each upright 5, thus ensuring a good lateral connection of the latter.
[0087] It is also possible to use means for connecting two adjacent bases whose upper surface is at the same level, in particular by means of the staples 18 mentioned above.
[0088] Furthermore, in order to promote overall stiffening between them of several series of modules A, B, C, it is possible, as shown in [Fig. 17], to use stiffening bars 20 which will connect together the lower bases of these different sets of modules.
[0089] Indeed, as shown in [Fig. 17], it is understood that the lower bases 3 do not receive lower uprights 5b, so that, taking into account the fact that the longitudinal flank 14a does not extend over the entire length of the longitudinal side 14, an opening is thus created, and this opening allows the introduction of a stiffening bar 20 which will pass through the adjacent lower bases of the different series of modules A, B, C, ... etc. and thus ensure their rigidity. As shown in [Fig. 18], it is thus possible to have two stiffening bars 20 ensuring the rigidity of said series of modules.
[0090] The storage assembly according to the invention may preferably include wheels 24 allowing it to be moved easily, which makes it possible to constitute, as shown in Figures 1, 19 and 22, mobile equipment usually referred to as “rolling”.
[0091] The wheels 24 may in particular be held by support gussets 22 which are essentially constituted, in the present embodiment, by a square of folded metal sheet, in particular stainless steel. Such a gusset 22, as shown in [Fig. 20], comprises on two of its adjacent sides a double fold, namely a first 90° fold forming a flank 22a perpendicular to the plate, followed by a second 90° fold in the direction of the latter and forming a wing 22b parallel to said plate, the spacing b between the plate and the wings 22b being equal to the thickness a of the base 3, so as to ensure its retention when the gussets 22 are arranged on the latter, as shown in [Fig. 21], the fixing being able to be ensured by bolts or rivets. The wheels 24 are rotatably mounted on supports 26 which are secured to the gussets 22.
[0092] The wheels 24 can be arranged under the base 3, as shown in [Fig. 19], or be arranged on either side of it, as shown in [Fig. 22].
[0093] The storage assembly according to the present invention is particularly interesting in that firstly its assembly and disassembly are particularly easy and rapid, since they can be carried out without the need to use tools.
[0094] Furthermore, it is understood that to produce modules of different heights, it is simply sufficient to use uprights of different lengths, uprights which, for a module of given height, are all identical. Under these conditions, a user who has bases and several series of uprights of different heights is able to easily and quickly produce a storage unit whose different series of modules A, B, C etc. have different heights, and this according to the needs, as shown in [Fig.l]. Indeed, the latter comprises a first series A formed by a first stack of two high modules, a second series B formed by a second stack of three medium-height modules and a third series C formed by a stack of four low-height modules.
[0095] Another advantage of the present invention lies in the fact that a user, provided that he has a few uprights of different heights, will be able to quickly and easily modify the composition of his existing storage unit, according to specific needs, without having to call upon specialists to do so. external stakeholders, which represents a saving of time and substantial savings for him.
[0096] Such a storage unit is thus particularly interesting in the rental field, where user customers have specific and varied needs. In such a field, the present invention allows, for example, a rental company, once the service has been completed, to partially dismantle the recovered storage unit in order to transform it to make it conform to the wishes of a new customer, or to replace a particular module which could have been damaged during the service.
[0097] It would also be possible for the lessor to completely dismantle the recovered storage unit in order to have the uprights and bases in reserve, which would then become available for another service, which is particularly easy due to the reduced volume of the constituent elements of the storage unit.
[0098] Another advantage of the present invention relates to the storage and shipping of such storage assemblies, insofar as their separate parts, since they are essentially made up of uprights and bases, are presented in a particularly compact form, in particular in comparison with the storage assemblies of the prior art, in particular when they are made of mechanically welded construction.
[0099] Finally, the present invention is particularly interesting with regard to the saving of raw material used, which in the case where the latter is made of stainless steel can prove to be particularly significant.
[0100] In particular, during the turning / stamping operation involved in the manufacture of the bases 3, the metal plate included inside the frame 12-14 between the wings 12d and 14d which usually constitutes waste can be used to produce the uprights 5a, 5b, when the length of the latter is less than the dimension existing between the wings 12d.
