Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for fixing wire mesh to a fence post. Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of fencing and more particularly to a device for fixing wire mesh to a fence post. Prior art
[0002] The use of fences is widespread, for example to delimit a field, an enclosure or a garden. The fence generally comprises posts, for example pickets or poles, planted in the ground at intervals and onto which wire mesh can be fixed.
[0003] This fencing can comprise several wire mesh panels, each fixed between two posts. In this latter case, the posts include, for example, hooks for attaching the wire mesh panels to maintain tension. However, this type of panel fencing can be expensive, complex, and time-consuming to install.
[0004] In another known solution, the wire mesh is in the form of a strip which is unrolled and secured to the posts.
[0005] When the posts are made of wood, the wire mesh strip is typically fixed to the posts using hooks or nails.
[0006] In the case of metal posts, a known solution is to form notches or holes in the posts and to fix the wire mesh to said notches or through said holes. However, this solution dictates the type of wire mesh to be used and restricts its installation at the notches or holes.
[0007] A simple, reliable and effective solution that would at least partially remedy these drawbacks would therefore prove advantageous. Description of the invention
[0008] To this end, the invention first relates to a device for attaching wire mesh to a fence post, in particular a stake or post, said device comprising a body and two fastening fins, said body having an elongated base extending along a longitudinal axis between a free end and a connecting end, said fins each extending on either side of the base from said connecting end, each fin being configured to allow the device to be attached to said post, the free end of the base forming a so-called "proximal" end of the body and the connecting end forming, with the two fins, a so-called "distal" end of the body, said distal end comprising at least a main groove configured to receive and lock at least one wire mesh against the post when the device is mounted on said post.
[0009] The fixing device according to the invention makes it possible to lock at least one wire of wire on a fence post, of the stake or post type, in a simple, reliable, quick and efficient manner, by sliding the wire into the groove before fixing the device on said post so that the wire is locked between the fixing device and the post.
[0010] Preferably, the groove is configured so that the wire is integrated into the device when the device is mounted on the upright.
[0011] Advantageously, the distal end of the body is configured to conform to the shape of the upright so that the wire is locked against a portion of said upright.
[0012] Preferably, considering that the body extends along a principal plane comprising the longitudinal axis of the base, at least one principal groove extends orthogonally to said principal plane.
[0013] Preferably, the distal end comprises a plurality of main grooves, for example two grooves. Thus, the device can block several wires of fencing.
[0014] Preferably, the distal end comprises at least one main groove on each side of the distal end relative to the middle of the free end of the base.
[0015] Preferably, at least one main groove is located at the connecting end of the base. This allows the device to lock a wire of the mesh as close as possible to the middle of the upright.
[0016] Preferably, at least one main groove is located on at least one of the fins.
[0017] Alternatively or in addition, the fins include at least one secondary groove extending perpendicularly to at least one main groove to block a horizontal wire of the mesh if necessary.
[0018] Advantageously, the base and the fins are made of the same material to simplify the manufacturing process of the part.
[0019] Preferably, the base and the fins are made of a plastic material, for example by molding or by 3D printing.
[0020] Advantageously, the body of the device is a single piece, to simplify the manufacturing process of the part.
[0021] Preferably, the body is made of a plastic material, for example by molding or by 3D printing.
[0022] In one embodiment of the invention, the base includes a slot, preferably axial, opening onto the connecting end of the base and configured to receive the foot of the T-section of a stake. This slot allows the device to be fixed to a T-stake.
[0023] Preferably, the slot has a rectangular cross-section, which is simpler to machine.
[0024] Preferably, the slot is delimited by two parallel walls of the base connected to each other via a portion called a "connecting" portion.
[0025] In one embodiment, at least one main groove extends between one of the fins and the slot.
[0026] Preferably, the device includes two main grooves, one on each side of the slot, the fins then allowing, when fixed on an upright, to hold the device so that two wire mesh wires are blocked between the base and the upright.
[0027] According to one embodiment of the invention, the device includes a fastening system for fixing the fins on or around the body of a fence post.
[0028] In one embodiment, the fastening system is configured to fix the device around the body of a stake whose cross-section is T-shaped.
[0029] Preferably, the fastening system includes at least two screws or two nails.
[0030] In one embodiment, the fastening system comprises at least one plate, two screws, and two nuts for attaching said at least one plate to the fins so that the post is held between the at least one plate and the fins. This makes fastening easier on a post, particularly a T-shaped post, eliminating the need to bend or deform the device and simplifying assembly and disassembly with the screws positioned on either side of the post.
[0031] In another embodiment the fastening system may include clip-type means to replace screws.
[0032] Advantageously, the proximal end is configured to removably receive an insulator, said insulator being made of an electrically insulating material and configured to receive and retain an electrically conductive wire. The term "removable" means that the insulator can be removed or replaced at will, preferably without tools. Such an insulator allows for the easy and quick addition of an electrically conductive wire to a fence, particularly for electrifying a fence that was not previously electrified. Such an insulator also allows for the easy replacement or relocation of an existing electrically conductive wire in an electrified fence, including changing the type of wire and / or its diameter. For maintenance operations, it is sufficient to remove the insulator, perform the maintenance (for example, changing the post or the body of the device), and replace the insulator on the body, without having to touch the wire itself. The insulating nature of the insulator material protects the user during these operations and ensures the insulation of the electrical wire, thus limiting the risk of short circuits that could compromise the electrical protection.
[0033] In one embodiment, the proximal end is configured to receive the isolator by insertion. This type of connection allows the isolator to be easily positioned on the body and then removed and replaced.
[0034] Preferably, the proximal end is configured to receive the insulator by means of a sliding connection. This type of connection allows the insulator to be easily positioned on the body and then removed and replaced.
[0035] Advantageously, the sliding joint is a single, double, or triple dovetail joint, so as to easily insert the insulator onto the proximal end of the body by sliding, preferably locking the insulator onto the body by friction, and allowing rapid removal of the insulator by sliding. The dovetail sliding joint also ensures that the insulator is locked against longitudinal translation.
[0036] Advantageously, the proximal end comprises a face on which two ribs are formed framing a mortise. This geometry reinforces the longitudinal translational locking of the isolator.
[0037] In another embodiment, the proximal end comprises a face from which extend, in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body, two parallel receiving portions. These two receiving portions are configured to receive the insulator fixed by insertion between them.
[0038] In another embodiment or in addition to the previous ones, the proximal end is configured to receive and hold the isolator using fixing clips and / or fixing hooks.
[0039] The invention also relates to an insulator for a device as described above, said insulator being configured to be removably fixed to the proximal end of the body of said device, preferably by insertion, in particular by a sliding connection, for example a dovetail.
[0040] In a first embodiment, the insulator according to comprises a lower wall and an upper wall extending in parallel planes to each other and a blocking wall extending perpendicularly to said lower wall and said upper wall by being connected to the lower wall and the upper wall by one of its ends, the blocking wall, the lower wall and the upper wall forming an internal space intended to form a closed loop with the proximal end when the insulator is mounted on said proximal end, said internal space being configured to receive an electrically conductive wire.
[0041] Preferably, the isolator includes a stop to block the translation of the isolator when it is inserted by sliding onto the proximal end of the body.
[0042] Preferably, the stop is on the lower or upper wall.
[0043] Preferably, the upper wall includes a recessed imprint forming the stop for the proximal end opposite the lower wall in order to receive a portion of the proximal end and lock it after insertion of the isolator.
[0044] The invention also relates to an assembly of a device as previously presented and an insulator as previously presented, said insulator being mounted on the proximal end of the body of said device.
[0045] Advantageously, the insulator is configured such that the lower and upper walls of the insulator comprise a shape complementary to the proximal end, allowing the insulator to be bonded to said proximal end. Thus, the bond is ensured and the insulator is also locked.
[0046] Preferably, the connection between the proximal end and the insulator is of the insertion type, in particular of the sliding type, for example dovetail (single, double, triple...).
[0047] Preferably, in the case of a sliding connection, the upper wall ensures the blocking of the isolator in translation by forming a stop which comes into contact with the proximal end of the body.
[0048] Alternatively, when the proximal end includes a face from which two parallel receiving portions extend in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body, the insulator is inserted between said two parallel receiving portions, at least one parallel receiving portion having an orifice, said insulator having a drilling, preferably through, the fixing rod being configured to insert into at least one orifice and into the drilling of the insulator to lock it on the proximal end.
[0049] Advantageously, in this embodiment, the insulator is a cylinder in which a notch for receiving the electrically conductive wire of the fence has been formed.
[0050] The invention also relates to an offset accessory in the form of an elongated arm comprising a first end configured to be mounted on the proximal end of a device for attaching wire mesh to a fence post, particularly as described above, and a second end configured to receive an insulator made of an electrically insulating material and configured to receive and retain an electrically conductive wire, particularly an insulator as described above. The arm is shaped so as to move said second end away from the longitudinal axis of the base of the device body when said offset accessory is mounted on the device. The offset accessory allows the electrically conductive wire to be moved away from the post in a given direction, which can be particularly useful at fence corners to allow the wire to continue running along the wire mesh.
[0051] The invention also relates to a fastening accessory comprising a base, a rim, and a fastening ring, said base being intended to be inserted into the insulator before it is installed on the proximal end, the rim allowing the fastening accessory to be retained on the insulator, said fastening ring being configured to receive an end hook of an electrically conductive wire. The fastening accessory allows the electrically conductive wire to be easily and quickly attached to and detached from the device.
[0052] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a device as described above and an isolator as described above and / or an offset accessory and / or an attachment accessory as described above.
[0053] The invention also relates to a fence comprising at least one device as described above, at least one fence post, preferably of the picket or post type, and wire mesh, said at least one device being mounted on said at least one post so as to block at least one wire of said wire mesh against said at least one post.
[0054] In one embodiment, the fence further comprises an electrically conductive wire.
[0055] In one embodiment, the wire may include at one of its ends a band, for example elastic, the free end of which is configured to pass through the insulator and attach to said insulator. Brief description of the drawings

[0074] Fig. 1 illustrates an example of a fence 1 according to the invention, in the position of use.
[0075] The fence 1 preferably comprises several fixing devices 10 according to the invention, of which only one is shown on [Fig.1] for clarity, several posts which are, in this non-limiting example, of the stake type 20 and of which only one is shown on [Fig.1] for clarity, a wire mesh 30 and an electrically conductive wire 40 suitable for carrying a current to electrify the fence.
[0076] The stake 20 is planted along the terrestrial vertical Y. In this example, the stake 20 has a T-shaped section.
[0077] Device 10
[0078] The device 10 is mounted on the stake 20 in order to hold the wire mesh 30 on said stake 20. In the position of use on a stake 20 planted vertically in the ground, as illustrated in [Fig.1], the device 10 extends along a plane PI substantially orthogonal to the terrestrial vertical Y.
[0079] With reference to figures 2 to 4, the device 10 first includes a body 11.
[0080] In the example of figures 5 to 7, the device 10 further includes a fastening system 12.
[0081] Still in the example of figures 5 to 7, the device 10 further includes an isolator 13 (visible only in figures 9 to 12).
[0082] The device 10 may also include an offset accessory 14 (illustrated in figures 13 and 14) and / or a hooking accessory 15 (illustrated in figures 15 and 16).
[0083] Body 11
[0084] Figures 2 to 4 illustrate a first embodiment of body 11.
[0085] The body 11 comprises an elongated base 110 and two fins 120 originating from the same material than base 110, preferably a plastic material.
[0086] The base 110 extends along a longitudinal axis X, parallel to the plane PL. The base 110 has a free end 11 OR and a connecting end 110Z.
[0087] In the embodiments shown in the figures, the two fins 120 extend from the connecting end 110Z of the base 110 in a plane P2 orthogonal to the longitudinal axis X. Alternatively, the fins 120 could have a different shape, for example curved or L-shaped, so as to fit the specific shape of a stake or post, for example of circular or square cross-section.
[0088] The body 11 has a distal end 11D corresponding to the fins 120 and the connecting end 110Z of the base 110. The body 11 also has a proximal end 1 IP opposite to the distal end 11D.
[0089] A portion of material forming a curved reinforcement 115 connects the lower face of each fin 120, located on the side of the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11, to the portion of the base extending between the connecting end 110Z and the free end 11 OR of said base 110.
[0090] In the embodiments shown in the figures, the base 110 includes a slot 112 (see for example in Figures 3 and 4) which extends from the distal end 11D towards the interior of the base 110, passing through the connecting end 110Z along the longitudinal axis X. The two portions of the base 110 located on either side of the slot 112 are connected by a connecting portion 113.
[0091] Each fin 120 includes a fixing hole 121 allowing the passage of a fixing element, for example of the type screw or nail, as illustrated in [Fig.1] (screw) and described below with reference to the fixing system 12.
[0092] Each fin 120 includes, at its free end, a fixing surface 120-1, in which the fixing hole 121 is formed. Each fin 120 includes, at the junction with the connecting end 110Z of the base 110, a flat recess 120-2 allowing in this example to receive at least part of the thickness of a portion of a T-section stake 20 and to allow mounting the fixing system 12, as described below.
[0093] With reference to [Fig.3], a groove 114 is formed in the connecting end 110Z at the junction between each fin 120 and the slot 112. Alternatively, the grooves 114 could be formed directly in the fins 120, for example in the recesses 120-2 or in the fixing surfaces 120-1.
[0094] Each of the two grooves 114 is configured to receive a wire 31 of the wire mesh 30 and to lock said wire 31 when the device 10 is mounted on the stake 20.
[0095] The free end 110R of the base 110 has a shape allowing a dovetail type sliding connection which extends orthogonally to the longitudinal axis X.
[0096] With reference in particular to figures 2 and 4, this sliding connection comprises a mortise 116 and two ribs 118, the mortise 116 and the two ribs 118 extending over the entire thickness of the free end 110R of the base 110. The mortise 116 has a substantially trapezoidal cross-section whose base is directed outwards from the free end 110R.
[0097] The two ribs 118 extend on either side of the mortise 116, also over the entire thickness of the free end 110R of the base 110, partially delimiting said mortise 116 in order to block a complementary shaped portion of the insulator 13 (rib) in the mortise 116 and between the two ribs 118 (dovetail joint), as will be explained below.
[0098] Fastening system 12
[0099] In the example illustrated in particular in figures 1 and 17, the fastening system 12 comprises a plate 12P, two screws 12V and two nuts 12E.
[0100] The plate 12P includes two holes 12-1 arranged to be opposite the two fixing holes 121 of the two fins 120 of the body 11. In other words, the fixing holes 121 of the two fins 120 of the body 11 and the holes 12-1 of the fixing system 12 are configured to be opposite each other when the fixing system 12 is placed opposite the two fins 120 of the body 11.
[0101] Thus, in this configuration, the slot 112 and the space between the fastening system 12 and the body 11 define a space, at least partially T-shaped, for receiving a portion of the T-shaped stake 20, in particular the foot of the T. Each of the two screws 12V is configured to pass through an opening 12-1 in the plate 12P and through the corresponding fastening opening 121 of a fin 120 when the fastening system 12 and the body 11 are positioned opposite each other. Each nut 12E is screwed onto a screw 12P to secure the fastening system 12 to the body 11 of the device 10.
[0102] Alternatively, the body 11 could be fixed directly onto the stake 20 via two screws or two nails passing through the fixing holes 121 of the fins 120, or even be fixed directly onto a wooden post for example.
[0103] Insulator 13
[0104] The insulator 13 is removable relative to the body 11, that is to say it can be inserted and removed intentionally by a user, both when the device 10 is fixed on a stake 20 and when the device 10 is free, for example in a factory or in the trade.
[0105] With reference to Figures 9 to 12, the insulator 13 has a complementary shape to the proximal end 1 IP of the body 10 as shown in Figures 2 to 4.
[0106] The insulator 13 is in the form of a single piece made of a plastic material, for example by 3D printing or by molding, configured both to be mounted on the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11 in a removable manner by sliding connection and to receive the electrically conductive wire 40.
[0107] The insulator 13 comprises a blocking wall 131, a lower wall 132 and an upper wall 133.
[0108] When the device 10 is fixed on the stake 20 with the insulator 13 in place (as shown in [Fig.1]), the blocking wall 131 is parallel to the plane P2 and to the front of the device 10 in the direction of the longitudinal axis X, the lower wall 132 is below the body 11 along the terrestrial vertical Y and the upper wall 133 is above the body 11 along the terrestrial vertical Y.
[0109] The lower wall 132 delimits a cutout 132A which has a shape complementary to that of the proximal end 1 IP of the body 10 in order to be able to insert the insulator 13 on said proximal end 1 IP along the sliding link.
[0110] The cutout 132A thus includes a tenon 134, configured to conform to the mortise 116 of the proximal end 1 IP, and two mortises 135, configured to conform to the two ribs 118 of the proximal end 1 IP.
[0111] The upper wall 133 delimits a cavity 133A which has a shape complementary to the proximal end 1 IP so as to fit into said proximal end 1 IP and block the isolator 13 in translation when it is completely inserted onto the proximal end 1 IP along the sliding link.
[0112] Alternatively, the tenon 134 extends from the lower wall 132 to the upper wall 133 as shown in Figures 11 and 12.
[0113] The locking wall 131 is offset from the proximal end 1IP of the body 11 after the insulator 13 is inserted onto the proximal end 1IP so that the electrically conductive wire 40 can pass through the space between the locking wall 131 and the proximal end 1IP. It should be noted that the electrically conductive wire 40 can be positioned either before or after mounting the insulator 13 onto the proximal end 1IP.
[0114] In the variant shown in figures 11 and 12, the electrically conductive wire 40 is positioned in the space of the insulator 13 delimited by the blocking wall 131, the lower wall 132, the upper wall 133 and the tenon 134.
[0115] In another embodiment not shown in the figures, the insulator 13 could be made of the same material as the body 11 and form a single piece with said body 11.
[0116] Offset accessory 14
[0117] The offset accessory 14 allows the insulator 13 to be offset in order to move it away, for example from a stake 20 planted in a corner or a bend in the fence 30 and thus allow the electrically conductive wire 40 to be turned, for example by 90°, to follow the shape of the terrain.
[0118] In the example of Figures 13 and 14, the offset accessory 14 comprises a mounting base 141, an arm 142, and a bracket 143. The mounting base 141 is configured to insert onto the proximal end 1 IP in the same way as the insulator 13. The bracket 143 is configured so that the insulator 13 inserts onto it in the same way as onto the proximal end 1 IP. The arm 142 allows the bracket 143 to be offset from the mounting base 141 both in the direction of the longitudinal axis X and in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the longitudinal axis X.
[0119] Hanging accessory 15
[0120] The attachment accessory 15 allows the end of an electrically powered wire to be attached conductor 40, especially when it ends with a hook, to insulator 13.
[0121] As shown in Figures 15 and 16, the attachment accessory 15 comprises a locking base 151 and a ring 152. The locking base 151 extends in a plane parallel to plane P2 and includes a stop 151A at one end. The ring 152 extends in a plane parallel to plane PI and is connected to the base 152 on the side opposite the stop 151A.
[0122] The thickness of the base 151 is less than the distance between the blocking wall 131 and the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11 when the insulator 13 is inserted on the body 11. The extension of the base 151 in the direction of the terrestrial vertical Y is less than the distance between the lower wall 132 and the upper wall 133 of the insulator 13.
[0123] Preferably, the extension of the base 151 in the direction of the terrestrial vertical Y is less than the distance between the lower wall 132 and the upper wall 133 of the insulator 13 from which is subtracted the diameter of the electrically conductive wire 40.
[0124] Alternatively, the ring 152 can be directly integrated into the insulator 13.
[0125] In a second embodiment of the body 11 of the device 10, shown in [Fig. 8], in which only the proximal end IIP differs, the free end 110R comprises an edge 119A extending orthogonally to plane PI and the X-axis and configured to receive a complementary shape of an insulator 13, and two receiving walls 119B of substantially semi-circular shape extending from said edge 119A parallel to plane PI and arranged to receive the insulator 13 of [Fig. 8]. In this example, the insulator 13 has a partly cylindrical shape. and includes a retaining hole 13A, passing through it along its length, and a notch 13B for receiving the electrically conductive wire 40. Each receiving wall 119B includes a receiving hole 119B1 so that the two receiving holes 119B1 and the retaining hole 13A are opposite each other in order to retain the insulator 13 on the body 11 by means of a retaining rod or screw 13C.
