Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for recharging an electric vehicle comprising a connection pin
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for recharging an electric vehicle, of the type comprising a current source and a device for supplying current to a battery of the electric vehicle, said supply device comprising at least one arm comprising at one of its ends a connection device, electrically connected to the current source, and intended to be electrically connected to a complementary connection device of the electric vehicle electrically connected to the battery of the electric vehicle, said arm being movable between a retracted position, in which the connection device extends into a storage volume of the recharging device, and a deployed position, in which the connection device extends outside of said storage volume, opposite the complementary connection device of the electric vehicle.
[0002] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising such a charging device and an electric vehicle.
[0003] It is known to provide electric vehicle charging stations, in which an electric vehicle is received and an occupant of the vehicle or an operator connects an electrical power cable to a corresponding socket of the vehicle. Such charging stations thus have the disadvantage that they require the intervention of a user to connect the electric vehicle to a power source.
[0004] To overcome this drawback, a charging station has been proposed, in which an arm carrying an electrical connector is arranged to move autonomously towards a complementary connection device of the vehicle to connect the electrical connector to a socket of the complementary connection device when the electric vehicle is received in the charging station.
[0005] In order to ensure the connection of the electrical connector to the socket of the connection device without user intervention, it is necessary to ensure precise positioning of the arm relative to the complementary connection device. Indeed, if the arm is not aligned with the complementary connection device, the electrical connector cannot penetrate into the socket of the complementary connection device. To ensure this precise positioning, the electric vehicle must be placed exactly at the desired location so that the arm is aligned with the complementary connection device or the position of the arm must be adjustable to adapt to the position of the complementary connection device when the vehicle electric is received in the charging station. Whatever the solution chosen, the charging station has a complex architecture and is not easy to implement.
[0006] One of the aims of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a device for recharging an electric vehicle which can supply current to the vehicle battery in a simple manner, without user intervention and ensuring rapid recharging of the battery.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a recharging device of the aforementioned type, in which the connection device comprises at least one connection pin arranged to supply current to the complementary connection device by pressing against said complementary connection device, said connection pin being intended to be applied against said complementary connection device in the deployed position of the arm.
[0008] By using a connection pin arranged to supply current to the complementary connection device by pressing against the complementary connection device, the charging device can operate autonomously and without requiring precise positioning of the vehicle relative to the arm of the power supply device. Indeed, the electrical connection of the complementary connection device to the current source does not require the introduction of a male connection element into a female connection element since it is sufficient to position the connection pin against the power supply device to ensure this connection. Thus, by choosing appropriate dimensions of the connection pin, the complementary connection device can be placed approximately opposite the connection device of the power supply device as long as this positioning allows the connection pin to come into contact with the complementary connection device. In addition, the charging device is compatible with a very high current intensity, allowing rapid charging of the battery.
[0009] The recharging device according to the invention may further comprise one or more of the following characteristics, taken in isolation or in any technically conceivable combination: - the connection device comprises at least one positive pin, electrically connected to a positive terminal of the current source, and at least one negative pin, electrically connected to a negative terminal of the current source, the positive pin being intended to be applied against a positive pad of the complementary connection device and the negative pin being intended to be applied against a negative pad of the complementary connection device in the deployed position of the arm; - the charging device includes a temperature regulation device temperature of the battery of the electric vehicle, said regulating device comprising a source of regulating fluid and at least one inlet pipe of the regulating fluid in fluid communication with the source of fluid, said inlet pipe comprising a connection connector to an inlet of a circuit for regulating the temperature of the battery of the electric vehicle, said inlet pipe being movable between a retracted position, in which said inlet pipe and the connection connector (50) extend into the storage volume of the recharging device, and a deployed position, in which at least the connection connector extends outside of said storage volume and is connectable to the inlet of the regulation circuit of the electric vehicle; the regulation device further comprises an outlet pipe for the regulation fluid, said outlet pipe comprising a connection fitting to an outlet of the regulation circuit of the electric vehicle, said outlet pipe being movable between a retracted position, in which said outlet pipe and the connection fitting extend into the storage volume of the charging device, and a deployed position, in which at least the connection fitting extends outside of said storage volume and is connectable to the outlet of the regulation circuit of the electric vehicle; the storage volume extends under a floor of the charging device, the electric vehicle being intended to be placed on said floor, so as to place the complementary connection device of the electric vehicle opposite the storage volume, the connection device extending projecting above the floor in the deployed position; the floor comprises a device for receiving at least one wheel of the electric vehicle, the storage volume being positioned relative to said receiving device so that the complementary connection device of the electric vehicle extends opposite the storage volume when the wheel is received in the receiving device; the receiving device is connected to the arm by a connecting device arranged to move the arm from the retracted position to the deployed position when a wheel (68) of an electric vehicle is received in the receiving device; the storage volume is closed by at least one flap movable between a closed position, in which the flap closes the storage volume when the arm is in the retracted position, and an open position, in which the flap releases access to the storage volume when the arm is in the deployed position.
[0010] According to another aspect, the invention also relates to an assembly comprising a charging device as described above and an electric vehicle, comprising a complementary connection device, said complementary connection device being placed opposite the storage volume of the charging device, the connection pin being applied against said complementary connection device in the deployed position of the arm of the power supply device.
[0011] According to an optional characteristic of the assembly, the connection fitting of the inlet pipe of the regulation device is in fluid communication with an inlet of a temperature regulation circuit of the battery of the electric vehicle in the deployed position of the inlet pipe, said temperature regulation circuit being a regulation circuit separate from another regulation circuit isolated inside the electric vehicle.
[0012] Other aspects and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:

[0015] [Fig.3] - [Fig.3] is a schematic representation from above of the device of refill according to the invention,
[0016] [Fig.4] - [Fig.4] is a schematic cross-sectional representation of part of the charging device according to one embodiment of the invention, and
[0017] [Fig.5] [Fig.6] - Figs. 5 and 6 are schematic cross-sectional representations of the charging device of [Fig.l] in different positions of the charging device.
[0018] With reference to [Fig.l], a device 1 for recharging an electric vehicle 2 is described, making it possible to supply an electric battery 4 of the electric vehicle with electricity in order to recharge it. The recharging device 1 is suitable for any type of electric battery 4, such as a lithium-ion battery or other. It should be noted that the recharging device 1 is also particularly suitable for recharging a sodium battery accepting very high intensity charging currents, for example between 2500 A and 3500 A.
[0019] The charging device 1 comprises at least one current source 6 and a power supply device 8 electrically connected to the current source 6. According to an embodiment described later, the charging device 1 further comprises a device 10 for regulating the temperature of the battery of the electric vehicle during charging thereof.
[0020] The current source 6 can be of any type suitable for charging a battery of electric vehicle. According to one embodiment, the current source 6 is more particularly arranged to deliver a current having a significant intensity, for example up to 3500 A.
[0021] The power supply device 8 comprises at least one arm 12 carrying, at one of its ends, a connection device 14 electrically connected to the current source 6. More particularly, the arm 12 extends between an actuating end connected to an actuating device 16 and a free end carrying the connection device 14. The arm 14 is movable in translation so as to be able to move the connection device 14, as will be described later.
[0022] The power supply device 8, and possibly the current source 6, are mounted in a storage volume 20. According to an embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 5 and 6, the storage volume 20 extends under a floor 22 of the charging device, the floor being arranged to receive the electric vehicle 2 during the charging of the battery 4 thereof.
[0023] Such a floor 22 may be formed by the floor of a charging station accommodating the electric vehicles to be charged, in which case the storage volume 20 is for example formed by a housing implanted in the ground. Alternatively, the floor 22 is formed by a platform on which an electric vehicle is positioned to be charged and the storage volume extends inside the platform under the surface for receiving the vehicle. Thus, when the storage volume 20 extends under a floor 22, the storage volume 20 and the power supply device 8 extend under the electric vehicle received on the floor 22 to be recharged. In a variant not shown, the storage volume 20 may be provided in a wall, for example of a charging station or a building, adjacent to the electric vehicle 2 to be charged, in which case the storage volume 20 and the power supply device 8 are provided on one side of the vehicle when the latter is received on the floor 22 to be recharged.
[0024] The storage volume 20 is for example closed by at least one flap 24, or valve, when the recharging device is not in use. The flap 24 is movable relative to the storage volume 20 between a closed position (Fig. 1), in which the flap 24 closes the storage volume 20, and an open position (Figs. 5 and 6), in which the flap 24 releases access from the outside to the storage volume 20. More particularly, when the storage volume 20 extends under a floor 22, the flap 24 in the open position releases access to the storage volume 20 from above the floor 22, which then comprises a through opening opposite the storage volume 20. Thus, according to this embodiment, the flap 24 extends also closes the through opening of the floor 22 in the closed position. The shutter 24 is for example sliding under the floor 22 between the closed position and the open position.
[0025] The arm 12 is movable in translation relative to the storage volume 20 between a retracted position (Figs. 1 and 5), in which the arm 12 and the connection device 14 extend inside the storage volume 20, and a deployed position (Fig. 6), in which the connection device 14 extends outside the storage volume 20 to be brought closer to the electric vehicle to be recharged. More particularly, when the storage volume 20 extends under the floor 22, the connection device 14 extends projecting from the floor 22 above it in the deployed position of the arm 12. In other words, the arm 12 then passes through the through opening of the floor 22 to bring the connection device 14 closer to the electric vehicle to be recharged. When the storage volume 20 extends into a wall, the connection device 14 extends projecting from the wall outside the wall to be brought closer to the electric vehicle to be recharged. The movement of the arm 12 from the retracted position to the extended position occurs when the flap 24 is in the open position and when a vehicle is positioned on the floor 22. The movement of the arm 12 is actuated by the actuating device 16, as will be described in more detail later.
[0026] The connection device 14 is arranged to be electrically connected to a complementary connection device 26 of the electric vehicle 2 when the arm 12 is in the deployed position, as shown in [Fig. 6], so as to transmit an electric current from the current source 6 to the complementary connection device 26. The complementary connection device 26 is electrically connected to the battery 4 of the electric vehicle 2 so that this current is transmitted to the battery 4 in order to recharge the latter, in a known manner. The complementary connection device 26 therefore extends opposite the connection device 14 when the electric vehicle 2 is positioned on the floor 22 and is accessible from outside the electric vehicle 2 so that the connection device 14 can come into contact with it in the deployed position of the arm 12.Thus, when the storage volume 20 extends under the floor 22, the complementary connection device 26 is accessible from a floor 28 of the electric vehicle 2. More particularly, the complementary connection device 26 extends for example in the floor 28 of the electric vehicle 2, as shown in [Fig. 2]. When the storage volume 20 extends in a wall, the complementary connection device 26 is for example accessible from one side of the electric vehicle 2, for example at the front or at the rear thereof.
[0027] When the electric vehicle 2 is not being recharged, the complementary connection device 26 is for example made inaccessible from outside the vehicle by being closed by a flap 30. Such a flap 30, for example provided in the floor 28 of the electric vehicle when the storage volume 20 extends under the floor 22, is then movable between a closed position (not shown), in which the complementary connection device 26 is inaccessible from outside the vehicle, and an open position (Figs. 1, 5 and 6), in which the flap 30 provides access to the complementary connection device 26 from outside the vehicle. The movement of the flap 30 between the closed and open positions is for example controlled electrically or hydraulically by the electric vehicle. According to one embodiment, the flap 30 is moved from the closed position to the open position only when the electric vehicle 2 approaches the charging station or is on the floor 22 of the charging station. The rest of the time, the flap 30 is closed so as to make the complementary connection device 26 inaccessible and to protect it.
[0028] The connection device 14 and the complementary connection device 26 are arranged to ensure an electrical connection between them by pressing the connection device 14 against the complementary connection device 26, that is to say without mechanical connection between the connection device 14 and the complementary connection device 26. By "without mechanical connection", it is meant that the electrical connection between the connection device 14 and the complementary connection device 26 does not require the introduction of a male element into a female element, as is the case with a traditional electrical socket for example.
[0029] For this purpose, the connection device 14 comprises at least one connection pin 32 arranged to be applied against the complementary connection device 26 when the arm 12 is in the deployed position, as shown in [Fig. 6]. More particularly, the connection pin 32 is arranged to be applied against a pad 34 of the complementary connection device, this application ensuring the passage of current between the connection pin 32, electrically connected to the current source 6, and the pad 34, electrically connected to the battery 4 of the electric vehicle.
[0030] The connection pin 32 has, for example, a contact surface with the complementary connection device 26 greater than the surface strictly necessary to ensure the transmission of the current by the contact between the connection pin 32 and the complementary connection device 26. Thus, even if the connection pin 32 and the complementary connection device 26 are not perfectly aligned opposite each other, the transmission of the current from the current source 6 to the electric battery 4 takes place as soon as at least a part of the connection pin 32 is applied against the complementary connection device 26. In other words, the electric vehicle 2 does not need to be placed very precisely relative to the arm 12 for the charging device to operate, as is the case when the electrical connection requires a mechanical connection.Advantageously, the pad 34 of the complementary connection device 26 also has a contact surface with the connection pin 32 su. greater than the surface strictly necessary to ensure the transmission of current by the contact between the connection pin 32 and the pad 34 of the complementary connection device 26. Such an embodiment further reduces the positioning precision required for the electric vehicle 2 relative to the arm 12. It should be noted that, since the position of the arm 12 does not need to be modified to ensure precise alignment between the connection device 14 and the complementary connection device 26, the arm 12 only needs to be movable in one direction between the retracted position and the deployed position, which simplifies the structure of the power supply device 8.
[0031] According to one embodiment, the connection device 14 comprises a positive connection pin 38, electrically connected to a positive terminal of the current source 6, and a negative connection pin 40, electrically connected to a negative terminal of the current source 6. The arm 12 then moves the positive connection pin 38 and the negative connection pin 40 between the retracted position and the deployed position. Similarly, according to this embodiment, the complementary connection device comprises for example a positive pad 42, electrically connected to a positive terminal of the battery 4, and a negative pad 44 electrically connected to a negative terminal of the battery 4.At least a portion of the positive connection pin 38 is then in contact with at least a portion of the positive pad 42 and at least a portion of the negative connection pin 40 is in contact with at least a portion of the negative pad 44 when the arm 12 is in the deployed position and the electric vehicle 2 is received on the floor 22, as shown in [Fig.6]. Alternatively, the power supply device 8 may comprise two arms 12 each carrying one of the positive and negative pins.
[0032] It is understood that the power supply device 8 may also comprise a grounding pin, making it possible to ground the electrical circuit formed by the connection between the connection device 14 and the complementary connection device 26. The complementary connection device 26 then comprises a corresponding pad and the operation of the connection between the grounding pin and the corresponding pad is the same as that described in relation to the positive and negative connection pins and the corresponding pads. It is also understood that the power supply device 8 may be used to pass control signals between the charging device and the recharged vehicle, for example by providing for the establishment of a dedicated connection according to the same principle as that described previously when the arm 12 moves into the deployed position.Alternatively, the connection may be “wireless” and use contactless communication protocols, for example Bluetooth® or other.
[0033] As indicated previously, the recharging device 1 further comprises, according to one embodiment, a device 10 for regulating the temperature of the battery 4 during charging thereof, i.e. when the connection device 14 is electrically connected to the complementary connection device 26. Such a regulating device 10 is arranged to cool the cells of the battery 4 during charging thereof in order to avoid any overheating of the battery 4 when the current from the current source 6 is transmitted to it. According to one embodiment, the regulating device 10 may also be arranged to increase the temperature of the cells of the battery 4, for example before charging takes place, which may help to optimize the charging time of the battery 4.
[0034] The regulating device 10 comprises a source of regulating fluid 46 and at least one inlet conduit 48 for the regulating fluid in fluid communication with the source of fluid 46. The regulating fluid is for example a gas or a liquid, such as air or water. Alternatively, the regulating fluid is a gas or a heat-generating liquid, that is to say it has a better heat capacity than air or water.
[0035] The inlet pipe 48 comprises a connection fitting 50 to an inlet 52 of a regulation circuit 54 for regulating the temperature of the electric battery 4 of the electric vehicle 2. According to one embodiment, the regulation fluid is injected into the regulation circuit 54 in order to circulate the regulation fluid from the regulation fluid source 46 in the regulation circuit 54 when the connection fitting 50 is connected to the inlet 52 of the regulation circuit 54.
[0036] The inlet pipe 48 and possibly the source of regulating fluid 46 are housed in the storage volume 20 and the inlet pipe 48 is movable relative to the storage volume 20 between a retracted position ([Fig.l]), in which the inlet pipe 48 and the connection fitting 50 extend into the storage volume 20, and a deployed position (Figs. 4 to 6), in which at least the connection fitting 50 extends outside the storage volume 20 and is connectable to the inlet 52 of the regulating circuit 54. More particularly, when the storage volume 20 extends under the floor 22, the connection fitting 50 extends projecting from the floor 22 above it in the deployed position of the inlet pipe 48. In other words, the inlet pipe 48 then passes into the through opening of the floor 22 to bring the connection fitting closer to the inlet 52 of the regulation circuit 54.When the storage volume 20 extends into a wall, the connection fitting 50 projects from the wall outside the latter to be brought closer to the electric vehicle 2 to be recharged. The passage of the inlet pipe 48 from the retracted position to the deployed position is done when the flap 24 is in the open position and when a vehicle is positioned on the floor 22. The movement of the inlet pipe 46 is actuated by an actuating device 56, as will be. described in more detail later.
[0037] According to one embodiment, the regulation circuit 54 into which the inlet pipe 48 injects the regulation fluid is the regulation circuit of the vehicle also used when the vehicle is moving. Such a regulation circuit is for example closed inside the vehicle. In this case, the connection connector 50 can be arranged to be simply placed in contact with the inlet 52 to carry out a heat exchange between the regulation fluid circulating in the regulation circuit of the electric vehicle 2 and the regulation fluid circulating in the inlet pipe 48. Alternatively, the connection connector 50 and the inlet 52 can be arranged so that the regulation fluid from the fluid source 46 is injected into the regulation circuit 54.
[0038] According to a preferred embodiment shown in [Fig. 4], the regulation circuit 54 is separate from the isolated regulation circuit 58 inside the vehicle and is only used during the charging of the battery 4 of the electric vehicle 2. In this case, the regulation device 10 further comprises an outlet pipe 60 for the regulation fluid comprising a connection fitting 62 to an outlet 64 of the regulation circuit 54. The outlet pipe 60 is for example in fluid communication with the source of regulation fluid 46.
[0039] In this case, the outlet pipe 60 is also movable, for example with the inlet pipe 48, between a retracted position ([Fig.l]), in which the outlet pipe 60 and the connection fitting 62 extend into the storage volume 20, and a deployed position (Figs. 4 to 6), in which at least the connection fitting 62 extends outside the storage volume 20 and is connectable to the outlet 64 of the regulation circuit 54. Thus, according to this embodiment, the regulation fluid from the fluid source 46 is injected into the regulation circuit 54 via the inlet pipe 48 and its connection fitting 50, circulates in the regulation circuit 54 to cool or heat the cells of the battery 4, and leaves the regulation circuit 54 via the outlet pipe 60 and its connection fitting 62, for example to return to the fluid source 46.When the electric vehicle 2 is not charging and is traveling outside the charging device, the regulation circuit 54 is for example empty, that is to say it does not contain any regulation fluid, the regulation of the temperature of the battery 4 then being carried out by the isolated regulation circuit 58. In this case, the regulation circuit 54 is for example under a gaseous vacuum or under an air pressure greater than 1 bar.
[0040] The regulation circuit 54 has for example a shape arranged so that the regulation fluid circulates around each cell of the battery 4 of the electric vehicle 2. According to one embodiment, each cell of the battery comprises an integrated fluid circuit forming part of the regulation circuit 54 in order to allow heat extraction inside each cell. According to one embodiment, the regulation circuit 54 does not include a branch, that is to say that the regulation fluid circulates directly from the inlet 52 to the outlet 64 without being distributed between different branches of the circuit. Alternatively, the regulation circuit 54 includes one or more branches between the inlet 52 and the outlet 64 so as to parallelize the regulation of the temperature of the cells and thus optimize the regulation of the temperature of the battery 4. In this case, the section of the pipes forming the regulation circuit 54 is for example variable to ensure homogeneous circulation of the regulation fluid in all the branches of the regulation circuit 54.Solenoid valves or equivalent may be provided to control the circulation of the regulating fluid in the different branches of the regulating circuit 54, for example, in order to optimize the heat extraction from the cells according to strategies and prioritization of charges of the cells of the battery 4.
[0041] According to one embodiment, the charging device further comprises a receiving device 66 for at least one wheel 68 of the electric vehicle 2 to ensure the positioning of the electric vehicle 2 in the charging device. Thus, the storage volume 20 is positioned relative to the receiving device 66 so that the complementary connection device 26 of the electric vehicle 2 extends opposite the storage volume 20 when the wheel 68 is received in the receiving device 66, as shown in Figs. 1, 5 and 6. It is however understood that, insofar as the production of the connection device 14 in the form of at least one connection pin 32 makes it possible to ensure an electrical connection with the complementary connection device 26 without requiring mechanical connection, the positioning of the receiving device 66 relative to the storage volume 20 does not need to be very precise.According to one embodiment, the receiving device 66 is arranged to receive two wheels 68 of the electric vehicle 2, for example the front wheels of the vehicle, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
[0042] According to one embodiment, the actuating device 16 of the arm(s) 12 is for example connected to the receiving device 66 so that the arm(s) 12 move to the deployed position only when a wheel 68 is received in the receiving device 66. According to a particular embodiment, the actuating device 16 of the arm(s) 12 may be arranged to move the arm(s) 12 to the deployed position by virtue of the weight of the wheel 68 received in the receiving device. Thus, the actuating device 16 does not require any other energy source to move the arm(s) 12. Alternatively or additionally, the actuating device 56 of the inlet and outlet pipe(s) of the regulating device 10 may also be connected to the receiving device 66 to authorize and / or trigger the movement of the pipe(s) from the retracted position to the position deployed. Similarly, the flap 24 may be arranged to be moved from the closed position to the open position when a wheel 68 is received in the receiving device 66.
[0043] The charging device described above allows the battery 4 of an electric vehicle 2 to be charged quickly and simply. The charging device does not require the intervention of an operator and is compatible with the passage of an electric current having a high intensity, which allows a battery 4, in particular a sodium battery, to be charged quickly. When the storage volume 20 is placed under the floor 22 and the complementary connection device 26 is accessible from below the floor 28 of the electric vehicle 2, the entire charging device is not accessible by people around the vehicle, which makes this charging device safe to use. When no electric vehicle 2 is on the floor 22, the power supply device 8 remains inaccessible from the outside thanks to the use of a flap 24.
