Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Windscreen wiper blade for motor vehicle
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of windscreen wiper blades for glass surfaces, in particular for a windscreen or a rear window of a motor vehicle. More particularly, the invention relates to windscreen wiper blades incorporating a washing liquid projection function.
[0002] Automotive equipment manufacturers are nowadays aiming to integrate functions on windshield wiper blades and in particular nozzles for ejecting washing liquid, the aim being to replace the fixed nozzles conventionally arranged on a lower part of the glazed surface, in particular the windshield or the rear window of the motor vehicle. The fixed nozzles for ejecting washing liquid have the disadvantage of producing a substantially rectilinear jet of liquid having a restricted impact zone of the liquid on the windshield or on the rear window, certain areas of the windshield then being devoid of liquid.
[0003] Windscreen wiper blades are known which are equipped with projection nozzles mounted on the wiper blade so as to project the liquid immediately in front of the latter during its progression. This makes it possible to ensure the passage of a blade of the wiper blade over a surface wetted by the liquid throughout its progression and thus to improve the efficiency of the washing cycle.
[0004] Windscreen wiper blades are also known comprising at least one conduit integrated or attached to the structure of the windscreen wiper blade and pierced with projection orifices, said at least one conduit being integral with the back-and-forth movement of the windscreen wiper blade. These windscreen wiper blades are equipped with a plurality of projection orifices along the entire length of the windscreen wiper blade in order to improve the wettability of the glass surface, in particular by better distribution of the washing liquid to be projected onto the glass surface.
[0005] This integrated conduit can in particular be integrated into elements such as deflectors in the form of a channel passing right through this element. At the ends of this channel are in particular end caps. A first end cap is generally dedicated to ensuring the supply of liquid to the channel and a second opposite end cap is dedicated to blocking the other end of the channel.
[0006] The first end piece allowing the liquid supply is generally arranged in the lower position, that is to say closest to the axis of rotation of the wiper arm. This position allows for easier connection. However, due to the asymmetry of an element such as a deflector, this positioning results in the need to have specific end pieces for the end pieces in lower and upper due to their different functions. In addition, depending on whether it is a left or right windshield wiper, or whether the vehicle is right-hand or left-hand drive, it is necessary to have specific and distinct end caps depending on their function and positioning.
[0007] This leads to complexity from the point of view of the assembly of the windshield wiper but also requires different parts and therefore coming for example from different molds which greatly increases the costs.
[0008] The present invention aims to at least partially overcome the drawbacks of the prior art and to propose an improved windscreen wiper blade with reduced manufacturing and assembly costs.
[0009] To this end, the present invention relates to a windscreen wiper blade for a glass surface of a motor vehicle comprising: - a support mount extending along a longitudinal axis, - a wiping blade mounted on the support frame and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis and intended to rest on the glass surface, - a liquid dispensing and projection device configured to project a liquid onto the glass surface, the dispensing and projection device being fixed to the support frame, the liquid distribution and projection device comprising a channel passing through and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, the liquid distribution and projection device further comprising a lower end piece arranged at a first longitudinal end of the channel and an upper end piece arranged at a second longitudinal end of the channel, the lower end piece and the upper end piece being mirrored to each other, said lower and upper end pieces both comprising an internal channel, a first internal end of the internal channel being fluidically connected to the channel and a second external end of the internal channel comprising a nipple projecting from the lower and upper end piece, the nipple of the lower end piece being configured to allow fluidic connection of the liquid dispensing and spraying device to a liquid supply system of a vehicle.
[0010] According to one aspect of the invention, the nipple is integral with the lower and upper end piece and in that said nipple comprises an end closure wall integral with said nipple, the end closure wall of the nipple of the lower end piece being removed by cutting the end of the nipple so as to allow the fluid connection of the liquid distribution and projection device to a liquid supply system of a vehicle.
[0011] According to another aspect of the invention, the nipple is made of a single material with the end piece. lower and upper end and in that said nipple comprises an end closure wall made of the same material as said nipples, the end closure wall of the nipple of the lower end piece being pierced or struck so as to allow the fluid connection of the liquid distribution and projection device to a liquid supply system of a vehicle.
[0012] According to another aspect of the invention, the internal channel passes through the nipple and opens out, the upper end piece comprising a device for closing the internal channel of its nipple.
[0013] According to another aspect of the invention, the sealing device is a plug inserted into the internal channel of the nipple of the upper end piece.
[0014] According to another aspect of the invention, the closure device is a cover welded to the end of the internal channel of the nipple of the upper end piece.
[0015] According to another aspect of the invention, the liquid distribution and projection device comprises a cannula fixed to the nipple of the lower end piece.
[0016] According to another aspect of the invention, the channel of the liquid distribution and projection device comprises a plurality of projection orifices opening laterally from the liquid distribution and projection device, said plurality of projection orifices being intended to be oriented towards the glazed surface.
[0017] According to another aspect of the invention, the liquid dispensing and projection device extends over at least 80% of the length of the support frame.
[0018] According to another aspect of the invention, the liquid distribution and projection device is also a deflector.

[0030] The following embodiments are examples. Although the description refers to one or more embodiments, this does not necessarily mean that each reference relates to the same embodiment, or that the features apply only to a single embodiment. Single features of different embodiments may also be combined and / or interchanged to provide other embodiments.
[0031] In the present description, certain elements or parameters may be indexed, such as for example first element or second element as well as first parameter and second parameter or even first criterion and second criterion, etc. In this case, it is a simple indexing to differentiate and name elements or parameters or criteria that are close, but not identical. This indexing does not imply a priority of one element, parameter or criterion over another and such names can easily be interchanged without departing from the scope of the present description. This indexing also does not imply an order in time, for example, to assess this or that criterion.
[0032] In the remainder of the description, the longitudinal, vertical and transverse directions indicated in [Fig. 1] by the trihedron (L, V, T) fixed relative to the wiper blade 1 will be adopted, without limitation. The longitudinal direction L corresponds to the main direction of the wiper blade. The transverse direction T and the vertical direction V are perpendicular to each other and to the longitudinal direction L.
[0033] [Fig.l] illustrates a wiping system 1 ensuring the cleaning of a glazed surface of a vehicle, for example a windshield, so as to improve the visibility of a driver of the vehicle, for example in rainy weather or to rid said glazed surface of solid debris attached to the latter. The wiping system 1 extends in a main direction, here a longitudinal direction L, and comprises at least one drive arm 20 comprising at least one free end 201 which carries a wiper blade 2 and a connecting end (not shown), opposite the free end 201 in the longitudinal direction L and connected to the vehicle.
[0034] The drive arm 20 and the wiper blade 2 both extend mainly in the main direction of the wiping system 1, here the longitudinal direction L. The wiper blade 2 is in particular adapted to be driven in rotation by the drive arm 20 against the glazed surface of the vehicle, the drive arm 20 itself being driven in rotation by a motor, not visible, for example an electric motor carried by the vehicle, around a pivot axis A.
[0035] During a wiping cycle, for example on the windshield, the drive arm 20 drives the wiper blade 2 from a “fixed stop” position, i.e. parallel to a windshield pillar, to an “opposite fixed stop” position, i.e. substantially parallel to a windshield pillar. The wiper blade 2 then returns to the “fixed stop” position.
[0036] In order to connect the wiper blade 2 to the free end 201 of the drive arm 20, said wiper blade 2 comprises a connection device 13. The connection device 13 comprises at least one connector (not visible) which carries a blade 6 (visible in FIGS. 2 and 5a to 8) of the wiper blade 2 and an adapter (not visible) pivotally mounted on the connector, the adapter being able to cooperate with the free end 201 of the drive arm 20. It is understood in particular that the blade 6 of the wiper blade 2 is intended to be in contact with the glazed surface of the vehicle. Furthermore, the connector is configured to carry the blade 6, directly or indirectly.
[0037] More particularly and as shown in Figures 1 to 3, the windscreen wiper blade 2 according to the invention comprises a support mount 4 extending in the longitudinal direction L of the windscreen wiper blade 2 as well as the wiping blade 6 intended to be applied to the glazed surface of the motor vehicle.
[0038] The expression “support mount” designates all the elements participating in the mechanical holding of the windshield wiper blade 2 when the latter is a “flat blade” (“Fiat blade”).
[0039] This support mount 4 can thus be formed only by a single flexible stiffening vertebra. In such a case, the wiping blade can be glued to one of the faces of this flexible vertebra. According to an alternative, this support mount 4 can also be formed by two flexible stiffening vertebrae.
[0040] According to another alternative, this support mount 4 can also designate a longitudinal support responsible for interfacing the different components of the windshield wiper blade, such as for example at least one flexible vertebra. According to this alternative, this support mount 4 formed by the support comprises a longitudinal claw into which the wiper blade 6 is introduced.
[0041] The expression “support mount 4” also designates a combination of several of these components. For example, the support mount 4 may be formed by the support comprising a housing in which the flexible vertebra is threaded. More generally, the support mount 4 is the structural element of the windscreen wiper blade on which the device is mounted in particular. connection. The support mount 4 is in particular carrying at least one liquid distribution and projection device 8 in order to spray the glass surface of the vehicle with liquid, in particular windshield washer fluid. This liquid distribution and projection device 8 may have a dual function and in particular have an asymmetrical shape with a leading edge and a trailing edge in order to act as a deflector and make it possible to generate support and press the windshield wiper blade 2 against the glass surface when the vehicle is moving.
[0042] The distribution and projection device 8 is arranged either in the support frame 4 or attached to the support frame 4. The liquid distribution and projection device 8 may in particular extend over at least 80% of the length of the support frame 4, along the support frame 4.
[0043] As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the liquid distribution and projection device 8 comprises in particular a channel 80 passing through and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis L configured to distribute the liquid along the support frame 4.
[0044] However, it is conceivable that the wiper blade 2 comprises several channels 80 of the same length, for example two channels 80 arranged symmetrically on either side of a median longitudinal plane of the wiper blade 2. Such a plane is in particular perpendicular to the support mount 4, more particularly to the vertebra which forms or which the support mount 4 comprises. According to this variant embodiment, each channel 80 can then be dedicated to a direction of sweeping of the arm, among an upward direction and a downward direction.
[0045] The following description of the invention is given in relation to a single channel 80, but this description can also be applied to the structure of a second channel 80, when the windshield wiper blade 2 comprises two.
[0046] In the embodiment illustrated in [Fig.2], the liquid distribution and projection device 8 and the channel 80 extend over the entire length of the support frame 4. The channel 80 extends longitudinally from a first longitudinal termination 801 to an opposite second longitudinal termination 802.
[0047] As shown in Figures 2 to 8, the wiper blade 2 further comprises at each of its longitudinal ends a lower end piece 11 and an upper end piece 12. By lower, here is meant the end piece 11 which is located at the longitudinal end of the wiper blade 2 closest to the pivot axis of the drive arm 20. Thus, only a short length of supply tube of the liquid supply system is necessary to supply the wiper blade with liquid. In contrast, by upper is meant the end piece 12 which is located at the longitudinal end of the wiper blade 2 furthest from the pivot axis of the drive arm 20.
[0048] These end pieces 11, 12 have the function in particular of allowing the assembly, disassembly and possibly the securing of the wiper blade 6 relative to the support mount 4, said wiper blade being able to be replaced by translation of the blade 6 relative to the support mount 4.
[0049] As seen in Figures 4 to 6, the lower end piece 11 also has the function of fluidically connecting the first longitudinal termination 801 of the channel 80 to a liquid supply system (not shown) of the vehicle. The upper end piece 12 also has the function of closing the channel 80 of the liquid distribution and projection device 8.
[0050] The lower end piece 11 and the upper end piece 12 are made mirror images of each other. That is, the lower 11 and upper 12 end pieces are made with a similar structure and adapted a posteriori according to their position on the wiper blade 2.
[0051] The lower 11 and upper 12 end caps both comprise an internal channel 111, 121, visible in Figures 2, 6 and 8. A first internal end of the internal channel 111, 121 is fluidly connected to the channel 80 and a second external end of the internal channel 111, 121 comprises a stud 110, 120 projecting from the lower and upper end cap 11, 12.
[0052] The nipple 110 of the lower end piece 11 is notably configured to allow the fluid connection of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 to a liquid supply system of a vehicle.
[0053] The fact that the lower 11 and upper 12 end pieces are made mirror images of each other makes it possible in particular to have only two types of parts to be manufactured. Indeed, the determination of whether the end piece is upper or lower and therefore connected or not to a liquid supply or is closed is carried out a posteriori depending on whether it is a right or left windscreen wiper 2, the clockwise or anti-clockwise direction of their pivoting or whether it is a right-hand or left-hand drive vehicle.
[0054] The liquid comes from a supply system external to the wiper blade which comprises a reservoir (not shown), a liquid circulation pump (not shown) and a supply tube 50 (visible in [Fig. 4]). The supply tube can be directly connected to the nipple 110 of the lower end piece 11. Conversely, the wiper blade 2 can comprise a cannula 64 as illustrated in [Fig. 4], connected to the nipple 110 of the lower end piece 11 and to which the supply tube 50 is connected. The cannula 64 can be fixed to the nipple 110 by various means capable of ensuring a sealed connection, for example by welding, gluing or force insertion. Several orientations of the cannula 64 are also conceivable, in particular with respect to the longitudinal axis L. For example, the cannula can be arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis L or perpendicularly.
[0055] The liquid stored in the reservoir is circulated within the supply tube 50 by means of the circulating pump to supply the liquid distribution and projection device 8 of the windscreen wiper blade 2. The supply tube 50 is thus fluidically connected to the internal channel 111 of the lower end piece 11 of the windscreen wiper blade 2 by means of an inlet cannula 64.
[0056] The first longitudinal termination 801 of the channel 80 is fluidically connected to the first lower end piece 11, the latter being configured to allow the fluidic connection of the channel 80 to a liquid supply system of a vehicle, as described previously. More precisely, the internal channel 111 of the lower end piece 11 is fluidically connected to the first longitudinal termination 801 of the channel 80 of the liquid distribution and projection device 8.
[0057] The second longitudinal termination 802 of the channel 80 is fluidically connected to the internal channel of the second upper end piece 12.
[0058] The fact that the liquid supply system and more particularly the supply tube 50 is connected to the lower end piece 11 of the windscreen wiper blade which is arranged close to the pivot axis A of the drive arm 20, advantageously makes it possible to have a reduced length of the supply tube 50 of the liquid supply system and thus to obtain a less expensive windscreen wiper blade.
[0059] The nipple 110, 120 may in particular come from the same material as the lower and upper end piece 11, 12.
[0060] According to a first embodiment, illustrated in particular in figures 5a to 8, the lower and upper end pieces 11, 12 are made so that the stud 110, 120 comprises an end closure wall 123 made of the same material as said stud 110, 120. As illustrated in figures 5a and 5b, the end closure wall 123 of the stud 110 of the lower end piece 11 is then removed, in particular by cutting the end of the stud 110 along a plane P so as to allow the fluid connection of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 to the liquid supply system of a vehicle. This cutting can for example be carried out by mechanical means or by laser at the same time as a step of perforating projection orifices 10 in the channel 80. The end closure wall 123 of the nipple 120 of the upper end piece 12 can be left intact in order to close its internal channel 121.
[0061] According to a variant not shown, the end wall closing the nipple 110 of the lower end piece 11 can be pierced or struck, for example by the insertion of the cannula 64, so as to allow the fluidic connection of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 to the liquid supply system of a vehicle.
[0062] According to a second embodiment, illustrated in particular in [Fig. 2], the lower and upper end pieces 11, 12 are made so that the internal channel 111, 121 passes through the nipple 110, 120 and is open. The upper end piece 12 then comprises a device 124 for closing the internal channel 121 of its nipple 120. This closing device 124 is inserted a posteriori.
[0063] According to a first variant illustrated in [Fig.2], the closure device 124 may be a plug inserted into the internal channel 121 of the nipple 110 of the upper end piece 12.
[0064] According to a second variant not illustrated, the closure device 124 may be a cover welded to the end of the internal channel 121 of the stud 120 of the upper end piece 12.
[0065] To allow liquid distribution over at least 80%, preferably 100%, of the length of the support frame 4, the channel 80 can bypass the connection device 13. More specifically, the liquid distribution and projection device 8 can comprise a notch so that the connection device 13 can be fixed to the support frame 4. The channel 80 is thus continuous from its first longitudinal end 801 to its second longitudinal end 802 of the channel 80.
[0066] The channel 80 more particularly comprises a plurality of projection orifices 10 arranged in a wall of the liquid distribution and projection device 8. These projection orifices 10 may be arranged on a longitudinal portion of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 and in particular over the entire length of the support mount 4. More precisely, the projection orifices 10 may extend longitudinally from the first end piece 11 to the second end piece 12.
[0067] The projection orifices 10 may in particular be configured to project the liquid onto the glass surface during a back-and-forth movement of the windshield wiper blade 2. In other words, the channel 80 comprising these projection orifices 10 forms a liquid projection ramp.
[0068] The shape and orientation of these projection orifices are adapted so that the liquid projects over the entire length of the windscreen wiper blade 2 and also over the length of the part of the windscreen wiper blade without projection orifices.
[0069] It will be noted that each projection orifice 10 can be separated at a regular pitch, that is to say separated by the same distance or else irregularly depending on requirements.
[0070] As seen in [Fig.2], the projection orifices 10 are openings through which the liquid from the channel 80 is projected. Generally, the beam of the liquid projected at the outlet of a projection orifice 10 forms an impact on the glass surface. All of the beams of liquid projected at the outlet of the projection orifices 10 form an impact line substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the wiper blade 2.
[0071] Generally, the liquid projection directions are parallel with respect to a plane perpendicular to the direction L of the channel 80. Thus the beams of liquid projected at the outlet of these projections 10 form an impact line substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction L of the windscreen wiper blade 2 and opposite the part of the windscreen wiper blade 2 provided with the liquid projection and distribution device 8.
[0072] However, to improve wettability, the liquid spray directions may also be inclined relative to a plane perpendicular to the direction L of the channel 80.
[0073] The projection orifices 10 are for example of circular section, and extend along their central axis. Alternatively, such a section of the projection orifices may be of oblong, conical or even tetrahedral shape.
[0074] Advantageously, such an arrangement and design of the projection orifices 10 allows the distribution of the liquid over the entire length of the wiper blade 2, whether it is the part of the wiper blade 2 without or provided with a liquid projection and distribution device 8.
[0075] The distribution of the liquid on the window is therefore improved for better wettability and more efficient and faster cleaning in particularly difficult conditions linked for example to the presence on the windshield of frost or stubborn dirt, such as crushed insect residues, and this over the entire length of the windshield wiper blade 2, while reducing the costs linked to the design and manufacture of such a windshield wiper blade 2.
[0076] According to a variant not shown, the channel 80 of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 may be discontinuous between its first longitudinal end 801 and its second longitudinal end 802. Indeed, the liquid distribution and projection device 8 may be in two sections separated by the connection device 13. The connection device 13 may then comprise a separate channel in order to allow the fluidic connection between the two sections of the liquid distribution and projection device 8 and more precisely of its channel 80. The separate channel of the connection device 13 may also comprise at least one projection orifice like the channel 80.
[0077] The invention as just described cannot, however, be limited to the means and configurations exclusively described and illustrated, and also applies to all equivalent means or configurations and to any combination of such means or configurations.
