Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: DOOR WITH HIDDEN FRAME FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE Technical field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to a hidden frame door for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, and to a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, comprising such a door. Technical background
[0002] Generally, a vehicle door comprises a frame having a lower box, and a window which is movable from a lower position in which it is at least partly housed in the lower box, and an upper position in which it is mainly located above the box.
[0003] In the field of vehicles, particularly automobiles, there are three types of doors.
[0004] According to a first type of door, the door frame comprises an upper peripheral frame which is intended to surround the window when it is in its upper position. This frame generally comprises two vertical uprights connected by an upper crosspiece, the vertical uprights extending between the box and the upper crosspiece. A door according to this first type is called a "(visible) frame door".
[0005] In the automotive field, a "flush" appearance is also considered to be an aesthetic aspect. This appearance is obtained by aligning two external or exterior faces (visible to a user outside the vehicle) of two adjacent elements (bodywork and / or window), without an intermediate piece that would be inserted between these faces. This allows for continuity of these faces and therefore a visual impression of a smooth and aerodynamic surface.
[0006] The first type of door, with a visible frame, is very widespread but its disadvantage is that it is not possible to obtain a "flush" effect with this type of door, because of its frame.
[0007] According to a second type of door, the door frame does not include an upper peripheral frame. A door according to this second type is called a "frameless door". The advantage of this type of door is that it is possible to obtain a "flush" effect, for example with a trim adjacent to the window when it is in the upper position.
[0008] According to a third type of door, the door frame comprises an upper peripheral frame but this frame is intended to be hidden. The frame can be hidden by the glass, by trims, or by the slide. The frame is for example hidden by the glass when it is in its upper position. The glass has an outer face facing the outside of the door, and an inner face which is facing the inside of the door and which covers the frame to hide it from users outside the vehicle. A door according to this third type is called a "hidden frame door" or "hidden frame door with a frameless door appearance", and the present application relates to such a door.
[0009] A window comprises a peripheral edge, a portion of which extends along a vertical upright of the frame of the frame. To guide the window in its movements, along this vertical upright, it is known to provide a window guide on the window and a slide on the vertical upright, the window guide cooperating by sliding with the slide.
[0010] The glass guide is fixed on the inner face of the glass and extends along a portion of the peripheral edge of the glass and the vertical upright.
[0011] The slide generally extends all around the frame, in particular to ensure a seal between the window and the frame in the upper position. A part of the slide is fixed to the vertical upright and cooperates with the window guide to guide the window.
[0012] The present invention proposes an improvement to this type of hidden frame door, which in particular makes it easier to assemble the door. Summary of the invention

[0061] Figures 1 and 2 show a door 10 with a hidden frame as well as a part of a vehicle, in particular an automobile, on which this door 10 is mounted.
[0062] The vehicle part is here a structure 12 intended to be located on a left side of the vehicle and comprising housings 14, 16 for mounting doors. One of the housings 14 is a housing for the door 10 which is a front door in the example shown, and the other of the housings 16 is a housing for a rear door which is not shown in the drawings.
[0063] The two housings 14, 16 are separated by a column of the structure 12, which is substantially vertical and which is called “middle foot” 18.
[0064] It is understood that the doors are hinged on the structure 12 so that they can be opened and closed and thus allow access to users entering the

[0075] vehicle through accommodations 14, 16. In the present application, a distinction is made between the interior and the exterior of the vehicle and an interior direction or orientation, therefore oriented towards the interior of the vehicle, is also distinguished from an exterior direction or orientation, oriented towards the exterior of the vehicle. In the XYX orthogonal coordinate system, the X axis is oriented in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle from rear to front. The Y axis is oriented towards the inside of the vehicle and the Z axis is oriented upwards. The center pillar 18 extends along the Z axis and may be parallel to this axis. To improve the aesthetics of the vehicle, it is known to mount hubcaps visible from the outside of the vehicle. This is particularly the case of the hubcap 20 which is mounted on an upper part of the B-pillar 18 at least and which covers this B-pillar on the side outside the vehicle. The hubcap 20 is fixed to the B-pillar by appropriate means. The hubcap 20 comprises an outer face 20a visible from the outside of the vehicle. The hubcap 20 may be formed from one or more pieces. As for gate 10, it includes: - a frame 22, - a 24 movable window, - a 26 glass guide, and - a slide 28. The door 10 may include other elements such as a handle 30, a rearview mirror 32, a window drive system 34, which are visible in the drawings, but also other elements which are not necessarily visible such as a trim, etc. The frame 22 may be formed by assembling several parts. The frame 22 comprises: - a lower box 22a, and - an upper peripheral frame 22b. The frame 22b may have a general L, V or U shape and include at least a first vertical upright 36. The frame 22b may further include an upper cross member 40 and a second vertical upright 38. The vertical uprights 36, 38 extend substantially along the Z axis from the box 22a. The vertical uprights 36, 38 may have different lengths along this X axis, as is the case in the example shown. The crosspiece 40 extends substantially along the axis X between the uprights 36, 38, and in particular between their ends opposite the box 22a. In the example shown, the first vertical upright 36 is a vertical upright rear which is intended to extend along the middle pillar 18 when the door 10 is closed.
[0076] The lower box 22a is intended to be located in the lower part of the housing 14 and the frame 22b is intended to extend around the edge of the rest of the housing 14, when the door 10 is closed.
[0077] The window 24 is movable from a lower position in which it is at least partly housed in the lower box 22a, and an upper position in which the frame 22b is hidden by the window 24. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate this upper position.
[0078] The window 24 comprises an outer face 24a facing the outside of the door 10 and the vehicle, an inner face 24b facing the inside of the door 10 and the vehicle, and a peripheral edge 24c which extends all around the window 24 between its faces 24a, 24b.
[0079] A portion of the inner face 24b of the window 24 completely covers the vertical upright 36.
[0080] A portion of the peripheral edge 24c extends along this upright 36 when the window is in its upper position.
[0081] The window guide 26 is fixed on the inner face 24b of the window 24 and extends along this part of the peripheral edge 24c.
[0082] The slide 28 is able to cooperate with the window guide 26 to guide the window 24 when it moves.
[0083] The slide 28 may have a shape similar to that of the frame 22b and have a general L, V or U shape. The slide 28 may comprise a first substantially vertical portion 42 which extends along the vertical upright 36 and which is fixed to the latter.
[0084] The slide 28 may further comprise an upper transverse part 44 and a second substantially vertical part 46.
[0085] The portions 42, 46 extend substantially along the Z axis. The portions 42, 46 may have different lengths along this Z axis, as is the case in the example shown.
[0086] The transverse part 44 extends substantially along the axis X between the parts 42, 46, and in particular between their ends opposite the box 22a. The ends of the parts 42, 46 located on the side of the box 22a are intended to be housed in this box 22a.
[0087] In the example shown, the part 42 of the slide 28 is a rear vertical part which is intended to extend along the vertical upright 36, and the middle leg 18 when the door 10 is closed.
[0088] [Fig.3] represents a first case of a flush aspect in which the face exterior face 24a of the window 24 is aligned with the exterior face 20a of the trim 20. It can also be seen in this figure that these faces 24a, 20a can also be aligned with the exterior face 48a of another window 48. This window 48 is for example movable and is for example part of the aforementioned door for closing the rear housing 16 of the vehicle.
[0089] [Fig.4] is a sectional view along line II of [Fig.2] or II-II of [Fig.3] and shows the assembly and positioning of the various parts of the door 10, of the structure 12, and of the trim 20, when this door 10 is in the closed position.
[0090] In this figure, the parts already described in the above are designated by the same references.
[0091] As regards the vertical upright 36, it may comprise a tab 36a which is oriented outwards while being hidden by the window 24, and which furthermore extends substantially parallel to the axis Z. The tab 36a is preferably parallel to the plane ZOY.
[0092] In the example shown, the upright 36 is covered on the inside by a trim 50 which is therefore visible from inside the vehicle and is intended to improve the aesthetics of the passenger compartment of the vehicle. This trim 50 may be in the form of a U-shaped or C-shaped cover which is mounted by clipping or hooking onto the upright 36. In the example shown, the trim 50 comprises two hooks 50a, 50b for fixing to the upright 36, these hooks 50a, 50b extending over two longitudinal edges of the trim 50 which extend along the axis Z. One of these hooks 50a, located on the side opposite the center pillar 18, bears on an edge of the upright 36, and the other of these hooks 50b is located on the side of the center pillar 18.
[0093] A sealing system such as a sealing tube 52 can be mounted between the upright 36 and the center pillar 18, or between the trim 50 and the center pillar 18, in particular at the level of this other hook 50b.
[0094] A sealing tube is an elongated element, which extends here in particular along the Z axis, and which is made of a flexible and deformable material capable of cooperating by pressing with at least one part in order to ensure a seal with this part. The concept of tube is linked to the fact that it defines an internal cavity which is compressible along its axis of elongation.
[0095] The window guide 26 is formed from a single piece and generally comprises a base 26a for fixing to the window 24, and a finger 26b for guiding in the slide 28. The base 26a is applied to the inner face 24b of the window 24 and fixed thereto generally by gluing.
[0096] The finger 26b projects from the base 26, towards the inside of the vehicle, and has a general L or U shape. The finger 26b comprises a first wall 26b 1 perpendicular to the window 24, which extends inwards from the base 26a, and which is connected to a second wall 26b2 parallel to the window 24 and which extends from the first wall 26b 1 towards the aforementioned part of the peripheral edge 24c of the window 24. As in the example shown, the finger 26b may comprise a third wall 26b3 perpendicular to the window 24, which extends outwards from the second wall 26b2. The finger 26b thus has a general U-shape.
[0097] The first wall 26b 1 comprises lateral faces parallel to each other. The second wall 26b2 comprises parallel faces, respectively inner and outer. The third wall 26b3 comprises lateral faces parallel to each other.
[0098] The inner face 24a of the window 24 may be coated with an opaque or opacifying layer 53 produced by screen printing or painting, in particular at the level of the fixing zone of the window guide 26. The base 26a of the window guide 26 may be fixed directly onto this layer 53. The layer 53 may extend to the aforementioned part of the peripheral edge 24c.
[0099] The slide 28 and in particular its part 42 comprises: - sealing lips 54, 56, 60, 62, 64, 66, and - a clamp 70 for fixing on the vertical upright 36.
[0100] The particularity of the slide 28 and in particular of its part 42 is that it is formed from a single piece, preferably by extrusion.
[0101] The clamp 70 has an elongated shape along the vertical upright 36 and has a U-shape in section, the opening of which is oriented towards the inside of the door 10.
[0102] The clamp 70 is configured to be engaged on the leg 36a of the upright 36.
[0103] The clamp 70 comprises two parallel side walls 72, 74 which extend along the vertical upright 36 and a middle wall 76 which connects the side walls 72, 74 to each other and which is parallel and opposite the inner face 24b of the window 24. The U-shape of the clamp 70 is defined by these walls 72, 74, 76.
[0104] The walls 72, 74 are parallel to the plane ZOY. The wall 76 is perpendicular to the walls 72, 74 and parallel to the plane XOZ.
[0105] The clamp 70 is hidden by the window and the wall 76 is located a short distance from the window 24. The distance between the wall 76 and the inner face 24b of the window 24 is for example less than or equal to 1 cm, and preferably less than or equal to 5 mm.
[0106] One of the side walls, namely the wall 72, is located on the side of the glass guide 26, and the other of the side walls, namely the wall 74, is located on the side opposite the glass guide 26.
[0107] The wall 74 may be aligned with the aforementioned part of the peripheral edge 24c of the window, in a plane PI perpendicular to the window 24, as in the example shown. More particularly, the wall 74 comprises an internal face 74a located in the opening of the U and an external face 74b which is located in said plane PL.
[0108] The wall 72 comprises an internal face 72a located in the opening of the U and a face external 72b.
[0109] The slide 28 comprises a housing 80 which extends along the vertical upright 22 and which receives a part of the window guide 26, this housing 80 being adjacent to the clamp 26.
[0110] The housing 80 is at least partly delimited by the wall 72, and in particular its face 72b, as well as by an extension 82 of the wall 76 which extends towards the window guide 26.
[0111] The extension 82 extends parallel to the inner face 24b of the window 24. The distance between the extension 82 and the inner face 24b of the window 24 is equal to the aforementioned distance between the wall 76 and the inner face 24b of the window 24.
[0112] The extension 82 comprises a free end 82a opposite the wall 72, this free end 82a comprising a rim 84 which is oriented towards the inside of the door 10 and which extends along the vertical upright 36.
[0113] The outer face 82b of the extension 82 and the outer face 76b of the wall 76 extend in continuity with one another and face the inner face 24b of the window 24. These faces 82b, 76b may be coated with flocking 86 and / or a coating which may be smooth or embossed 88 ([Fig.8]).
[0114] The rim 84 comprises two lateral faces parallel to each other and to the ZOY plane, and an inner face which extends between these two lateral faces.
[0115] The rim 84 may comprise or carry at least one sealing lip 60 which cooperates by pressing with the window guide 26 and for example with one of the lateral faces of the second wall 26b 1.
[0116] The window guide 26 is able to cooperate with the slide 28 in order to guide the window 24 during its movements. This guidance is ensured by the window guide 26 pressing and sliding on the slide 28 and in particular on its edge 84 in the example shown. The window guide 26 presses on the edge 84 in a direction perpendicular to the window 24 (i.e. parallel to the plane ZOY) and / or in a direction parallel to the window 24 (i.e. parallel to the plane ZOX).
[0117] In the example shown, one of the lateral faces of the wall 26b3 of the window guide 26 bears along the X axis on one of the lateral faces of the rim 84, and the outer face of the wall 26b2 of the window guide 26 bears along the Y axis on the inner face of the rim 84 or inner face of the leg 100 which will be described in more detail below.
[0118] In the example shown, the clamp 70 is reinforced and therefore comprises an internal reinforcement 88 which may be a metal core. This reinforcement 88 preferably extends in the walls 72, 74, 76 of the clamp 70 as well as in the extension 82. The reinforcement 88 extends along the upright 36 over the entire length of the slide 28 and in particular of its part 42. The reinforcement 88 may comprise a first U-shaped part 88a located in the walls 72, 74, 76 of the clamp 70, and another flat part 88b extending from the wall 76 to the extension 88. The parts 88a, 88b are integral with each other and for example welded together.
[0119] The clamp 70 comprises or carries sealing lips or tubes 62, 64, 66, 90, 92.
[0120] The lips or tubes 62, 64, 66, 90 are located outside the clamp 70 and cooperate for example with the edge 24c of the window, and / or the trim 20, and / or the center pillar 18, and / or the upright 36, and / or a peripheral edge of the rear door window.
[0121] The lip 62 extends for example from the connection between the walls 74, 76 and cooperates with the edge 24 of the window 24. The lip 64 extends for example from the wall 74 and cooperates with the trim 20. The lips 62, 64 join in the example shown to form a sealing tube.
[0122] The lip 66 extends for example from the end of the wall 74 opposite the wall 76, and also cooperates with the trim 20. The lip 66 extends for example from the end of the wall 74 opposite the wall 76, and also cooperates with the upright 36.
[0123] The lips 92 are located inside the clamp 70 and extend from the internal faces of the walls 72, 74 to cooperate with the tab 36a. One of the walls, namely the wall 72 in the example shown, preferably comprises a hook 94 oriented towards the opposite wall 74. This hook 94 is intended to cooperate with a puncture 96 of the tab 36a to improve the fixing and in particular the anchoring of the slide 28 on the upright 36.
[0124] The tab 36a bears along the Y axis on the inner face of the wall 76 and / or along the X axis on the inner face of the wall 72 or on an internal boss 98 of the latter.
[0125] In the example shown, the slide 28 further comprises a leg 100 which extends along the vertical upright 36 and which is covered by the inner face 24b of the window 24.
[0126] The leg 100 has an end 100a connected to the clamp 70 and an opposite end 100b which is connected to the vertical upright 36 and / or to the hubcap 50.
[0127] The leg 100 extends at least partly parallel to the window 24 and to its inner face 24b.
[0128] More particularly, the leg 100 essentially comprises two adjacent parts, namely a part 100a located on the side of the clamp 70 and a part 100b located on the opposite side.
[0129] The part 100a is parallel to the window 24 and to its inner face 24b and defines at least in part the housing 80. The part 100 is parallel to the extension 82 and extends at a distance along the Y axis from the rim 84 which is defined so as to be able to mount and slide the window guide 26 in the housing 80. The face of this part 100a facing outwards and towards the window guide 26 may be coated with flocking. The face of this part 100a oriented towards the interior can be supported along the Y axis on the upright 36.
[0130] The leg 100 and in particular its part 100a is connected to the clamp 70 at the free end of its wall 72, opposite the wall 76. The connection between the leg 100 and the clamp 70 is preferably thinned and therefore comprises a thinning of its thickness along the Y axis.
[0131] The leg 100 and in particular its part 100b comprises, on the side opposite the clamp 70, a notch 102 in which the hook 50a of the trim 50 is engaged. This notch 102 opens for example in a direction parallel to the axis X and on the side opposite the clamp 70.
[0132] The part 100b of the leg 100 may be slightly inclined relative to the part 100a and may comprise sealing lips 54, 56 which cooperate by pressing with the inner face 24b of the window 24 and / or the window guide 26, for example at its base 26a.
[0133] The sealing lips 54, 56, but also at least some of the sealing lips 60, 62, 64, 66, 90, 92 are made of a more flexible material than the clamp 70, and / or the leg 100.
[0134] When assembling the door 10, the slide 28 can be pre-mounted on the window 24 by engaging the window guide 26 in the housing 82 of the slide 28. The assembly is mounted on the frame 22 of the door 10. Then the clamp 70 is mounted on the tab 36a by exerting a force on the window 24 inwards in a direction along the Y axis, until the hook 94 of the clamp 70 engages or cooperates with the notch 96 of the tab 36a. The trim 50 is assembled at a later stage once the slide 28 is in its final position. The hook 50a of the trim 50 is then engaged in the notch 102 of the slide 28 and, if necessary, in a housing of the tube 52.
[0135] Figures 5 to 9 illustrate alternative embodiments of the door 10.
[0136] The following description focuses on the differences between these variants and the embodiment of [Fig. 4]. It can therefore be considered that the description of [Fig. 4] applies to figures 5 to 9 to the extent that it does not contradict what follows.
[0137] In Figures 5 to 9, the trim 50 is absent or not shown.
[0138] The leg 100 and in particular its part 100b comprises, on the side opposite the clamp 70, a boss 104 for bearing on the upright 36, the bearing being carried out inwards along the Y axis. The leg 100 and in particular its part 100b further comprises a fixing and sealing lip 106 which extends from the free end of the leg 100, opposite the clamp 70, and which is curved in the direction of the clamp 70 to bear on the upright 36, the bearing being carried outwards along the Y axis.
[0139] It can be seen in the drawings that the upright 36 comprises a second leg 36b which is oriented in the X axis towards the side opposite to the leg 36a, and which is interposed between the boss 104 and lip 106.
[0140] In Figures 5 to 9, it can also be seen that the wall 72 of the clamp 70 comprises an outer part 72x, connected to the wall 72, which is perpendicular to the wall 76 and to the window 24, and an inner part 72y which extends from the outer part 72x towards the inside and which is inclined to increase the transverse dimension of the opening of the U of the clamp 70 at the free ends of the walls 72, 74. The hook 94 is located at the free end of this inclined inner part 72y.
[0141] In Figures 5 to 9, it can also be seen that the wall 74 is spaced from the plane PI passing through the part of the peripheral edge 24c of the window 24. The distance between the external face of the wall 74 and the plane PI is preferably less than or equal to 1 cm, and for example less than or equal to 5 mm, this distance being measured along the axis X.
[0142] The variant of [Fig.6] differs from that of [Fig.5] in that the trim 20 carries, at its outer face 20a, a fixed window 108 whose outer face 108a is aligned and therefore flush with the outer face 24a of the window 24. The window 108 can be fixed by gluing to the trim 20 for example. Preferably, the window 108 is covered on its inner face 108b with a concealing layer 53 such as screen printing or paint, so as to mask the trim 20.
[0143] Alternatively, the window 108 could be fixed directly to the center pillar 18 of the structure 12 or could be part of a rear door 110 of the vehicle as is the case in [Fig. 10]. In this case, the portion of window hidden by the paint / screen printing 18 is limited to a width making it possible to mask the area opposite the center pillar 18 and the frame of the rear door 110.
[0144] Alternatively, the window 108 could be fixed directly to the center pillar 18.
[0145] The variant of [Fig.7] illustrates some differences from the variants of Figures 4 and 5.
[0146] A first difference concerns the glass guide 26. The finger 26 of the glass guide 26 comprises walls 26b1, 26b2 but does not comprise a wall 26b3. The finger 26 thus has a general L-shape rather than a U-shape.
[0147] Another difference concerns the extension 82 of the clamp 70 which does not include a rim 84. The wall 26b2 of the window guide 26 rests on the inner face of the extension 82, towards the outside along the Y axis.
[0148] Furthermore, the leg 100 comprises a rim 110 which is oriented towards the window 24 and on which the window guide 26 is able to come to bear in a direction parallel to the window 24.
[0149] The rim 110 extends outwardly from the leg 100, in a ZOY plane. The rim comprises two lateral faces, one of which is oriented towards the clamp 70 and partly defines the housing 80 for receiving the window guide 26. The internal lateral face 110a of this rim 110, which opens into the housing 80, may comprise flocking.
[0150] The lateral face of the wall 26bl of the window guide 26, opposite the clamp 70, bears on the rim 110 and in particular on its face 110a or its flocking, along the axis X.
[0151] Furthermore, as can also be seen in [Fig.7], the clamp 70 may not be reinforced but rather made of a harder material than the rest of the slide 28, and in particular its leg 100. The clamp 70 with its extension 82 is for example made of PP.
[0152] The variant of [Fig.8] differs from that of [Fig.5] in that the outer face 82b of the extension 82 and the outer face 76b of the wall 76 are coated with flocking 86 in [Fig.5] and with a bumpy coating 88 in [Fig.8].
[0153] The variant of [Fig.9] differs from that of [Fig.5] in that the lips 62, 64 join in [Fig.5] to form a sealing tube, and remain independent in [Fig.8]. This is also the case for the lips 62, 64 of [Fig.7] which are independent of each other.
