AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing methods for transporting wet canvases risk damaging the artwork due to prolonged drying times of oil or acrylic paints, as they either leave holes or allow large areas of the canvas to come into contact with the transport surface, leading to paint spread and potential damage.

Method used

A device with 'V' shaped supports from below and above, along with a handle, securely holds two canvases face-to-face, minimizing contact with the wet painted surface and preventing paint spread during transport.

Benefits of technology

Effectively transports two wet canvases without risking damage by maintaining firm support and reducing contact with the painted surface, ensuring safe transit from painting location to drying/storage area.

Abstract

Wet canvas transport device. Device for transporting painters' canvases in progress, therefore still wet and therefore susceptible to damage by contact with any object. The painter who wishes to transport a canvas in progress, which is not yet dry, risks damaging it if he does not protect the wet surface. The main use of the Wet Canvas Carrier is the transport of two wet canvases face to face so that they protect each other. The fixed part at the bottom and the two movable parts at the top allow, thanks to their characteristic concave V shapes, to firmly hold the transported canvases. Description

Title of the invention: Device for transporting wet canvases

[0001] The “Device for transporting wet canvases” allows the transport of two canvases, of wet or damp paint, without risk of damaging the works in progress. It allows two wet canvases to be moved between the place where a painting is being done and the home for drying and storage. The device consists of a square rod approximately 50 centimetres long and 16 mm in cross-section, with at its lower end a fixed piece which comprises two "V" shaped parts on either side of the square rod. At the other end of the square rod there is a fixed handle, which allows manual transport. On the square rod, between the lower part and the handle, there are two movable parts characterized by their inverted "V" shape, independent of each other, which slide and can be locked at different heights thanks to their tightening screw. Thanks to a "V" shaped support from below, and an inverted "V" from above, two canvases can be transported, avoiding contact with the wet painted surface, while ensuring a firm hold. Technical field

[0002] The technical problem to be solved is the need for a painter to transport a wet painting or a wet painted canvas from point A to point B, without risking damaging the work in progress. If an object comes into contact with the drying surface, the paint will spread, and the work will be damaged because the drying time of oil or acrylic paint is relatively long. Some paintings require several hours or days of drying before they can be transported without risk of damaging the work in progress. Terms used

[0003] The terms wet painting canvas or wet painted canvas refer to a canvas that is not yet dry due to the long drying time of certain paints used (oil paint, acrylic paint or watercolor). A painting is, in the field of fine arts, a flat surface support, made of different materials (wood panels, canvas stretched on a frame, canvas board, etc.), on which painters create an artistic work in painting. Painters express themselves on supports such as canvas, paper, wood, etc. 3D printing by filament deposition or extrusion, is a technique which consists of melting a plastic filament (PLA: polylactic acid, ABS: acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, etc.) which is then deposited layer by layer via a print head onto a moving platen. Prior art State of the art: existing solution no. 1:

[0004] [Fig.l] the transport points of the canvases.

[0005] The canvas transport points are a set of four pieces of wood or cork crossed by a metal nail with two pointed sides.

[0006] One of these devices is nailed into each of the four corners of the face of the canvas, and a second canvas is pressed firmly against the nails (the two canvases are facing each other).

[0007] Solution already used in the 19th century, see the works of Pissarro or Berthe Morisot, because the traces of the nails are visible, but in general once the canvases were finished, the holes were filled with paint, or hidden by the frame.

[0008] Technical problem: limitation of existing solution no. 1

[0009] There are holes in the four corners of the canvas.

[0010] This solution works well in wooden frames, but does not hold well in thin cardboard canvases. State of the art: existing solution no. 2:

[0011] [Fig.2] the transport hull.

[0012] A large rectangular, concave plastic plate against which the wet canvas is placed.

[0013] The wet cloth is in contact only at the four corners of the concave plate.

[0014] Technical problem: limitation of existing solution no. 2

[0015] The transport shell only allows the transport of one canvas at a time. State of the art: existing solution no. 3:

[0016] [Fig.3] the transport box.

[0017] It is a wooden or plastic box that allows you to transport several canvases.

[0018] Technical problem: limitation of existing solution no. 3

[0019] Large areas around the painted surface of the canvas are in contact with the frame, which spreads the paint if the artist has painted to the edge of the canvas. Statement of the invention

[0020] The "Wet Canvas Carrier" is a device for transporting two canvases of wet paint, without risk of damaging the works in progress. The "Wet Canvas Carrier" allows you to move two wet canvases between the place where you are painting and your home for drying and storage. It allows for support (thanks to two "V" shapes from below, and two "V" shapes from above of two canvases) and limits contact with the wet painted surface, while ensuring firm support. A handle on the top of the device allows for manual transport. Advantages provided

[0021] The two "V" shapes of the lower part of the device, and the two movable "V" shaped parts as well, make it possible to hold the two canvases firmly, face to face and at the same time, prevent objects from coming into contact with the wet painted surface. Presentation of figures

[0034] The production of the different parts (parts 2 to 6) which make up the "Wet canvas holder" (except part number 1, which is a standard part) can be carried out in plastic formed by molding for large series, or in 3D printing by depositing successive layers of PLA, ABS etc. for small and medium series.

[0035] [Fig.4] general view with numbering of the parts. Application

[0036] The "Wet Canvas Carrier" is intended for painters who need to transport a wet painted canvas from point A to point B, without risking damaging the work in progress.
