4. Upholstery element (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the peripheral area (4) completely surrounds the decoration area (2).
5. A trim element (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the backlit area (8) surrounds completely the part of the decor area (2) covered with the opaque coating (6).
6. A trim element (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein a light source (10) is placed on the inner face (3) side of the decoration area (2), said light source (10) producing light visible from the outer face (5) of the backlit area (8).

Method of making a trim element (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 6, comprising the following steps: - Making a decorative area (2) out of a translucent material - Making a peripheral area (4) out of an opaque material around at least a part of the decorative area (2) - Applying an opaque coating layer (6) to the external face (5) of at least a part of the decorative area (2) - Defining a backlit area (8) extending between a first edge (7), formed by an edge of the opaque coating layer (6), and a second edge (9), formed by an edge of the peripheral area, said backlit area (8) allowing light to pass from the inner face (3) to the outer face (5).
8. A method for producing a trim element (1) according to claim 7, wherein an opaque coating layer (6) is applied by physical vapor deposition of a metallic material
