Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Support assembly with mounting plate for attaching a brake light to a light bracket
[0001] The present invention relates to the fields of mechanics, particularly automotive engineering, and more specifically concerns a support assembly comprising a light bracket and a mounting plate for attaching a brake light to the light bracket. The support assembly may, in particular, be designed to cooperate with a part of a tailgate, especially the top of the tailgate.
[0002] Figure 1 shows a light bracket 5 extending longitudinally between a lower surface 7 and an upper surface 8. The light bracket 5 includes a housing 31 extending along a principal plane, in which a brake light is intended to be positioned. The brake light (not shown) includes connector elements projecting from its rear face. Once inserted into the housing 31, the front face of the brake light occupies the opening of the housing, while the rear face is intended to be connected to the vehicle's electrical system at the connector elements. Furthermore, the light bracket includes a surface against which the rear face of the brake light contacts to ensure the mechanical attachment of the brake light to the light bracket. The light bracket also includes various attachment points 6 for securing the light bracket 5 to the vehicle, generally at the top of the trunk.
[0003] The light support therefore has shapes complementary to the brake light. Depending on the vehicle, the light support does not have the same characteristics, particularly the inclination of its lower and upper surfaces. It is thus understood that each light support corresponds to a brake light.
[0004] In order to streamline components and reduce production costs, it is desirable to standardize certain components so they can be used regardless of the vehicle project. One possibility is to standardize the brake light. In other words, the goal is to use the same brake light for every vehicle. However, the brake light bracket must adapt to the vehicle's dimensions and shape; it therefore varies from one vehicle project to another. The problem then arises of being able to mount a standard brake light on a bracket with a variable shape, while taking into account the constraints imposed by the manufacturing of the brake light bracket. This part is generally manufactured by injection molding. This is a manufacturing process in which molten material is injected into a pre-prepared mold with a shape complementary to the shape of the brake light bracket to be molded.A multitude of materials can be used for this process (metals, etc.). (thermoplastic, glass, etc.). In the case of the fire support, the material used is typically a plastic, for example, polypropylene. After injecting the molten material into the mold, the process includes a cooling step, for example, using cooling circuits located inside the mold. During cooling, the material solidifies and takes the shape of the mold. Finally, the process includes a demolding step for the fire support, that is, a step in which the fire support is ejected from the mold. This demolding is done using ejectors that separate the fire support from the mold along a demolding axis. Given the overall shape of the fire support, and in particular the presence of the housing, the demolding axis extends in a direction parallel to the main plane of the housing and intersects the opening of the housing.Advantageously, the demolding axis is also included in a cutting plane substantially perpendicular to a lower or upper wall of the housing.
[0005] This manufacturing constraint means that simply modifying the shape of the light holder is not feasible, as this would make demolding impossible. This is particularly true for a light holder with an inclined housing into which a brake light with a shape that is not complementary to the holder is to be inserted. On the one hand, the brake light must be fixed to the brake light holder by a mounting surface, but on the other hand, it is not possible to add a mounting surface that would make demolding the light holder impossible.
[0006] The invention aims to provide a solution to the prior art fire supports by proposing a support assembly with a fixing plate allowing a brake light to be fixed on any fire support and compatible with the technical constraints imposed by the demolding of the fire support.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a support assembly comprising a light support and a mounting plate for attaching a brake light to the light support, the mounting plate being capable of moving from a disassembled configuration in which the mounting plate is distant from the brake light to a fixed configuration in which the mounting plate is attached to the brake light, the light support forming a housing for the brake light, the housing extending along a first plane, the brake light comprising a rear face extending in a second plane and a mounting area extending along a first axis perpendicular to the second plane, the support assembly being characterized in that the mounting plate comprises a first mounting surface intended to abut against the rear face of the brake light in the fixed configuration, and in that,When projected onto a plane perpendicular to the second plane containing the first axis, the first axis intersects the first plane in the fixed configuration.
[0008] Thanks to these features, it is possible to standardize the brake light, that is, to use the same brake light regardless of the light's mounting bracket. The mounting plate ensures that the brake light is attached to the bracket despite the various shapes and angles that the bracket may have depending on the vehicle designs concerned, without complicating the demolding process of the light's mounting bracket.
[0009] Advantageously, the fixing plate includes a second fixing surface intended to abut against a rear face of the light support in its fixed configuration.
[0010] The mounting plate thus ensures the brake light is attached to the light bracket. More precisely, the mounting plate provides a double attachment: the brake light is attached to the mounting plate, and the light bracket is attached to the plate. Since the shape of the light bracket is not necessarily adapted to the shape of the brake light, the mounting plate compensates for these variations by judiciously adapting the first and second mounting surfaces.
[0011] Advantageously, the second mounting surface includes at least one opening for a passage of a protruding element of the rear face of the brake light in the fixed configuration. The opening allows the necessary connections, for example electrical, to be made to the rest of the vehicle.
[0012] In a variant of the invention, the fire support comprising one of an orifice and a positioning device, the fixing plate comprising the other of an orifice and a positioning device, the positioning device being intended to cooperate with the orifice in the fixed configuration.
[0013] The positioning device and the orifice ensure the centering of the mounting plate relative to the light support. They contribute to the correct positioning of the mounting plate against the light support.
[0014] In one embodiment of the invention, the support assembly comprises a film connecting the second fixing surface of the fixing plate and a lower wall of the light support, the film having a degree of freedom in rotation about a second axis parallel to the second fixing surface and the lower wall of the light support, so as to move the fixing plate from the disassembled configuration to the fixed configuration.
[0015] The invention also covers a rear spoiler for a vehicle, comprising such a support assembly, a brake light disposed in the housing of the light support and a fastening means inserted into the fastening area of the brake light through the access area, so as to keep the first fastening surface abutting against the rear face of the brake light in its fixed configuration.
[0016] The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising such a rear spoiler.
[0017] Finally, the invention also relates to a method for fixing a brake light using such a support assembly, comprising the following steps: - Supply of the entire support assembly in its disassembled configuration; - Supply of a brake light; - Position of the brake light in the housing of the light support; - The fixing plate is placed against the rear face of the brake light in its fixed configuration; - Use of a fastening means in the brake light mounting area through the access area to assemble the brake light to the mounting plate.
[0018] Advantageously, the fastening method according to the invention comprises, prior to the step of butting the mounting plate against the rear face of the brake light, a step of assembling the mounting plate onto the support in order to obtain a support assembly in the assembled configuration.
[0019] Advantageously, the assembly step consists of rotating the plate around the fire support via the deformation of the film forming an articulation hinge.
[0020] Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description on the one hand, and from several illustrative and non-limiting examples of embodiments given with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0030] The features, variants, and different embodiments of the invention, as described or as they will be presented in the detailed description that follows, can be combined in various ways, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be conceived comprising only a selection of features described hereafter in isolation from the other described features, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.
[0031] For the sake of clarity, the same elements are designated by the same references in the different figures.
[0032] Fig. 1 represents a fire support according to the prior art and was presented in the introduction.
[0033] The invention relates to a support assembly with a mounting plate 10 for attaching a brake light 50 to a brake light bracket 30. The mounting plate 10 is capable of moving from a disassembled configuration, in which the mounting plate 10 is away from the brake light 50, to a fixed configuration, in which the mounting plate 10 is in contact with the rear face of the brake light 50. It should therefore be understood that in the fixed configuration, the mounting plate 10 can simply be abutted against the rear face of the brake light, or it can be abutted against the rear face of the brake light and attached to the rear face of the brake light with a fastening means. The fixed configuration corresponds to the configuration of the plate positioned against the brake light.
[0034] In other words, the mounting plate is in the disassembled position when it is not in contact with the brake light. The mounting plate can move from the disassembled to the fixed position and vice versa, that is, from the fixed to the disassembled position. Moving from the disassembled to the fixed position allows the brake light to be mounted on the light bracket, while moving from the fixed to the disassembled position allows the brake light to be removed.
[0035] Figure 2 shows a light bracket 30 with the brake light 50 and the mounting plate 10 according to the invention in the disassembled configuration. The light bracket 30 forms a housing 31 for the brake light 50. The housing 31 is delimited by an upper wall 32 and a lower wall 33. The housing 31 forms an insertion tunnel for the brake light 50. It opens onto the front face of the light bracket at a front opening 34 of the light bracket.
[0036] The brake light 50 comprises a front face 54. The front face corresponds to the illuminated area of the brake light, the purpose of which is to signal the vehicle's deceleration during braking. Once the brake light 50 is inserted into the housing 31, the face The front 54 of the brake light coincides with the front opening 34 of the light bracket. The brake light 50 includes a rear face 51 extending into a second plane P2. The brake light includes at least one projecting element 53 extending from the rear face 51. This at least one projecting element corresponds to connection elements for electrically connecting the brake light to the vehicle's electrical system.
[0037] The fixing plate 10 comprises at least two fixing surfaces whose characteristics and role will be explained below.
[0038] Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional view, perpendicular to plane PI, of the light bracket 30 with the brake light 50 in position in the housing 31 of the light bracket 30 and the mounting plate 10 according to the invention in the fixed configuration. For better visualization, reference should also be made to Figure 5, which illustrates the position of the cross-sectional views on the light bracket.
[0039] In addition to the elements already shown in [Fig. 2], it can be seen that the brake light 50 includes a mounting area 52 extending along a first axis X perpendicular to the second plane P2, i.e., the first axis X is perpendicular to the rear face 51 of the brake light 50. The mounting area 52 opens onto the rear face 51. This mounting area 52 is designed to receive a fastening means 55 for holding the mounting plate in the fixed position. The fastening means 55 may be a screw, in which case the mounting area is a tapped hole, or any other suitable means.
[0040] According to the invention, the mounting plate 10 comprises a first mounting surface 11 intended to abut against the rear face 51 of the brake light 50. Projected onto a plane perpendicular to the second plane P2 containing the first axis X, the first axis X intersects the first plane PI in the fixed configuration. In the section plane of [Fig. 3], the plane PI is represented by the axis XI corresponding to a demolding axis of the light support.
[0041] The first axis X corresponds to a fixing axis for the brake light, for example by screwing. Thus, the demolding axis XI and the fixing axis X of the brake light are intersecting.
[0042] The first fixing surface 11 includes an access area 12 intended to be opposite the fixing area 52 of the brake light for fixing the fixing plate to the brake light in the fixed configuration.
[0043] The arrangement of this mounting plate against the rear face of the brake light ensures that the plate is attached to the brake light while allowing the brake light support to be demolded without creating any technical difficulties during the demolding process. Thanks to the invention, and as will be detailed below, it is possible to attach the brake light and the brake light support without adding any complexity to the molding and demolding steps of the brake light support.
[0044] The invention also relates to a support assembly comprising a light support 30 and a mounting plate 10 according to the invention. In a first embodiment, The mounting plate 10 is not fixed to the light support in the disassembled configuration. In this embodiment, the mounting plate is a separate element from the light support. In a second embodiment, the mounting plate 10 is fixed to the light support such that the resulting support assembly is in an assembled configuration, regardless of the configuration of the mounting plate chosen from the disassembled and fixed configurations. In this embodiment, the mounting plate is connected to a wall of the light support by means of at least one hinge made of a thinner film 62, making it deformable.
[0045] Figure 4 shows a support assembly according to the invention in the disassembled configuration. The rear portion of the light support is visible here, i.e., the portion opposite the front opening 34. Advantageously, the mounting plate 10 includes a second mounting surface 13 intended to abut against a rear face 35 of the light support 30 in its fixed configuration. The mounting plate 10 thus includes a first mounting surface 11, which is intended to abut against the rear face 51 of the brake light in the fixed configuration, and a second mounting surface 13 intended to abut against a rear face 35 of the light support in its fixed configuration. The first and second mounting surfaces each extend in a different plane. The difference in orientation between the first and second mounting surfaces corresponds to the difference in orientation between the rear face of the brake light and the rear face of the light bracket. This difference in orientation between the first and second mounting surfaces is visible in [Fig. 7].
[0046] When the brake light 50 is positioned in the housing 31 of the light bracket 30, the mounting plate 10 can accommodate the different faces: the rear face of the brake light and the rear face of the light bracket, even if these are not coplanar. Consequently, by slightly modifying the orientation of at least one plane along which one of the first and second mounting surfaces extends, the mounting plate allows the brake light and the light bracket to be secured regardless of the shape of the light bracket. The only shape constraint to be met is that the front opening 34 of the housing must be the same size as the front face 54 of the brake light 50.
[0047] Although the second embodiment of the light support is shown in [Fig.4], the elements just described in relation to [Fig.4] apply to both embodiments of the fixing plate (connected or not connected to the brake light support in the disassembled configuration).
[0048] As can be seen in [Fig. 4], in the second embodiment of the fire support, the support assembly comprises at least one film 62 connecting the second fixing surface 13 of the fixing plate 10 and a lower wall of the The light support 30. The film 62 has one degree of rotational freedom about a second axis Y parallel to the second mounting surface 13 and the lower wall 33 of the light support 30, so as to move the mounting plate 11 from the disassembled configuration to the fixed configuration. In [Fig. 4], only one film 62 is visible. However, the support assembly advantageously includes two films 62 arranged around the periphery of the mounting plate to allow the plate to rotate correctly when moving from the disassembled configuration to the fixed configuration.
[0049] This embodiment has the advantage that the mounting plate attached to the light support can be manufactured in the same mold as the light support. In this case, it is a mold with a shape complementary to the support assembly 61 shown in [Fig. 4]. The mounting plate attached to the light support is thus injected into the same mold with the same material as the light support. This is made possible by the plastic material generally used for this type of part, thermoplastic, for example polypropylene, which, once cooled, is quite flexible and allows the film forming a hinge to rotate the plate around the Y-axis. This second embodiment ensures the necessary demolding flexibility during the part-mold separation step and the positioning of the second mounting surface 13 in its fixed configuration.
[0050] Alternatively, when the fixing plate 10 is not connected to the light support in the disassembled configuration (first embodiment), the plate can be made of a different material than the light support.
[0051] Figure 5 shows a support assembly according to the invention in the fixed configuration. In particular, the abutment of the second fixing surface 13 against the rear face 35 of the light support can be seen.
[0052] Preferably, the second mounting surface 13 includes at least one opening 14 for a passage of a protruding element 53 of the rear face of the brake light in the fixed configuration. As described previously, the brake light 50 includes connectors for electrically connecting the brake light to the vehicle's electrical system. When the brake light 50 is positioned in the housing 31 and the mounting plate is attached to the light bracket, the connectors pass through the opening(s) 14.
[0053] This figure also shows that the mounting plate, in its fixed configuration, closes the housing 31 at its rear face. The second mounting surface 13 abuts against the surface 35 of the light support, and the first mounting surface 11 abuts against the rear face 51 of the brake light (not shown in this figure).
[0054] Figure 6 shows another cross-sectional view of the light support 30 with the brake light 50 and the mounting plate 10 according to the invention in the fixed configuration. This cross-sectional view shows the contact between the second mounting surface 13 and the rear face 35 of the light support 30 in its fixed configuration. This contact is made in the plane P3. More specifically, the rear face 35 of the brake light is a face that forms a recess relative to the upper wall 32 of the light support 30, this recess extending in the plane P3. This recess provides a contact surface 35 for the second mounting surface to allow it to abut against the light support. Furthermore, the second mounting surface 13 and the rear face 35 each have an opening opposite each other in the fixed configuration.A fastening means 17, for example, a weld, a rivet or any other suitable fastening means, is inserted through these two openings in order to fix the second fastening surface 13 to the rear face 35 of the light support.
[0055] By attaching the second mounting surface 13 to the rear face 35 of the light bracket 30 and the first mounting surface 11 to the rear face 51 of the brake light 50, the support assembly of the invention ensures the brake light is attached to the light bracket. It is thus understood that the mounting plate of the invention is an intermediate element for attaching the brake light to the brake light bracket on the one hand, and to the light bracket on the other, allowing the brake light to be attached to any light bracket, regardless of the inclination of the upper and lower walls of the housing. Since the brake light is identical regardless of the vehicle design, i.e., with a light bracket of varying shape, the mounting plate is the part that ensures the adaptation between the two elements to be attached to each other.
[0056] Figure 7 shows a partial view of the support assembly 61 according to the invention in the fixed configuration. In addition to the elements described above, in one embodiment of the invention, the light support comprises either an opening 15 and a positioning device 16, or the mounting plate 10 comprises the other an opening 15 and a positioning device 16. In other words, either the light support comprises the opening 15, in which case the mounting plate comprises the positioning device 16, or the light support comprises the positioning device 16, in which case the mounting plate comprises the opening 15. In all cases, the positioning device 16 is intended to cooperate with the opening 15 in the fixed configuration. The positioning device 16 may be a centering pin that rises perpendicularly from the surface from which it originates. In the fixed configuration, the positioning device is inserted into the orifice 15. The positioning device being advantageously made of the same material as the support light, it has a certain flexibility to facilitate its insertion into the orifice 15. The assembly formed by the orifice 15 and the positioning device 16 ensures the correct positioning of the plate relative to the light support.
[0057] The two planes P2 and P3, which butt the mounting plate against the rear face of the brake light and the rear face of the light bracket respectively, are shown. As can be seen, these two planes are not coplanar. They form an angle Al between them. This difference in orientation of the mounting surfaces 11 and 13 is dictated by the difference in orientation of the rear faces of the brake light and the light bracket. By way of non-limiting example, the angle Al can be between 0° and 50°, preferably around 20°.
[0058] Thus, by adapting the orientation of the mounting surfaces 11, 13 of the plate 10, independently of the light support used, it is possible to insert and secure the same brake light. In other words, thanks to the mounting plate according to the invention, a single standard brake light can be used with a wide variety of light supports.
[0059] Figure 8 shows a cross-sectional view of the support assembly 61 according to the second embodiment of the invention in the fixed configuration. This cross-sectional view is perpendicular to the second fixing surface 13 and intersects the film 62. The cross-sectional view is perpendicular to the Y-axis. As a reminder, the Y-axis is parallel to the second fixing surface 13. The Y-axis is also parallel to the lower wall 33. The film 62 connects the second fixing surface 13 of the fixing plate 10 and the lower wall 33 of the light support 30. The film has one degree of rotational freedom about the Y-axis, so as to move the fixing plate 10 from the disassembled configuration to the fixed configuration.
[0060] Advantageously, the film 62 comprises a first distal portion 63 and a second distal portion 64. The first distal portion 63 extends in line with the second fixation surface 13. The second distal portion 64 extends in line with the lower wall 33. The film 62 comprises a central portion connecting the first distal portion and the second distal portion. The central portion has a circular arc-shaped cross-section encompassing the Y-axis.
[0061] The film 62 provides the connection between the light support and the mounting plate. In addition to the manufacturing advantages explained above, the film helps to ensure proper positioning of the mounting plate 10 against the rear face 35 of the light support.
[0062] The invention also relates to a rear spoiler for a vehicle, comprising a support assembly as described above, a brake light 50 disposed in the housing 31 of the brake light support 30, and a fastening means 55 inserted into the fastening zone 52 of the brake light 50 through the access zone 12, so as to keep the first fastening surface 11 abutted against the rear face of the brake light in its configuration fixed. Advantageously, the spoiler further includes a fastening means 17 fixing the second fastening surface 13 to the rear face 35 of the light support.
[0063] The invention also covers a vehicle comprising a rear spoiler as described above.
[0064] Figure 9 schematically represents the steps of a method for attaching a brake light using a support assembly of the invention. The method for attaching a brake light using a support assembly as described above comprises the following steps: - Supply (step 100) of the support assembly in its disassembled configuration; - Supply (step 110) of a brake light; - Positioning (step 115) of the brake light in the housing of the light support; - Pushing the fixing plate against the rear face of the brake light in its fixed configuration (step 120); - Use (step 125) of a fastening means in the brake light mounting area through the access area in order to assemble the brake light to the mounting plate.
[0065] Steps 100 and 110 of supplying the support assembly and a brake light can be carried out simultaneously or one after the other.
[0066] Advantageously, the fixing method according to the invention includes, prior to step 120 of butting the fixing plate 10 against the rear face of the brake light, a step 116 of assembling the fixing plate 10 on the support 30 in order to obtain a support assembly in assembled configuration.
[0067] The assembly step may consist of rotating the fixing plate 10 around the light support 30 via the deformation of the film 62 forming an articulation hinge.
[0068] The advantages of each of these steps are identical to those presented in the description of the support assembly.
[0069] The invention makes it possible to keep a single model of brake light from one vehicle project to another and to adapt to the light support by means of the fixing plate in order to guarantee the feasibility of demolding during the manufacture of the light support by injection molding.
[0070] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the support assembly includes a film connecting the wafer to the support. The wafer is then produced in the same tooling. This avoids multiplying the tools and production equipment. The result is a gain in terms of feasibility, productivity, and associated costs.
[0071] Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples just described, and many modifications can be made to these examples without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, the characteristics of different variant embodiments of the invention can be combined to carry out the invention, provided that these variants are not incompatible with each other.
