An electric motor and handwheel actuator assembly incorporating a motor

Abstract

A motor 200 has a stator 201 carrying a plurality of phase windings and a rotor 202 carrying a plurality of magnet poles and connected to a shaft. Stator 201 comprises a ferromagnetic material defining a yoke and a plurality of teeth 203, and at least one band 204 of electrically conductive material encompasses at least a portion of either one tooth, or alternatively encompassing a portion of the yoke between adjacent teeth 203 and in direct contact with the tooth. Band 204 provides an electrical path between it and the portion of the tooth or yoke and wraps around upper and lower end regions of the portion of the tooth or yoke, extending axially down the opposing side faces of the tooth or yoke. Band 204 is also isolated from any external source of motor drive current. A mechanical assembly is also provided.
