Abstract

The valve defines a longitudinal axis 12 and comprises a valve seat 28 and a valve body 50 for positioning in a flow path. The valve seat comprises: (i) a radially inner portion 84 for engaging with the valve body and extending substantially at a first angle greater than 40 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis, and (ii) a radially outer portion 86 extending from the radially inner portion substantially at a second angle smaller than 38 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis. The valve body may include an outer portion 92 is in contact with the radially inner portion of the valve seat. The valve body has a contact area having an outer profile different from the radially inner portion of the valve seat. Also claimed are just the valve seat and a pump with the valve.
