Building component and method for its manufacture

Abstract

A method of forming a building component 1 comprises providing a sheathing board 4 with first and second planar surfaces and bonding a breather membrane 2 on the first planar surface 5 such that it is confined by an outer edge of the sheathing board. The width of the breather membrane C may be no more than the width of the first planar surface A, and may be separated from at least one longitudinal edge 4a of the first planar surface. The bonding step may include the application of an adhesive. A method of constructing a building includes the manufacturing of a plurality of building components and mounting them to a building frame to define an inner wall of a cavity wall. The method may include the application of a first sealing element to cover a joint gap between first and second building components. A building component comprises a sheathing board and a breather membrane confined by an outer edge of the sheathing board. A building comprises a building frame and a plurality of building components forming a cavity wall.
