Adhesive bonding composition and method of use

A polymerizable composition includes at least one monomer, a photoinitiator capable of initiating polymerization of the monomer when exposed to light, and a phosphor capable of producing light when exposed to radiation (typically X-rays). The material is particularly suitable for bonding components at ambient temperature in situations where the bond joint is not accessible to an external light source. An associated method includes: placing a polymerizable adhesive composition, including a photoinitiator and energy converting material, such as a down-converting phosphor, in contact with at least two components to be bonded to form an assembly; and, irradiating the assembly with radiation at a first wavelength, capable of conversion (down-conversion by the phosphor) to a second wavelength capable of activating the photoinitiator, to prepare items such as inkjet cartridges, wafer-to-wafer assemblies, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and the like.

Amine organoborane complex initiated polymerizable compositions containing siloxane polymerizable components

In one embodiment the invention is a polymerizable composition comprising a) an organoborane amine complex; b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization; and d) a catalyst for the polymerization of the one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition may further comprise a compound which causes the organoborane amine complex to disassociate. In a preferred embodiment, the two part composition further comprises a compound which is reactive with both the b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; and the c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition can be polymerized by contacting the two parts of the composition. In another embodiment the invention is an organoborane amine complex comprising an alkyl borane having ligands which are alkyl, cycloalkyl or both and an amino siloxane.

This invention discloses a dental adhesive composition comprising (A) a polymerizable monomer comprising an acidic-group containing polymerizable monomer such as 11-methacryloyloxy-1,1-undecane dicarboxylic acid, (B) a mixed filler of a spherical filler substantially consisting of a non-crosslinking polymethyl methacrylate and a spherical filler substantially consisting of a non-crosslinking polyethyl methacrylate; and (C) a polymerization initiator; and a dental adhesive kit comprising the above dental adhesive composition in combination with a dental primer comprising (D) an acidic-group containing polymerizable monomer, (E) an aryl borate, (F) an organosulfinic acid salt and (G) water. The dental adhesive composition exhibits good operability and improved adhesion performance.

Epoxy adhesive having improved impact resistance

In the preparation of an improved adhesive composition, an epoxy-based prepolymer is obtained by the reaction of one or more epoxy resins with amino-terminated polyethers and / or carboxyl-terminated butadiene-nitrile rubbers. In one embodiment of the invention, both a solid epoxy resin and a liquid epoxy resin, each of which is a diglycidyl ether of a polyphenol such as bisphenol A, are used. The epoxy-based prepolymer is mixed with an acrylate-terminated urethane resin (preferably, one based on a polyol having a number average molecular weight of at least about 400) and a heat-activated latent curing agent to make an adhesive composition which can be pumpable at room temperature. Spin-on adhesive for temporary wafer coating and mounting to support wafer thinning and backside processing

A liquid form adhesive system is provided for spin-coating on wafers and mounting to rigid carrier substrates to support thinning and backside processing. The liquid adhesive comprises about 30-35% of a rosin, between 5-10% of a thermoplastic urethane, a nonionic surfactant present between 1-3%, and a trace of an ultraviolet fluorescing dye. The entire system is dissolved in 50-65%, by weight, of a dual solvent mixture composed of dimethylacetamide and propylene glycol monomethyl ether. When the mixture is made to a specific viscosity, filtered, applied by a spin-coating method to the wafer frontside surface, and cured, the result is a uniform and smooth surface of defined thickness. When the coated wafer is mounted to a rigid substrate, it may be mechanically thinned to thicknesses down to and beyond 25 um, depending upon the wafer composition, diameter, and process. Once thinned, the adhesive is safe for backside processing and is dissolved away at completion to provide a thinned wafer that is clean and ready for final dicing or chipping operations.

An oriented graphene / polymer composite system, and a preparation method and an application thereof are provided. The composite system includes an oriented network component at least including graphene and a substrate component compounded with the oriented network component, wherein at least a part of graphene is arranged according to set orientation; the composite system at least has a heat conductivity coefficient in the set direction higher than heat conductivity coefficients in other directions.
