A susceptor composition that can bond two or more layers or substrates to one another and that can be used to coat or cut a substrate. The susceptor composition is activated in the presence of radio frequency (RF) energy. In one embodiment, the susceptor composition of the present invention comprises at least one ionomer and a polar carrier. The ionomer and polar carrier are blended with one another and form a mixture, preferably a uniform mixture. Apparatus and a method for sealing of protective barrier fabric seams in otherwise impermeable articles such as garments, footwear, surgical gowns and the like, are provided, the sealed seams maintaining the imperviousness of the article, including seamed joints, to water, body fluids, pathogens and chemicals. In one pass through the apparatus, a sealed seam in a protective barrier fabric joint, using a curable adhesive sealant, is provided along a predetermined and specified length of the joint. Applicators and dispensing systems for dispensing liquid hot melt adhesives and methods of dispensing liquid hot melt adhesives. The dispensing system supplies the liquid hot melt adhesive in a non-activated state to the applicator. The liquid hot melt adhesive is processed to modify at least one activation-sensitive property before dispensing onto a substrate. The property may exhibit a temperature dependence, in which case the applicator or other structure near the applicator heats the liquid hot melt adhesive immediately before application. The property may exhibit a pressure dependence, in which case the applicator or other structure near the application applies pressure and/or shear forces to the liquid hot melt adhesive shortly before dispensing. Alternatively, a property that is both temperature and pressure dependent may be modified.

A non-woven polymeric matrix for separating leukocytes from a blood sample includes a non-woven three dimensional matrix formed from polymeric fibers having a predetermined pore volume fraction including a defined channel configuration, a predetermined pore size in the range of from about 10 μm to about 250 μm, and a plurality of connections between the plurality of fibers. The matrix is configured so as to remove at least about 98% of leukocytes from at least one unit of packed red blood cells. Methods of making and using the matrix are also provided.

A medicine delivering device permits additional medicine cassettes to be provided at low cost without greatly enlarging the installation space. The present invention includes novel systems and devices for commissioning wireless tags, RFID tags, and wireless sensors. The present invention benefits wireless sensors that are not directly part of a demand printed label. In one embodiment RFID tags or inlays are pre-loaded into cartridges prior to consumption and an encoder mechanism and corresponding antenna encodes and verifies the programmable RFID tags within the cartridges. This improvement adds significant convenience of loading RFID tags and enhances overall reliability of handling and applying the RFID tags. A sealant mold for sealing a domed nutplate unit particularly at a lower region about an adhesively attached interface with a substrate such as an aircraft fuel tank wall. The sealant mold is formed from a lightweight plastic material, and includes an inner cap in combination with an outer skirt to define a gap or trough for receiving and supporting a metered quantity of a curable sealant material. The mold is fitted onto a dome of the nutplate unit with an inner cap inboard edge landed onto a dome shoulder. The outer skirt is then displaced downwardly about the landed inner cap to extrude the sealant material about the lower region of the nutplate unit particularly such as the adhesively attached interface with the substrate. The sealant material is allowed to cure, after which the sealant mold can be stripped quickly and easily from the cured sealant material.

A method and apparatus for continuously applying labels to containers, and a container including a label on a surface thereof which has been applied thereto by the method and/or apparatus. An activating solution is sprayed by a sprayer onto a label pallet or directly onto a surface of a label containing an activatable coating or layer thereon. The activating solution activates the activatable coating or layer. The label is adhered to a container by placing the activated coating or layer of the label in contact with a surface of the container. The sprayer may deliver the activating solution to a surface of a label pallet or label with an even wet-out.

The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus (10) for producing a packaging container for liquid foods from a packaging container blank (40) by permanently uniting and sealing at least two of its edges (61, 65) with the aid of a hot melt glue, the hot melt glue being applied along one of the two edges with the aid of a heated applicator roller (11). The circumferential surface (21) of the hot roller is preferably made of hardened steel with a coating (22) countersunk in a groove int he surface along the circumference of the circumferential surface, the coating possessing good slippage properties in relation to the hot melt glue and the coating being of a width which corresponds to the region intended for application. A counter roller (14) acts on the opposite side of the packaging laminate blank against the applicator roller for controlling the outflow of the applied hot melt glue strand. How melt glue is applied to the applicator roller by means of a heated nozzle (12) and the surplus which is not transferred to the packaging laminate blank is scrapped off from the applicator roller by means of a doctor blade (15). The hot melt glue is preferably an ethylene vinyl acetate based composition with a high melting point and high viscosity which is applied at least approx. 180° C.
