Apparatus and a method for sealing of protective barrier fabric seams in otherwise impermeable articles such as garments, footwear, surgical gowns and the like, are provided, the sealed seams maintaining the imperviousness of the article, including seamed joints, to water, body fluids, pathogens and chemicals. In one pass through the apparatus, a sealed seam in a protective barrier fabric joint, using a curable adhesive sealant, is provided along a predetermined and specified length of the joint. The preferred adhesive is a silicone, most preferably a two-part, thermosetting silicone elastomeric adhesive. Also provided are mixing dies for use, inter alia, in the process which are especially suited for applying the two-part adhesive sealant. In addition, variable-residence-time curing apparatus, which effects variable, controlled, desired cures of the adhesive, all in a one-pass operation, is provided, together with precise metering pumps, especially suited for supplying the seam sealing adhesives in the process of the invention.

A method and related system are provided for selecting a gown to be worn during a medical procedure according to a degree of barrier protection provided by the gown. The invention relates to a nonwoven gown made of a gown body terminating in two edges at a back of the gown. The gown contains a closure member that extends around the gown body and terminates at each edge. Manipulation of the closure member moves at least one of the edges toward the other thereby closing the back of the gown. A fastener located along at least a portion of at least one of the edges may be provided. Some suitable fasteners include tape, hook and loop type fasteners, and/or snaps. Such a gown enables a wearer to close and secure the gown by himself while keeping his hands sterile.

The invention relates to a gown having a gown body, an inflatable chamber capable of selectively inflating and deflating carried by the gown body, and a shaping element carried by the gown body. The shaping element is directly responsive to inflation of the inflatable chamber so that the shaping element is moved from an initial arrangement to a subsequent arrangement by inflation of the chamber. Upon subsequent deflation, the shaping member retains its shape. The entire structure is suitable for the self-assisted donning of a surgical gown.

The present invention provides a breathable, lightweight material which has radiopaque qualities and is easy to produce. In the preferred embodiment, a lightweight fabric, such as a surgical mask liner or an entire surgical gown, is formed by mixing a lightweight radiopaque compound, such as barium sulfate, with a polymer filler, preferably polyethylene, to impart radiopaque qualities to the mixture, then extruding the mixture into a plurality of filaments to form a porous, nonwoven fabric mass, and forming the filament mass into a web suitable to be used as a garment liner or ply in a multi-ply fabric.

Surgical gown and method of manufacturing the surgical gown. In a first embodiment, the surgical gown requires only one operating room person to assist a surgeon in donning the gown. A shoulder flap extends from a rear torso portion, over a shoulder portion and to a front torso portion of the gown. With assistance of only one other person, the surgeon rotates to enclose himself within the surgical gown, secure the flap to the front of the gown and tie waist tie strings. A second embodiment gown is self-donning. The second embodiment comprises a pole to which the flap and one waist tie string are removably attached. The surgeon rotates to enclose himself within the gown, removes the flap and waist tie string from the pole, attaches the flap to the gown and ties the waist tie strings to complete the gowning procedure.

A patch having a notch therein and a tie coupled thereto is used to provide a closure for a garment, such as a gown. The notch is formed along an edge of the patch, and the tie is coupled to the patch such that it is positioned to extend across and beyond the notch. An antibacterial, waterproof and absorbent composite clothe for making special disposable clothing such as surgical gowns. The composite cloth mainly contains a three-layer flexible laminate, namely a middle layer, an outer layer and an inner layer. The middle layer is substantially waterproof and air breathable. The middle layer has an inner side and an outer side on opposite sides thereof. The outer layer is made of antibacterial non-woven fabric to prevent bacteria from migrating through the cloth and is secured to the outer side of the middle layer. The inner layer is made of absorbent non-woven fabric to absorb sweat and is secured to the inner side of the middle layer.

A disposable surgical gown having a front closure is provided. The disposable surgical gown comprises a gown body, which includes a first front portion, a back portion, and a second front portion which cooperate to provide the gown body. The gown body also includes a pair of sleeves joined at lateral sides to the gown body. The invention discloses a piece of bubble type flexible non-woven cloth and a manufacturing method of the bubble type flexible non-woven cloth. Raw materials, namely, polylactic acid high polymers, are solidified into the cloth through melt spinning net laying and twice hot rolling. A self-donning surgical gown that can be secured in place on a user by the user without the assistance of another person is disclosed. The self-donning gown includes a neck fastening assembly, a back closure assembly, and/or a front tie assembly to facilitate self-donning by the user.

The micro-nano antibacterial sanitary material has excellent antibacterial and bacteriostatic effects, and can be applied to various sanitary materials such as paper diapers, surgical gowns, female sanitary towels and other sanitary products.

Breathable multilayer films suitable for a wide variety of uses (e.g., protective apparel, surgical gowns, surgical drapes, aprons, roofing material, house wrap, etc.) are disclosed. The breathable multilayer film may include a monolithic core layer. The monolithic core layer may comprise at least one highly breathable polymer. The breathable multilayer film may also include at least one skin layer. The skin layer or layers may comprise at least one highly breathable polymer, a filler, and a non-breathable material. An exemplary structure of the breathable multilayer film provides a monolithic core layer, a first skin layer on one side of the monolithic core layer, and a second skin layer on the other side of the monolithic core layer. An exemplary construction of one or both of the skin layers includes one or more highly breathable polymers, a tiller, and a non-breathable material. The filler, for example, may comprise calcium carbonate.

A polymer composition for use in a hot melt adhesive comprises at least one semierystalline, low molecular weight (LMW) propylene-based polymer; at least one essentially amorphous, high molecular weight (HMW) propylene-based polymer; and at least one essentially amorphous, LMW propylene-based polymer. A hot melt adhesive composition further contains a tackifier, a plasticizer, an antioxidant, and optionally a wax, a filler, a colorant, a UV absorber, another polymer, or combinations thereof The hot melt adhesive is useful for a variety of industrial applications where bonding of low surface energy substrates is encountered, including disposable nonwoven hygienic articles, labeling and other assembly applications. Particularly preferred applications include nonwoven disposable diaper and feminine sanitary napkin construction, diaper and adult incontinent brief elastic attachment, diaper and napkin core stabilization, diaper backsheet lamination, industrial filter material conversion, and surgical gown and surgical drape assemblies. The composition demonstrates improved peel strength while maintaining very good creep resistance.

Nonwoven fabrics having liquid barrier properties are provided. The nonwoven fabrics may include one or more nonwoven layers, in which one or more of the nonwoven layers may include a liquid-barrier-enhancing-additive (LBEA) comprising an amide. The intelligent compounding equipment comprises a side welding module, a middle welding module and a clamping pulling mechanism for clamping an upper layer non-woven fabric and a lower layer non-woven fabric to be transmitted forwardly, wherein the side welding module comprises two oppositely-disposed roll welding mechanisms; each of the roll welding mechanisms comprises a welding head, a pressing wheel disposed above the welding head, a side pressing driving mechanism and a welding rotary driving mechanism for driving the pressing wheel to rotate; the middle welding module comprises a welding plate, a plurality of pressing blocks and a middle pressing driving mechanism; the pressing blocks are sequentially arranged above the welding plate in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the non-woven fabrics; and the welding head and the welding plate are all connected with ultrasonic welding equipment. According to the intelligent compounding equipment, automatic compound welding processing can be performed on the perforated upper layer non-woven fabric and the lower layer non-woven fabric, so that a finished surgical gown is formed without artificial participation, and the compounding efficiency and precision of the surgical gown are effectively improved.

A disposable surgical gown is provided. The gown includes a front panel and sleeves formed from a first spunbond layer, a nonwoven (e.g., SMS) laminate, and a liquid impervious, moisture vapor breathable elastic film disposed therebetween. The gown also includes a first and second rear panels formed from a nonwoven laminate that is air breathable and allows for an air volumetric flow rate ranging from about 20 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) to about 80 scfm. The gown further includes a collar formed from an air breathable knit material positioned adjacent a proximal end of the gown. The collar defines a neck opening having a v-neck shape adjacent the front panel. The v-neck shape forms an angle of greater than 90° at the neck opening. The combination of features results in a reduced-glare gown that is stretchable and impervious to liquids, yet can still dissipate heat and humidity.
