Abstract
Description
By Seyed Yahya Hosseini Nasab, Seyed Javad Hosseini Nasab Field of invention The present invention relates to injection devices like syringes and similar products that a defined amount of liquid is pulled in and pushed out of it and dosing of this amount is important. Background of invention Injection devices like syringes are used for various purposes in medical and healthcare system. The clinicians are dependent on syringes to inject material like drugs and medicine to the patients. Delivery of treatment is also varied among range of specialist. For example, cosmetic surgeons need to inject right amount at the right location to get the desirable outcome. The quality of their work is determined by two factors: location of injection and amount of injection. During the course of treatment, doctor may inject to multiple sites on the body or face of the person who is interested in getting beauty treatments. Human eyes can be focused on one place at a time. If the person wants to see or check something at another spot, then the person needs to move the eye or tilt the head also the eye will change lens's thickness so the person would be able to see the new location. These result in distraction if a person needs to monitor two spots simultaneously by eye. It would be more convenient and precise if eye is focused in one location while another sense is engaged for monitoring the derivatives of changes in the other location. When an operator is injecting some kind of material like Botox to a person, it is very important that right amount is injected at right location. Operator needs to look carefully at the injection site. Also, the operator needs to look carefully at the measurements on the syringe to check and monitor the injected amount. All these should be done while operator is pushing the fluid out of the syringe. These monitoring of injection site and injection amount simultaneously by eye will result in distraction and loss of accuracy consequently reduction of satisfaction in the outcome. Syringes as commonly known in the healthcare system are made of parts that hold and push the liquid inside them. Also, a needle is connected to its head to pierce the skin and tissues to deliver the injection to the desired location of the body. Conventional syringes are made to be used as a single shot to inject once at one location, so the user is able to focus on the injection site without significant need to monitor the injection amount. If the aforementioned syringe is used in settings where the user needs to inject various amount at multiple sites, then user needs to divide its attention. He or she needs to look at the needle and where it's pointing to pierce simultaneously monitor the amount that is pushed out of syringe to the body. This means cosmetic surgeons are treating their consumers without enough attention to either the location of injector or the injection amount. Either will result in dissatisfaction. Botox is common material used by cosmetic clinicians to enhance the beauty of people face. It is commonly applied to the face by injections. Injections of Botox cause paralysis of parts in the face. The amount of injection determines the extent of paralysis. Also, the amount of paralysis will result in the changes in face. It is significantly important that both sides of face are treated completely equal in an ideal situation. But in actual practical means, it is unlikely to happen because it's very difficult to monitor both location and dose of injection to be equal for both sides of face. Consequently, the experience of clinicians plays an important but not sufficient part in excellency of outcome. It is needed to help clinicians injecting right dose by reducing distraction from injection site, for example via triggering other senses than vision since surgeon can focus its eyes on the injection site while being sure right amount is injected by means other than looking at the measurements on the syringe. To trigger users' senses other than vision, a device needs to be reactive to changes in means that don't need involvement of eye. For example, a vibration can trigger biological sensors in skin or ear. There has been attempts to improve syringes by additional parts to make them sophisticated to be perceived as a way of giving feedback to the user, but those attempts have been failed because the complication makes the manufacturing, distribution, use, dispose and recycle of such syringes and devices very difficult, costly and inappropriate. Syringes are disposable medical equipment with cost of commonly fraction of a GBP. They are usually moulded at mass. They are single use and its very important that minimal amount of material be used in their production to moderate waste and be considerate about sustainability and environment. If to make a syringe for triggering senses, lots of material or complicated manufacturing process are used then the cost will increase. Consequently, affordability will decrease so less people will benefit from it. Also, excessive use of material for single use products can result in damages to the environment. There is a need for a simple improvement process to make syringe, a device to trigger parts of body other than eye regarding the injection amount while user is injecting. The simplicity of solution will make it affordable so masses would be able to use it. Summary of the invention It would be desirable to have a process for making injection devices to trigger senses other than vision to inform the user about the injection amount while reducing the distraction from injection site during the procedure. It's an objective of present invention to reduce user's distraction from injection site while right amount of material is being injected. Disclosed is process of making injection device beneficial in reducing user's distraction from injection site by addition of features to the piston or container to trigger senses other than vision regarding the amount of injection while the user is pushing its content out of it into the injection site which is very important to be the right amount at the right location. It's further objective of present invention to increase user's attention to the injection site via avoiding the distraction to the measuring system. It's further objective of present invention to be manufacturable injection device with attachments that are interacting while the injection is happening to inform the user about the dose of injection. It's further objective of present invention to modify the manufacturing of injection devices like syringes in cost effective manner so large population be able to benefit from the present invention. It's further objective of present invention to suggest attachment parts for injectable device to make it provider of information about the amount of injection via senses other that vision so doctor would understand the amount of injection without looking at measurements on the device. It's further objective of present invention to have serrated piston to interact with a thin part of container of syringe to cause vibration as a response which its numbers are proportionate to the amount of injection to the user. It's further objective of present invention to make piston serrated by cutting fragments from it. It's further objective of present invention to make piston serrated and container having a thin layer extension both via injection moulding. Accordingly, these features should be crafted in the mould making procedure. It's further objective of present invention to either or both of features on piston and container can be achieved by attachment of parts to them. It's further objective of present invention to suggest methods of mass manufacturing an injection device that help user to be attentive to the location of injection while being informed about the amount of injection. It's further objective of present invention to inform the user from beginning and end of each injection dose. This can be achieved by special design of each segment of serrated features on piston of syringe as well as flexibility and partial movement of the thin flexible part from container. It's further objective of present invention to be produced by making an initial mould to be trailed by making the thin part of container thinnest and gradually making it thicker to getting to the right proportion which will interact properly in connection with features on the piston to inform the user from the progression of the injection process as result of movement of the piston. It's further objective of present invention to help user inject Botox or similar materials like cosmetic fillers to the patients and other people who seek beauty help in a manner that is involved most attention on the location of the injection while the amount of Botox or other materials is monitored by listening or touch or other senses. This is very important that container and piston of injection device has features like a thin layer on container and a zigzag on edge of the piston to interact with each other. As a consequence, the thin layer will be moved or vibrate or get affected in other forms from the interaction with piston as the injection process start, continue and end. In each step of the injection process the outcome of the interaction between container and piston can inform the user about the process and the magnitude of it. It's further objective of present invention to make serrated design on the piston of the syringe as such that they cause build-up of tension in part of the container that interact with piston while piston is moved then sudden release of that part cause bouncing and vibration as response to inform the user of incremental progression of the injection process. It's further objective of present invention to be same size as conventional syringes since the patients and people are afraid of receiving injection from large injection devices. The thin part extruded from the container is illustration of invisible mechanism since it's virtually unseeable while causing response as result of interacting with features like bumps on moving piston of the injection device during the injection. So, the user get benefit of giving full attention to the location of the injection It's further objective of present invention to be used for injection of novel cosmetic products like polynucleoids and stem cells as well as old fashioned products like Botox and fillers because for all of them injection at multiple sites with same amount should be done accurately and it is very important that doctor / user be able to concentrate on the injection site while getting informed about the amount of injected material via other senses. This very helpful while aesthetic clinicians are injecting the people for beauty services because the end result is very dependent on amount and place of injection. It's further objective of present invention to not hinder the movement of piston as it is conventionally pulled by the user while filling the container of syringe without need for changing the setting or modification of injection device. □ It's further objective of present invention to facilitate the potential medical approval for applying the process of present invention in the clinics by making sure the interaction between the container and piston happen without contamination of content of the container. It's further objective of present invention to be manufactured as of the modification of production of conventional syringes to add the features to the piston and container without need to moulding other additional parts that are going to be added to the syringe which will complicate the assembly process. For example, the part of container that will intersect with feature on piston can be part of design for a new mould for container so the new mould will be used to produce the container with this feature as a single unit. The replacement of moulds is something fairly convenient on the existing and new production line and this is part of the process of helping the person who is injecting to another person be attentive to the location of injection while considering the amount of injection via conception different from visual. Present invention is unique when compared with other known mechanism for improvement of syringes because present invention is a way of reducing user's distraction from injection site without losing the attention to the dose of injection since unique features are introduced on the piston and container of syringe in a simple modification of manufacturing process to help user understand the amount of fluid that's being pushed via senses other than vision while interaction between the container and piston is happening uniquely and the manufacturing adaptations aren't far different from the conventional mass manufacturing of syringes so the process of present invention can be used at large scale with short period needed for retrofitting, adaptation and ordering of new machinery. This disclosure will now provide a more detailed and specific description that will refer to the accompanying drawings. The drawings and specific descriptions of the drawings, as well as any specific or alternative embodiments discussed, are intended to be read in conjunction with the entirety of this disclosure. Process of making injection device beneficial in reducing user's distraction from injection site may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided by way of illustration only and so that this disclosure will convey understanding to those skilled in the art. Description of the drawings and the preferred embodiments Figure 1, diagrams are shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which one of the methods of manufacturing modification of syringe to help user with dosing the injection without being distracted from looking at the injection site is shown. Figure 2, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which part 14 from container 12 can interact with serrated part 13 from piston 11 while user is pushing or pulling the piston 11 in and out of the container 12. Figure 10, a diagram is shown illustrating one of the potential ways of manufacturing the container 12 for present invention. Figure 11, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. Figure 12, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which part 14 is formed with the container 12. Figure 13, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of method of making container 12 together with part 14. Referring now to figure 1, diagrams are shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which one of the methods of manufacturing modification of syringe to help user with dosing the injection without being distracted from looking at the injection site is shown as part 14 is a thin piece that is attached to the container 12 as shown by arrow 20 in section A of the figure. The attachment of part 14 to the container can happen by means common in the industry such as hotmelt, ultrasound, glue, and laser. As shown in section B of this figure, part 14 is attached to the container 12 as such the end 15 will be close to the saw-like part 13 of piston 11. The vicinity of end 15 and serrated part 13 result in their interaction when the piston is moved in or out of the container by the user. The user is informed from outcome of this interaction via senses other than vision so user doesn't need to look at the measurements on injection device so distraction is reduced and location and dose of injection each are monitored via different senses of the user so user can perform operation that injection at multiple locations is needed conveniently and efficiently and accurately as it is desired by the person who is receiving the injection. Referring now to figure 2, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which part 14 from container 12 can interact with serrated part 13 from piston 11 while user is pushing or pulling the piston 11 in and out of the container 12 to cause movement of material that is encapsulated in container 12. Intersection of end 15 of part 14 with incremental bumps 13 on piston 11 will result in informing response proportionate to the amount of material inside the container 12 that is being pushed by the user to be injected to a location on an individual body. Making the injection device as illustrated in this figure can help user to understand the amount of injection as each of the bumps 13 will move end 15 of part 14 by certain distance then tension is being build up at place that the part 14 is connected to the container 12 until a threshold is reached in which the potential energy would be released suddenly and the part 14 hit the piston 11 at the bump adjacent to the one that has caused the accumulation of tension. This burst of energy will cause vibration and ripple effect in air and the syringe so the user will understand that a certain dose of material has been moved as a consequence there is no need for the user to look at the measurements to decide whether the injection should be continued or stopped. The length of each bump and distance between them are determining factor for the corresponding injected amount. There can be various increments for injection amount around the piston which user rotate to choose the desired one or there can be syringes with various dose unit which user buy multiple ones and choose the one appropriate for each application. Referring now to figure 3, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which piston 11 has two serrated parts like part 13 to help user to choose the appropriate increment via rotation of the piston 11. Referring now to figure 4, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which part 14 and 13 are intersecting at two locations simultaneously. Referring now to figure 5, a diagram is shown illustrating one of the potential ways that the plunger 11 with serrated part 13 can be made for the present invention. In here special serrated part 13 are provided as a separate piece which can be added to the plunger 11. Referring now to figure 6, a diagram is shown illustrating one of the potential ways that the plunger 11 with serrated part 13 can be made for the present invention, using cast 61. Referring now to figure 7, a diagram is shown illustrating one of the potential ways that the serrated part 13 for the present invention can be created by cutting the plunger 11 to achieve a desired shape. Part 70 is showing the plunger before creating the required cuts to form serrated part 13. Referring now to figure 8, a diagram is shown illustrating two different ways that the container 12 for the present invention can be made. In part A piece 14 is added to the container, however in part B piece 14 is created on the container by injection moulding device. Referring now to figure 9, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which a modification for container of syringe has been shown from two different point of view. Referring now to figure 10, a diagram is shown illustrating one of the potential ways of manufacturing the container 12 for present invention. In here, part of injection moulding cast 101 has feature 102 on it to let the part 14 be created with container 12. Embodiment 101 is part of the moulding machine as used in the industry for making conventional injection devices like syringes. The role of this part is to form the inner space of the container 12 by keeping the material as shell around it. This is an example of modification of manufacturing to make injection devices beneficial in reducing the user's distraction from injection site. Because as result of this change, a feature 14 is formed on the container that will intersect with increments 13 on the piston 11 to cause informed decision for user about the dose of injection without need for looking at the measurements on the syringe. This is very helpful in case of aesthetic application in cosmetic clinics since the users need to inject at multiple locations within a short period of time with high accuracy and lots of attention is given to the location of the injections while dosing is monitored via other senses. The syringe is single use in terms of using it for one application / operation / treatment session for each individual but during each single application, multiple injections at various location can happen. The present invention is beneficial for single use considering the aforementioned explanation about single use since the waste management and sustainability aspects of it are considered while enhancing the user experience by providing means for getting informed about the injection amount. The waste management and sustainability aspects of present invention are considered by making it very similar in size and amount of material used in production to the conventional single use syringes that doctors and clinicians are already using so the added benefit of informed decision doesn't cause damage to the environment. This makes present invention a superior solution over other alternatives. Referring now to figure 11, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. Referring now to figure 12, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which part 14 is formed with the container 12. Referring now to figure 13, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of method of making container 12 together with part 14 via moulding process 130 as it is common in the industry to be done at scale.
