Description

By Seyed Yahya Hosseini Nasab Seyed Javad Hosseini Nasab Keywords Words straw, pipe and tube are used interchangeably. Similarly, words adhesive, glue, tethering and attachment are used interchangeably. FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention in general relates to the pouches / containers / cups and lids and bottles for (but not limited to) liquid, fluid, oil, juice, sauce, beverage, dairy and non dairy, gel, wine, detergent, hand wash, body wash, shampoo, washing machine and dishwasher products, cleaning products, fluid, salad dressing, grease, cream, and smoothies as well as powders and other products that are common in art to be packed in containers / pouch / bottle / box / bag. More particularly the invention relates to containers with a mechanism for discharge like straw / spout / tube with or without cap or any other types of reclosure mechanism that is common in art that are tethered as well as other opening and closure mechanisms and potential methods of manufacture thereof. Also, for new markets of pouches and containers with types of closures that are not existing. Background of invention Straw is an integral part of drinking for kids in certain age group. It mimics the sucking of milk which was the case in their first experience of drinking. Accordingly, it has an important role in the transition of kids from consuming foods as they were used-to to what they will get used to as adults. The best material for straw to function properly and play its aforementioned role perfectly is from group of materials commonly known as plastics. So, for years packaging and consumer goods companies offered plastic straw with their products as means of drinking for kids. Littering of plastic straws is found to be damaging for environment. Consequently, countries around the world started to ban it. The alternative proposed and used solution is paper straw. Paper has proven not to be the right material for straw to play its role as it's been mentioned in the initial paragraph. There are lots of negative aspects like, getting soggy, not chewable, deformation and not piercing easily are some examples of why the paper straw is disliked by many kids and parents. Also, paper straw in contact with liquid food can break into pieces which become problematic (e.g. choking hazards) for kids and their parents. Pieces of paper can be bitten in mouth and become suffocation hazard. These problems are intensified by disability. While single use plastic straw is banned in some places around the globe, the opening / closure mechanisms that are made of plastic but are attached / tethered to packaging that become a single packaging system with rest of packaging are allowed. Consequently, there is a need for a new opening / closure that can replicate the experience of straw while not being counted as single use straw. In another words, a new drink from solution is preferred if that can replicate the experience of drinking from a tube without causing littering. Spouted pouches are used typically for baby food and drinks. Majority of these products are single use that means they would never be reclosed to be used later. Accordingly, the cap is not necessary for reclosure of the pouch. Cap is usually made of the bulky piece of plastic to avoid the choking hazard. Also, plastic caps are one of the major sources of plastic littering. Although, cap has all these problems and it's not necessary for single use applications, but it is not possible to have a spouted pouch without a cap in the existing form of spout and cap system. As spout is attached at the boundary of pouch it is not possible to remove the cap from the packaging in its existing form even if it is not necessary for the user. The method of sealing the spout at the edge to form the spouted pouches is more demanding with higher chance of leakage due to the variety of reasons like sensitivity of material and sealing. However, the chance of leakage is much less if the pouch is sealed flat around its boundaries. A closure is an integral part of packaging for consumable products like beverages and liquid food. It is commonly in the form of cap which is rotated by the user. Accordingly, it has an important role in the user experience. The common material for caps to function properly and play its aforementioned role perfectly is from group of materials commonly known as plastics. So, for years packaging and consumer goods companies offered plastic closures with their products. Littering of plastic caps is found to be damaging for environment. Consequently, countries around the world started to ban it. The alternative proposed and used solution is tethered cap. This means the cap and rest of packaging would be recycled all together. Some type of packaging has significant amount of paper / cardboard in their material combination. Plastic cap has proven not to be the right material for these type of packaging in terms of recycling since paper and plastic are two different streams of recycling. There are other aspects like, rigidity and manufacturing easily as some examples of why the plastic cap is used by many manufacturers of boxes for drinks. Accordingly, a paper / cardboard base packaging has a plastic closure because of lack of way to mass manufacture a paper closure with comparable features adequately. Consequently, there is a need for a new apparatus that can replace the role of cap and being made from similar material as rest of packaging. In another words, a new apparatus is preferred if that can replicate the experience of closure for packaging that a solution for recycling is needed. Summary of the invention It would be desirable to have an opening / closure for a container (carton or box or pouch or bottle) that can offer the functionality and experience of spout or straw or any other type of conduit that let the user to move part of the opening and closure partially in relation to the container / juice box / pouch but not remove it completely. Similarly, it would be desirable to have associated techniques that prevent the need for recycling the straw / cap as a single piece. Similarly, it would be desirable to have an opening / closure for a container (carton or box or pouch or bottle) that can offer the functionality and experience of pouring from or drink from or any other type of apparatus that let the user to move part of the opening and closure partially in relation to the container / beverage box / pouch to get access to its content. Similarly, it would be desirable to have associated techniques that prevent the need for recycling the cap as a single piece. Also, it would be desirable to have a paper closure for liquid food and beverages that are packed in cartoon packaging. It's objective of present invention to be an apparatus that can be used as alternative to attachments that are needed for packaging system for opening or (re)closure of container. Some examples of benefits are like cost saving, plastic reduction, sustainability by less littering and better consumer perception. Similarly, it's objective of present invention to be considered as single packaging system with container and not as a separate piece that can be detached within the normal use of packaging. Disclosed is a new device (and its manufacturing process) that can open and / or close a packaging. It consists of pipe, connection mechanism and piercing instrument. Pipe provides means of movement for content of packaging after the piercing means has been used to open the packaging. Connection mechanism lets the pipe to be moved to certain distance from the container while pipe is trapped within the predetermined boundaries. Additionally, a wrapper and a cap can be added to the packaging to cover the pipe for hygiene and reclosure purposes. Some examples of piercing means can be sharp end of pipe or protruding of connection mechanism. Pipe can be extension of either or both piercing instrument and attachment mechanism. Attachment place is where the connection mechanism is adhered to the packaging. It is preferred to have an easy pierceable place on the packaging so the user can use the piercing instrument like sharp end to push through the barrier and open the packaging so the content can flow through the adjacent pipe. Similarly, disclosed is a new mechanism / technology / system that can replicate the experience of straw / spout. It consists of pipe, hindrance mechanisms and pipe holder. Pipe holder provides means of restricting movement of pipe to certain distance from the container while pipe is trapped within the predetermined boundaries by hindrance mechanism. It's further objective of present invention to be a new opening / closure that replicates the experience of straw / spout while being counted as a single packaging system with rest of packaging and not being counted in regulatory terms as stand-alone piece. Meeting the regulatory requirement will help the adaptation of present invention by packaging companies in marketplaces where littering of plastic straws is banned. This is needed because the alternative solutions like paper straw and spouted pouches have lots of downsides in terms of user experience, sustainability and manufacturing. It's further objective of present invention to be manufacturable by the way of adaptation of manufacturing process for paper tubes. These adaptations are parts of the present invention novelty. For example, connection mechanism can be a tube that is collapsible longitudinally that is preferred. This kind of tube can be made of plastic or paper. In case of paper there is no such a thing in art so part of present invention is to propose how this feature can be built into a paper tube manufacturing process. This can be done via introduction of special shaped rollers that form the corrugation on the paper ply in their way to form the tube after binding to each other. It's further objective of present invention to be used for cups with lids. The tube can be adhered to both container and its cap. If the cap is tethered then tube will be tethered indirectly. It's further objective of present invention is execution of wrapper that is used commonly for hygiene reason be part of the present invention. Preferably, it will be tethered like the rest parts of the present invention to the packaging. It's further objective of present invention that it is adhered strongly to the box. Adhesion mechanism can be of any material: plastic, paper, biomaterial, plant base. It's further objective of present invention to use both physical and chemical mechanism for attachment of parts as well as restriction of movements of parts of present invention in relation to each other. It's further objective of present invention to be used discretionary for applications where the tethering isn't important. For example, if the apparatus is made of paper, then legally there is no requirement for its tethering in places the tethering of plastic closures is enforced. In the case of paper application, the attachment mechanisms can be looser. It is further objective of present invention to utilise the piece of packaging commonly known as wrapper to retain the tube in close vicinity of the rest of packaging. The pipe is placed inside the wrapper as such that it can only partially move in respect to the packaging and will not be detached completely. Wrapper from one point is attached to the tube and at another place it is attached to the box. It is further objective of present invention that one end of straw will be used by user to drink from it and the other end will be placed inside the drink / food. The wrapper hinders the complete detachment of straw from the packaging. In this system all of straw, wrapper and box together become single packaging system together. It's further objective of present invention to avoid the littering. Because the littering of straw is associated with environmental issues. These issues caused people to demand from companies and governments for solution. That resulted in the movement towards the paper straw while the problem was the littering of straw not its material. Consequently, present invention is novel because although the attachment mechanism like glue as well as wrapper have been existed, no one has solved the environmental problems of littering of plastic straw by using the methods in present invention to tether it to the packaging. It is further objective of present invention that sides of wrapper are made of two types of materials for example, varieties of plastics. One side is made of weaker film that let the straw pierce through the wrapper and also let the wrapper wrinkle. The other face is made of stronger material. The stronger side is attached to both straw and box to prevent detachment / littering of straw. It is further objective of present invention that applicator of straw and wrapper to the box has more than one type of glue or use same glue in different amounts to achieve the possibility of having various types of attachment between tethering mechanism / wrapper and container / box. For example, wrapper can be attached to the box as such that if needed in addition to a strong permanent glue / adhesive also, another weaker glue (breakaway glue) be used. The purpose of secondary adhesion is to keep the wrapper and straw inside it in appropriate position while user would be able to detach wrapper partially at the time of use. Present invention is unique when compared with other known apparatus for opening and closure of a packaging because the pipe is used as such to be considered an opening / closure mechanism with rest of packaging. Also, it can be compatible with wide range of material from paper to plastic. In addition, the disclosed manufacturing process of present invention is in line with existing and future manufacturing processes common in art specially packaging industry. The attention to environmental benefit as well as the user experience, the manufacturing process, transportation and storage advantage are parts of the core importance and uniqueness of the present invention. Present invention is unique when compared with other known containers with tethered spout or straw or cap because the pipe is tethered as such to be considered an opening / closure mechanism with rest of packaging as single packaging system as it is commonly recognised by experts in the industry. FIG.12, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, two rollers with a shape and configuration are shown as part of manufacturing process to make the present invention apparatus from paper. FIG.13, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, a rod is shown that can be used instead of the rode that is commonly used to roll the paper around it in the manufacturing of paper straw. FIG.14, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of manufacturing part of the present invention. FIG.15, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of manufacturing present invention. In here wheel 442 rotates in direction 441. Handel 443 is used to grab connection mechanism 15 and hold it until it is placed around the tube 11. Referring now to FIG.l, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here tube 11 is attached / glued / adhered 152 inside the connection mechanism 15. Connection mechanism 15 has a corrugated part 260 which in this diagram is extended and folded for keeping preferably sharp end 261 (as of piercing mechanism) near the piercing spot 22. Connection mechanism 15 is attached / glued / adhered to the container 21 itself or through another element for example part 262. As mentioned previously, a protective wrapper / envelope 133 maybe used as shown here. Referring now to FIG.2, a diagram is shown illustrating same variation of the present invention as FIG.l. Here shows the stage for this variation of present invention where corrugated part 260 of the connection mechanism 15 is collapsed / unextended by the user and the tube 11 have got access to the inside of the container 21 by piercing through the spot 22. Preferably the protective wrapper / envelope 133 is strongly attached to the container 21 and become collapsed on its own at this stage. Referring now to FIG.3, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here tube 11 with connection mechanism 15 and its sharp end 261 is the apparatus which is used for opening of the packaging. The shapes, forms and sizes all are for demonstration and drawn for illustrative purposes. All other perceived variations that are formed by the similar principles are part of the present invention. The part 260 although is shown as part of connection mechanism 15 but it can be part of pipe 11 alternatively. This is because the function of this part 260 in letting the apparatus extend and collapse as well as folding and unfolding flexibility are important function for present invention and is location or shape or form is interchangeable. Making a paper tube with such a function hasn't been done in art. In the industry paper straw, which in essence is a paper tube is made but it hasn't been made as such to be extended and collapsed like plastic straw used to be. As of part of present invention is to make the apparatus that is shown here in paper. Part of that manufacturing process would be making a paper tube which can be extended. Two things can be done to make this feature built with paper tube. One part of process is to use rollers as shown in other figures to form the corrugation shape before / after / while when paper is rolled to become a tube. The second part is an option to build a memory into the paper by pushing / pulling it from the ends. Referring now to FIG.4, a diagram is shown illustrating a similar variation of the present invention as FIG.l. Tube 11 is attached / glued / adhered 152 to the connection mechanism 15. Holder 15 is attached / glued / adhered 131 to the container / box 21. In here if the user drink from the apparatus his / her lips will potentially touch the tube 11 whereas in variation of apparatus that is shown in figure 1 it will touch the connection mechanism 15. Also, in here wrapper which was an optional feature has been removed. Referring now to FIG.5, a diagram is shown illustrating a similar variation of the present invention to FIG.4. Referring now to FIG.6, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. Tube 11 is strongly attached / glued / adhered 131 to the container / box 21. The internal elements / structure are not shown here. Referring now to FIG.7, a diagram is shown illustrating a similar variation of the present invention as FIG.l, however, with a different shape of container 21. This is an example to emphasise the fact that present invention can be applied and implemented / executed on a wide range of containers with different shapes, sizes and formats. Referring now to FIG.8, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, the cap 81 can be screw or click on or plug in or any other type of cap or closure. It can be tethered to the box or pipe, or it can be separable. The shape / form in here is shown preferably as such the user be able to hold it conveniently. This shape is only as an example and the apparatus and cap can have other shapes and forms to deliver the result. Referring now to FIG.9, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, an example of variations in shapes and forms is shown to illustrate how different functions can be delivered regardless of the means / features. Referring now to FIG.10, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, the apparatus for opening and closure of packaging is shown separate from the packaging. Base 101 is part of the connection mechanism 15. Base 101 can be attached to the packaging similarly to other closures that are commonly attached to the carton packaging. This will help implementation of present invention straight forward. In production line applicator of closures can be modified for attachment of present apparatus to the packaging. This save the CapEx since few parts of the line are affected by this change. The present invention covers the apparatus and its variations, their manufacturing and their attachment mechanism to the packaging including changes need on the production line. For example, in case of making apparatus from paper then its attachment via glue can be different from existing closures in terms of type of glue and the drying time. Referring now to FIG.11, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, a variation of apparatus is shown on its own. The function of connection mechanism 15 has been replaced by the envelope 133 which would be attached to the packaging via part 131. The envelope 133 is adhered to the tube 11 at 152 very similar to the way connection mechanism 15 used to be attached to the tube 11. This illustration is only an example to show how features of present invention can become to life in different shapes and forms and none of the figures are limiting the extent of these variations. Referring now to FIG.12, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, two rollers with a shape and configuration are shown as part of manufacturing process to make the present invention apparatus from paper. These two rollers are example of how a strip of paper can be corrugated to be used for part of the apparatus as shown in other figures (connection mechanism 15). If the paper pass through these rollers or similar ones, then the paper can be used similarly it is used to for manufacturing of paper straw (tube) to make a corrugated tube that expand and collapse. This paper tube that can collapse / expand can be used as needed for making the present invention. Referring now to FIG.13, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, a rod is shown that can be used instead of the rode that is commonly used to roll the paper around it in the manufacturing of paper straw so a paper tube is made with possibility of expansion and collapsing along it to be used for formation of part of the apparatus that is presented in other figures. Referring now to FIG.14, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of manufacturing part of the present invention. Both connection mechanism 15 and tubes 11 are moved in direction 391 while connection mechanism 15 are simultaneously pushed in direction 392. This will result in part of apparatus being formed. Referring now to FIG.15, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of manufacturing present invention. In here wheel 442 rotates in direction 441. Handel 443 is used to grab connection mechanism 15 and hold it until it is placed around the tube 11. When the connection mechanism is placed around the tube 11 the film / sticks 12 will form the bond between them. The extension 16 of connection mechanism 15 will be attached to the packaging. That's how the holder 15 can be used as an intermediary part in tethering of tube 11 to the packaging. The similar principle can be used for formation of the cap for reclosure of the apparatus in present invention. For the present invention in here the container shown as a common shape of juice / milk boxes / pouches, however the shape is not limited to this, and it can be of multiple shapes or forms etc. The straw / tube can also be of different forms or variations for example simple straight straw, single or multiple corrugated, U-straw, flat end straw and etc. And also, for other parts of the present invention variations exist as mentioned before but not limited to them. Different features, variations and multiple different embodiments have been shown and described with various details. What has been described in this application at times in terms of specific embodiments is done for illustrative purposes only and without the intent to limit or suggest that what has been conceived is only one particular embodiment or specific embodiments. It is to be understood that this disclosure is not limited to any single specific embodiments or enumerated variations. Many modifications, variations and other embodiments will come to mind of those skilled in the art, and which are intended to be and are in fact covered by this disclosure. It is indeed intended that the scope of this disclosure should be determined by a proper legal interpretation and construction of the disclosure, including equivalents, as understood by those of skill in the art relying upon the complete disclosure present at the time of filing. The invention has now been described in detail for purposes of clarity and understanding. However, it will be appreciated that certain changes and modifications may be practiced within the scope of the specification. Accordingly, it should be recognized that many other systems, functions, methods, and combinations thereof are possible in accordance with the present invention. Thus, although the invention is described with reference to specific embodiments and figures thereof, the embodiments and figures are merely illustrative, and not limiting of the invention. Following are descriptions for figures in part B (pages 16 to 87 of drawings) Referring now to FIG. 1, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which conduit / tube 11 has passed through holder 15. While tube 11 and holder 15 can slide through / over each other, two hindering mechanisms 12 and 13 block the either ends of tube 11 from passing through the hole inside the part 15. Hindrance mechanisms 12 and 13 can be formed by various means such as additional part like a ring, enlargement of diameter of tube or additional strip of film being wrapped around the tube. The tube 11 is shown with circular cross section as an example and any other variation of cross section or form is possible to be used. In that regards the cross section of hole inside part 15 and its shell can vary. Flap 16 is shown as an example of extension for part 15. The function of 16 is to provide attachment place / tethering means for present invention to the container. One end of the tube 11 will pierce the container to give user access for drinking. If parts 11 and 15 are fixed to each other then part 16 should provide a means for enough movement of head of tube 11 for the function of present invention. Tube 11 can have various shape for its cross section along its length, for example part of it can be square and part circle. In the same way, tube 11 can be made of different material, for example part of it can be paper and part of it plastic. Referring now to FIG. 2, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which holder 15 is restricting movement of tube 11 to certain distance from box 21. Tube 11 is trapped in holder 15 by hindrance mechanisms 12 and 13. Holder 15 is fixed to the box 21 by optional extension 16, otherwise it should be attached directly. Tube 11 pierce through hole 22 to enter the box 21. Location and shape of hole 22 can be anywhere on the box and any shape. Accordingly, the tube 11, holder 15 and part 16 should be altered / modified as such the function remain acceptable. Referring now to FIG. 3, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of manufacturing the present invention. In section A, part 15 is oriented as such to be combined with part 11 by being moved in direction 31. Parts 15 and 11 can swap their position and movements. In section B, part 15 is already positioned in right place in relation to part 11. In section C, the hindrance mechanism 13 is attached to the part 11. Although hindrance mechanisms and parts 11,15 are shown in certain shape but these are only examples and other shapes, and forms are considered part of invention. For example, hindrance mechanisms can be bumps or drop of plastic on tube 11. Referring now to FIG. 4, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which a protective layer 44 has been wrapped around the new opening mechanism to keep it sanitary for the user and avoid the contamination. Referring now to FIG. 5, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which it has been attached to the box while protective layer 44 is covering the crucial parts for hygiene purposes. Part 16 is partially covered while passes through the boundary of cover 44. Referring now to FIG. 6, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which there is a space 64 between or outside the two layers of the pouch 66 above the top seal 65. One end of tube holder 63 can be place in this space or on the walls inside or outside, front or back sealed or glued. The other end of tube holder 62 is wrapped around tube 61. 61 and 62 can be fixed to each other or slide through. In case of sliding, ends of tube 61 should have hindrance mechanisms. Referring now to FIG. 7, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of a stage in manufacturing of the present invention in which 62 being wrapped around the tube 61 in the shown direction. This provides a means of attachment of tube to the packaging as shown in other figures. Referring now to FIG. 8, a diagram is shown illustrating another variation of attachment of part 62 and tube 61. The shape and forms can vary with the principle of which is the 62 is bounded to the tube 61 (sealed, glued, sliding, wrapped). Tube is used as an example and any other type of conduit like column or spout are possible to be used for present invention. Referring now to FIG. 9, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention in which it has been used for pouch. Hindrance should be placed as such the functionality of straws is maximised. Also, executed to meet the need for avoiding Referring now to FIG. 10, diagrams are shown illustrating examples of variations of conduit 11. In some cases that the conduit is made of materials like paper then the tethering mechanism might not be essential, and the conduit can be used as of new opening mechanism on its own which user can drink / eat through it. Referring now to FIG.11, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. Part (A) shows the stage before tube 11 piercing through hole cover 22 to get access to the contents of the container 21. Part (B) shows the stage after the user got access to the contents of the container 21 using tube 11. Tube 11 is strongly attached / glued / adhered 131 to the container / box 21 at a preferred location. Referring now to FIG.12, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here, tube 11 and holder 15 are included in one piece. Tube 11 at a preferred location, can become strongly attached / glued / adhered 131 to a container / box. Referring now to FIG.13, a diagram is shown illustrating a variation of the present invention. In here holder 15 preferably from its holder attachment place 16 has strongly attached / glued / adhered 131 to the container / box 21. A hole 132 within the holder 15 allows the tube 11 to pass / slide through, however the movement of the tube in holder 15 is restricted by hindering mechanisms 12 and 13. Tube 11 may have a corrugation 14 through which it can extend. Preferably a protective wrapper / envelope 133 can protect and keep the tube 11 clean / sanitary before the use, this can be useful in some cases such as present invention being used for liquid food applications. The protective wrapper / envelope 133 can be sealed / closed at any preferred location such as location 134. The tube can pierce through the predetermined hole cover 22 to provide access to the liquid enclosed in the container / box 21.
