Claims

1. A board game apparatus comprising a playing board and a plurality of playing pieces wherein the playing board comprises a plurality of playing locations and each playing location comprises a ferromagnetic sensor, and each playing piece comprising a ferromagnetic locator.

2. A board game apparatus according to claim 1 comprising one or more hall sensor.

3. A board game apparatus according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the board comprises a ferrous section.

4. A board game apparatus according to claim 1,2 or 3 wherein the ferromagnetic locator comprises a neodymium tracking magnet.

5. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein each playing location comprises a light emitting diode.

6. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein each playing piece comprises a light emitting diode.

7. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein each playing piece comprises translucent or transparent section.

8. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein the playing board comprises one or more display adapted to show a plurality of messages.

9. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein the playing board comprises a rechargeable battery.

10. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein the board comprises a checkerboard.

11. A board game apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein the playing pieces comprise chess set playing pieces.

12. A board for apparatus according to any of the preceding claims.

13. A playing piece for apparatus according to any of the preceding claims 1 to 11.

14. A method of playing chess using apparatus according to any of preceding claims 1 to 11.
