Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a resin composition having excellent transparent design properties and a molded article containing the same. [Background technology]
[0002] In recent years, canned coffee, coffee vending machines, instant coffee, etc. have been consumed in large quantities, and a large amount of coffee extraction residue is generated at the manufacturing plants of these products, major chain cafes, etc. Until now, the residue has often been disposed of by landfilling, incineration, etc., but with the increase in the amount generated and the growing interest in environmental issues, it is becoming difficult to dispose of it in such a way. Effective utilization of coffee extraction residue is an important issue for the future from the viewpoint of environmental issues as well.
[0003] On the other hand, there are new attempts to develop new and useful bio-derived materials, that is, environmentally friendly materials with a high biomass ratio (plant-based ratio), excellent environmental performance such as reduced carbon dioxide emissions and reduced fossil raw materials, and low environmental impact when disposed of. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a food tray made of an olefin resin containing natural organic matter extraction residue as an effective utilization method for coffee extraction residue as a biomass material. Patent Documents 2 and 3 disclose thermoplastic resin compositions using coffee extraction residue as a filler. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0004] [Patent Document 1] Patent Publication No. 2000-281917 [Patent Document 2] Patent Publication No. 5-277460 [Patent Document 3] Patent Publication No. 2010-138238 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] However, the resin compositions described in Patent Documents 1 to 3 use base resins such as polypropylene resins that have low heat resistance and light transmittance, and therefore do not provide sufficient heat resistance and light transmittance, and their applications are limited to packaging materials and molded articles for miscellaneous goods.
[0006] The present invention aims to provide a molded article that contains a biomass material, has a low environmental impact when disposed of, and yet has excellent transparent design properties that accentuate the presence of the biomass without reducing the inherent properties of polycarbonate resin as much as possible, and a resin composition from which the molded article can be produced. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] As a result of intensive research into solving the above problems, the inventors have found that the above problems can be solved by blending a specific amount of coffee extraction residue (C) with a polycarbonate resin (A) and a transparent polyester resin (B), and have thus completed the present invention.

[0009] The present invention (2) is the resin composition having excellent transparent design property according to the present invention (1), in which the transparent polyester-based resin (B) is at least one selected from the group consisting of polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate resin, polybutylene adipate terephthalate resin, and polycaprolactone resin.
[0010] The present invention (3) relates to the resin composition having excellent transparent design property according to the present invention (2), in which the transparent polyester resin (B) is a polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate resin.

[0012] The present invention (5) is the resin composition having excellent transparent designability according to any one of the present inventions (1) to (4), further comprising 1 mass % or less of an antioxidant (D).
[0013] The present invention (6) is the resin composition having excellent transparent design property according to any one of the present inventions (1) to (5), further comprising one or more selected from the group consisting of a colorant, a release agent, a softener, an antistatic agent and an impact modifier.
[0014] The present invention (7) is a molded article comprising the resin composition having excellent transparent design property according to any one of the present inventions (1) to (6). Effect of the Invention

[0016] The embodiments will be described in detail below. However, more detailed explanations than necessary may be omitted. For example, detailed explanations of already well-known matters or duplicate explanations of substantially the same configurations may be omitted. This is to avoid the following explanation becoming unnecessarily redundant and to facilitate understanding by those skilled in the art. Note that the inventors provide the following explanations to enable those skilled in the art to fully understand the present invention, and do not intend to limit the subject matter described in the claims.
[0017] The resin composition of the present invention, which has excellent transparent design properties, is characterized by containing 0.05 to 18 parts by mass of coffee extraction residue (C) per 100 parts by mass of a resin component consisting of 50 to 99% by mass of polycarbonate resin (A) and 1 to 50% by mass of transparent polyester resin (B).
[0018] The polycarbonate resin (A) used in the present invention is a polymer obtained by the phosgene process in which various dihydroxydiaryl compounds are reacted with phosgene, or the ester exchange process in which a dihydroxydiaryl compound is reacted with a carbonate ester such as diphenyl carbonate, and a representative example is an aromatic polycarbonate resin produced from 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane (bisphenol A).
[0019] Examples of the dihydroxydiaryl compound include, in addition to bisphenol A, bis(hydroxyaryl)alkanes such as bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)methane, 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)butane, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)octane, bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)phenylmethane, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl-3-methylphenyl)propane, 1,1-bis(4-hydroxy-3-tert-butylphenyl)propane, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3-bromophenyl)propane, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)propane, and 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorophenyl)propane; bis(hydroxyaryl)cycloalkanes such as 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclopentane and 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane; dihydroxydiaryl ethers such as 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether and 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-dimethyldiphenyl ether; dihydroxydiaryl sulfides such as 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide; dihydroxydiaryl sulfoxides such as 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-dimethyldiphenyl sulfoxide; and dihydroxydiaryl sulfones such as 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone and 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-dimethyldiphenyl sulfone.
[0020] These can be used alone or in combination of two or more, but those that are not substituted with halogens are preferred from the viewpoint of preventing the emission of gases containing the halogens into the environment during combustion. In addition to these, piperazine, dipiperidylhydroquinone, resorcinol, 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl, etc. may also be used in combination.
[0021] Furthermore, the above dihydroxyaryl compounds may be used in combination with the following trivalent or higher phenolic compounds: Trivalent or higher phenolic compounds include phloroglucin, 4,6-dimethyl-2,4,6-tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-heptene, 2,4,6-dimethyl-2,4,6-tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-heptane, 1,3,5-tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-benzene, 1,1,1-tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethane, and 2,2-bis-[4,4-(4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl)-cyclohexyl]-propane.
[0022] The viscosity average molecular weight of the polycarbonate resin (A) is not particularly limited, but is usually 10,000 to 100,000, more preferably 15,000 to 30,000, and even more preferably 16,000 to 26,000, from the viewpoints of moldability and strength. In addition, when producing such a polycarbonate resin, a molecular weight regulator, a catalyst, etc. can be used as necessary. The viscosity average molecular weight is measured by preparing a 0.5 mass% solution of the polycarbonate resin in methylene chloride as a solvent, measuring the specific viscosity (ηsp) at a temperature of 20°C using a Cannon-Fenske type viscometer, determining the limiting viscosity [η] by concentration conversion, and calculating the viscosity average molecular weight from the following Schnell formula. [η] = 1.23 × 10 -4 M 0.83
[0023] The polycarbonate resin (A) may contain recycled polycarbonate resin.
[0024] The transparent polyester resin (B) used in the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it can be blended with a polycarbonate resin and has transparency, and examples of the resin include polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate resin (PCT), polybutylene adipate terephthalate resin (PBAT), polycaprolactone resin (PCL), etc. Among them, polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate resin (PCT) is preferred from the viewpoint of heat resistance.
[0025] PCT is a transparent polyester resin obtained by polycondensation of a terephthalic acid polycondensation component, which is a dicarboxylic acid polycondensation component, and a glycol polycondensation component containing preferably 40 mol% or more of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol. PCT includes not only PCT homopolymers (PCT), but also PCT terminals modified with glycols (PCTG), and copolymers copolymerized with diol components such as tetramethylcyclobutanediol (TMCD). Commercially available resins include, for example, polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate-glycol copolyester (SK Chemicals' SKY GREEN JN200) and poly(1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate) copolyester (Eastman Kecal's Tritan TX1001).
[0026] PBAT is a petroleum-derived, biodegradable aromatic polyester (hydrolysis type) made from BDO (1.4-BG), terephthalic acid, and adipic acid, and is a material that combines the excellent decomposition performance of aliphatic polyesters with the excellent mechanical properties of aromatic polyesters. Commercially available resins include, for example, PBAT A400 manufactured by WANGO.
[0027] PCL is a transparent polyester resin produced by ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone in the presence of a catalyst, and a homopolymer of 2-oxepanone is preferably used. It also includes polycaprolactone modified by coexisting with 1,4-butanediol during ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone, and modified polycaprolactone in which the molecular end is substituted with an ether or ester group. The viscosity average molecular weight of polycaprolactone is preferably 10,000 to 100,000, and more preferably 40,000 to 90,000. Commercially available resins include CAPA6500C (viscosity average molecular weight: 50,000) and CAPA6800 (viscosity average molecular weight: 80,000) manufactured by Solvay, and Tone Polymer P-787 (viscosity average molecular weight: 80,000) manufactured by Dow Chemical Co.
[0028] The transparent polyester resin (B) may be used alone or in combination of a plurality of resin components.
[0029] The blending amount of the transparent polyester resin (B) is 1 to 50% by mass in the resin components of the polycarbonate resin (A) and the transparent polyester resin, but is preferably 5 to 40% by mass. If it is less than 1% by mass, the fluidity during melting is poor, and when the processing temperature is increased, problems such as the decomposition of the coffee extraction residue (C) occur, whereas if it exceeds 50% by mass, the heat resistance decreases.
[0030] The coffee extraction residue (C) used in the present invention is the residue obtained after coffee beans are ground into powder using a mill or the like and extracted as coffee. The coffee extraction residue contains alkaloids such as caffeine, and therefore has high antiseptic and insecticidal properties, and also acts as a deodorant against bad odors due to the combined action of the odor peculiar to coffee and these multiple components. The coffee extraction residue can be obtained, for example, as Tully's coffee extraction residue. In addition, the coffee extraction residue contains a lot of moisture, and there is a risk of causing decomposition of the resin during granulation, so a previously dried one is used. There are no particular limitations on the drying method as long as it removes moisture from the coffee extraction residue, but a general hot air circulation type drying device is used, and the drying temperature is 110 to 140°C and the drying time is about 2 to 4 hours. More preferably, the drying temperature is 130°C and the drying time is 2 hours.
[0031] The moisture content of the coffee extraction residue (C) is preferably less than 30%, more preferably less than 10%, and even more preferably less than 5%. If it is 30% or more, the moldability may be insufficient. The moisture content can be measured by measuring the mass before and after drying.
[0032] The coffee extract residue (C) may be used in combination with optional ingredients that can be mixed and treated with a polymer binder, such as wood chips or powder, calcium carbonate, talc or ceramic powder, metal powders such as aluminum and copper (static charge removers), activated carbon, zeolite particles, and other functional materials.
[0033] The amount of coffee extract residue (C) is 0.05 to 18 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the resin component consisting of polycarbonate resin (A) and transparent polyester resin (B). If it is less than 0.05 parts by mass, the presence of biomass becomes obscured, and if it exceeds 18 parts by mass, the light transmittance decreases. The amount is preferably 0.1 to 10 parts by mass, and more preferably 1 to 10 parts by mass.
[0034] The resin composition of the present invention having excellent transparent designability preferably further contains an antioxidant (D).

(SK Chemicals SKY GREEN JN200) 3. (C) Coffee extraction residue Tully's coffee extraction residue 4. (D) Antioxidants: 4-1.[1,1´-biphenyl]-4,4-diylbis[bis(2,4-di-t-butylphenoxy)phosphine] (abbreviated as "AO1") (Sandstub P-EPQ manufactured by Clariant Japan Co., Ltd.) 4-2. Tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)phosphite (abbreviated as "AO2") (BASF Irgafos 168) 5. Others (resins used as comparative examples) Polypropylene resin (abbreviated as "PP") (BC03C manufactured by Japan Polypropylene Corporation)
[0073] Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 The various ingredients were mixed in a tumbler with the ingredients and ratios shown in Table 1, and melt-kneaded at a cylinder temperature of 230°C using a single-screw extruder (VS40 mm extruder, manufactured by Tanabe Plastics Machinery Co., Ltd.) to obtain various pellets. The pellets were evaluated by the methods shown below, and the evaluation results are shown in Table 1.
[0074] <Transparent design> A 23,000 lux light source was shone on a 3 mm molded product from a position 3 cm away from the molded product, and it was visually observed whether the light passed through to the molded surface opposite the light source, and evaluated according to the following criteria. 〇: Light can be seen on the molded surface, and the transparent design is excellent △: Light can be seen on the molded surface, but the transparent design is insufficient ×: No light can be seen on the molded surface, and the transparent design is poor.
[0075] <dtul> Using the pellets obtained, 1 / 4-inch-thick test pieces for deflection under load were made using a Toshiba Machine 100-ton injection molding machine, and the deflection temperature under load (DTUL) was measured in accordance with ASTM D648. The test pieces were not annealed. A deflection temperature under load of 90°C or higher was considered to pass.
[0076] <Productivity> During the process from melt kneading in a twin-screw extruder to pelletization, the state of the strand emerging from the tip of the extruder was visually observed and evaluated according to the following criteria. 〇: The strands are stable and pelletization is possible. △: Strands are sometimes distorted or broken, but pellets can be made. ×: Strands are frequently distorted or broken, making it difficult to produce pellets (difficult to granulate)
[0077] [Table 1]
[0078] From the evaluation results shown in Table 1, it was confirmed that the transparent design resin compositions of Examples 1 to 4 were excellent in transparent design, heat resistance, and productivity. On the other hand, the resin composition of Comparative Example 1 was poor in productivity and could not be granulated. In addition, the resin composition of Comparative Example 2 had no problems with productivity, but did not express a transparent design. [Industrial Applicability]
[0079] The transparent design resin composition of the present invention is an environmentally friendly material that contains coffee extract residue, which is a biomass material, and has a low environmental impact when disposed of. It is a material that has a good appearance when molded and can impart a design characteristic of biomass materials.
