Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to an active energy ray-curable composition, a cured coating film, and a laminate film. [Background technology]
[0002] A hard coat layer is provided on the surface of an optical display such as a liquid crystal display to protect the display from scratches. The coating material used for the hard coat layer of such an optical display needs to ensure adhesion to the substrate without any defective appearance of the coating film when applied. In addition, the coating material is generally diluted with an organic solvent to reduce the viscosity of the coating material and increase the wettability to the substrate. When forming a coating film from a solvent-based coating material, a process of drying the solvent after application is essential, but from the viewpoint of carbon neutrality, it is preferable to reduce the drying process, which is a large energy load during the manufacturing process. In addition, from the viewpoint of reducing VOCs to reduce the burden on the environment, the development of a solvent-free hard coat coating material is required.
[0003] When designing a solvent-free hard-coat coating material, the issues are how to reduce the viscosity of the coating material for application, how to ensure adhesion to the substrate, and how to achieve hard-coat properties. To achieve hard-coat properties, it is necessary to increase the crosslink density in the coating film, but polyfunctional monomers tend to have high viscosity depending on their molecular weight and polarity.
[0004] For example, in order to solve the above problems, the following Patent Document 1 uses a monofunctional (meth)acrylate having a vinyl ether group and / or an allyl ether group and no hydroxyl group, and a trifunctional or higher (meth)acrylate having no hydroxyl group. Also, the following Patent Document 2 uses an acrylate mixture mainly composed of a specific glycerin triacrylate, a compound having one or two ethylenically unsaturated groups, and a compound having three or more ethylenically unsaturated groups. [0005] [Patent Document 1] JP 2013-136737 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2019-196461 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] In Patent Document 1, a trifunctional or higher (meth)acrylate is used to provide hard coat properties, so the viscosity of the composition is still high. In Patent Document 2, the compound having an ethylenically unsaturated group used as a viscosity diluent has a viscosity of about 20 mPa·s, and there is a limit to how much the viscosity of the composition can be reduced. This makes coating difficult depending on the coating method. In addition, using a monofunctional monomer with a lower viscosity as a diluent as in these conventional technologies has the effect of reducing the viscosity, but there is a problem that the hardness of the coating film decreases and the hard coat properties are lost.
[0007] As mentioned above, in order to have excellent coating suitability regardless of the coating method, it is necessary to reduce the viscosity of the coating composition, but when a monofunctional monomer is used as a diluent, the viscosity can be reduced, but the crosslink density in the cured coating film decreases, resulting in a decrease in hard coat properties. When a bifunctional monomer is used as a diluent, the viscosity can be reduced to a certain extent while maintaining hardness, but there is a limit to the effect of reducing the viscosity.
[0008] Therefore, there has been a demand for materials that have sufficiently low viscosity even in solvent-free systems that use almost no solvent (solvent content of 5% by mass or less) and that can form cured coating films that have high hardness, adhesion, and curl resistance.
[0009] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an active energy ray-curable composition, a cured coating film, and a laminate film that are capable of forming a cured coating film that has low viscosity with almost no use of a solvent and has high hardness, adhesion, and curl resistance, and that is excellent in terms of both hardness and adhesion and curl resistance. [Means for solving the problem]
[0010] Means for Solving the Problems The present inventors conducted intensive research to solve the above problems and discovered that by using a low-viscosity multifunctional (meth)acrylate and a bifunctional monomer having a specific reactive group, it is possible to form a cured coating film that has a sufficiently low viscosity (<20 mPa s) and is excellent in hardness, adhesion and curl resistance, even when the organic solvent content is 5 mass% or less, and thus completed the present invention.
[0011] That is, the present invention provides the following inventions. [1] An active energy ray-curable composition comprising the following components (A) and (B), in which the content of component (A) is 40% by mass to 89% by mass, the content of component (B) is 10% by mass to 60% by mass, and the content of organic solvent is 5% by mass or less: Component (A): A polyfunctional (meth)acrylate with a viscosity of 100 mPa s or less at 25°C (excluding component (B)) Component (B): a bifunctional monomer having a reactive site represented by the following formula (1) and a viscosity at 25°C of 10 mPa s or less [ka] Formula (1) [In formula (1), R1, R2, and R3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and R4 represents an alkyl chain having 0 to 3 carbon atoms.] [2] The active energy ray-curable composition according to [1], wherein the component (B) has a vinyl ether group, an allyl ether group, or an isoprenyl group as the reactive site represented by formula (1). [3] The active energy ray-curable composition according to [1] or [2], further comprising 1% by mass to 25% by mass of the following component (C): Component (C): Monofunctional or bifunctional monomer with a viscosity of 10 mPa s or less at 25°C (excluding component (B)) [4] The active energy ray-curable composition according to any one of [1] to [3], wherein the viscosity of the component (A) at 25°C is 70 mPa s or less. [5] The active energy ray-curable composition according to any one of [1] to [4], which contains a photopolymerization initiator. [6] The active energy ray-curable composition according to any one of [1] to [5], further comprising a leveling agent. [7] A cured coating film which is a cured reaction product of the active energy ray-curable composition according to any one of [1] to [6]. [8] A laminate film comprising the cured coating film described in [7] and a substrate. Effect of the Invention
[0012] The active energy ray-curable composition of the present invention has a low viscosity (<20 mPa s) and therefore has excellent coatability regardless of the coating method, and can form a cured coating film that is excellent in hardness, adhesion, and curl resistance. Therefore, the composition can be suitably used as a protective coating agent for the surfaces of various substrates, and as an optical film for use in flat panel displays (FPDs) such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs), organic light-emitting diode displays (OLEDs), and plasma displays (PDPs). EXAMPLES
[0066] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples. In the compositions of the following examples, "%" means "% by mass" and "parts" means "parts by mass".
[0067] (Example 1: Preparation of active energy ray-curable composition (1)) An active energy ray curable composition (1) was prepared by uniformly mixing 80 parts of glycerin triacrylate ("Aronix M-930" manufactured by Toagosei Co., Ltd., hydroxyl value: 30 mg KOH, viscosity 30 mPa·s), 20 parts of 2-(2-vinyloxyethoxy)ethyl acrylate (VEEA (registered trademark) manufactured by Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd.), 0.1 parts of a leveling agent ("BYK-356" manufactured by BYK Japan Co., Ltd.), and 5 parts of a photopolymerization initiator ("Runtecure1104" manufactured by RUNTEC Chemical Co., Ltd.).
[0068] (Examples 2 to 11 and Comparative Examples 1 to 9: Preparation of active energy ray-curable compositions (2) to (11) and (R1) to (R9)) Except for changing the composition of each component as shown in Table 1 or 2, the same method as in Example 1 was used to obtain active energy ray-curable compositions (2) to (11) and (R1) to (R9).
[0069] The active energy ray-curable compositions obtained in the above Examples and Comparative Examples were subjected to the following measurements and evaluations.
[0070] [Viscosity measurement] The viscosity (mPa·s) at 25° C. of the active energy ray-curable composition obtained in each of the Examples and Comparative Examples was measured using an E-type viscometer (TV-25, manufactured by Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd.).
[0071] [Preparation of evaluation samples] The active energy ray-curable composition of each example was applied to a 40 μm-thick TAC substrate ("FTTD40UC" manufactured by Fuji Film Corporation) with a thickness of 40 μm using a bar coater, and then exposed to a light dose of 150 mJ / cm using an ultraviolet irradiation device (high-pressure mercury lamp manufactured by iGraphics Co., Ltd.) under a nitrogen atmosphere. 2 A TAC substrate having a cured coating film with a thickness of 5-6 μm was obtained, and this was used as an evaluation sample.
[0072] [Adhesion evaluation] The surface of the cured coating of the evaluation sample obtained above was scored with a cutter knife to create 100 1 mm x 1 mm grids. Cellophane tape (Cellotape (registered trademark) CT-18, manufactured by Nichiban Co., Ltd.) was then applied on top of the grids and quickly peeled off. The number of grids that remained unpeeled was counted and evaluated according to the following criteria, with A being a pass and B to D being failing. A: There were 100 remaining squares. B: The number of remaining grids was 95 or more but less than 100. C: The number of remaining grids was 10 or more but less than 95. D: Fewer than 10 grids remained.
[0073] [Hardness rating; pencil hardness] The hardness of the cured coating film surface of the curable resin composition obtained above was measured under a load of 500 g according to JIS K5600-5-4 [Scratch hardness (pencil method)]. Five measurements were made for each hardness, and the hardness at which no scratches were observed four or more times was regarded as the hardness of the cured coating film. The hardness of pencils, from highest to lowest, is 3H, 2H, H, F, HB, and B.
[0074] [Scratch resistance evaluation: Steel wool (SW) test] The contact area of the evaluation sample obtained above is 4 cm 2 A #0000 steel wool was attached to a loading plate (2cm x 2cm square) and a weight of 1000g was placed on it, which was then moved back and forth over the test piece 10 times. The surface was then visually observed for scratches.
[0075] [Evaluation of bending resistance; mandrel test] The evaluation sample obtained above was wrapped around a 10 mm diameter mandrel test rod with the coated surface facing outward, and the occurrence of breaks or cracks in the cured coating was confirmed. The diameter of the mandrel was changed to smaller and smaller ones until breaks or cracks occurred in the cured coating, and the smallest mandrel value at which breaks or cracks did not occur was evaluated.
[0076] The above evaluation results are shown in Tables 1 and 2. The viscosity (mPa·s) of each component is listed for reference.
