Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to pneumatic tires. [Background technology]
[0002] Marks such as letters and symbols representing manufacturer names, product names, brand names, etc. are displayed on the sidewall of a pneumatic tire. From the viewpoint of increasing the visibility of the marks, it is known to form the marks by raised marks using white rubber (an example of a different color rubber) that is a different color from the sidewall rubber, and this is described, for example, in Patent Document 1. When marks formed by such raised marks are provided in a pair with different lengths in the tire circumferential direction, the difference in volume between them is likely to cause deterioration of tire uniformity, particularly RFV (radial force variation). [0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2012-131283 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] The present disclosure has been made in consideration of the above-mentioned circumstances, and has an object to provide a pneumatic tire that can suppress deterioration of RFV caused by raised marks. [Means for solving the problem]
[0005] The pneumatic tire disclosed herein comprises a pair of sidewall portions on which sidewall rubber is arranged, and at least one of the pair of sidewall portions has a first marking portion and a second marking portion having a longer circumferential length in the tire direction than the first marking portion, and each of the first and second marking portions is provided with a raised mark that protrudes outward in the tire axial direction and exposes a different-colored rubber that is different in color from the sidewall rubber, and the raised mark provided on the first marking portion is formed only by a first raised mark in which the different-colored rubber is exposed in a solid state, and the raised mark provided on the second marking portion is formed including a second raised mark in which the different-colored rubber is exposed in a border-like manner. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0007] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0008] 1 is a half cross-sectional view showing a pneumatic tire T of this embodiment, and shows a tire meridian section of half of the tire (a section cut along a plane including the central axis of the tire T). The tire T has a pair of sidewall portions 2 on which sidewall rubber 9 is arranged. The tire T is an automobile tire having a pair of bead portions 1, a sidewall portion 2 extending radially outward from each of the bead portions 1, and a tread portion 3 continuing to radially outer ends of each of the sidewall portions 2.
[0009] Here, the tire radial direction is the direction along the diameter of the tire T, and corresponds to the up-down direction in FIG. 1. In the range shown in FIG. 1, the upper side is the outer side in the tire radial direction, and the lower side is the inner side in the tire radial direction. The tire axial direction is a direction parallel to the central axis (rotation axis) of the tire T, and corresponds to the left-right direction in FIG. 1. The side closer to the tire equator TC is the inner side in the tire axial direction, and the side away from the tire equator TC is the outer side in the tire axial direction. The tire equator TC is a virtual line located at the center of the tire T in the axial direction, and perpendicular to the central axis of the tire T in a plan view of the tread. The tire circumferential direction is a direction around the central axis of the tire T.
[0010] An annular bead core 1a is embedded in the bead portion 1. The bead core 1a is formed by rubber-coating a bundle of steel wires or the like. A bead filler 1b is disposed on the tire radially outer side of the bead core 1a. The bead filler 1b is formed of rubber with a triangular cross section that extends from the bead core 1a radially outward in the tire. An annular rim protector 81 is formed on the tire axially outer side of the bead filler 1b. The rim protector 81 protrudes axially outward in order to protect the rim flange when the tire is mounted on a wheel (not shown).
[0011] The tire T includes a carcass 4 extending in a toroidal shape across a pair of bead portions 1. The carcass 4 is wound up from the inside to the outside in the tire axial direction so as to sandwich the bead cores 1a and the bead fillers 1b. The carcass 4 is formed of a carcass ply formed by rubber-coating carcass cords. The carcass cords are aligned in a direction intersecting the tire circumferential direction (for example, in a direction at an angle of 75 to 90 degrees with respect to the tire circumferential direction). Organic fibers such as polyester, rayon, nylon, and aramid are preferably used as the material for the carcass cords.
[0012] The tire T includes a belt 5 laminated on the outer side of the carcass 4 in the tire radial direction. The belt 5 is formed of a plurality of (two in this embodiment) belt plies 5a, 5b laminated on each other. The belt plies 5a, 5b are each formed by rubber-coating belt cords. The belt cords are aligned in a direction inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction (for example, in a direction at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees with respect to the tire circumferential direction). Metal such as steel is preferably used as the material for the belt cords. The belt plies 5a, 5b are laminated such that the belt cords cross each other in opposite directions between them.
[0013] The tire T includes a belt reinforcement 6 laminated on the outer side of the belt 5 in the tire radial direction. The belt reinforcement 6 is formed of a belt reinforcement ply formed by rubber-coating belt reinforcement cords. The belt reinforcement cords are aligned substantially parallel to the tire circumferential direction. The belt reinforcement ply is formed, for example, by spirally winding one or more rubber-coated belt reinforcement cords along the tire circumferential direction. The above-mentioned organic fiber is preferably used as the material for the belt reinforcement cord.
[0014] An inner liner rubber 7 that holds the internal pressure of the tire T is provided on the inner surface of the tire. The inner liner rubber 7 is made of rubber with excellent air shielding properties, such as butyl rubber. A rim strip rubber 8 is disposed on the axially outer side of the carcass 4 in the bead portion 1. A tread rubber 10 that forms a tread surface is provided on the outer surface of the tread portion 3. In this embodiment, a TOS structure is adopted in which the tread rubber 10 is layered on the outer side of the sidewall rubber 9. Although not shown in the figure, a tread pattern is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the tread rubber 10 according to the required tire performance and usage conditions.
[0015] A sidewall rubber 9 and a white rubber 11 are provided on the axially outer side of the carcass 4 in the sidewall portion 2. A black rubber composition (black rubber) containing carbon black as a reinforcing filler is used for the sidewall rubber 9. A white rubber composition containing a filler other than carbon black (non-carbon black filler) such as silica, talc, or clay as a reinforcing filler is used for the white rubber 11. The white rubber 11 corresponds to a different color rubber having a different color from the sidewall rubber 9. The different color rubber is typically white, but may be a rubber showing a hue other than white.
[0016] In this embodiment, an example is shown in which blocks 12 are provided in the buttress region. A plurality of blocks 12 are arranged at intervals in the tire circumferential direction. The buttress region is a region on the outer side in the tire radial direction of the sidewall portion 2, more specifically, a region on the outer side in the tire radial direction of the tire than the tire maximum width position 2M, and is a portion that does not come into contact with the ground during normal running on flat paved roads. The tire maximum width position 2M is the position where the profile line PL of the sidewall portion 2 is farthest from the tire equator line TC in the tire axial direction. The profile line PL is the basic contour of the sidewall portion 2 excluding protrusions such as the rim protector 81 and the blocks 12.
[0017] FIG. 2 is a front view of the pneumatic tire T seen from the outside in the tire axial direction, but the block 12 is omitted. The sidewall portion 2 has a first marking portion 21 and a second marking portion 22 having a tire circumferential length greater than that of the first marking portion 21. The first and second marking portions 21, 22 are marked with marks such as letters and symbols representing information such as the manufacturer's name, product name, brand name, and tire size. The ratio of the tire circumferential length of the second marking portions 21, 22 to the tire circumferential length of the first marking portion 21 is, for example, 1.45 to 1.65. In FIG. 2, four imaginary lines VL are drawn extending in the tire radial direction through the tire circumferential ends of the first and second marking portions 21, 22, and the above ratio is determined based on these lines.
[0018] The first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22 are spaced apart in the tire circumferential direction and are provided at positions facing each other across the center axis CP of the tire T. The first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22 are provided at substantially the same tire radial position, and if a virtual line (not shown) is drawn extending in the tire circumferential direction across the first mark display portion 21 (its mark), the virtual line will also cross the second mark display portion 22 (its mark). Both the first and second mark display portions 21, 22 are located radially inward of the tire maximum width position 2M (see FIG. 1). Mark non-display portions 23, 24 where no mark is displayed are formed between the first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22. In this embodiment, the mark display portion and the mark non-surface portion are alternately arranged in a band-shaped region that is a certain region in the tire radial direction that does not include the tire maximum width position 2M.
[0019] The opening angles θ23, θ24 between the first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22 sandwiching the mark non-display portion 23, 24 are preferably 80 degrees or less, more preferably 70 degrees or less, thereby ensuring an appropriate tire circumferential length of the first and second mark display portions 21, 22. As a result, the work of arranging the joint portion of the sidewall rubber 9 at the first mark display portion 21 or the second mark display portion 22 during vulcanization molding is simplified, which is convenient for suppressing deterioration of appearance quality caused by local unevenness at the joint portion. The opening angles θ23, θ24 are, for example, 40 degrees or more. The opening angle θ21 of the first mark display portion 21 and the opening angle θ22 of the second mark display portion 22 are, for example, 50 degrees or more. The opening angles θ21 to θ24 are angles centered on the central axis CP of the tire T.
[0020] The first and second emblem display portions 21, 22 are provided with raised marks 30 that are raised toward the outside in the tire axial direction and expose the white rubber 11. In this embodiment, the raised marks 30 are provided as emblems consisting of the letters "T" and "O," but of course, the present invention is not limited to this. The white rubber 11 is vulcanized and molded while being covered with a thin cover rubber 90 (see FIG. 1), and the portion corresponding to the raised mark 30 is raised by a recess in a mold (not shown), and then the cover rubber 90 is polished and removed by buffing or the like to expose the white rubber 11 on the surface of the sidewall portion 2. The cover rubber 90 is formed of a black rubber composition (black rubber) that is more ozone-resistant, fatigue-resistant, and cut-resistant than the white rubber 11.
[0021] FIG. 3 shows a raised mark 30 provided on the first emblem display portion 21. The raised mark 30 is raised axially outward from the profile line PL. This raised mark 30 is formed by the first raised mark 31 in which the white rubber 11, which is a different color rubber, is exposed in a solid coating. The white rubber 11 is exposed over the entire outer surface of the first raised mark 31 (the area surrounded by the outline of the raised mark 30). Strictly speaking, the cover rubber 90 is exposed along the outline of the first raised mark 31, but the thickness is extremely small and can be substantially ignored. The raised mark 30 provided on the first emblem display portion 21 is formed only by such a first raised mark 31.
[0022] Fig. 4 shows the state immediately after vulcanization molding of the part shown in Fig. 3(C). The surface of the white rubber 11 is covered with a cover rubber 90. The mold used in vulcanization molding has a recess corresponding to the raised mark 30, and the white rubber 11 and the cover rubber 90 that flow into the recess protrude axially outward from the profile line PL. By performing grinding and removal along a grinding line GL spaced axially outward from the profile line PL, the state shown in Fig. 3(C) is achieved. From the viewpoint of improving the workability of the grinding and removal and the appearance of the raised mark 30, it is preferable that the grinding line GL be spaced axially outward from the profile line PL by 2.0 mm or more.
[0023] FIG. 5 shows a raised mark 30 provided on the second emblem display portion 22. The raised mark 30 is raised axially outward from the profile line PL. This raised mark 30 is formed by a second raised mark 32 in which a different color rubber, the white rubber 11, is exposed in a border shape. The white rubber 11 is exposed along the periphery of the outer surface of the second raised mark 32 (the area surrounded by the outline of the raised mark 30). Strictly speaking, the cover rubber 90 is exposed along the outline of the second raised mark 32, but the thickness is so small that it can be practically ignored. The raised mark 30 provided on the second emblem display portion 22 is formed to include such a second raised mark 32.
[0024] FIG. 6 shows the state immediately after vulcanization of the part shown in FIG. 5(C). As in the examples of FIGS. 3 and 4, the state shown in FIG. 5(C) is obtained by performing grinding and removing along the grinding line GL. However, in FIG. 4, the entire outer surface of the raised mark 30 (first raised mark 31) is raised beyond the grinding line GL, whereas in FIG. 6, only the border portion along the periphery of the outer surface of the raised mark 30 (second raised mark 32) is raised beyond the grinding line GL, and the portion surrounded by the border portion is located axially inward of the grinding line GL. For this reason, the second raised mark 32 tends to be smaller in volume than the first raised mark 31.
[0025] In this tire T, the raised mark 30 provided in the first marking portion 21, which has a relatively small circumferential length, is formed only by the first raised mark 31, and the raised mark 30 provided in the second marking portion 22, which has a relatively large circumferential length, is formed including the second raised mark 32. This reduces the volume difference between the first marking portion 21 and the second marking portion 22, and suppresses deterioration of RFV (radial force variation) caused by the raised mark 30. RFV is a type of tire uniformity, and is the amount of variation in radial force generated on the contact surface of the tread portion when the tire is rolled. At least one of the pair of sidewall portions 2 may have such first and second marking portions 21, 22.
[0026] In this embodiment, the raised mark 30 provided on the second emblem display section 22 is formed by a combination of the first and second raised marks 31, 32. Some of the multiple raised marks 30 provided on the second emblem display section 22 (specifically, three characters) are the first raised marks 31, and the remaining are the second raised marks 32. By mixing the first raised marks 31 and the second raised marks 32 in this way to add variety to the display of the emblem, it is possible to improve visibility. However, this is not limited to this, and the raised mark 30 provided on the second emblem display section 22 may be formed only by the second raised marks 32.
[0027] In the raised mark 30 provided in the second emblem display portion 22, the ratio (V32 / V31) of the volume V32 of the second raised mark 32 to the volume V31 of the first raised mark 31 is preferably 0.15 or more, more preferably 0.20 or more. By setting this ratio to 0.15 or more, the proportion of the second raised mark 32 in the second emblem display portion 22 can be secured, and the effect of suppressing deterioration of RFV can be appropriately achieved. In order to increase visibility by using the first raised mark 31 and the second raised mark 32 in combination, the above ratio may be 0.30 or less. The number of the second raised marks 32 included in the second emblem display portion 22 is preferably 2 or more, more preferably 3 or more.
[0028] The volume V31 is calculated by multiplying the area of the outer surface of each of the first raised marks 31 where the white rubber 11 (and the cover rubber 90) is exposed by the raised height H1 from the profile line PL. The volume V32 is calculated by adding together a value obtained by multiplying the area of the bordered portion of the outer surface of each of the second raised marks 32 where the white rubber 11 (and the cover rubber 90) is exposed by the raised height H2 from the profile line PL and a value obtained by multiplying the area of the portion surrounded by the bordered portion where the white rubber 11 is not exposed by the raised height H3 from the profile line PL. In order to reduce the volume V32 and suppress deterioration of the RFV, it is preferable that the raised height H3 is 30% or less of the raised height H2.
[0029] The raised heights H1 and H2 correspond to the distance between the profile line PL and the grinding line GL (see Figs. 4 and 6), and are therefore preferably 2.0 mm or more. Moreover, the raised height H1 is preferably substantially the same as the raised height H2. This reduces the variation in height of the outer surface of the raised mark 30, improving the appearance of the mark. In addition, the tire axial positions where grinding and removal such as buffing are performed can be set uniformly for the first raised mark 31 and the second raised mark 32, preventing deterioration of workability.
[0030] The width W (see FIG. 5) of the border portion of the outer surface of the second raised mark 32 where the white rubber 11 (and the cover rubber 90) is exposed is preferably 2.0 mm or more. This allows the white rubber 11 to smoothly flow into the mold recess corresponding to the border portion during vulcanization molding, which is convenient for properly exposing the white rubber 11. Also, the width W is preferably 4.0 mm or less. This prevents the border portion from becoming too thick, which is convenient for reducing the volume of the second raised mark 32 and suppressing deterioration of the RFV.
[0031] FIG. 7 shows the first raised mark 31 forming the letter "O". The basic structure is the same as the first raised mark 31 forming the letter "T" described above, so a duplicated description will be omitted. In this example, the bottom surface 30B of the inner region 30u surrounded by the inner circumference of the raised mark 30 is located outside the tire axial direction from the profile line PL of the sidewall portion 2. According to this configuration, compared to other configurations, the white rubber 11 is more likely to smoothly flow into the recess of the mold during vulcanization molding, which is convenient for properly forming the raised mark 30. FIG. 7 shows an example in which the first raised mark 31 has the inner region 30u, but the same applies to the case in which the second raised mark 32 has an inner region.
[0032] When both of the pair of sidewall portions 2 have the first and second marking portions 21, 22 as described above, it is preferable that the positions of the first marking portion 21 and the second marking portion 22 in the tire circumferential direction are in an inverted relationship between them. In other words, when the tire T is seen through in the tire axial direction, it is preferable that the first marking portion 21 of the front sidewall portion 2 overlaps with the second marking portion 22 of the rear sidewall portion 2, and the second marking portion 22 of the front sidewall portion 2 overlaps with the first marking portion 21 of the rear sidewall portion 2. Shifting the phase of the marking portions between the pair of sidewall portions 2 in this manner is advantageous in suppressing deterioration of RFV.
[0033] In each of the first and second emblem display portions 21, 22, the tire radial direction length of the raised mark 30 is uniform. In this embodiment, the tire radial direction length DL21 of the raised mark 30 provided in the first emblem display portion 21 is substantially the same as the tire radial direction length DL22 of the raised mark 30 provided in the second emblem display portion 22 (see FIG. 2). However, as shown in FIG. 8, the length DL22 may be smaller than the length DL21, and in that case, the length DL22 is, for example, 55 to 75% of the length DL1. With this configuration, the volume difference between the first and second emblem display portions 21, 22 is further reduced, which can contribute to suppressing deterioration of the RFV.
[0034] The rising corners 31c, 32c of the first and second raised marks 31, 32 are recessed corners between the outer surface of the sidewall portion 2 along the profile line PL and the side surface of the raised mark 30 rising therefrom (see Figs. 3 and 5). The rising corners 31c, 32c are each formed in an arc shape. This configuration improves the demoldability when removing the raised mark 30 from the recess of the mold after vulcanization molding. It is preferable that the curvature radius Rb of the rising corner 32c is smaller than the curvature radius Ra of the rising corner 31c, and in this case, the curvature radius Rb is, for example, 20 to 75% of the curvature radius Ra. This configuration further reduces the volume difference between the first and second marking display portions 21, 22, which can contribute to suppressing deterioration of the RFV.
[0035] [1] As described above, the pneumatic tire T of this embodiment includes a pair of sidewall portions 2 on which the sidewall rubber 9 is disposed, and at least one of the pair of sidewall portions 2 includes a first mark display portion 21 and a second mark display portion 22 having a tire circumferential length greater than that of the first mark display portion 21. The first and second mark display portions 21, 22 are each provided with a raised mark 30 that is raised toward the tire axially outer side and exposes a different-colored rubber (white rubber 11) that is different in color from the sidewall rubber 9. The raised mark 30 provided on the first mark display portion 21 is formed only by the first raised mark 31 in which the different-colored rubber is exposed in a solid coating form, and the raised mark 30 provided on the second mark display portion 22 is formed including the second raised mark 32 in which the different-colored rubber is exposed in a bordered form. With this configuration, the volume difference between the first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22 can be reduced to suppress deterioration of the RFV caused by the raised mark 30.
[0036] [2] In the pneumatic tire T described above in [1], the raised mark 30 provided on the second emblem display portion 22 may be formed by combining the first and second raised marks 31, 32. By mixing the first raised mark 31 and the second raised mark 32 to add variety to the display of the emblem, it is possible to improve visibility.
[0037] [3] In the pneumatic tire T of the above [1] or [2], the mark non-display portions 23, 24 are formed between the first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22, and it is preferable that the opening angles θ23, θ24 between the first mark display portion 21 and the second mark display portion 22 sandwiching the mark non-display portion 23, 24 are 40 to 80 degrees. The formation of such mark non-display portions 23, 24 is advantageous in suppressing deterioration of appearance quality caused by local unevenness due to joint portions of the sidewall rubber 9.
[0038] [4] In the pneumatic tire T of any one of the above [1] to [3], it is preferable that the bottom surface 30B of the inner region 30u surrounded by the inner circumference of the raised mark 30 is located axially outward of the profile line PL of the sidewall portion 2. According to this configuration, compared to other configurations, the white rubber 11 can more smoothly flow into the recessed portion of the mold during vulcanization molding, which is convenient for properly forming the raised mark 30.
[0039] [5] In the pneumatic tire T of any one of [1] to [4] above, the tire radial length DL2 of the raised mark 30 provided in the second marking portion 22 may be smaller than the tire radial length DL1 of the raised mark 30 provided in the first marking portion 21. With this configuration, the volume difference between the first and second marking portions 21, 22 can be further reduced, and deterioration of the RFV can be more effectively suppressed.
[0040] [6] In the pneumatic tire T of any one of the above [1] to [5], the rising corner portions 31c, 32c of the first and second raised marks 31, 32 may each be formed in an arc shape, and the radius of curvature Rb of the rising corner portion 32c of the second raised mark 32 may be smaller than the radius of curvature Ra of the rising corner portion 31c of the first raised mark 31. With this configuration, the volume difference between the first and second symbol display portions 21, 22 can be further reduced, and deterioration of the RFV can be more effectively suppressed.
[0041] Although the embodiment of the present disclosure has been described above, it should be understood that the specific configuration is not limited to this embodiment. The scope of the present disclosure is not only the description of the above embodiment, but also the scope of the claims, and further includes all modifications within the meaning and scope equivalent to the claims.
[0042] The pneumatic tire of the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various improvements and modifications are possible without departing from the spirit of the present disclosure. In addition, the configurations employed in the above-described embodiment can be employed in any combination. [Explanation of symbols]
