Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a sheet molding compound. [Background technology]

[0002] Sheet molding compounds are sheet-shaped molding materials obtained by impregnating a fiber base material such as glass fiber or organic fiber with a paste-like composition containing a thermosetting resin such as an unsaturated polyester resin and a vinyl monomer as a diluent. Molded products can be obtained by pressurizing and heating the sheet molding compounds. Sheet molding compounds are mainly used as molding materials for bathtubs, water tanks, septic tanks, etc., but are also used as materials for electrical parts such as plugs and lighting components for electrical appliances and breaker bases. Materials for electrical components need to have high flame retardancy from the viewpoint of fire safety, and therefore attempts have been made to obtain flame-retardant sheet molding compounds by adding flame retardants or the like. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses an unsaturated polyester resin composition that contains specific amounts of a resin component including an unsaturated polyester, a polymerizable monomer, and a shrinkage reducing agent which is polyvinyl acetate, as well as aluminum hydroxide and a flame retardant, for the purpose of improving flame retardancy in addition to low shrinkage and dimensional stability. [0003] [Patent Document 1] International Publication No. 2020 / 080412 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] When a fire breaks out and an electrical component comes into contact with the flame, there is a problem that the shape retention of the resin material used in the electrical component is reduced, which may expose the conductive parts, and there is a problem that the electrical insulation is reduced, which may cause an electric shock. The use of a resin material containing a flame retardant for an electrical component is also insufficient as a countermeasure against these problems. This is thought to be because, even in the case of a resin material containing a flame retardant, the flammable components become gas, making the molded product brittle and reducing the shape retention. In addition, when the material comes into contact with the flame, the surface layer is carbonized, which makes it easy to conduct electricity, and the electrical insulation is reduced. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a sheet molding compound which is excellent in flame retardancy and which can give a molded article which has excellent shape retention and electrical properties even after coming into contact with a flame and becoming hot. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] The present inventors have discovered that the above problems can be solved by using a specific thermosetting resin having a halogen atom and a silicon-based filler in a sheet molding compound. That is, the present invention relates to the following. [2] The sheet molding compound according to the above item [1], wherein the total content of the unsaturated polyester resin having a halogen atom, the vinyl ester resin having a halogen atom, and the urethane acrylate resin having a halogen atom relative to the total amount of the thermosetting resin is 50 to 100 mass %, and the mass ratio of the sum of the thermosetting resin and the polymerizable monomer to the low shrinkage agent [thermosetting resin and polymerizable monomer / low shrinkage agent] is 60 / 40 to 90 / 10. [3] The sheet molding compound according to the above [1] or [2], wherein the content of the silicon-based filler is 5 to 50 parts by mass when the total content of the thermosetting resin, the polymerizable monomer, and the low shrinkage agent is 100 parts by mass. [4] The sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [3], wherein the content of the silicon-based filler is 15 to 40 parts by mass when the total content of the thermosetting resin, the polymerizable monomer, and the low shrinkage agent is 100 parts by mass. [5] The sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [4], wherein the silicon-based filler contains at least one selected from the group consisting of glass micro hollow sphere filler, silica micro hollow sphere filler, silica sand, diatomaceous earth, crystalline silica, amorphous silica, mica, and short glass fiber. [6] The sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [5], wherein the halogen atom is chlorine or bromine. [7] The sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [6], wherein the reinforcing fiber base material is made of glass fiber. [8] The sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [7], wherein the polymerizable monomer contains a styrene-based monomer. [9] A molded article for electrical parts obtained by molding the sheet molding compound according to any one of the above [1] to [8]. Effect of the Invention

[0006] According to the present invention, there is provided a sheet molding compound capable of obtaining a molded product having excellent flame retardancy, shape retention and electrical properties even after contact with a flame and reaching a high temperature. Therefore, the sheet molding compound is useful as a molding material for electrical parts. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0043] <Method of manufacturing sheet molding compound and molded products for electrical parts> As described above, the sheet molding compound of the present invention is produced by impregnating a reinforcing fiber substrate with a resin composition containing a thermosetting resin, a polymerizable monomer, a low shrinkage agent, a curing agent, a polymerization inhibitor, and a filler. There are no particular limitations on the method for producing the compound, but it is preferable to produce the compound by the method described below. The resin composition is impregnated into a reinforcing fiber substrate to obtain a sheet-like compound, and both sides of the sheet are covered with films to improve handling. Specifically, the resin composition is applied to two films, a reinforcing fiber substrate is sprinkled on the resin composition, the resin composition sides of the two films are bonded together, and the laminated films are pressed from both sides to impregnate the reinforcing fiber substrate with the resin composition. After that, the laminated sheets are aged to obtain a laminated sheet-like product with the semi-solid compound as the intermediate substrate. During molding, the sheet-like material is cut, charged into a mold, pressurized and heated, and cured to obtain a molded product. Since the sheet molding compound of the present invention has the above-mentioned constitution, it is possible to obtain a molded article which has excellent flame retardancy, shape retention and electrical properties even after contact with flame and exposure to high temperatures.

[0044] The molded article for electrical parts of the present invention can be obtained by molding the above-mentioned sheet molding compound. The molded article for electrical parts of the present invention can be obtained by cutting the sheet molding compound, charging it into a mold, and curing it under pressure and heat. The molded article for electrical parts of the present invention has excellent flame retardancy, and is excellent in shape retention and electrical properties even after coming into contact with flame and becoming hot. EXAMPLES

[0045] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to examples and comparative examples, but the present invention is not limited to the following examples. Measurements and evaluations in the examples were performed as follows. Table 1 shows the types of raw materials, the amounts of raw materials, the results of measurements, and the results of evaluations. The figures for the amounts of raw materials are in "parts by mass." Table 1 is divided into Table 1(1) and Table 1(2).

[0046] <Production of molded products> The sheet molding compounds obtained in the Examples and Comparative Examples were molded under the following conditions to obtain molded articles to be used in the following evaluations. The sheet molding compound was heated and compressed in a 300mm x 300mm flat mold. The molding conditions were a mold temperature of 140°C on both the front and back of the plate, a molding pressure of 8MPa, and a retention time in the mold of 300 seconds. The molded product was then removed from the mold and immediately cooled between iron plates to obtain a 2mm thick flat molded product.

[0047] <Flame retardancy evaluation (UL94 vertical flame test)> Flame retardancy tests were conducted and evaluated according to the UL94 vertical flame test method. The thickness of the test piece was 2 mm. The results were evaluated according to the following criteria. Among those that conform to the UL94 standard, V-0 is the best, followed by V-1 and V-2. (Evaluation Criteria) ◎:V-0 ○:V-1 △:V-2 ×: Not compliant with UL94 standards

[0048] <Evaluation of electrical characteristics (tracking resistance test)> The molded product (plate) cut into a 10 cm square was clamped and fixed with two clamps. Next, a 500 W gas burner was applied from below the plate and heated for 10 minutes. At this time, the distance from the gas burner nozzle to the plate was 90 mm. After 10 minutes, the gas burner was turned off and the plate was cooled. The flat plate heat-treated as described above was evaluated for tracking resistance according to JIS-C-2134. The larger the tracking index (TI), the better the electrical insulation and electrical properties. In this embodiment, a plate with a tracking index (TI) of more than 400V has excellent electrical insulation and good electrical properties.

[0049] <Evaluation of shape retention (hardness test)> The molded product (plate) cut into a 10 cm square was clamped and fixed with two clamps. Next, a 500 W gas burner was applied from below the plate and heated for 10 minutes. At this time, the distance from the gas burner nozzle to the plate was 80 mm. After 10 minutes, the gas burner was turned off and the plate was cooled. The hardness of the molded product after heat treatment was measured by pressing a Shore A hardness tester against the center of the heat-treated flat plate. A high hardness value indicates good shape retention.
