Abstract

To appropriately manage the distance from an ultrasonic transmission surface to a protective member in order to prevent multiple reflections of an ultrasonic wave.SOLUTION: A medium conveyance device includes a first roller pair and an ultrasonic detection part located on a downstream side of the first roller pair, the ultrasonic detection part includes: a transmitting sensor chip that emits an ultrasonic wave along a first axis; a receiving sensor chip which is disposed on a position of a first axis and receives the ultrasonic wave; a transmitting substrate on which the transmitting sensor chip is provided; a receiving substrate on which the receiving sensor chip is provided; a first protection member located between the transmitting sensor chip and a medium; a second protection member located between the receiving sensor chip and the medium; a transmitting substrate holding member that holds the transmitting substrate and the first protection member; and a receiving substrate holding member that holds the receiving substrate and the second protection member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 24
