DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0015] Hereinafter, a laminated container according to an embodiment of the present invention and a method for manufacturing a laminated container according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, in the following description, in order to simplify the description, the meanings of terms are defined as follows.

[0016] "Axial direction" refers to the direction in which the axis of the container extends. Additionally, "upper axial direction" refers to the side where the mouth of the container is located, and "lower axial direction" refers to the side where the bottom of the container is located.

[0017] Next, the "direction perpendicular to the axis" (also referred to as the "radial direction") refers to the direction perpendicular to the axial direction. Furthermore, the "inner side in the direction perpendicular to the axis" (also referred to as the "radial inner side") refers to the side closer to the axis of the container, and the "outer side in the direction perpendicular to the axis" (also referred to as the "radial outer side") refers to the side farther from the axis of the container.

[0018] Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view that shows a schematic diagram of a laminated container 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The symbol O indicates the axis of the laminated container. The laminated container 1 extends in the axial direction. In Fig. 1, the laminated container 1 is shown in a cross section including the axis O.

[0019] The laminated container 1 comprises an outer layer (2), an inner layer (3), and a vapor deposition layer 4 disposed between the outer layer (2) and the inner layer (3).

[0020] In this embodiment, the stacked container 1 is a bottle container extending in the axial direction. In this embodiment, the stacked container 1 has a bottle shape with a circular (annular) cross section extending in the axial direction. The stacked container 1 includes, along the axial direction, a mouth portion 1a, a neck ring 1b connected to the mouth portion 1a, a shoulder portion 1c connected to the neck ring 1b, a body portion 1d connected to the shoulder portion 1c, and a bottom portion 1e connected to the body portion 1d. In this embodiment, the lower end of the body portion 1d is closed by the bottom portion 1e. Inside the stacked container 1, a storage space S3 for storing contents is formed. The storage space S3 is connected to the outside world through an opening A1 formed at the upper end of the mouth portion 1a.

[0021] In this embodiment, the outer layer is formed by the outer container 2. The outer container 2 is a bottle container extending in the axial direction. In this embodiment, the outer container 2 has a bottle shape with a circular (annular) cross section extending in the axial direction. The outer container 2 includes a mouth 2a, a neck ring 2b connected to the mouth 2a, a shoulder 2c connected to the neck ring 2b, a body 2d connected to the shoulder 2c, and a bottom 2e connected to the body 2d along the axial direction. In this embodiment, the lower end of the body 2d is closed by the bottom 2e. Inside the outer container 2, a storage space S2 for storing the inner container 3 is formed. The storage space S2 is connected to the outside world through an opening A2 (see FIG. 3) formed at the upper end of the mouth 3a.

[0022] In this embodiment, the outer container 2 is a blow molded product. The outer container 2 can be formed, for example, from a synthetic resin material mainly composed of polyester. Here, the synthetic resin material mainly composed of polyester refers to a synthetic resin material forming the outer container 2 in which more than 50% by weight is polyester. Examples of the synthetic resin material include polyethylene terephthalate (hereinafter also referred to as "PET"), polyethylene naphthalate (hereinafter also referred to as "PEN"), and biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid. Note that polylactic acid (Poly-Lactic Acid) is also referred to as "PLA". However, the outer container 2 may contain material components other than the above synthetic resins, for example, a barrier resin (such as MX nylon or ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer resin (EVOH)) may be mixed, or the barrier resin may be multi-layered (such as an inner layer (PET) / middle layer (MX nylon) / outer layer (PET)). The material of the outer container 2 is not limited to a synthetic resin material mainly composed of polyester. Examples of the synthetic resin material include polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). The outer container 2 can also be made of the same synthetic resin as the inner container 3. In this embodiment, the inner container is made of polypropylene.

[0023] In this embodiment, the deposition layer 4 is provided on the inner surface of the outer container 2 .

[0024] In this embodiment, the deposition layer 4 is a diamond-like carbon deposition layer (hereinafter, diamond-like carbon is also referred to as "DLC"). The DLC deposition layer has a barrier property that suppresses the permeability of gases such as oxygen. The deposition layer 4 can also be a barrier layer other than a DLC deposition layer, so long as it has a barrier property such as an oxygen barrier property. Such a deposition layer can be, for example, a silica deposition layer or an aluminum deposition layer.

[0025] Examples of the deposition method for the deposition layer 4 such as the DLC deposition layer include chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD). Examples of chemical vapor deposition include plasma CVD and thermal CVD. Examples of the power source used in plasma CVD include high frequency and microwave.

[0026] The DLC deposition layer is a non-crystalline (amorphous) hard film made of a hydrocarbon or carbon allotrope. The DLC deposition layer can be formed by plasma CVD using, for example, acetylene (C2H2) as a source gas.

[0027] In this embodiment, the inner layer of the laminated container 1 is formed by the inner container 3 arranged inside the outer container 2. The inner container 3 is a bottle container extending in the axial direction. In this embodiment, the inner container 3 has a bottle shape with a circular (annular) cross section extending in the axial direction. The inner container 3 includes a mouth portion 3a, a shoulder portion 3c connected to the mouth portion 3a, a body portion 3d connected to the shoulder portion 3c, and a bottom portion 3e connected to the body portion 3d along the axial direction. In this embodiment, the lower end of the body portion 3d is closed by the bottom portion 3e. A storage space S3 for storing contents is formed inside the inner container 3. The storage space S3 is connected to the outside world through an opening portion A1 formed at the upper end of the mouth portion 3a.

[0028] In addition, in this embodiment, the inner container 3 includes a flange 3f that contacts the upper end of the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2. In this embodiment, the flange 3f is an annular flange that extends annularly in the circumferential direction around the axis O. In this embodiment, the flange 3f protrudes radially outward from the upper end of the mouth portion 3a of the inner container 3. In this embodiment, the axial lower end of the flange 3f contacts the upper end of the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2.

[0029] In this embodiment, a clearance C that communicates with the inside of the outer container 2 is formed between the mouth 2a of the outer container 2 and the mouth 3a of the inner container 3. In this embodiment, the clearance C is a cylindrical gap that extends in a cylindrical shape in the circumferential direction around the axis O. In this embodiment, the clearance C extends in the axial direction from the mouth 1a of the stacked container 1 to the shoulder 1c. The clearance C can be eliminated by pushing the inner container 3 downward in the axial direction when sealing the mouth 3a of the inner container 3 with a cap or the like after filling the storage space S3 of the inner container 3 with the contents, thereby sealing the gap between the mouth 2a of the outer container 2 and the mouth 3a of the inner container 3. In this case, by eliminating the clearance C, it is possible to prevent gas from entering through the clearance C.

[0030] In this embodiment, the inner container 3 is a blow molded product. The inner container 3 can be formed, for example, from a synthetic resin material mainly composed of an olefin-based synthetic resin. Here, the synthetic resin material mainly composed of an olefin-based synthetic resin refers to a synthetic resin material that is composed of more than 50% by weight of an olefin-based synthetic resin. The olefin-based synthetic resin has excellent moisture barrier properties, chemical resistance, and liquid repellency. Examples of the synthetic resin material include polyethylene, polypropylene, and blends thereof. However, the inner container 3 may contain material components other than the above synthetic resins, and for example, the barrier resin may be multi-layered (inner layer (PP) / middle layer (EVOH) / outer layer (PP), etc.). In this embodiment, the inner container 3 is made of polypropylene. Furthermore, the material of the inner container 3 is not limited to a synthetic resin material mainly composed of an olefin-based synthetic resin. In addition, the inner container 3 can be formed from the same synthetic resin as the outer container 2.

[0031] In the conventional laminated container, a vapor deposition layer is formed directly on the inner surface of the container body. In this case, the vapor deposition layer comes into direct contact with the contents filled in the storage space formed inside the container body. Therefore, the conventional laminated container has room for improvement in at least the following two points, for example.

[0032] (1) The barrier properties of the vapor-deposited layer may be reduced due to, for example, the chemical resistance of the contents. For example, when the vapor-deposited layer is a DLC vapor-deposited layer or a silica vapor-deposited layer, the resistance of the vapor-deposited layer to alkaline contents is low, and therefore, when such a vapor-deposited layer is used for alkaline contents, the barrier properties of the vapor-deposited layer may be reduced over time.

[0033] (2) The barrier properties of the vapor-deposited layer may be reduced, for example, by physical contact with the contents. For example, if the contents contain solid matter, the solid matter may come into contact with the vapor-deposited layer, thereby reducing the barrier properties of the vapor-deposited layer.

[0034] In contrast, in the laminated container 1 according to this embodiment, the vapor deposition layer 4 is disposed between the outer layer (2) and the inner layer (3). That is, the inner layer (3) is present between the storage space S3 filled with the contents and the vapor deposition layer 4. Therefore, in the laminated container 1, the vapor deposition layer 4 does not come into direct contact with the contents. Therefore, in the laminated container 1, the degradation of the barrier property of the vapor deposition layer 4 is suppressed.

[0035] A specific example is a case where the contents contain a large amount of volatile components (e.g., a reagent). For example, when ammonia water is contained in a polyethylene (PE) container, the ammonia contained in the ammonia water is dissipated to the outside through the polyethylene container. Therefore, when ammonia water is contained in a polyethylene container, an odor can be sensed around the polyethylene container.

[0036] In contrast, if the deposition layer 4 of the laminated container 1 is a DLC deposition layer, the deposition layer 4 prevents the release of ammonia gas vaporized from ammonia water from the laminated container 1. Moreover, in the laminated container 1, the deposition layer 4 is disposed outside the inner container 3 (inner layer), and therefore does not come into direct contact with alkaline ammonia water. Therefore, the laminated container 1 allows the storage of ammonia water as the contents while maintaining the gas barrier properties of the deposition layer 4. That is, the laminated container 1 includes the deposition layer 4, which leads to the protection (quality preservation) of the contents. As a specific container configuration, it is preferable to use a cyclic olefin polymer (COP) for the outer container 2, DLC for the deposition layer 4, and polypropylene for the inner container 3.

[0037] The laminated container 1 according to this embodiment has a multi-layer structure in which an inner container 3, which is filled with contents, is disposed inside an outer container 2 provided with a vapor deposition layer 4. In this case, the laminated container 1 can be easily manufactured by simply blow molding the inner container 3 inside the outer container 2 provided with the vapor deposition layer 4, as described below.

[0038] Additionally, in the stacked container 1 according to this embodiment, a clearance C communicating with the inside of the outer container 2 is formed between the mouth 2a of the outer container 2 and the mouth 3a of the inner container 3. In this case, as described above, when the stacked container 1 is manufactured by blow molding the inner container 3, air that has accumulated in the storage space S2 of the outer container 2 can be discharged to the outside through the clearance C.

[0039] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the inner container 3 is provided with a flange 3f that comes into contact with the upper end of the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2. In this case, as will be described later, the inner container 3 can be easily blow molded by using a preform that has the flange 3f.

[0040] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the inner container 3 is a blow molded product. In this case, as described above, the inner container 3 can be easily manufactured.

[0041] Next, a method for producing a laminated container according to one embodiment of the present invention (hereinafter, also referred to as "this production method") will be described taking the production of the laminated container 1 in FIG. 1 as an example.

[0042] The method for producing a laminated container according to this embodiment is a method for producing a laminated container for obtaining a laminated container 1 having a vapor deposition layer 4 disposed between an outer layer (2) and an inner layer (3). In this production method, an outer container 2 having a vapor deposition layer 4 provided on its inner surface and a preform 30 that can be inserted into a mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2 while ensuring a clearance C between the outer container 2 and the preform 30, the preform 30 is inserted into the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2, and then a fluid is fed into the preform 30 to form an inner container 3 inside the outer container 2.

[0043] Furthermore, in this manufacturing method, the preform 30 is suspended by a hanging jig on which a flange 3f provided on the preform 30 can be placed, the preform 30 is inserted into the mouth 2a of the outer container 2, and an inner container 3 is formed inside the outer container 2 by pumping a fluid into the inside of the preform 30.Then, the hanging jig is removed from the flange 3f, and the inner container 3 is pushed into the outer container 2 so that the flange 3f contacts the upper end of the mouth 2a of the outer container 2.

[0044] Specifically, the present manufacturing method includes a preparation step of preparing an outer container and a preform.

[0045] Here, Fig. 2 is a side view that generally shows the outer container 2, which is one of the components of the stacked container 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view that generally shows the outer container 2. In Fig. 3, the outer container 2 is shown in a cross section that includes the axis O. In the following description, the same reference numerals are used to refer to the same parts as those described above.

[0046] As shown in FIG. 2, in this embodiment, the outer container 2 is a bottle container as described above. In this embodiment, the outer container 2 is a blow-molded product as described above. In this embodiment, the outer container 2 is formed of a synthetic resin containing PET as a main component. In addition, as shown in FIG. 3, a vapor deposition layer 4 is formed on the inner surface of the outer container 2. In this embodiment, the vapor deposition layer 4 is a DLC vapor deposition layer.

[0047] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the outer container 2 does not have any air passage that connects the storage space S2 to the outside, other than the opening A2 of the mouth portion 2a. If there is an air passage (e.g., a through hole) that connects the storage space S2 to the outside, other than the opening A2 of the outer container 2, there is a risk that the barrier property of the deposition layer 4 will not be fully exhibited. For this reason, in this embodiment, the outer container 2 does not have any air passage that connects the storage space S2 to the outside, other than the opening A2 of the mouth portion 2a.

[0048] FIG. 4 is a side view that diagrammatically shows an example of a preform for forming the inner container 3, which is one of the constituent elements of the laminated container 1. As shown in FIG.

[0049] Here, the "preform" refers to a bottomed cylindrical member made of synthetic resin, in which one axial end of the cylindrical portion is closed. The preform 30 in FIG. 4 is a member made of synthetic resin, and includes a cylindrical portion 31 extending in the axial direction and a bottom portion 32 that closes one axial end (lower axial end) of the cylindrical portion 31. In this embodiment, the preform 30 further includes a flange 3f. In this embodiment, the flange 3f protrudes radially outward from the other axial end (upper axial end) of the cylindrical portion 31. In this embodiment, the preform 30 is formed by injection molding using a synthetic resin mainly composed of PP.

[0050] In this manufacturing method, in the preparation step, the outer container 2 and the preform 30 are prepared.

[0051] The manufacturing method also includes an outer container setting step of setting the outer container inside the mold. In this embodiment, the outer container setting step is performed subsequent to the preparation step.

[0052] FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view that illustrates an example of an outer container setting step for setting the outer container 2 in the mold 11. As shown in FIG.

[0053] As shown in Fig. 5, the mold 11 used in this manufacturing method includes two split dies 11a and 11b. The mold 11 forms a cavity 11c for accommodating the outer container 2 at a mating surface F11 where the two split dies 11a and 11b are joined. In the outer container setting step of this manufacturing method, the outer container 2 provided with the deposition layer 4 can be set in the mold 11 by using the two split dies 11a and 11b. Note that the mold 11 in Fig. 5 has a simplified structure for ease of explanation.

[0054] The present manufacturing method also includes a preform setting step of setting a preform inside the outer container. In this embodiment, the preform setting step is performed subsequent to the outer container setting step.

[0055] FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view that illustrates an example of a preform setting step of setting a preform 30 in the outer container 2, which is subsequent to the outer container setting step.

[0056] As shown in FIG. 6, in the preform setting step of the present manufacturing method, the heated preform 30 is inserted into the mouth 2a of the outer container 2 set in the mold 11, thereby exposing the preform 30 inside the outer container 2. In the present manufacturing method, the preform 30 is suspended and held by a hanger (hanging jig) 12. The hanger 12 can suspend and hold the preform 30 by being inserted into the lower end of the flange 3f of the preform 30. Specifically, after the preform 30 is suspended from the hanger 12, the hanger 12 is used to insert the preform 30 into the mouth 2a of the outer container 2 set in the mold 11. At this time, the insertion of the preform 30 is restricted by the hanger 12 being placed on the upper end of the mouth 2a of the outer container 2. As a result, in the preform setting step according to the present manufacturing method, the preform 30 can be inserted into the accommodation space S2 until the bottom 32 of the preform 30 reaches a predetermined position in the accommodation space S2 of the outer container 2. In addition, in FIG. 6, reference numeral 13 denotes a nozzle that closes the opening A1 of the preform 30.

[0057] The method also includes a blow molding step of forming an inner container inside an outer container by injecting a fluid into the inside of a preform. In this embodiment, the blow molding step is performed subsequent to the preform setting step.

[0058] FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view that shows a schematic example of a blow molding step in which a blow nozzle 14 is set on a preform 30 and an inner container 3 is blow molded, following the preform setting step.

[0059] As shown in FIG. 7, in the blow molding step according to the present manufacturing method, compressed gas G is supplied to the inside of the preform 30 through the blow nozzle 14. For example, air or an inert gas compressed by a compressor can be used as the compressed gas G. The preform 30 expands and stretches along the inner surface (deposition layer 4) of the outer container 2 due to the pressure of the compressed gas G. This allows the inner container 3 to be formed inside the outer container 2. In this manufacturing method, a clearance C that communicates with the storage space S2 of the outer container 2 is formed between the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2 and the preform 30. The clearance C allows the air accumulated in the storage space S2 of the outer container 2 to be discharged to the outside through the opening A2 when the preform 30 expands and stretches toward the outer container 2. This allows the inner container 3 to be formed.

[0060] The manufacturing method also includes a pushing step of pushing the inner container 3 into the outer container so that the flange of the inner container 3 comes into contact with the upper end of the mouth of the outer container. In this embodiment, the pushing step is performed subsequent to the blow molding step.

[0061] FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view that shows a schematic example of a pushing step in which, subsequent to the blow molding step, the blow nozzle is removed from the inner container and the inner container is then pushed into the outer container.

[0062] As shown in FIG. 8, after the inner container 3 is formed inside the outer container 2, the blow nozzle 13 is removed from the inner container 3, the hanger 12 is removed from the flange 3f, and the mold 11 is removed. When the hanger 12 is removed, a gap ΔD is formed between the upper end of the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2 and the lower end of the flange 3f of the inner container 3. In the pushing step according to this manufacturing method, the upper end of the inner container 3 (the upper end of the flange 3f) is pushed downward in the axial direction. This makes it possible to seal the gap between the outer container 2 and the inner container 3. As a result, a stacked container 1 is formed in which the gap between the outer container 2 and the inner container 3 is sealed, as shown in FIG. 1.

[0063] According to this manufacturing method, by blow molding an inner container 3 inside an outer container 2 having a vapor deposition layer 4 provided on its inner surface, a laminated container 1 in which a vapor deposition layer 4 is disposed between the outer layer and the inner layer, i.e., a laminated container 1 in which deterioration of barrier properties is suppressed, can be easily obtained.

[0064] Furthermore, according to this manufacturing method, the preform 30 is hung from the hanger 12 and then inserted into the mouth portion 2a of the outer container 2. This makes it easier to handle the heated preform 30, which makes it easier to manufacture the laminated container 1. Furthermore, according to this manufacturing method, after removing the hanger 12, the inner container 3 is pushed into the outer container 2, thereby obtaining the laminated container 1 in which the outer container 2 and the inner container 3 are sealed from each other.

[0065] The above is an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment, and can be modified in various ways within the scope of the claims. For example, the synthetic resin used for the inner layer (inner container 3) of the laminated container 1 can be selected in various ways depending on the application. For example, the synthetic resin used for the inner layer (inner container 3) can be a synthetic resin having different characteristics (e.g., moisture barrier property, chemical resistance, liquid repellency, etc.) from the synthetic resin used for the outer layer (outer container 2). In addition, by appropriately combining the synthetic resin used for the outer layer (outer container 2) and the synthetic resin used for the inner layer (inner container 3), it is possible to easily utilize the advantages of each. In addition, at least one new layer can be further provided between the outer layer and the deposition layer, or between the inner layer and the deposition layer. EXAMPLES

[0066] The following shows the measurement results of oxygen transmission rate (OTR) for Example 1 according to the present invention and a Comparative Example for comparison with Example 1. Here, Example 1 is a laminated container in which an inner container is disposed on an outer container provided with a deposition layer. In Example 1, the outer container is a PET container with a DLC deposition layer as the deposition layer, and the inner container is a polypropylene (PP) container. On the other hand, the Comparative Example is a laminated container in which no deposition layer is interposed between the outer layer and the inner layer. The content volume of Example 1 and the Comparative Example were each 120 ml and the mass was 21 g.

[0067] The oxygen permeability (measured with MOCON OX-TRAN) of the comparative example in which no vapor deposition layer was interposed between the outer layer and the inner layer was 0.0130 [cc / day pkg]. In contrast, the oxygen permeability of Example 1 in which a vapor deposition layer was interposed between the outer layer and the inner layer was 0.0013 [cc / day pkg]. As shown by these results, Example 1 has a BIF 10 times higher than that of the comparative example, and is therefore superior in gas barrier properties. [Explanation of symbols]
