Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to lubricating oil compositions for use in internal combustion engines using fuels including biofuels. [Background technology]
[0002] At present, environmental regulations are becoming increasingly strict on a global scale, and especially the situation surrounding automobiles is becoming increasingly strict in terms of fuel efficiency and exhaust gas regulations. Behind this lies environmental issues such as global warming, and the need to protect resources due to concerns about the depletion of petroleum resources. In response to the above problems, so-called biofuels, which are made from biological resources (biomass) such as plants, have been attracting attention in recent years as an alternative to fossil fuels such as petroleum. It is said that the carbon dioxide generated by burning biofuels is offset by the carbon dioxide absorbed by the plants that are the raw materials for the fuel during their growth. Therefore, it is expected that the use of biofuels will become more widespread in the future in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which are the main cause of global warming. In preparation for the widespread use of biofuels, attempts have been made to improve lubricating oil compositions for use in automobile internal combustion engines in accordance with the characteristics of biofuels that differ from those of conventionally used petroleum, etc. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a lubricating oil composition that contains a phenolic antioxidant and an amine antioxidant in combination, thereby effectively suppressing deterioration of the lubricating oil, particularly deterioration of cleaning performance, even when biodiesel fuel is mixed into the fuel. [0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2009-024123 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] By the way, in internal combustion engines, especially diesel engines, particulate matter (PM; soot) and NOX Environmental pollution caused by exhaust gas components such as these is a problem. For this reason, automobiles equipped with diesel engines are equipped with exhaust gas purification devices such as diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and exhaust gas purification catalysts (oxidation or reduction catalysts). Generally, when a diesel engine is equipped with a DPF, post-injection of fuel is performed to burn the soot accumulated in the filter. This post-injection increases fuel dilution in the engine oil, which is expected to reduce engine oil performance. Here, when the above-mentioned biofuel is used as fuel, the biofuel easily accumulates in the engine oil due to its physical properties. In addition, polar compounds are produced when the biofuel decomposes. These factors are thought to have a significant adverse effect on corrosion of metal engine parts such as pistons. However, improvements in lubricating oil compositions with respect to inhibiting metal corrosion of engine parts caused by the contamination of biofuels are not sufficient, and further improvements in performance are required.
[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a lubricating oil composition that can suppress metal corrosion of engine parts even when a fuel containing a biofuel is used in an internal combustion engine. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] The present inventors have conducted extensive research in order to solve the above problems. As a result, it has been discovered that when a lubricating oil composition contains a certain amount of a non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B), and further contains an alkali metal borate (C) and a zinc primary dialkyldithiophosphate (D), it is possible to inhibit metal corrosion of engine parts in an internal combustion engine, even when fuels containing biofuels are used. Based on the above findings, the present inventors further conducted various studies and completed the present invention.
[0007] According to the present invention, the following [1] to [3] are provided. [1] A lubricating oil composition for use in an internal combustion engine using a fuel containing a biofuel, A lubricant composition comprising: a base oil (A); a non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B); an alkali metal borate (C); and a primary zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (D); A lubricating oil composition, wherein the content of the non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B) is 3.00 mass% or more based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition. [2] A method for producing a lubricating oil composition for use in an internal combustion engine using a fuel containing a biofuel, comprising the steps of: The method includes the steps of: mixing a base oil (A), a non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B), an alkali metal borate (C), and a primary zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (D); In the above step, the non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B) is blended in an amount of 3.00 mass% or more based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition. [0008] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a lubricating oil composition that is capable of suppressing metal corrosion of engine parts even when a fuel containing a biofuel is used in an internal combustion engine. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

For example, when "A to B" and "C to D" are described as numerical ranges, the numerical ranges "A to D" and "C to B" are also included in the scope of the present invention. In addition, unless otherwise specified, a numerical range of "lower limit value to upper limit value" described in this specification means not less than the lower limit value and not more than the upper limit value. In this specification, the numerical values in the examples are numerical values that can be used as upper or lower limits.
[0010] [Embodiments of the lubricating oil composition] The lubricating oil composition of the present embodiment contains a base oil (A), a non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B), an alkali metal borate (C), and a primary zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (D), and the content of the non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B) is 3.00 mass% or more based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.
[0011] In the following description, the “base oil (A)”, the “non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B)”, the “alkali metal borate (C)”, and the “zinc primary dialkyldithiophosphate (D)” will also be referred to as “component (A)”, “component (B)”, “component (C)”, and “component (D)”, respectively.
[0012] The lubricating oil composition of the present embodiment may be composed only of component (A), component (B), component (C), and component (D), or may further contain components other than component (A), component (B), component (C), and component (D). In the lubricating oil composition of this embodiment, the total content of components (A), (B), (C) and (D) is, based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, preferably 50 mass% or more, more preferably 60 mass% or more, even more preferably 70 mass% or more, still more preferably 80 mass% or more, even more preferably 85 mass% or more, and even more preferably 88 mass% or more.
[0013] Each component contained in the lubricating oil composition of this embodiment, and the biofuel used in internal combustion engines will be described in detail below.
[0014] <Biofuel> The biofuel used in the present embodiment is not particularly limited, and may include fuels containing one or more selected from the group consisting of natural fats and oils, hydrogenated products of natural fats and oils, transesterified products of natural fats and oils, and hydrogenated products of transesterified products of natural fats and oils. Note that the natural fats and oils in the present embodiment are not limited to those of plant origin, and may also include those of animal origin.
[0015] As natural fats and oils, various animal and vegetable fats that are widely present in nature can be used, including vegetable oils whose main component is an ester of fatty acid and glycerin, such as safflower oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil, cottonseed oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, sesame oil, castor oil, linseed oil, olive oil, tung oil, camellia oil, peanut oil, kapok oil, cacao oil, Japan wax, sunflower oil, and corn oil. The hydrogenated products of natural fats and oils are those obtained by subjecting the above-mentioned fats and oils to so-called hydrogenation in the presence of a suitable hydrogenation catalyst. Examples of the hydrogenation catalyst include nickel-based catalysts and platinum group (Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru)-based catalysts, etc. Two or more of the above catalysts may be used in combination as the hydrogenation catalyst.
[0016] The transesterification product of natural fats and oils is an ester obtained by transesterification of triglycerides constituting natural fats and oils in the presence of a suitable ester synthesis catalyst. For example, fatty acid esters that can be used as biofuels are produced by transesterifying lower alcohols and fats and oils in the presence of the ester synthesis catalyst. The lower alcohol is used as an esterification agent, and examples of alcohols having 5 or less carbon atoms include methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, and pentanol, among which methanol is selected in terms of reactivity and cost. Such lower alcohols are generally used in an amount equivalent to or greater than the amount of fats and oils. The hydrogenated product of the transesterification of natural fats and oils is obtained by hydrogenating the above-mentioned transesterification product in the presence of a suitable hydrogenation catalyst. Natural fats and oils, hydrotreated natural fats and oils, transesterified natural fats and oils, and hydrotreated transesterified natural fats and oils can also be used as blended fuels by adding them to fuels composed of hydrocarbons such as diesel. When used as a mixed fuel, it can be suitably used in fuels such as B5, which is a fuel composed of hydrocarbons such as diesel and 5% biofuel mixed together, B30, which is a fuel composed of hydrocarbons such as diesel and 30% biofuel mixed together, and B40, which is a fuel composed of hydrocarbons such as diesel and 40% biofuel mixed together. Furthermore, it naturally does not contain any hydrocarbons such as diesel, and can be suitably used for B100 fuel, which is composed only of biofuel.

[0100] [Lead elution amount after corrosion test] As the lubricating oil composition for testing, a mixed oil was used in which 10 mass% of biofuel (fuel obtained by transesterifying palm oil with methyl alcohol) was blended with each of the above-mentioned lubricating oil compositions (new oil), assuming the mixing ratio of fuel and lubricating oil in an internal combustion engine. The corrosion test was carried out as follows. 100ml of each mixed oil sample was filled into a glass container (40mm diameter x 30mm height), and a polished lead plate (25mm x 25mm x 1.0mm) was immersed completely in the sample oil. Then, air was blown into the sample oil at 5l / hr while maintaining the oil temperature at 135°C. The amount of lead (Pb) dissolved in the sample oil was measured by inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP) in accordance with JPI-5S-38-03. The smaller the amount of lead (Pb) dissolved, the better the corrosion inhibition.
[0101] The properties and corrosiveness test results of each lubricating oil composition are shown in Table 1. [Table 1]
[0102] <Evaluation Results> From Table 1, we can see the following: The lubricating oil compositions of Examples 1 to 5 had a small amount of lead (Pb) eluted in the corrosivity test, and are therefore excellent in corrosion inhibition properties. In contrast, lubricating oil compositions that do not contain 3.00 mass% or more of the non-boronated bisimide dispersant (B) based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, such as the lubricating oil compositions of Comparative Examples 1 to 7, eluted a larger amount of lead (Pb) in the corrosivity test than Examples 1 to 5, and were found to have inferior corrosion inhibition properties.
