Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a connector and a method for manufacturing a connector. [Background technology]

[0002] The following Patent Documents 1 and 2 disclose a conventional first connector. The first connector includes an outer conductor, a central conductor, and a body. The outer conductor has a cylindrical shell and a pair of first connection parts. The pair of first connection parts are piece members extending from the rear end of the shell, and are disposed rearward relative to the shell and spaced apart in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the shell. The central conductor has a terminal and a second connection part. The terminal is substantially cylindrical and has a front end and a rear end. The front end of the terminal is concentrically disposed on the shell. The rear end of the terminal is disposed rearward relative to the shell and between the pair of first connection parts. The second connection part is a plate extending substantially perpendicularly from the rear end of the terminal, and is disposed rearward relative to the shell and between the pair of first connection parts. The body is made of an insulating material. The rear end of the shell, parts of the multiple first connection parts, the rear end of the terminal, and parts of the multiple second connection parts are insert-molded into the body. That is, the body covers the rear end of the shell, a portion of the plurality of first connecting portions, the rear end of the terminal portion, and a portion of the second connecting portion.

[0003] Also, the following Patent Document 3 describes another conventional second connector. This second connector includes an outer conductor portion, a central conductor portion, and a body. The outer conductor portion has a cylindrical shell and a first connection portion. The first connection portion is a plate extending from the rear end of the shell and is disposed rearward with respect to the shell. The central conductor portion has a terminal portion and a second connection portion. The terminal portion is disposed concentrically with the shell. The second connection portion extends rearward from the rear end of the terminal portion and is disposed rearward with respect to the shell. The body is made of an insulating material, is insert-molded in the shell, and holds the terminal portion within the shell. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2013-229334 A [Patent Document 2] WO2018 / 230251 publication [Patent Document 3] JP 2015-162375 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] In the first connector, the tip of the terminal portion is disposed inside the shell, but the rear end of the terminal portion and the second connection portion are disposed outside the shell. In the second connector, the second connection portion of the central conductor portion is also disposed outside the shell. For this reason, the EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) characteristics of the first and second connectors are low.

[0006] The present invention provides a connector that can improve EMI characteristics and can be easily manufactured, and a method for manufacturing the connector. [Means for solving the problem]

[0007] A connector according to one aspect of the present invention includes a conductive shell, a body made of an insulating material, a terminal, and a cable. The shell has a generally cylindrical shell body extending in a first direction. The body is made of an insulating molding resin insert-molded into the shell body. The entire body is housed in the shell body and is exposed from the shell body in one direction in the first direction. The body has a housing hole penetrating the body in the first direction. The entire terminal is disposed in the shell body. The terminal has a front end, a rear end, and a middle part. The middle part of the terminal is at least partially held in the housing hole of the body. The front end of the terminal protrudes from the housing hole of the body in one direction in the first direction and is disposed in the shell body. Alternatively, the front end of the terminal is disposed in the housing hole of the body and exposed from the housing hole in one direction in the first direction. The rear end of the terminal is disposed in the housing hole of the body or protrudes from the housing hole of the body in the other direction in the first direction. The cable is partially inserted into the shell body from the other side in the first direction and is connected to the rear end of the terminal within the shell body, the first direction being the axial direction of the shell.

[0008] A method of manufacturing a connector according to one aspect of the present invention includes: (1) clamping a first mold having a first nesting piece and a second mold having a second nesting piece to accommodate a shell having a generally cylindrical shell body extending in a first direction within a cavity of the first mold and the second mold; blocking the shell body of the shell from one side in the first direction by the first nesting piece; and inserting a second nesting piece into the shell body from the other side in the first direction to abut against the first nesting piece while blocking the shell body from the other side in the first direction by the second nesting piece, thereby defining an injection space by the shell body, the first nesting piece, and the second nesting piece, and a gate provided in the first nesting piece communicates with the injection space; and (2) ejecting an injection port from the gate. (3) opening the first and second molds and removing the first and second inserts from the shell and the body, thereby forming a receiving hole in the portion of the body from which the second insert was removed; (4) preparing a terminal and a cable connected to the terminal; and (5) inserting the terminal into the shell body from the other side in the first direction and holding the terminal in the receiving hole of the body to position the entire terminal in the shell body and partially inserting the cable into the shell body from the other side in the first direction. Effect of the Invention

[0009] The connector and its manufacturing method according to the above-mentioned aspects improve the EMI characteristics of the connector. The reasons are as follows: The body is insert molded into the shell body and is entirely housed in the shell body. The middle portion of the terminal is at least partially held in the housing hole of the body and the entire terminal is disposed in the shell body. The cable is connected to the rear end portion of the terminal within the shell body. In this way, the entire terminal and the connection portion between the terminal and the cable are disposed in the shell body and shielded by the shell body, thereby improving the EMI characteristics of the connector.

[0010] Moreover, the connector can be easily manufactured for the following reasons: The body is insert-molded into the shell body, so the process of assembling the body into the shell body can be omitted. The body has a receiving hole, and the terminal can be easily assembled into the body simply by inserting the terminal into the receiving hole, so that the middle portion of the terminal is at least partially held by the body. [0012] Hereinafter, a number of embodiments of the present invention, including embodiments 1 and 2 and their design variations, will be described. Note that the components of the embodiments and design variations described below can be combined with each other as long as they are not inconsistent. Note also that the materials, shapes, dimensions, numbers, arrangements, etc. constituting the components in each aspect of the embodiments and design variations described below are merely examples, and that the design can be changed as desired as long as the same functions can be realized. EXAMPLES

[0013] A connector C1 according to a first embodiment of the present invention and a number of other embodiments including design variations thereof will be described below with reference to FIGS. 1A to 3B. A connector C1 according to a first embodiment is shown in FIGS. 1A to 3B. A Y-Y' direction (first direction) is shown in FIGS. 1A to 3B. The Y-Y' direction includes the Y direction (one of the first directions) and the Y' direction (the other of the first directions). An X-X' direction (second direction) is shown in FIGS. 1A to 1B and 2B to 3B. The X-X' direction is substantially perpendicular to the Y-Y' direction and includes the X direction (one of the second directions) and the X' direction (the other of the second directions). An Z-Z' direction (third direction) is shown in FIGS. 1A to 2A and 3A to 3B. The Z-Z' direction is substantially perpendicular to the Y-Y' direction and the X-X' direction and includes the Z direction (one of the third directions) and the Z' direction (the other of the third directions).

[0014] The connector C1 is a coaxial connector and includes a conductive shell 100.

[0015] The shell 100 may be made of a conductive material (for example, a metal or a carbon material such as a carbon nanotube), or may have a cylindrical body made of an insulating material and a metal film plated or vapor-deposited on its outer surface. The shell 100 may be made by cutting a conductive rod material, but is not limited to this.

[0016] The shell 100 has a shell body 110 that is substantially tubular (for example, substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal) extending in the Y-Y' direction. The shell body 110 may not have a joint between two ends of a metal plate, a notch, or a through hole that occurs when a metal plate is shaped into a tube. The entire shell 100 may not have a joint, a notch, or a through hole. This through hole penetrates the shell body 110 or the shell 100 in a direction perpendicular to the Y-Y' direction. The shell body 110 has a front end portion on the Y direction side, a rear end portion 112 on the Y' direction side, an inner peripheral surface 113 that is substantially tubular (for example, substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal) and an outer peripheral surface. The front end portion of the shell body 110 has a front end 111 that is also the front end of the shell 100 on the Y direction side. The Y-Y' direction is the axial direction of the shell body 110.

[0017] The shell 100 may further have at least one annular groove 120 and / or at least one annular protrusion 130. Hereinafter, for convenience of explanation, the at least one annular groove 120 is assumed to be one, but even if there are a plurality of annular grooves 120, each of them has the same configuration as the one annular groove 120, and the at least one annular protrusion 130 is assumed to be one, but even if there are a plurality of annular protrusions 130, each of them has the same configuration as the one annular protrusion 130.

[0018] The annular groove 120 is a substantially annular (substantially circular or polygonal) recess provided on the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110, and is disposed so that the central axis of the annular groove 120 substantially coincides with the central axis of the shell body 110 and is recessed away from the central axis of the shell body 110 (see FIGS. 2A and 2B). The annular groove 120 communicates with the inside of the shell body 110. The annular groove 120 has a substantially annular (for example, substantially circular or polygonal) bottom surface, a substantially annular first wall surface on the Y-direction side, and a substantially annular second wall surface on the Y'-direction side.

[0019] The annular protrusion 130 is a substantially annular (substantially circular or polygonal) protrusion provided on the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110, and is disposed so that the central axis of the annular protrusion 130 substantially coincides with the central axis of the shell body 110 and is convex so as to approach the central axis of the shell body 110 (see FIGS. 2A and 2B). The annular protrusion 130 has a substantially annular (for example, substantially circular or polygonal) top surface, a substantially annular first wall surface on the Y direction side, and a substantially annular second wall surface on the Y' direction side.

[0020] The shell 100 may further include a bottom 140 , an aperture 150 , and a cable holder 160 .

[0021] Bottom portion 140 is provided integrally with rear end portion 112 of shell body 110 and forms the bottom portion of shell body 110 on the Y' direction side (see FIGS. 2A to 3B). Therefore, shell body 110 and bottom portion 140 form a substantially cylinder with a bottom. Bottom portion 140 has a first surface 141 on the Y direction side. First surface 141 of bottom portion 140 faces into the shell body 110.

[0022] The cable holding part 160 is a substantially columnar shape (e.g., a substantially cylindrical or polygonal columnar shape) extending in the Y' direction from the bottom part 140 (see Figs. 2A to 3B). The outer dimensions of the cross section of the cable holding part 160 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction may be smaller than the outer dimensions of the cross section of the shell main body 110 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction, but are not limited to this. The cable holding part 160 has a substantially tubular (e.g., substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal) outer circumferential surface and a rear end surface on the Y' direction side. The cable holding part 160 can be omitted.

[0023] When the cable holding portion 160 is provided, the hole portion 150 penetrates the bottom portion 140 and the cable holding portion 160 in the Y-Y' direction (see Figs. 2A and 2B). When the cable holding portion 160 is not provided, the hole portion 150 penetrates the bottom portion 140 in the Y-Y' direction. In either case, the hole portion 150 is a substantially columnar (e.g., substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal columnar) hole extending in the Y-Y' direction, and the cross-sectional dimensions of the hole portion 150 in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction are smaller than the internal cross-sectional dimensions of the shell body 110 in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction.

[0024] When the cable holding part 160 is provided, the rear end of the cable holding part 160 becomes the rear end of the shell 100, and when the cable holding part 160 is not provided, the end of the bottom part 140 on the Y' direction side becomes the rear end of the shell 100. It is also possible to omit the bottom part 140, the hole part 150, and the cable holding part 160. In this case, the rear end of the shell main body 110 on the Y' direction side becomes the rear end of the shell 100.

[0025] Shell 100 may further have a substantially annular engagement groove 170 (see FIGS. 3A and 3B). Engagement groove 170 is a substantially annular (substantially circular or polygonal) recess provided on the outer circumferential surface of shell body 110, and is disposed so that the central axis of engagement groove 170 substantially coincides with the central axis of shell body 110, and is recessed toward the central axis of shell body 110. Note that engagement groove 170 may be omitted.

[0026] The connector C1 further includes a body 200. The body 200 is made of an insulating molded resin that is insert-molded into the shell main body 110 of the shell 100. The body 200 is entirely housed within the shell main body 110 and is exposed from the shell main body 110 in the Y direction.

[0027] The body 200 has a main body 210. The main body 210 has a front end 211, an intermediate portion 212, and a rear end 213 (see FIGS. 2A and 2B). The front end 211 of the main body 210 is a substantially columnar shape (for example, a substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal prism) extending from the intermediate portion 212 in the Y direction, and is disposed within the shell main body 110. The intermediate portion 212 of the main body 210 is a substantially columnar shape (for example, a substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal prism) between the front end 211 and the rear end 213, and is disposed within the shell main body 110. The rear end 213 of the main body 210 is a substantially columnar shape (for example, a substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal prism) extending from the intermediate portion 212 in the Y′ direction, and is disposed within the shell main body 110.

[0028] The body 200 may further have a tubular portion 220 (see Figs. 2A to 3B). The tubular portion 220 extends in the Y direction from the intermediate portion 212 and is disposed around the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 with a substantially annular gap. Therefore, the inner dimensions of the cross section of the tubular portion 220 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction are larger than the outer dimensions of the cross section of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction. Note that the tubular portion 220 may be omitted.

[0029] When the tubular portion 220 is provided, the outer peripheral surface of the intermediate portion 212 of the main body 210, the outer peripheral surface of the rear end portion 213 of the main body 210, and the outer peripheral surface of the tubular portion 220 may form the outer peripheral surface of the body 200 and be in close contact with the inner peripheral surface 113 of the shell main body 110. In this case, the outer dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the intermediate portion 212 of the main body 210, the outer dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the rear end portion 213 of the main body 210, and the outer dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the tubular portion 220 are the same as the inner dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the shell main body 110, respectively.

[0030] When the tubular portion 220 is not provided, a substantially annular gap may be formed between the front end portion 211 of the main body 210 and the shell main body 110, or the outer circumferential surface of the front end portion 211 of the main body 210 may be in close contact with the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell main body 110. In the former case, the outer dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the front end portion 211 of the main body 210 are smaller than the inner dimensions of the cross sections in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the shell main body 110, and the outer circumferential surfaces of the middle portion 212 and the rear end portion 213 of the main body 210 form the outer circumferential surface of the body 200 and are in close contact with the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell main body 110. In the latter case, the outer dimensions of the cross-sections in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 are the same as the inner dimensions of the cross-sections in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions of the shell main body 110, and the outer peripheral surfaces of the tip portion 211, the middle portion 212 and the rear end portion 213 of the main body 210 form the outer peripheral surface of the body 200 and are in close contact with the inner peripheral surface 113 of the shell main body 110.

[0031] The body 200 has a first end 201 and a second end 202. The first end 201 is the end of the body 200 located closest to the Y direction side. For example, when the cylindrical portion 220 is provided, the first end 201 can be the tip of the cylindrical portion 220 on the Y direction side (see Figs. 2A and 2B) or the tip of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 on the Y direction side (not shown), and when the cylindrical portion 220 is not provided, the first end 201 can be the tip of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 on the Y direction side. The second end 202 is the end of the body 200 located closest to the Y' direction side. For example, the second end 202 can be the rear end of the rear end portion 213 of the main body 210 on the Y' direction side.

[0032] When the bottom 140 of the shell 100 and the cable holding portion 160 are provided, or when the bottom 140 of the shell 100 is provided but the cable holding portion 160 is not provided, the shell 100 and the body 200 may further have the following configuration (1) or (2).

[0033] (1) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is shorter than the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (see FIGS. 1A to 3B). First end 201 of body 200 is located on the Y' direction side of tip 111 of shell main body 110, and second end 202 of body 200 is in close contact with first surface 141 of bottom 140 from the Y direction side and is located on the Y direction side of the rear end of shell 100.

[0034] (2) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is approximately the same as the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (not shown). First end 201 of body 200 is located at approximately the same position as tip 111 of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction, and second end 202 of body 200 is in close contact with first surface 141 of bottom 140 from the Y direction side and is located on the Y direction side with respect to the rear end of shell 100.

[0035] In the case where the bottom portion 140 and the cable holding portion 160 of the shell 100 are not provided, the shell 100 and the body 200 may further have any one of the following configurations (3) to (6).

[0036] (3) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is shorter than the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (not shown). A first end 201 of body 200 is located on the Y' direction side of front end 111 of shell main body 110, and a second end 202 of body 200 is located on the Y' direction side of the rear end of shell main body 110.

[0037] (4) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is shorter than the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (not shown). A first end 201 of body 200 is located on the Y' direction side of tip 111 of shell main body 110, and a second end 202 of body 200 is located at approximately the same position as the rear end of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction.

[0038] (5) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is shorter than the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (not shown). A first end 201 of body 200 is located at approximately the same position as tip 111 of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction, and a second end 202 of body 200 is on the Y direction side with respect to the rear end of shell main body 110.

[0039] (6) The dimension of body 200 in the Y-Y' direction is approximately the same as the dimension of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction (not shown). First end 201 of body 200 is located at approximately the same position as front end 111 of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction, and second end 202 of body 200 is located at approximately the same position as the rear end of shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction.

[0040] When the shell 100 has the at least one annular groove 120, the body 200 further has the at least one annular protrusion 230 (see FIGS. 2A to 3B). The at least one annular protrusion 230 may be one or more depending on the number of the at least one annular groove 120.

[0041] For ease of explanation, the at least one annular protrusion 230 will be referred to as one in the following description. However, even if there are a plurality of annular protrusions, each of them has the same configuration as one annular protrusion 230.

[0042] The annular protrusion 230 is a generally annular (generally circular or polygonal) protrusion provided on the outer circumferential surface of the body 200, and is disposed so that the central axis of the annular protrusion 230 generally coincides with the central axis of the shell main body 110 of the shell 100, and is convex so as to approach the central axis of the shell main body 110 of the shell 100. The annular protrusion 230 fits (FIT IN) into the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 and is in close contact with it. Therefore, the outer shape and dimensions of the annular protrusion 230 correspond to the inner shape and dimensions of the annular groove 120.

[0043] The annular protrusion 230 has a generally annular (for example, generally circular or generally polygonal) top surface, a generally annular first wall surface on the Y-direction side, and a generally annular second wall surface on the Y'-direction side. The top surface of the annular protrusion 230 is in close contact with the bottom surface of the annular groove 120, the first wall surface of the annular protrusion 230 is in close contact with the first wall surface of the annular groove 120, and the second wall surface of the annular protrusion 230 is in close contact with the second wall surface of the annular groove 120.

[0044] When the shell 100 has the at least one annular protrusion 130, the body 200 further has at least one annular groove 240 (see FIGS. 2A to 3B). The number of the at least one annular groove 240 may be one or more depending on the number of the at least one annular protrusion 130.

[0045] For ease of explanation, the at least one annular groove 240 will be referred to as one in the following description. However, even if there are a plurality of annular grooves, each of the plurality of annular grooves has the same configuration as one annular groove 240.

[0046] The annular groove 240 is a generally annular (generally circular or polygonal) recess provided on the outer circumferential surface of the body 200, and is disposed so that the central axis of the annular groove 240 generally coincides with the central axis of the shell main body 110 of the shell 100, and is convex so as to approach the central axis of the shell main body 110 of the shell 100. The annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 fits into the annular groove 240 and is in close contact with it. The inner shape and dimensions of the annular groove 240 correspond to the outer shape and dimensions of the annular protrusion 130.

[0047] The annular groove 240 has a substantially annular (for example, substantially circular or polygonal) bottom surface, a substantially annular first wall surface on the Y-direction side, and a substantially annular second wall surface on the Y'-direction side. The top surface of the annular protrusion 130 is in close contact with the bottom surface of the annular groove 240, the first wall surface of the annular protrusion 130 is in close contact with the first wall surface of the annular groove 240, and the second wall surface of the annular protrusion 130 is in close contact with the second wall surface of the annular groove 240.

[0048] The body 200 further has a receiving hole 250 (see FIGS. 2A to 3B). The receiving hole 250 may penetrate the body 200 in the Y-Y' direction. For example, the receiving hole 250 may penetrate the main body 210 in the Y-Y' direction. The central axis of the receiving hole 250 may coincide with the central axis of the shell main body 110.

[0049] The accommodation hole 250 may have a first hole 251 and a second hole 252. The first hole 251 is a generally columnar (e.g., generally cylindrical or generally polygonal) hole extending in the Y-Y' direction and opening in the Y direction. The second hole 252 is a hole extending in the Y' direction from the first hole 251, communicating with the first hole 251 and opening in the Y' direction. The dimensions of the cross section of the first hole 251 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction are smaller than the dimensions of the cross section of the second hole 252 in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction.

[0050] It is possible to omit the first hole 251 and the second hole 252. In this case, the receiving hole 250 may be a hole having a substantially columnar shape (for example, a substantially cylindrical or polygonal columnar shape) extending in the YY' direction.

[0051] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have the above-mentioned configuration (1) or (2), the accommodating hole 250 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) is connected to the hole portion 150 of the shell 100 (see Figures 2A and 2B).

[0052] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have any of the above configurations (3) to (6), the receiving hole 250 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) opens in the Y' direction (not shown).

[0053] The connector C1 further includes a terminal 300. The terminal 300 is made of a conductive material (for example, a metal or a carbon material such as carbon nanotubes). An imaginary line (not shown) passing through the center of the terminal 300 and extending in the Y-Y' direction is disposed so as to substantially coincide with the central axis of the shell body 110, whereby the terminal 300 and the shell body 110 form a coaxial structure. The terminal 300 has a front end portion 310, a middle portion 320, and a rear end portion 330.

[0054] The intermediate portion 320 of the terminal 300 is a portion between the front end portion 310 and the rear end portion 330. The intermediate portion 320 is configured, for example, of a substantially tube extending in the Y-Y' direction (for example, a substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal tube (see Figs. 2A to 3B)), a rod (not shown) extending in the Y-Y' direction, or a plate (not shown) extending in the Y-Y' direction. The intermediate portion 320 is at least partially accommodated and held in the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200. When the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 has a first hole 251 and a second hole 252, the intermediate portion 320 is at least partially accommodated and held in the first hole 251 of the body 200. The cross-sectional outer shapes of intermediate portion 320 in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction are approximately the same as the cross-sectional shapes of accommodating hole 250 of body 200 (first hole 251 if first hole 251 of accommodating hole 250 is provided), and the cross-sectional outer dimensions of intermediate portion 320 in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction are approximately the same as or slightly smaller than the cross-sectional dimensions of accommodating hole 250 of body 200 (first hole 251 if first hole 251 of accommodating hole 250 is provided).

[0055] The tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 is configured as a substantially tube (for example, a substantially cylindrical or substantially polygonal tube (see Figs. 2A to 3B)) extending in the Y direction from the intermediate portion 320, a pair of beams extending in the Y direction from the intermediate portion 320 (see Figs. 5A and 5B described later), a rod (not shown) extending in the Y direction from the intermediate portion 320, or a plate (not shown) extending in the Y direction from the intermediate portion 320. The tip portion 310 may protrude in the Y direction from the accommodation hole 250 of the body 200 and be disposed in the shell main body 110 (see Figs. 2A to 2B), or may be disposed in the accommodation hole 250 of the body 200 and exposed in the Y direction from the accommodation hole 250 (see Figs. 5A and 5B described later).

[0056] The rear end 330 of the terminal 300 is configured as a roughly tube-like shape (e.g., a roughly cylindrical or roughly polygonal tube (see Figures 2A to 3B)) extending in the Y' direction from the intermediate portion 320, a rod (not shown) extending in the Y' direction from the intermediate portion 320, or a plate (not shown) extending in the Y' direction from the intermediate portion 320.

[0057] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have the above-mentioned configuration (1) or (2), the rear end 330 is positioned within the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) (see Figures 2A and 2B).

[0058] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have any of the configurations (3) to (6) above, the rear end 330 may be disposed within the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) (not shown), or may protrude in the Y' direction from the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) and be disposed within the shell main body 110 (not shown).

[0059] The terminal 300 may further include a first portion 301. The first portion 301 is an arbitrary portion in the Y-Y' direction of the terminal 300. The first portion 301 is provided at any one of the front end portion 310, the middle portion 320, and the rear end portion 330 of the terminal 300.

[0060] The terminal 300 may further have at least one second portion 302 and / or at least one third portion 303. Hereinafter, for convenience of explanation, the at least one second portion 302 is also assumed to be one, but even if there are multiple second portions 302, each of them has the same configuration as the single second portion 302, and the at least one third portion 303 is also assumed to be one, but even if there are multiple third portions 303, each of them has the same configuration as the single third portion 303.

[0061] The second portion 302 is any portion of the terminal 300 in the Y-Y' direction except the first portion 301, and has a higher impedance than the first portion 301. The second portion 302 is provided at any of the front end portion 310, the middle portion 320, and the rear end portion 330 of the terminal 300. There are various factors that cause the impedance of the second portion 302 to be higher than the impedance of the first portion 301, but the main factor is that the external dimensions of the cross section in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction of the second portion 302 are larger than the external dimensions of the cross section in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction of the first portion 301. As the external dimensions of the cross section in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction of the second portion 302 become larger, the impedance of the second portion 302 becomes higher.

[0062] The third portion 303 is any portion of the terminal 300 in the Y-Y' direction except the first portion 301, and has an impedance lower than that of the first portion 301. When the second portion 302 and the third portion 303 are provided, the second portion 302 and the third portion 303 are different portions of the terminal 300 in the Y-Y' direction. The third portion 303 is provided at any one of the front portion 310, the middle portion 320, and the rear portion 330 of the terminal 300. There are various factors that cause the impedance of the third portion 303 to be higher than that of the first portion 301, but the main factor among them is that the external dimensions of the cross section in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction of the third portion 303 are smaller than the external dimensions of the cross section in the X-X' direction and the Z-Z' direction of the first portion 301. As the outer dimensions of the cross sections of third portion 303 in the XX' and ZZ' directions become smaller, the impedance of third portion 303 becomes lower.

[0063] Note that CAD data of the connector C1 may be input to a high-frequency simulator to create a model, and a simulation may be performed based on the model information, etc., to find a portion (second part 302) having high impedance and / or a portion (third part 303) having low impedance in the Y-Y' direction of the terminal 300. As the high-frequency simulator, for example, Femtet (registered trademark), a program made by Murata Software Co., Ltd., or Ansys HFSS ("Ansys" is a registered trademark), a program made by ANSYS, Inc., etc. may be used.

[0064] When the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 is provided, the annular groove 120 is disposed around the second part 302 of the terminal 300 and is recessed away from the second part 302 of the terminal 300 (see FIGS. 2A and 2B). As the depth dimension of the annular groove 120 (the straight-line distance from the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110 of the shell 100 to the bottom surface of the annular groove 120 in a direction perpendicular to the Y-Y' direction (hereinafter referred to as the "perpendicular direction")) increases, the straight-line distance in the perpendicular direction from the bottom surface of the annular groove 120 to the second part 302 of the terminal 300 increases, and the impedance of the second part 302 of the terminal 300 can be reduced. Therefore, the depth dimension of the annular groove 120 can be set according to the impedance of the second part 302 of the terminal 300. For example, while changing the depth dimension of the annular groove 120, CAD data of the connector C1 may be input into a high-frequency simulator to model it, and simulations may be performed multiple times based on the model information, etc., to determine the depth dimension of the annular groove 120 so that the impedance of the second portion 302 of the terminal 300 is substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300. In addition to setting the depth dimension of the annular groove 120, the shape of a portion of the body 200 around the second portion 302 of the terminal 300 may be changed so that the impedance of the second portion 302 of the terminal 300 is substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300.

[0065] When the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 is provided, the annular protrusion 130 is disposed around the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 and is convex so as to approach the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 (see FIGS. 2A and 2B). As the height dimension of the annular protrusion 130 (the straight-line distance in a direction perpendicular to the Y-Y' direction from the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110 of the shell 100 to the top surface of the annular protrusion 130) increases, the straight-line distance in the perpendicular direction from the top surface of the annular protrusion 130 to the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 decreases, and the impedance of the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 can be increased. Therefore, the height dimension of the annular protrusion 130 can be set according to the impedance of the third portion 303 of the terminal 300. For example, while changing the height dimension of the annular protrusion 130, CAD data of the connector C1 may be input into a high-frequency simulator to model it, and simulations may be performed multiple times based on the model information, etc., to determine the height dimension of the annular protrusion 130 so that the impedance of the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 is substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300. In addition to setting the depth dimension of the height dimension of the annular protrusion 130, the shape of the portion of the body 200 around the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 may be changed so that the impedance of the third portion 303 of the terminal 300 is substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300.

[0066] Even when the second part 302 of the terminal 300 is provided, the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 can be omitted. When the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 is omitted, the annular protrusion 230 of the body 200 is also omitted. Even when the third part 303 of the terminal 300 is provided, the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 can be omitted. When the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 is omitted, the annular groove 240 of the body 200 is also omitted. The second part 302 of the terminal 300 can be omitted. In this case, the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 and the annular protrusion 230 of the body 200 can be omitted, but they do not have to be omitted. The third part 303 of the terminal 300 can be omitted. In this case, the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 and the annular groove 240 of the body 200 can be omitted, but they do not have to be omitted.

[0067] The connector C1 further includes a cable 400. The cable 400 is partially inserted into the shell body 110 from the Y' direction side and is connected to the rear end portion 330 of the terminal 300 inside the shell body 110.

[0068] The cable 400 is a coaxial cable. The cable 400 has an outer insulation 410, an outer conductor 420, an inner insulation 430, and an inner conductor 440.

[0069] The outer insulator 410 is a substantially cylindrical jacket made of an insulating material. The outer conductor 420 is a substantially cylindrical jacket made of a conductor such as braided copper wire, and is disposed inside the outer insulator 410. In other words, the outer conductor 420 is covered by the outer insulator 410. The outer conductor 420 has a tip portion on the Y direction side. The tip portion of the outer conductor 420 protrudes from the outer insulator 410 in the Y direction.

[0070] The inner insulator 430 is a tube made of an insulating material and is disposed within the outer conductor 420. The inner insulator 430 has a tip portion on the Y direction side. The tip portion of the inner insulator 430 protrudes from the outer conductor 420 in the Y direction. The inner conductor 440 is a metal wire such as a copper wire and is disposed within the inner insulator 430. The inner conductor 440 has a tip portion on the Y direction side. The tip portion of the inner conductor 440 protrudes from the inner insulator 430 in the Y direction.

[0071] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have the configuration (1) or (2) above, the outer shape of the cross section in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the tip portion of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 is approximately the same as the shape of the cross section in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the hole 150 of the shell 100, and the outer dimension of the cross section in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the tip portion of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 is approximately the same as or slightly smaller than the dimension of the cross section in the X-X' direction and Z-Z' direction of the hole 150 of the shell 100 (see Figures 2A and 2B). The tip portion of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 is fitted (FIT IN) into the hole 150 of the shell 100. A tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is inserted into the receiving hole 250 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) of the body 200 and is connected to the rear end 330 of the terminal 300 within the receiving hole 250 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided). When the cable holding portion 160 of the shell 100 is provided, a tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is fitted onto the cable holding portion 160 and connected to the cable holding portion 160 (see Figs. 2A and 2B). When the cable holding portion 160 of the shell 100 is not provided, a tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is connected in contact with the shell 100 (not shown).

[0072] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have any of the above configurations (3) to (6) and the rear end 330 of the terminal 300 is disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) (not shown), the tip end of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 and the tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 are inserted into the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 from the Y' direction side, and the tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is connected to the rear end 330 of the terminal 300 in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided). The tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 may be connected in contact with the shell main body 110.

[0073] When the shell 100 and the body 200 have any one of the above configurations (3) to (6) and the rear end 330 of the terminal 300 protrudes in the Y' direction from the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 (the second hole 252 if the second hole 252 is provided) (not shown), the tip end of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 and the tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 are inserted into the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 from the Y' direction side, and the tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is connected to the rear end 330 of the terminal 300 within the shell main body 110. The tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 may be connected in contact with the shell main body 110.

[0074] When the cable holding part 160 of the shell 100 is provided, the connector C1 may further include a conductive ring 500 (see Figs. 1A to 3B). The conductive ring 500 is made of a conductor (e.g., metal, etc.) formed in a ring shape. The conductive ring 500 is fitted around the tip of the outer conductor 420 fitted around the cable holding part 160 of the cable 400 and the tip of the outer insulator 410 of the cable 400 on the Y direction side. In this way, the conductive ring 500 is fixed to the cable holding part 160 via the tip of the outer conductor 420 and is also fixed to the tip of the outer insulator 410 of the cable 400. At least a part of the conductive ring 500 is crimped and fixed to the cable holding part 160 via the outer conductor 420, and may also be fixed to the tip of the outer insulator 410 of the cable 400, but is not limited thereto. The conductive ring 500 can be omitted.

[0075] The connector C1 may further include a housing 600 (see FIGS. 1A to 3B). The housing 600 is made of an insulating material (e.g., insulating resin, etc.). The housing 600 has a housing main body 610 and a connection portion 620. The housing main body 610 is a substantially rectangular tube extending in the Y-Y' direction, and has an accommodation space 611 therein. The accommodation space 611 penetrates the housing main body 610 in the Y-Y' direction. The connection portion 620 is a substantially cylindrical shape extending from the housing main body 610 in the Y direction. The inside of the connection portion 620 communicates with the accommodation space 611 of the housing main body 610.

[0076] A portion of the shell 100 on the Y' direction side is accommodated and held in the accommodation space 611 of the housing main body 610. A portion of the shell 100 on the Y direction side is disposed in the connection portion 620. When the conductive ring 500 is provided, the conductive ring 500 is disposed in the accommodation space 611, and the cable 400 is led out from the accommodation space 611 in the Y' direction. When the conductive ring 500 is not provided, the cable 400 is led out from the accommodation space 611 in the Y' direction.

[0077] An engagement hole 612 may be provided on the wall surface of the housing main body 610 on the X' direction side. The engagement hole 612 has a first hole on the Z direction side, a second hole on the Z' direction side, a connecting groove, a first engagement portion on the Z direction side, and a second engagement portion on the Z' direction side. The first hole and the second hole are provided on the wall surface of the housing main body 610 on the X' direction side, extend in the X direction, are arranged on the Z direction side and the Z' direction side with respect to the accommodation space 611, communicate with the accommodation space 611, and open in the X direction. The connecting groove is provided on the wall surface of the housing main body 610 on the X' direction side, and extends from the first hole to the second hole. The first engagement portion is an edge portion on the Z' direction side of the opening of the first hole on the X direction side or a convex portion provided on the edge portion. The second engagement portion is an edge portion on the Z direction side of the opening of the second hole on the X direction side or a convex portion provided on the edge portion.

[0078] The housing 600 may further include a locking portion 630. The locking portion 630 extends in the Y direction from the housing body 610 along the connecting portion 620. The locking portion 630 is provided with a protruding portion 631 that protrudes in the Z direction.

[0079] When the engagement groove 170 of the shell body 110 of the shell 100 and the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600 are provided, the connector C1 may further include a holder 700 (see Figs. 1A to 3B). The holder 700 is a substantially C-shaped member and includes first and second engagement arms 710 and a connecting portion 720. The distance between the first and second engagement arms 710 in the Z-Z' direction is slightly smaller than the distance between the bottom surface of the engagement groove 170 on the Z-Z' direction side and the bottom surface of the Z' direction side. The first and second engagement arms 710 extend in the X direction from the Z-direction end and the Z'-direction end of the connecting portion 720, and protruding claw portions are provided on the Z'-direction side and the Z-direction side at the free ends of the first and second engagement arms 710. The connecting portion 720 is inserted into the connecting groove of the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600. The first and second engagement arms 710 are inserted into the first and second holes of the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600, and the claw portions of the first and second engagement arms 710 are hooked onto the first and second engagement portions of the engagement hole 612. In this manner, the first and second engagement arms 710 elastically hold the shell main body 110 and are fixed to the housing 600.

[0080] Even when the engagement hole 612 and the retainer 700 of the housing 600 are provided, the engagement groove 170 of the shell 100 can be omitted. In this case, it is sufficient that the retainer 700 is configured to elastically clamp the shell body 110. It is also possible to omit the engagement groove 170 of the shell 100, the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600, and the retainer 700. In addition, along with the omission of the engagement groove 170 and the retainer 700 of the shell 100, it is also possible to omit the housing 600 itself.

[0081] A non-limiting manufacturing method of connector C1 will be described in detail below. Fig. 4A shows a mold device for insert-molding body 200 into shell main body 110 of shell 100, and Fig. 4B shows an enlarged view of a portion α thereof.

[0082] First, shell 100 is prepared. Shell 100 has shell body 110, bottom 140, hole 150, and cable holding portion 160. A roughly cylindrical shell holder H extending in the Y-Y' direction is prepared. Shell 100 is fitted into shell holder H. In other words, shell holder H is fitted onto the outside of shell 100.

[0083] The first mold 10 and the second mold 20 of the mold device are clamped to accommodate the shell holder H and the shell 100 in the cavities of the first mold 10 and the second mold 20 (see Figs. 4A and 4B). The first mold 10 includes a first nesting member 11, and the second mold 20 includes a second nesting member 21.

[0084] In the case where the first end 201 of the body 200 is located on the Y'-direction side with respect to the tip 111 of the shell main body 110, when the first mold 10 and the second mold 20 are clamped, the first insert 11 is inserted into the shell main body 110 from the Y-direction side to close the shell main body 110 from the Y-direction side by the first insert 11, and the second insert 21 is inserted into the hole 150 of the shell 100 and the shell main body 110 from the Y'-direction side to abut against the first insert 11, and the shell main body 110 is closed from the Y'-direction side by the second insert 21. As a result, an injection space is defined by the shell main body 110, the first insert 11, and the second insert 21, and a gate G provided in the first insert 11 communicates with the injection space. The injection space corresponds to the shape and size of the body 200 in any of the above-mentioned aspects. The portion of the second nesting member 21 inserted into the shell main body 110 corresponds to the shape and size of the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. The portion of the second nesting member 21 inserted into the hole portion 150 fits into the hole portion 150. As a result, the shell main body 110 is blocked from the Y' direction side by the second nesting member 21. The gate G is a pin gate, and its injection port is disposed in the shell main body 110 and communicates with the injection space. The injection port of the gate G is preferably in communication with a portion of the injection space corresponding to the tip surface of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 of the body 200 in any of the above-mentioned aspects, but may be in communication with a portion corresponding to the first extreme end 201 of the body 200 other than the tip surface of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210.

[0085] When the first end 201 of the body 200 is located at approximately the same position as the tip 111 of the shell main body 110 in the Y-Y' direction, the first nesting member 11 is not inserted into the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 when the mold is clamped, and the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 is blocked from the Y direction side by the first nesting member 11.

[0086] When the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110 is provided with the annular groove 120, the annular groove 120 forms a part of the injection space. When the inner circumferential surface 113 of the shell body 110 is provided with the annular protrusion 130, the annular protrusion 130 is disposed within the injection space.

[0087] When the cable holding portion 160 is omitted, the second insert 21 may be inserted from the Y' direction into the hole 150 in the bottom 140 of the shell 100 and the shell body 110 during clamping so as to abut against the first insert 11, and the shell body 110 may be closed from the Y' direction by the second insert 21. In this case as well, the portion of the second insert 21 inserted into the hole 150 fits into the hole 150.

[0088] When the bottom portion 140, the hole portion 150, and the cable holding portion 160 are omitted, during clamping, the second insert member 21 may be inserted into the shell body 110 of the shell 100 from the Y' direction side to abut against the first insert member 11, and the shell body 110 may be closed from the Y' direction side by the second insert member 21. In this case, the second insert member 21 has a portion that is inserted into the shell body 110 and a portion that closes the shell body 110 from the Y' direction side.

[0089] The shell holder H may be omitted. In this case, it is preferable that only the shell 100 of any one of the above-described aspects is accommodated in the cavity during mold clamping.

[0090] After the mold is clamped, molten resin is injected from the gate G into the injection space to fill it. As a result, the filled molten resin adheres closely to the inner peripheral surface 113 of the shell body 110. When the bottom 140 is provided, the filled molten resin also adheres closely to the first surface 141 of the bottom 140. When the annular groove 120 is provided, the molten resin also fills the annular groove 120 and adheres closely to the bottom surface, first wall surface, and second wall surface of the annular groove 120. When the annular protrusion 130 is provided, the filled molten resin also adheres closely to the top surface, first wall surface, and second wall surface of the annular protrusion 130.

[0091] After the molten resin is filled, the molten resin is solidified by cooling or the like. As a result, the solidified molten resin becomes the body 200, and the body 200 is insert-molded into the shell main body 110. When the annular groove 120 is provided, the portion of the solidified molten resin inside the annular groove 120 becomes the annular protrusion 230 that fits into the annular groove 120 of the body 200. When the annular protrusion 130 is provided, a recess having a shape corresponding to the annular protrusion 130 is formed in the solidified molten resin as the annular groove 240 of the body 200.

[0092] After the molten resin is solidified, the first mold 10 and the second mold 20 are opened, and the first insert 11 and the second insert 21 are removed from the shell 100 and the body 200. At this time, the portion of the second insert 21 that is inserted into the shell main body 110 is removed from the body 200, and an accommodation hole 250 is formed in the body 200. When the bottom 140, the hole 150, and the cable holding portion 160 are provided in the shell 100, or when the cable holding portion 160 is not provided in the shell 100 but the bottom 140 and the hole 150 are provided in the shell 200, the accommodation hole 250 in the body 200 communicates with the hole 150. When the bottom 140, the hole 150, and the cable holding portion are not provided, the accommodation hole 250 in the body 200 opens from the shell main body 110 in the Y' direction.

[0093] Before or after insert molding of the body 200, the terminal 300 and the cable 400 are prepared. The tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is connected to the rear end 330 of the terminal 300. If the conductive ring 500 is provided, the tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is inserted into the conductive ring 500. If the conductive ring 500 is not provided, this insertion step is omitted.

[0094] When the shell 100 is provided with the bottom portion 140, the hole portion 150, and the cable holding portion 160, the terminal 300 connected to the cable 400 is inserted from the hole portion 150 of the shell 100 into the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. As a result, the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 is disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 and exposed to the Y direction side, or the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 protrudes from the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 in the Y direction and is disposed in the shell main body 110 of the shell 100. The middle portion 320 of the terminal 300 is disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 and is at least partially held therein. The rear end portion 330 of the terminal 300 is disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. The tip of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is inserted into the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 through the hole 150 of the shell 100, following the terminal 300, and is disposed in the receiving hole 250. When the terminal 300 is provided with the second part 302, the second part 302 is disposed inside the annular groove 120 of the shell 100 when the terminal 300 is held in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. When the terminal 300 is provided with the third part 303, the third part 303 is disposed inside the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 when the terminal 300 is held in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. The tip of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 is fitted into the hole 150 of the shell 100 to close the hole 150. The tip of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is fitted onto the cable holding part 160. When the conductive ring 500 is provided, the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is fitted onto the cable holding portion 160, so that the conductive ring 500 is disposed around the cable holding portion 160. The conductive ring 500 is partially crimped, so that the conductive ring 500 is pressed against the cable holding portion 160 via the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400. In this manner, the conductive ring 500 is fixed to the cable holding portion 160 via the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400, and the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is electrically connected to the cable holding portion 160. When the conductive ring 500 is not provided, the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is fitted onto the cable holding portion 160, so that the tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 is electrically connected to the cable holding portion 160.

[0095] In the case where the shell 100 is not provided with the cable holding portion 160 but is provided with the bottom portion 140 and the hole portion 150, as described above, the terminal 300 is inserted into the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 from the hole portion 150 of the shell 100, the tip portion of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is inserted into the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 from the hole portion 150 of the shell 100, and the tip portion of the inner insulator 430 of the cable 400 fits into the hole portion 150 of the shell 100 to close the hole portion 150. The tip portion of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 may be in contact with the shell 100 for electrical connection, but this is not necessary.

[0096] When the shell 100 is not provided with the bottom portion 140, the hole portion 150, and the cable holding portion 160, the terminal 300 connected to the cable 400 is inserted from the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 into the receiving hole 250 of the body 200. Following the terminal 300, the tip end of the inner conductor 440 of the cable 400 is inserted from the shell main body 110 of the shell 100 into the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 and disposed within the accommodating hole 250. The tip end of the outer conductor 420 of the cable 400 may be brought into contact with the shell 100 for electrical connection, but this is not essential.

[0097] When the housing 600 is provided, the terminal 300 and the cable 400 are assembled in the shell 100, and then the housing 600 is prepared. Then, the shell 100 is inserted into the accommodation space 611 of the housing 600 from the Y' direction side. As a result, the Y direction side portion of the shell 100 is inserted from the accommodation space 611 into the connection portion 620, and the Y' direction side portion of the shell 100 is accommodated and held in the accommodation space 611 of the housing main body 610.

[0098] Thereafter, the holder 700 is prepared. The first and second engagement arms 710 of the holder 700 are inserted into the first and second holes of the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600 from the X' direction side. Then, the first and second engagement arms 710 are inserted into the Z direction side and Z' direction side parts of the engagement groove 170 of the shell body 110 of the shell 100, and elastically hold the shell body 110, and the claw parts of the first and second engagement arms 710 are hooked onto the first and second engagement parts of the engagement hole 612. In this way, the first and second engagement arms 710 of the holder 700 are fixed to the housing 600, and the shell body 110 is fixed to the housing 600. In this way, the connector C1 is manufactured.

[0099] In addition, when the housing 600 is provided but the retainer 700 is not provided, the process of attaching the retainer 700 to the housing 600 can be omitted, and when both the housing 600 and the retainer 700 are not provided, the process of incorporating the shell 100 etc. into the housing 600 and the process of attaching the retainer 700 to the housing 600 can be omitted.

[0100] The connector C1 and the manufacturing method thereof provide the following technical features and advantages (1) to (7).

[0101] (1) Technical features and effects The EMI characteristics of the connector C1 are improved. The reason is as follows. The body 200 is insert molded in the shell body 110 and is entirely housed in the shell body 110. The middle portion 320 of the terminal 300 is at least partially held in the housing hole 250 of the body 200 and the terminal 300 is entirely disposed in the shell body 110. The cable 400 is connected to the rear end portion 330 of the terminal 300 in the shell body 110. In this manner, the entire terminal 300 and the connection portion between the terminal 300 and the cable 400 are disposed in the shell body 110 and shielded by the shell body 110, so that the EMI characteristics of the connector C1 are improved. Moreover, if the shell body 110 does not have a joint, a notch, or a through hole, the EMI characteristics of the connector C1 are further improved.

[0102] (2) Technical features and effects The connector C1 can be manufactured easily. The reasons are as follows. Since the body 200 is disposed in the shell main body 110 and exposed in the Y direction, the body 200 can be insert-molded in the shell main body 110. Since the body 200 is insert-molded in the shell main body 110, the step of incorporating the body 200 in the shell main body 110 can be omitted. The body 200 is provided with an accommodating hole 250, and the terminal 300 can be easily incorporated in the body 200 simply by inserting the terminal 300 into the accommodating hole 250, since the middle portion 320 of the terminal 300 is at least partially held in the body 200. Thus, the connector C1 can be manufactured easily.

[0103] (3) Technical features and effects If the body 200 is inserted and held in the shell body 110 of the shell 100, a fine air layer may be generated at the interface between the body 200 and the shell body 110. The presence of this air layer around a part of the terminal 300 may cause an increase in the impedance of a part of the terminal 300. In addition, the clearance between the body 200 and the shell body 110 of the shell 100 may become large, resulting in rattling or positional displacement of the body 200 within the shell body 110. However, in the case of the connector C1, since the body 200 is insert-molded into the shell body 110, the outer peripheral surface of the body 200 is in close contact with the shell body 110, so that the possibility of the above-mentioned air layer being generated is reduced, and it becomes easier to adjust the impedance of the terminal 300. In addition, since the clearance between the body 200 and the shell body 110 of the shell 100 is small, rattling or positional displacement of the body 200 within the shell body 110 can be suppressed.

[0104] (4) Technical features and effects When at least one annular groove 120 is provided in the shell 100 and the terminal 300 is provided with a first portion 301 and at least one second portion 302 having a higher impedance than the first portion 301, the impedance of the terminal 300 can be easily adjusted. Since the at least one annular groove 120 is disposed around the at least one second portion 302 of the terminal 300 and is recessed away from the at least one second portion 302, the impedance of the at least one second portion 302 can be reduced and the impedance of the at least one second portion 302 of the terminal 300 can be made substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300. Moreover, when the shell 100 is made by cutting, the dimensions and position of the at least one annular groove 120 can be made with high accuracy. Therefore, the impedance of the at least one second portion 302 can be adjusted with high accuracy.

[0105] (5) Technical features and effects When at least one annular protrusion 130 is provided on the shell 100 and at least one third portion 303 having a lower impedance than the first portion 301 is provided on the terminal 300, the impedance of the terminal 300 can be easily adjusted. Since at least one annular protrusion 130 is arranged around at least one third portion 303 of the terminal 300 and is convex so as to approach at least one third portion 303, the impedance of at least one third portion 303 can be increased and the impedance of at least one third portion 303 of the terminal 300 can be made substantially the same as or close to the impedance of the first portion 301 of the terminal 300. Moreover, when the shell 100 is made by cutting, the dimensions and position of at least one annular protrusion 130 can be made with high accuracy. Therefore, the impedance of at least one third portion 303 can be adjusted with high accuracy.

[0106] (6) Technical features and effects When at least one annular groove 120 is provided in the shell 100 and at least one annular protrusion 230 is provided in the body 200, and / or when at least one annular protrusion 130 is provided in the shell 100 and at least one annular groove 240 is provided in the body 200, the position of the body 200 is restricted in the Y-Y' direction relative to the shell main body 110 of the shell 100. This is because at least one annular protrusion 230 of the body 200 is fitted into at least one annular groove 120 of the shell main body 110 and / or at least one annular protrusion 130 of the shell main body 110 is fitted into at least one annular groove 240 of the body 200.

[0107] (7) Technical features and effects When the first end 201 of the body 200 is positioned on the Y' side of the tip 111 of the shell main body 110, when the mating connector is inserted into the connector C1 from the Y side, the tolerance range in which the mating connector can be connected when tilted diagonally relative to the connector C1 or offset in the X-X' direction and / or Z-Z' direction can be increased. EXAMPLES

[0108] Hereinafter, a connector C2 according to a second embodiment of the present invention and a number of other embodiments including its design variations will be described with reference to FIGS. 5A to 7B. The connector C2 has the same configuration as the connector C1 described above, except that the connector C2 is a mating connector that can be connected to the connector C1. Hereinafter, only the differences will be described in detail, and overlapping descriptions will be omitted. Note that, like FIGS. 1A to 3B, the Y-Y' direction (first direction) is also shown in FIGS. 5A to 7B. Like FIGS. 1A to 1B and 2B to 3B, the X-X' direction (second direction) is also shown in FIGS. 5A to 6A and 7A to 7B. Like FIGS. 1A to 2A and 3A to 3B, the Z-Z' direction (third direction) is also shown in FIGS. 5A to 6A and 7A to 7B.

[0109] The terminal 300 of the connector C2 has a similar configuration to the terminal 300 of the connector C1, except that the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 is configured to be connectable to the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C1. For example, it is possible that either the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 or the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 has a female shape (for example, a pair of arms or a roughly cylindrical shape, etc.) while the other has a male shape (for example, a rod or a plate, etc.).

[0110] When the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C1 protrudes in the Y direction from the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C1, the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 may be positioned within the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C2 and exposed in the Y direction from the accommodating hole 250 (see Figures 6A and 6B).

[0111] When the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C1 is positioned within the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C1 and is exposed from the accommodating hole 250 in the Y direction, the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 may protrude in the Y direction from the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C2 (not shown).

[0112] When the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C1 is disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C1 and exposed in the Y direction from the receiving hole 250, the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 may be disposed in the receiving hole 250 of the body 200 of the connector C2 and exposed in the Y direction from the receiving hole 250 (not shown). In this case, an annular gap is generated between the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 and the tip portion 211 of the body 200 of the connector C2, and when the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2 and the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C1 are connected to each other, the tip portion 211 of the body 200 of the connector C1 is preferably inserted into the annular gap in the receiving hole 250 of the tip portion 310 of the terminal 300 of the connector C2, but the reverse may also be true.

[0113] The terminal 300 of the connector C2 may have a first portion 301, at least one second portion 302 and / or at least one third portion 303, but is not required to have these.

[0114] The tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 can be inserted into and removed from the tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C2. The inner shapes of the cross sections of the tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C2 in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions are substantially the same as the outer shapes of the cross sections of the tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions. The inner dimensions of the cross sections of the tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C2 in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions are larger than the outer dimensions of the cross sections of the tip of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 in the X-X' and Z-Z' directions. The shell body 110 of the shell 100 of the connector C2 may have at least one annular groove 120 and / or at least one annular protrusion 130, but may not have them.

[0115] Regardless of whether the body 200 of the connector C2 is provided with the tubular portion 220, a substantially annular gap is generated between the tip portion 211 of the main body 210 of the body 200 and the shell main body 110. The tubular portion 220 of the body 200 of the connector C2 is disposed with a substantially annular gap around a base portion on the Y'-direction side of the tip portion 211 of the main body 210. The body 200 of the connector C2 may have at least one annular protrusion 230 and / or at least one annular groove 240, but is not required to have them.

[0116] The body 200 of the connector C2 may further have at least one abutment portion 260 instead of the at least one annular groove 240. The at least one abutment portion 260 may be one or more depending on the number of the at least one annular protrusion 130.

[0117] For ease of explanation, the at least one contact portion 260 will be referred to as one, but even if there are a plurality of contact portions, each of them has the same configuration as the one contact portion 260. When the tubular portion 220 of the body 200 is provided, the contact portion 260 may be configured as a tip portion of the tubular portion 220 on the Y direction side, or may be configured as a part of the main body 210. When the tubular portion 220 of the body 200 is not provided, the contact portion 260 is configured as a part of the main body 210. In either case, the contact portion 260 contacts the annular protrusion 130 from the Y' direction side.

[0118] When there are a plurality of at least one annular protrusions 130, the body 200 may have at least one abutment portion 260 in addition to the at least one annular groove 240. The at least one abutment portion 260 may be omitted.

[0119] The connector C2 may further include a ground terminal 800. The ground terminal 800 has a first annular portion 810, a second annular portion 820, and a plurality of contact springs 830. The first annular portion 810 and the second annular portion 820 are C-shaped or annular metal plates that can be elastically deformed to reduce their diameter, and are arranged at intervals in the Y-Y' direction. The plurality of contact springs 830 are provided between the first annular portion 810 and the second annular portion 820, and are arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction of the first annular portion 810. The plurality of contact springs 830 are curved in an arc shape such that their intermediate portions are convex toward a virtual line that passes through the centers of the first annular portion 810 and the second annular portion 820 and extends in the Y-Y' direction. The ground terminal 800 is housed in the shell main body 110 of the shell 100, and is arranged around the tip portion 211 of the main body 210. A first annular portion 810 and a second annular portion 820 of the ground terminal 800 are in elastic contact with the inner peripheral surface 113 of the shell body 110 and are electrically connected, and a plurality of contact springs 830 of the ground terminal 800 are arranged around a tip portion 310 of a terminal 300 arranged in the accommodating hole 250 of the body 200. When the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 is inserted into the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C2, the plurality of contact springs 830 of the ground terminal 800 are in elastic contact with the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C1.

[0120] It is possible to omit the ground terminal 800. In this case, it is preferable that the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C2 and the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 contact each other with each other in a state where the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C1 is inserted into the tip portion of the shell body 110 of the connector C2.

[0121] The connector C2 may include a housing 600'. The housing 600' of the connector C2 differs in configuration from the housing 600 of the connector C1 as follows.

[0122] The housing 600' has a housing main body 610' and a tubular portion 630'. The housing main body 610' is a substantially rectangular tube extending in the Y-Y' direction and has an accommodation space 611' inside. The accommodation space 611' penetrates the housing main body 610' in the Y-Y' direction, and the connection portion 620 of the housing 600 of the connector C1 can be inserted and removed into the accommodation space 611'. The tubular portion 630' is a substantially cylindrical shape extending in the Y' direction from the housing main body 610. The inside of the tubular portion 630' communicates with the accommodation space 611' of the housing main body 610'.

[0123] The shell 100 is accommodated and held in the accommodation space 611' of the housing main body 610'. When the conductive ring 500 is provided, the conductive ring 500 is disposed in the accommodation space 611' and the cylindrical portion 630', and the cable 400 is led out from the cylindrical portion 630' in the Y' direction. When the conductive ring 500 is not provided, the cable 400 is led out from the cylindrical portion 630' in the Y' direction.

[0124] When the holder 700 is provided in the connector C2, an engagement hole 612 may be further provided in the wall surface on the X' direction side of the housing main body 610' of the connector C2. Like the connector C1, the connector C2 is configured to fix the first and second engagement arms 710 of the holder 700 to the engagement holes 612 of the housing 600' and to fix the shell main body 110 to the housing 600'.

[0125] The housing 600' may further include a locking portion 640'. The locking portion 640' is a box that is provided so as to protrude from the wall portion of the housing main body 610' on the Z direction side toward the Z direction side and extends in the Y-Y' direction. The locking portion 640' is provided with a guide hole 641' that extends in the Y-Y' direction and opens in the Y' direction. The guide hole 641' extends in the Y-Y' direction and communicates with the accommodation space 611'. The locking portion 630 of the housing 600 of the connector C1 is insertable and detachable into the guide hole 641'. A locking hole 642' is provided in a wall portion of the locking portion 640' on the Z direction side relative to the guide hole 641'. The locking hole 642' extends in the Z direction from the guide hole 641' and communicates with the guide hole 641'. The locking portion 630 of the connector C1 is inserted into the guide hole 641', and the protruding portion 631 is caught on the edge of the locking hole 642', thereby locking the protruding portion 631 into the locking hole 642'. If the locking portion 630 of the connector C1 is not provided, the locking portion 640' is also omitted.

[0126] Even when the engagement hole 612 and the retainer 700 of the housing 600' are provided, the engagement groove 170 of the shell 100 can be omitted. In this case, it is sufficient that the retainer 700 is configured to elastically clamp the shell body 110. It is also possible to omit the engagement groove 170 of the shell 100, the engagement hole 612 of the housing 600', and the retainer 700. In addition, along with the omission of the engagement groove 170 and the retainer 700 of the shell 100, it is also possible to omit the housing 600' itself.

[0127] The connector C2 as described above is manufactured in the same manner as the connector C1, except for the following points. In the case where the body 200 of the connector C2 is provided with the abutment portion 260, when the second insert 21 is inserted into the shell main body 110 and abutted against the first insert 11 during mold clamping, the second insert 21 abuts against the top surface of the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100. As a result, the second wall surface of the annular protrusion 130 of the shell 100 is disposed facing the injection space. When the molten resin is filled, the molten resin also adheres to the second wall surface of the annular protrusion 130.
