AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing systems for testing electrical wiring harnesses are inefficient, cumbersome, and difficult to scale, often requiring bulky test cabinets and hardwired adapters that limit mobility and flexibility.

Method used

The development of an automatic wireless harness measurement system (WHAMS) that uses wireless testing modules (WTMs) physically coupled to electrical wiring harnesses, allowing for wireless transmission of test instructions and results to a central computer system.

Benefits of technology

This system enables rigorous and efficient testing of electrical wiring harnesses, reducing equipment requirements, increasing mobility, and allowing for real-time data transmission, thereby improving testing efficiency and productivity.

Abstract

To strictly test an electrical wiring harness by a wireless test module in a wireless harness automatic measurement system.SOLUTION: A system (100) according to the present invention includes a computer system (130) and a wireless test module (121A-D) comprising wireless transceivers (120A-D) and physically coupled to an electrical wiring harness (110). The computer system sends a plurality of test instructions to the wireless test module according to the automated test plan. Each wireless test module receives one or more of the plurality of instructions using the wireless transceiver and performs one or more tests on the electrical wiring harness in accordance with the instructions. Each wireless test module wirelessly transmits test results to the computer system using the wireless transceiver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
