AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing methods for measuring unburned ammonia concentration in heating furnace exhaust gas are cumbersome, require batch processing, lead to equipment size and cost increases due to moisture handling, and result in corrosion and measurement inaccuracies.

Method used

A method that estimates unburned ammonia concentration by correlating carbon monoxide concentration with unburned ammonia using online measurements, allowing for real-time monitoring and control of operating conditions to minimize unburned ammonia discharge.

Benefits of technology

Enables continuous, accurate, and cost-effective measurement of unburned ammonia concentration, reducing equipment size and maintenance costs while effectively suppressing unburned ammonia emissions.

Abstract

To provide an unburned ammonia concentration estimation method which can measure the concentration of ammonia included in an exhaust gas of a heating furnace using ammonia capable of suppressing the exhaust of carbon dioxide as a fuel gas online by a simple method, a heating furnace operation method and a heating furnace controller.SOLUTION: Disclosed is an unburned ammonia concentration estimation method for estimating the concentration of unburned ammonia included in an exhaust gas exhausted from a heating furnace executing burner heating using a fuel gas including ammonia and a carbon-containing fuel. The unburned ammonia concentration estimation method comprises: a specification step for specifying a correlation between the concentrations of carbon monoxide and the unburned ammonia included in the exhaust gas of the heating furnace; a measurement step for measuring the concentration of the carbon monoxide included in the exhaust gas of the heating furnace during the operation of the heating furnace; and an estimation step for estimating the concentration of the unburned ammonia included in the exhaust gas of the heating furnace based on the correlation between the concentrations of the carbon monoxide and the unburned ammonia specified in the specification step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
