Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention

[0010] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the invention according to the claims is not limited to the following embodiments. Also, not all of the configurations described in this embodiment are necessarily essential as means for solving the problems. For the sake of clarity of explanation, the following description and drawings have been appropriately omitted and simplified. In each drawing, the same elements are denoted by the same reference numerals, and duplicate explanations are omitted as necessary.

[0011] (Embodiment 1) <Display Holding Device> With reference to FIGS. 1 to 10, a display holding device according to Embodiment 1 of the present disclosure will be described. The display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment is a device for holding one or more displays D.

[0012] FIG. 1 is a front view of the display holding device according to Embodiment 1. FIG. 2 is a top view of the display holding device according to Embodiment 1. FIG. 3 is a side view of the display holding device according to Embodiment 1. FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the display holding device according to Embodiment 1. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment may be fixed to a table T (which may be a desk) as a whole by, for example, a leg fixing jig 302 (see FIG. 3) described later and used.

[0013] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, in this example, the display holding device 1 can hold up to three displays D and includes two rod-shaped members 101, 101. Further, as will be described later, the display holding device 1 may include three display fixing jigs 200 for three displays D. In this example, the display holding device 1 also includes two legs 300 that hold at least one of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101, but the means for holding the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 is not limited to the legs 300, and any means may be used. Further, the display holding device 1 may be configured to hold four or more displays D, for example, by placing each display D vertically.

[0014] Here, in this example, the case where the display holding device 1 includes two rod-shaped members 101, 101 is shown as an example, but the number of rod-shaped members 101 is not limited to two. For example, the number of rod-shaped members 101 may be one or three or more as long as it does not prevent the movement of the display D as described later. However, hereinafter, the case where the number of rod-shaped members 101 is two will be described in detail as a representative.

[0015] In addition, in this example, a case where two rod-shaped members 101, 101 extend horizontally is shown as an example. However, depending on the use of the display holding device 1, the display holding device 1 may be installed and fixed such that these rod-shaped members 101, 101 extend vertically.

[0016] As shown in FIG. 2, each of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 has a rod shape with an arcuate curved structure. In this example, when viewed from above the display holding device 1, since the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 completely overlap, only one rod-shaped member 101 is shown in FIG. 2. Here, the arc of each rod-shaped member 101 is part or all of an arc that forms a perfect circle. By arranging the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 in such a configuration, the display fixing jig 200 can be passed through each ring 201 of the display fixing jig 200 described later, and the display fixing jig 200 can be fixed at a predetermined position by a fastening tool such as a bolt and a nut (not shown).

[0017] As shown in FIG. 1, both ends of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 are respectively connected by rod-shaped joints 102, 102. The two rod-shaped members 101, 101 are firmly fixed at a predetermined height by the two leg portions 300 and the rod-shaped joints 102, 102 described later. Note that the display holding device 1 may include a rod-shaped joint (not shown) having a leg portion different from the leg portion 300 (for example, a leg portion that serves as a base when installed on the table T) instead of the rod-shaped joint 102. Thereby, the stability of the display holding device 1 after installation can be increased.

[0018] Here, the cross-section perpendicular to the extending direction of each rod-shaped object 101, 101 is a perfect circle. In this way, by using the rod-shaped objects 101, 101 with a circular cross-section, each ring 201 of the display fixing jig 200 can be easily slid on its surface. Note that the cross-section perpendicular to the extending direction of each rod-shaped object 101, 101 is not limited to a perfect circle. This cross-section may be a polygon such as an ellipse or an octagon as long as each ring 201 of the display fixing jig 200 can slide. In this way, since each ring 201 of the display fixing jig 200 can slide with respect to each rod-shaped object 101, 101, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily. Although not shown, each rod-shaped object 101, 101 may be hollow like a pipe or a tube, or may be solid like a wooden or metal rod (not hollow inside). Also, the material of each rod-shaped object 101, 101 may be any material such as plastic or iron as long as the strength when holding the display D can be ensured.

[0019] The three display fixing jigs 200 are each for fixing the target display D to two rod-shaped objects 101, 101. As shown in FIG. 1, each display fixing jig 200 includes two rings 201, 201 through which the upper rod-shaped object 101 passes, two rings 201, 201 through which the lower rod-shaped object 101 passes, two ring joints 202 for arranging the upper and lower rings 201, 201 at the same position when viewed from above, and a fixing fitting 203 fixed between the two ring joints 202, 202. As shown in FIG. 1, the four rings 201, 201, 201, 201 are fixed to the two ring joints 202, 202 by bolts and nuts, and the fixing fitting 203 is fixed between the two ring joints 202, 202 by bolts and nuts.

[0020] The fixing fitting 203 is fixed to the back surface of the separately installed display D to hold the display D at a predetermined height. A through hole (not shown) is provided in the back surface of the display D, and the display D is fixed to the fixing fitting 203 by bolts and nuts through the through hole. Note that the display D may be fixed to the fixing fitting 203 by fasteners (not shown) other than bolts and nuts while considering stability issues.

[0021] In this embodiment, the display fixing jig 200 may be configured to be detachable from the two rod-like members 101, 101 by completely opening the ring 201. Alternatively, the display fixing jig 200 may be slidable with respect to the two rod-like members 101, 101 and may be configured to be removable from the ends of the respective rod-like members 101 by removing one of the rod-like member joints 102. Even if the display fixing jig 200 is configured in this way, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily, similar to the case where each ring 201 is slidable.

[0022] The two legs 300 hold at least one of the two rod-like members 101, 101 at a predetermined distance apart so that each of the two rod-like members 101, 101 appears arc-shaped when viewed from a predetermined direction and is parallel to each other. By holding the two rod-like members 101, 101 in an arc shape and parallel to each other, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily. As shown in FIG. 3, each leg 300 includes two rod-like member fixing portions 301, 301 corresponding to the two upper and lower rod-like members 101, 101, and a leg fixing jig 302 that is inserted into the edge portion of the table T in the depth direction where the display holding device 1 is installed to fix the display holding device 1. Note that when configured to hold only one of the two rod-like members 101, 101, only one rod-like member fixing portion 301 may be provided on each leg 300.

[0023] Each rod fixing part 301 is for fixing by sandwiching the corresponding rod 101. Although not shown in the figure, each rod fixing part 301 is provided with a jig for firmly fixing while holding the corresponding rod 101. After the two rods 101, 101 are installed, the two rods 101, 101 are fixed by these jigs.

[0024] The leg fixing jig 302 is provided at the bottom of each leg 300 and is for fixing the entire display holding device 1 to the table T. The leg fixing jig 302 may firmly fix the leg 300 on the table T by a clamp structure such as a vise, for example. However, the leg fixing jig 302 may have any structure as long as it can firmly fix the leg 300 on the table T.

[0025] Note that instead of providing the leg fixing jig 302, the leg 300 may be provided with a base serving as a base so that the display holding device 1 is directly installed on the table T. Thereby, the display holding device 1 with a predetermined number of displays D fixed thereon can be installed on a general-purpose table or desk. In this case, fixing means to the table or the like may be provided separately.

[0026] Here, the two legs 300 are for fixing the two rods 101, 101 in parallel so that the arc shapes of the two rods 101, 101 overlap when viewed from a predetermined direction. By fixing the two rods 101, 101 in this way, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily. The predetermined direction is not limited to only the vertical direction, and may be a direction inclined by a predetermined angle with respect to the vertical direction. In this case, the upper and lower two rod fixing parts 301, 301 of each leg 300 will also be displaced in the depth direction of the table T corresponding to the inclination angle. The user of the display holding device 1 may select a variation in the arrangement of the two rod fixing parts 301, 301 according to how much inclination of the display D is desired.

[0027] Although not shown in the drawings, the display holding device 1 may be provided with a moving mechanism for moving the upper rod fixing portion 301, the upper rod fixing portion 301 or the lower rod fixing portion 301, or both of them, in the depth direction of the table T. Further, the display holding device 1 may be provided with another moving mechanism for integrally moving the upper and lower rod-like members 101, 101 up and down with respect to the main body portion of the leg portion 300 (or the table surface of the table T). Thus, the tilt angle of the display D can be easily adjusted according to the user's seat height or the like.

[0028] Also, the display holding device 1 does not have to be of the type installed on the table T by changing the configuration of the leg portions 300, 300. For example, when each leg portion 300 is vertically long so as to be installable directly on the floor surface and has a base that can be installed on the floor surface, the predetermined direction may be the horizontal direction. Alternatively, when there is a through hole in the center of the table T and the display fixing jig 200 can be installed so as to face substantially upward with the two rod-like members 101, 101 fixed by the two rod joints 102, the predetermined direction may also be the horizontal direction. In these cases, as long as the user of the display holding device 1 can secure the distance between the user's eyes and the display D as described later, the user will view one or more displays D held by the display holding device 1 in a posture of looking down (looking obliquely downward).

[0029] <Display holding device after holding the display> Next, a state in which the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment holds the display D will be described. FIG. 5 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1 holds three displays D. FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing an example of a state in which the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1 holds three displays D.

[0030] As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the display D is held by the fixing metal fittings 203 of each display fixing jig 200 of the display holding device 1. As can also be seen from FIGS. 5 and 6, the display direction of the display D is directed toward the center of the perfect circle formed by the arcs of the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101. Therefore, when the user's head is located near the center of the perfect circle, the user of the display holding device 1 can view all the displays D at a certain distance. The user's visual field in this case will be described later with reference to the drawings.

[0031] Note that in the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment, the size of the display screen of the display D is not particularly limited. When the display holding device 1 holds three displays D, the size of the display screen of each display D may be determined so that adjacent displays D do not overlap.

[0032] Here, the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment may hold only two displays D. In that case, since there is a margin in the lengths of the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101, the arrangement position of the display D with respect to the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101 can be set according to the user's needs.

[0033] FIG. 7 is a diagram showing an example of a state in which two displays D are held in the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1. Note that, in order to simplify the drawing, in FIG. 7, the illustration of the legs 300, 300 of the display holding device 1 is omitted.

[0034] For example, as shown in FIG. 7(a), the display D on the right side as viewed from the user may be removed, and the remaining two displays D, D may be arranged close to the center in the longitudinal direction (the direction in which the arcs extend) of the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101. Thereby, the user of the display holding device 1 can view the two displays D, D at the same distance. Therefore, compared with the display fixing device of Patent Document 1, the user of the display holding device 1 can view the two displays D, D without discomfort.

[0035] Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 7(b), the two displays D, D arranged near the longitudinal centers of the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101 at the time of FIG. 7(a) may be moved leftward. Also in this case, the user of the display holding device 1 will view the two displays D, D at the same distance. Thus, according to the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1, the versatility of the arrangement of the display D can be enhanced.

[0036] <User visibility and operability> Next, the user visibility and operability with respect to the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1 will be described. First, various vertical fields of view will be described. FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram showing various vertical fields of view with respect to the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1. Note that the display D is not shown in FIG. 8.

[0037] The user U of the display holding device 1 sits on a chair and faces the display holding device 1 installed on the table T directly. When viewing the display D, the range 30° downward from the standard line of sight horizontal to the line of sight is the optimal field of view for the user, and the center thereof is the normal line of sight of the user. In the example shown in FIG. 8, the maximum field of view during eyeball rotation in the facing state is 25° above and 35° below the standard line of sight. Also, the possible field of view during head rotation in the facing state is 65° above and 50° below the standard line of sight. In the display holding device 1 of the present embodiment, the predetermined distance between the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101, the height of the leg portion 300 from the table surface, etc. may be determined in consideration of the size of the table T and these viewing angles.

[0038] Next, various horizontal fields of view will be described. FIG. 9 is a schematic diagram showing various horizontal fields of view with respect to the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1. Note that the display D is also shown in FIG. 9.

[0039] Similar to the cases of various vertical fields of view, the user U of the display holding device 1 sits on a chair and faces directly the display holding device 1 installed on the table T. The direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the table T is the normal line of sight. Also, the range of 15° to the left and right of this normal line of sight is the optimal field of view. In the example shown in FIG. 9, the maximum field of view during eyeball rotation in the facing state is in the range of 35° to the left and right of the normal line of sight. Also, the possible field of view during head rotation in the facing state is in the range of 60° to the left and right of the normal line of sight. In the display holding device 1 of the present embodiment, considering the size of the table T and these field angles, the longitudinal lengths of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 and the screen size of the display D to be installed may be determined.

[0040] Next, the relationship between the user U and the distance to each display D will be described. FIG. 10 is a schematic diagram showing the distances to each part of the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1. First, consider the size of the table T on which the display holding device 1 is installed. Considering the convenience of the user U who uses a plurality of displays D, the width W of the table T is preferably in the range of 1200 to 1800 mm. The length of the table T in the depth direction is not particularly limited as long as the display holding device 1 can be installed.

[0041] Next, in various documents, the optimal value range of the distance between the eyes of the user U and the display screen of the display D is 450 to 700 mm. And when the user U rotates the head with the vicinity of the back of the head as the head rotation center O, the display D can be regarded as a chord corresponding to a part of the arc of each rod-shaped member 101. Therefore, the distance between the eyes of the user U and the display screen of each display D can be made substantially constant. As a result, the user U of the display holding device 1 does not need to change the focus when shifting the line of sight from the currently viewed display D to another display D, so that an image or video on another display D can be quickly visually recognized.

[0042] Here, the vertical width of the heads of general adult men and women, that is, the distance from the back of the head to the center of both eyes (the vertical width of the head) is statistically about 167 to 203 mm. If this distance is added directly to the range of the optimal value of the above distance, the distance a from the head rotation center O to the display D is in the range of 617 to 903 mm as the optimal value range. The radius r of each rod 101 only needs to be equal to or greater than this distance a if the display D can be moved to the extent of the tangent line in contact with the arc of each rod 101. That is, the radius of the perfect circle forming the arc of each rod 101 only needs to be 617 mm or more.

[0043] And to obtain the radius r of each rod 101, the width of the fixing fitting 203 of the display fixing jig 200, the thickness of the display D, etc. must be considered. Also, considering the dimensions in the lateral width direction of the table T, in this example, the maximum value of the radius r of each rod 101 is about 1039 mm. That is, the radius of the perfect circle forming the arc of each rod 101 only needs to be 1039 mm or less.

[0044] By setting the radius r of each rod 101 consisting of an arc of a perfect circle in this way, the visibility for the user of the display holding device 1 can be enhanced for all displays D. Also, when an input device connected to a computer (not shown) is provided, the operability can also be enhanced.

[0045] Note that in the display holding device 1, although the radius r of the perfect circle forming the arc of each rod 101 is determined to be one value, in order to set the distance a from the head rotation center O to the display D within the above optimal value range, a mechanism for adjusting the position of the fixing fitting 203 in the direction of the radius r may be provided. Thereby, the visibility for the user of the display holding device 1 can be enhanced for all displays D.

[0046] As described above, the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment is a display holding device 1 for holding one or more (in this example, three) displays D, and includes two rod-shaped members 101, 101 each having an arcuate structure. The two rod-shaped members 101, 101 are each configured to be held at a predetermined distance apart so as to be arcuately visible from a predetermined direction and to be parallel to each other. By configuring the display holding device 1 in this way, one or more displays D are held in a position like a chord with respect to a part of the arcuate shape of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101. Therefore, the distance between the head rotation center O and each display D becomes constant, and the user of the display holding device 1 can comfortably view one or more displays D. Further, since the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 are fixed in an arcuate shape and parallel to each other, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily.

[0047] Also, in the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment, since the arcs of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 are part or all of an arc formed by a perfect circle, the rings 201, 201 of the display fixing jig 200 can be easily slid. Thereby, the movement of the display D can be performed smoothly and easily, and thus the user of the display holding device 1 can select the desired arrangement of the display D.

[0048] Furthermore, in the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment, the radius r of the perfect circle forming the arcs of the two rod-shaped members 101, 101 may be 617 mm or more and 1039 mm or less in consideration of the range of the optimum value of the distance between the eyes of the user U and the display screen of the display D. Since such a range almost coincides with the size of a general office desk (table), the versatility of the display holding device 1 can be improved.

[0049] In addition, the display holding device 1 according to the present embodiment may include one or more (in this example, three) display fixing jigs 200 that fix each of one or more displays D to at least one of two rod-shaped members 101, 101. And each display fixing jig 200 may be detachable or slidable with respect to at least one rod-shaped member 101. By configuring the display holding device 1 in this way, the movement of the display D can be made smoother and easier.

[0050] (Embodiment 2) <Console System> Next, with reference to FIGS. 11 to 13, a console system according to Embodiment 2 of the present disclosure will be described. The console system C according to the present embodiment is a console system including a display holding device 2 similar to the display holding device 1 according to Embodiment 1, as will be described later. In each part of the display holding device 2, the same or similar members as those of the display holding device 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and redundant descriptions are appropriately omitted.

[0051] FIG. 11 is a perspective view of the console system C according to Embodiment 2 as viewed obliquely from the front. FIG. 12 is a perspective view of the console system C according to Embodiment 2 as viewed obliquely from the rear. As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the console system C according to the present embodiment includes a display holding device 2 and a console table T1.

[0052] Similar to the display holding device 1, the display holding device 2 can hold up to three displays D, and includes two rod-shaped members 101, 101, three display fixing jigs 200 for three displays D, and two legs 400. Note that the display holding device 2 may be configured to hold four or more displays D, for example, by placing each display D vertically. The console table T1 includes various input devices arranged on the table and two legs 400 for fixing the table surface.

[0053] In this way, the two legs 400 of the console table T1 also serve as the two legs 400 of the display holding device 2. Note that a reinforcing plate as shown in FIG. 12 may be provided between the two legs 400. Also, as in the first embodiment, by means other than the legs 400, the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101 may be held at a predetermined distance apart so that each appears to be in the arc shape from a predetermined direction and is parallel to each other.

[0054] In this example, the console table T1 includes, as various input devices, three touch panels TP including two horizontal types and one vertical type, an electronic pen holder P, a touch pad TD, and a keyboard KB on its board. A keyboard cover KBC is provided on the keyboard KB. Note that the input devices of the console table T1 are not limited to such a combination, and other combinations of configurations may be used.

[0055] When a user of the console system C inputs to these input devices, an image or video output corresponding to the input is displayed on the display D via a game device or a computer (not shown).

[0056] Since the display holding device 2 of the console system C according to the present embodiment has the same configuration as the display holding device 1 according to the first embodiment, it can achieve the same operations and effects as the display holding device 1 described in the first embodiment.

[0057] Here, the display holding device 2 of the console system C according to the present embodiment may hold only two displays D. In that case, since there is room in the lengths of the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101, the arrangement locations of the displays D with respect to the two rod-shaped objects 101, 101 can be set according to the needs of the user. FIG. 13 is a diagram showing an example of a state in which two displays D are held in the display holding device 2 of the console system C according to the second embodiment.

[0058] For example, as shown in Fig. 13(a), the display D on the left side as seen from the user may be removed, and the remaining two displays D and D may be arranged closer to the longitudinal center of the two rod-like members 101 and 101. As a result, the user of the console system C will view the two displays D and D at the same distance. Therefore, compared with the display fixing device of Patent Document 1, the user of the console system C can view the two displays D and D without discomfort.

[0059] After that, as shown in Fig. 13(b), the two displays D and D arranged closer to the longitudinal center of the two rod-like members 101 and 101 at the time of Fig. 13(a) may be moved to the right. Also in this case, the user of the console system C will view the two displays D at the same distance. Thus, according to the display holding device 2 of the console system C according to Embodiment 2, the versatility of the arrangement of the display D can be enhanced.

[0060] Note that the console system C only needs to fix the height of each display D from the floor surface, and the height at which each display D is arranged does not depend on the height of the table portion of the console table T1. For example, by attaching each input device to the user's body, arm, finger, etc., the table portion of the console table T1 may be omitted. Also, as long as the three displays D can be fixedly arranged, the width of the table portion of the console table T1 may be made smaller (more compact) compared to the horizontal length of each of the rod-like members 101 and 101.

[0061] As described above, the console system C according to the present embodiment includes a display holding device 2 for holding one or more (in this example, three) displays D, one or more displays D held by the display holding device 2, an input device, and a console table T1 having legs 400. The legs 400 of the console table T1 may also serve as the legs 400 of the display holding device 2. By configuring the console system C in this way, one or more displays D are held in a position like a chord with respect to a part of the arc shape of the two rod-like members 101, 101. Therefore, similar to the first embodiment, the distance between the head rotation center O (see FIG. 10) and each display D is constant, and the user of the console system C can comfortably view one or more displays D.

[0062] As described above, the present disclosure has been described with reference to the embodiments. However, the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiments. Various changes that can be understood by those skilled in the art can be made to the configuration and details of the present disclosure. And each embodiment can be combined with other embodiments as appropriate.

[0063] Each drawing is merely an example for explaining one or more embodiments. Each drawing is not associated with only one specific embodiment, but may be associated with one or more other embodiments. As can be understood by those skilled in the art, various features described with reference to any one drawing can be combined with features shown in one or more other drawings, for example, to create an embodiment not explicitly shown or described.
