AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing personal care product bottles with snap-on closures are difficult to open and reseal, leading to inefficiencies in reuse and increased waste, while maintaining a secure seal during transport and minimizing manufacturing costs.

Method used

A closure design featuring a cylindrical snap-on barrel with resistance and guide recesses, allowing easy removal and reattachment by alternating axial and rotational forces, ensuring durability and secure attachment to the bottle neck.

Benefits of technology

Facilitates easy refilling and reuse of bottles by consumers, while maintaining a secure seal and withstanding industrial drop tests, balancing ease of use with manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Abstract

To provide a push-in (snap) / twist-off sealing device with significantly enhanced durability.SOLUTION: A bottle combined with a sealing device 22 comprises an upper wall section defining an opening and a cylindrical snap-fit tube section 30 extending downward from the upper wall section. The tube section 30 comprises a threaded section 34 designed to engage with a male threaded section 60 on a bottle neck. The threaded section of the tube and the threaded section of the bottle neck pass over each other when the sealing device is snap-fitted onto the bottle during its manufacturing process. The tube comprises a resistance recess 42 and a guide recess. The resistance recess 42 and the guide recess accommodate a pushing element on a bottle shoulder, enabling loosening of the threads of the sealing device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
