AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional screening systems for stormwater, combined sewer-stormwater, and industrial waste systems are inefficient and lack user-friendly features for removing solids, requiring mechanical cleaning methods that can disrupt hydraulic operations.

Method used

A screening system with a movable cleaning assembly, including a ring of nozzles or downwardly extending members, angled holes in the screen, and variable volume inlet assembly, to enhance self-cleaning capabilities and solid separation.

Benefits of technology

The system effectively captures and separates solids, reduces mechanical cleaning needs, and optimizes hydraulic efficiency by establishing circular fluid flow and adjustable inlet conduits, enhancing the overall performance of solid-liquid separation.

Abstract

To provide a screening system for removing floating and suspended solids from a floating liquid, and to provide a screen body for use in the screening system and a manufacturing method of the screen body.SOLUTION: A screening system for solid removal includes: a housing 101; and a screen 104 positioned within the housing. A flow inlet 102 is operatively connected to an interior chamber 125 defined by the screen. A sump 106 is downstream from the flow inlet for capturing solids that do not pass through the screen. A flow outlet 108 is downstream from the screen and in fluid communication with the flow inlet. A moveable cleaning assembly may be positioned either within an outer periphery part of the screen, around the outer periphery part of the screen or both. The moveable cleaning assembly is moveable with respect to the screen.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
