Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a medical or cosmetic electronic device, in particular for combining two types of current in one channel, advantageously combining low frequency, medium frequency (electrical stimulation) and high frequency (radio frequency). [Background technology]

[0002] Electrotherapy is a non-hazardous, non-invasive technique that uses electricity for therapeutic purposes. This technique can relieve pain, strengthen muscle fibers, and promote healing of living tissue. Low frequency (1Hz-150Hz) is for superficial nerve stimulation, medium frequency (1kHz-10kHz) is for deep nerve stimulation, and high frequency (100kHz-1.2MHz) is for superficial or deep selective diathermal stimulation. Low frequency (LF) and medium frequency (MF) are commonly referred to as electrical stimulation, and high frequency (HF) is referred to as radiofrequency.

[0003] These different types of electrical therapeutic currents circulate between two plates that contact the skin and act as electrodes, either fixed or movable. The practitioner uses the different types of currents in sequence. Low-frequency (1Hz-150Hz) currents, called "microcurrents", consist of pulse trains to treat chronic pain, inflammation, drainage, and muscle contractions. In general, the electrical properties of microcurrents are much inferior to other electrical stimulation currents. Microcurrents are particularly suited to localized and superficial areas.

[0004] At mid-frequency (1kHz and 10kHz), the coherent current is of the sine wave type modulated with a low frequency signal, allowing it to penetrate as deeply as the patient can tolerate. Amplitude modulation is applied to a 1kHz to 10kHz sine wave carrier, creating a carried low frequency signal that allows for the contraction of deep muscles with antagonistic effects. This current is used specifically to contract deep muscles that are essential for the patient's posture.

[0005] Electrostimulation devices are known to be used for muscle strengthening, either autonomously or by a practitioner such as a kinesiotherapist.

[0006] Furthermore, heat is a long-standing therapeutic modality in kinesitherapy and is divided into two categories: superficial heat agents and deep heat agents. Deep heat therapy modalities include long-wave and short-wave therapeutic diathermy, ultrasound, and contact radiofrequency, the latter also called high-frequency current of 100 kHz to 1.2 MHz. This type of deep heat therapy is called diathermy.

[0007] Also known is TECAR therapy based on TECAR (Transfer of Energy Capacitive And Resistive) currents. TECAR therapy is a contact radiofrequency treatment, i.e. a type of electrotherapy using high-frequency currents. The development of this technology was made possible by the development of resistive electrodes in the early 90s. TECAR therapy generates contact radiofrequency currents in the high-frequency spectrum. In the capacitive mode, the resonance is greater in soft tissues rather than muscles, while in the resistive mode the resonance is greater deep in hard tissues such as ligaments and bones. Traditionally, the therapeutic wavelength spectrum ranged from 300 kHz to 1.2 MHz.

[0008] There are many electrical treatment techniques, but each treatment must be administered separately with a separate device, complicating treatment protocols and limiting access to the various techniques as practitioners are equipped with specific machines for each application. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0009] There is therefore a need to propose technical solutions that allow an optimized and simplified treatment. [Means for solving the problem]

[0010] Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following description and the accompanying drawings, and it will be understood that other advantages may be incorporated.

[0011] To this end, an electrotherapy device according to one embodiment includes a first voltage generating module generating a first voltage having a first frequency and having a first terminal and a second terminal, a second voltage generating module generating a second voltage having a second frequency higher than the first frequency and having a third terminal and a fourth terminal, a transmit channel, and a receive channel, the first terminal and the third terminal being connected to the transmit channel, and the second terminal and the fourth terminal being connected to the receive channel.

[0012] According to this embodiment, two voltages at two different frequencies can be applied by one and the same transmission channel and one and the same reception channel.

[0013] More specifically, the electrotherapy device includes a control unit that controls a first voltage generating module to simultaneously generate a first voltage having a first frequency and a second voltage generating module to simultaneously generate a second voltage having a second frequency.

[0014] Advantageously, the control unit generates a signal on the transmission line relating a sinusoidal voltage of the first frequency modulated with a third frequency and a sinusoidal voltage of the second frequency modulated with a fourth frequency, the signal being the sum of the voltages of the first and second voltage generating modules.

[0015] Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method for operating the electrotherapy device described above, the method comprising: a. generating, by a first voltage generation module, a first voltage having a first frequency; b. generating, by a second voltage generating module, a second voltage having a second frequency higher than the first frequency; Steps a and b are performed simultaneously. In this way, the two voltage generating modules operate simultaneously. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0036] According to one embodiment, a method for operating an electrotherapy device 1 in which the presented impedance of the device is changed when the first voltage generation module 100 is active, resulting in modulation of a high frequency sinusoidal voltage and a low frequency modulated mid frequency voltage.

[0037] According to one embodiment, the method for operating the electrotherapy device 1 when the first voltage generating module 100 is operating, disconnects the second transformer 21. Otherwise, the output of the first transformer 11 may be short-circuited and unable to generate an output current.

[0038] According to one embodiment, a method of operating an electrotherapy device 1, wherein when the second voltage generation module 200 is operating, the first transformer 11 does not modify the sinusoidal current at the output of the second transformer 21. The impedance presented is negligible compared to the impedance of the user 30.

[0039] The invention relates to an electrotherapy device 1 comprising two voltage generation modules 100, 200. Advantageously, the two voltage generation modules are insulated.

[0040] Advantageously, this device makes it possible to simultaneously combine medium frequency interferential currents and high frequency electrotherapeutic currents, preferably with pulses to simulate low frequency microcurrents.

[0041] The device 1 comprises a first voltage generation module 100, which includes a first voltage generator 10. The first voltage generator 10 generates a first voltage having a first frequency. Advantageously, the first voltage is a sinusoidal voltage. Preferably, the first frequency is in a first frequency interval between 1 kHz and 10 kHz. This frequency interval means a frequency of medium frequency type. An example of a sinusoidal medium frequency voltage is shown in FIG. 2A. This frequency interval has a particularly wasting effect and is involved in muscle recovery. The first voltage generation module 100 includes a first terminal 12 and a second terminal 13. This first voltage generation module 100 is used for electrical stimulation applications and / or for in-depth muscle strengthening.

[0042] The first voltage generation module 100 advantageously generates a medium frequency sinusoidal current between 1 kHz and 10 kHz with preferentially low frequency amplitude modulation to stimulate comfortable deep muscle strengthening.

[0043] According to a preferred embodiment, the device, more precisely a first voltage generation module 100 , comprises a first transformer 11 associated to a first voltage generator 10 .

[0044] Advantageously, the first voltage generating module 100 comprises a first modulator for generating a third voltage modulating the first voltage. The third voltage is preferably a sinusoidal voltage. The first modulator can, for example, perform modulation by pulse width modulation (PWM).

[0045] The first modulator is capable of modulating the first frequency with a third frequency, the third frequency being strictly lower than the first frequency. The third frequency is preferentially in a third frequency interval which is smaller than the first frequency interval. The third frequency interval is preferentially ≧1 Hz and ≦150 Hz. This frequency interval means a frequency of the low frequency type.

[0046] According to one possibility, the third frequency is variable during operation. During the operation of the first voltage generating module 100, the third frequency can be varied, in particular to vary the modulation of the first frequency according to the user's requirements. An example of a low-frequency unitary signal is shown in FIG. 2B. This signal is shown on the Y-axis with a multiplication factor of 1 to 1.5. Advantageously, a sine wave is created directly from the first division. Pulse width modulation makes it possible to have a sine wave that can be amplitude modulated at low frequencies, for example of the order of 1 Hz to 150 Hz. The result is a sinusoidal voltage with a frequency of 1 kHz to 10 kHz, amplitude modulated at frequencies of 1 Hz to 150 Hz. An example of such a modulation is shown in FIG. 2C. In electrical stimulation, tetany of the excited muscles can be avoided by modulation of the stimulation current.

[0047] The first voltage generation module 100 allows for deep stimulation of comfortable muscle contractions.

[0048] The device 1 comprises a second voltage generating module 200 with a second voltage generator 20. The second voltage generator 20 generates a second voltage with a second frequency. Advantageously, the second voltage is a sinusoidal voltage. The second frequency is strictly higher than the first frequency. Preferably, the second frequency is in a second frequency interval strictly greater than the first frequency interval. Preferably, the second interval is between 100 kHz and 10 MHz, more precisely between 100 kHz and 1.2 MHz. This frequency interval means a frequency of high frequency type. An example of high frequency is shown in FIG. 3A. The second voltage generating module 200 comprises a third terminal 22 and a fourth terminal 23. This second voltage generating module 200 is used to have a diathermal effect. A resultant current of this kind can advantageously cause an acceleration of the metabolism of the living tissues through which it passes.

[0049] The second voltage generating module 200 delivers a sinusoidal high frequency current, advantageously between 10 kHz and 10 MHz, more precisely between 100 kHz and 10 MHz, more particularly between 100 kHz and 1.2 MHz, preferentially with low frequency pulses, the high frequency producing a selective diathermic effect and finally the low frequency producing an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

[0050] Advantageously, the second voltage generation module 200 includes a command 38 for starting the generator at a second frequency. The start command 38 controls the output of the generator at the second frequency by a fourth pulse frequency. The fourth frequency is strictly lower than the second frequency. The fourth frequency is in a fourth frequency interval that is preferentially lower than the second frequency interval. The fourth frequency interval is preferentially ≧1 Hz and ≦150 Hz. This frequency interval means a low-frequency type frequency. An example of a pulse low frequency is shown in FIG. 3B. The fourth frequency is also called a square frequency.

[0051] The output voltage of the second voltage generating module 200 is a high-frequency sinusoidal voltage generated by a low-frequency pulse. An example of this type of modulation is shown in Figure 3C.

[0052] According to a preferred embodiment, the device, more precisely the second voltage generation module 200 , comprises a second transformer 21 associated to the second voltage generator 20 .

[0053] Advantageously, the device comprises an output filter 24 preferentially associated with the second transformer 21. The output filter 24 allows filtering on the secondary side of the second transformer 21. The output filter 24 allows generating a sine wave. Advantageously, this filter comprises an LC circuit consisting of a coil (L) 26 and a capacitor (C) 25. Preferably, the output filter 24 comprises a resonant capacitor 27 for resonating at the operating frequency. The resonant capacitor 27 is arranged at the output of the coil 26 and the capacitor 25. Figure 4 shows an example of a modulation obtained at the output of the output filter 24 according to the electrical circuit shown in figure 1. According to this embodiment, the third terminal 22 and the fourth terminal 23 are arranged at the terminals of the output filter 24.

[0054] According to the invention, the device 1 comprises a transmission channel 4 and a reception channel 5. Advantageously, the first terminal 12 and the third terminal 22 are connected to the same transmission line 4, and the second terminal 13 and the fourth terminal 23 are connected to the same reception channel 5.

[0055] Preferably, the transmission line 4 is connected to an electrode, preferably an active electrode 2. The active electrode 2 can be capacitive and / or resistive.

[0056] Preferentially, the receiving channel 5 is intended to be connected to an electrode, preferentially an indifferent electrode 3. The indifferent electrode 3 may be fixed or movable.

[0057] The device according to the invention is for applying a voltage to the body of a user 30. Advantageously, an active electrode 2 is applied to the body of the user 30 to apply a current, while an indifferent electrode 3 is also applied to the body of the user 30 to receive the current provided by the active electrode 2 that has passed through a part of the body of the user 30.

[0058] According to an embodiment, the voltage generated by the first voltage generation module 100 is also emitted by pulses at a frequency equal to the fourth frequency generated by the second voltage generation module 200. For this purpose, the first voltage generation module 100 advantageously comprises a command 37 for emitting an output signal of the first voltage generation module 100 operating by pulses at the same frequency as the fourth frequency of the activation command 38 of the second voltage generation module 200.

[0059] The present invention makes it possible to combine these two voltage generators 10, 20 to supply a medium frequency sinusoidal current modulated at a low frequency with a high frequency sinusoidal current to a transmission line 4, as shown in FIG.

[0060] Thus, the present invention is characterized in that it combines, within a single transmission line 4, the advantages of electrical stimulation of muscle contraction using low-frequency current and the advantages of high-frequency generated diathermy using high-frequency current.

[0061] In order to mix the two currents in the same transmission line 4 without interfering with their quality, the invention generates a medium-frequency current, advantageously sinusoidal, for transmitting a low-frequency signal for electrical stimulation, and combines it with a high-frequency current, advantageously sinusoidal, preferably of the low-frequency pulse type, for diathermy. The invention advantageously generates a non-invasive current that stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms and promotes cell exchange. It provides an excellent rehabilitation effect by quickly restoring the functions of muscles and joints.

[0062] Possible applications are the relief of pain, the relief of mechanical tension, the stimulation of blood and lymphatic circulation, the thorough strengthening of muscles, and / or the promotion of the natural regeneration of damaged or injured tissue.

[0063] According to the present invention, the first voltage generating module 100 and the second voltage generating module 200 each generate a voltage simultaneously.

[0064] By simultaneously, it is meant that the first voltage generating module 100 generates a first voltage transmitted by the transmission line 4, and at least during a non-zero predetermined period of time, the second voltage generating module 200 generates a second voltage transmitted by the same transmission line 4. At least during this non-zero predetermined period of time, the active electrode 2 simultaneously supplies a first current and a second current, for example to the user 30.

[0065] The device comprises a control unit which controls the generation of a voltage by the first voltage generation module 100 and by the second voltage generation module 200. Advantageously, the control unit also controls the intensity of the generated current, the voltage, the inductance and / or the impedance of the device.

[0066] According to a preferred embodiment, the first transformer 11 has a first inductance and the second transformer 21 has a second inductance. The ratio of the first inductance to the second inductance is advantageously greater than or equal to 500, preferentially greater than or equal to 1000. By way of example, the first transformer 11 has a maximum of 590 mH and the second transformer 21 has a minimum of 385 μH.

[0067] The impedance of the second voltage generating module is negligible compared to the impedance of the user 30. Therefore, the main path of the current is through the user 30.

[0068] When the second voltage generator 20 is working, due to the inductance, the first transformer 11 does not modify the sinusoidal voltage of the second transformer 21, and there is no frequency interference.

[0069] The invention also relates to a method for operating the device according to the invention, comprising the following operating steps: - step a: generating a first voltage having a first frequency in a first frequency interval by a first voltage generating module 100; - step b: generating, by the second voltage generating module 200, a second voltage having a second frequency higher than the first frequency and in a second frequency interval higher than the first frequency interval.

[0070] In this method, steps a and b are performed simultaneously.

[0071] In Fig. 1, the electric circuit of the device 1 according to the invention comprises a first voltage generation module 100 and a second voltage generation module 200. The first voltage generation module 100 comprises a first voltage generator 10 and a first transformer 11. The first voltage generator 10 comprises a half-bridge or full-bridge topology for generating a signal. The first voltage generator 10 is advantageously a medium-frequency voltage generator controlled by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). The first voltage generation module 100 comprises a first terminal 12 and a second terminal 13.

[0072] The first transformer 11 is connected to the terminals of the first voltage generator 10. In a non-limiting embodiment, the first transformer 11 comprises a first primary circuit 28, advantageously including a mid-frequency filter with PWM, and a first secondary circuit 29. A mid-frequency filter below 10 kHz allows the generation of a sine wave from a square signal, the use of PWM allows optimized filtering. The first terminal 12 and the second terminal 13 are arranged in the secondary circuit 29 of the first transformer 11.

[0073] The second voltage generating module 200 includes a second voltage generator 20 and a second transformer 21. The second voltage generator 20 includes a half-bridge or full-bridge topology for generating a square wave signal. The second voltage generating module 200 includes a third terminal 22 and a fourth terminal 23.

[0074] The second transformer 21 is connected to the terminals of the second voltage generator 20. In a non-limiting embodiment, the second transformer 21 comprises a second primary circuit 31 and a second secondary circuit 32. Preferentially, as shown here, the device comprises an output filter 24 connected to the secondary terminals of the second transformer 21. The output filter 24 comprises a coil 26, a resistor 25 and a resonant capacitor 27. A third terminal 22 and a fourth terminal 23 are arranged on the output filter 24. The output filter is a high-frequency filter. A high-frequency filter of 100 kHz or more makes it possible to generate a sine wave from a rectangular signal. Advantageously, the inclusion of the coil 26-resistor 25-resonant capacitor 27 makes it possible to improve the shape of the sine wave by preferential resonance at the frequency f0. As a preferred example, f0 is set to 400 kHz.

[0075] The first terminal 12 and the third terminal 22 are connected to the transmit channel 4. The second terminal 13 and the fourth terminal 23 are connected to the receive channel 5.

[0076] Preferably, as shown, the transmit channel 4 is connected to at least one active electrode 2, while the receive channel 5 is connected to at least one indifferent electrode 3. The electrodes 2, 3 are applied to a user 30.

[0077] The first voltage generator 10 and the second voltage generator 20 are insulated from each other.

[0078] 2A-2C show the voltages generated by the first voltage generating module 100. FIG.

[0079] 2A shows a voltage at a first frequency, here 4 kHz, in a first frequency interval corresponding to a medium frequency. The voltage is a sinusoidal voltage, curve 35.

[0080] 2B shows a signal modulating at a second frequency in a third frequency interval corresponding to a low frequency, here 50 kHz. The signal is a sinusoidal signal, curve 36.

[0081] In this way, the first voltage generation module 100 generates a sinusoidal voltage as shown in Fig. 2C, with a medium frequency of 4 kHz (curve 35) and amplitude modulated at 150% by a low frequency (curve 36). The modulation is performed at 100% and then at 50% by the low frequency modulation frequency.

[0082] 3A-3C show the voltages generated by the second voltage generating module 200. FIG.

[0083] 3A shows a voltage at a second frequency in a second frequency interval corresponding to a higher frequency, here 500 kHz. The voltage is a sinusoidal voltage, curve 33.

[0084] 3B shows a signal modulating at a fourth frequency in a fourth frequency interval corresponding to a low frequency, here 25 kHz, the signal being a rectangular signal and the modulating signal being a pulse (curve 34).

[0085] In this way, the second voltage generating module 200 generates a sine wave voltage with a high frequency of 500 kHz modulated by a low frequency of a square shape, as shown in Fig. 3C. The details of the sine wave voltage shown in Fig. 3A are shown in the squares of Fig. 3C. Thus, we can see a high frequency voltage modulated by a low frequency pulse.

[0086] FIG. 4 shows the sinusoidal voltage at the output of the transmission line 4 when two voltages are applied simultaneously. The resulting sinusoidal voltage is the sum of the first voltage generated by the first voltage generating module 100 and the second voltage generated by the second voltage generating module 200. The output signal of the transmission line 4 is a sinusoidal voltage with a medium frequency modulated by a high frequency and a low frequency. Here, the first voltage generated by the first voltage generating module 100 is also modulated by the pulsed low frequency of the second voltage generating module 200. For this, as mentioned above, the device comprises a command 37 for the transmission of a transmission voltage, configured to transmit the voltage of the first generating module at a fourth frequency. Here, therefore, on the pulsed low frequency (curve 34), we find a high frequency (curve 33) and a medium frequency (35) modulated by the low frequency (curve 36) with an amplitude greater than 100%.

[0087] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, but includes all embodiments covered by this application. [Explanation of symbols]
