Existing hair care compositions struggle to maintain stability and effectiveness of sebum inhibitory active agents like capryloylglycine and sarcosine in aqueous leave-on formulations, particularly in high water content, which affects their sensory and sebum control effects on the scalp and hair.
A hair care composition incorporating nonionic surfactants with HLB values of 12-17, specifically aliphatic alcohol ethoxylates or polyethoxylated monoesters, combined with sebum inhibitor active agents such as capryloylglycine, sarcosine, or their mixtures, in a leave-on formulation with a viscosity of less than 2000 cps, ensuring stability and efficacy.
The composition achieves enhanced stability and sensory benefits, providing effective sebum control and maintaining a clean, refreshing feel on the hair and scalp for an extended period.

Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to hair care compositions, preferably leave-on compositions. In particular, the present invention relates to hair care compositions comprising a sebum-inhibiting active selected from capryloyl glycine, sarcosine, or mixtures thereof. [Background technology]
[0002] Hair care compositions are formulated for a specific purpose, such as cleansing or conditioning benefits, or a combination of the two. Preferred hair care compositions provide more than simple cleansing and conditioning benefits.
[0003] The scalp and hair become soiled due to contact with the surrounding environment and by sebum secreted from the hair follicles. The accumulation of sebum and environmental dirt causes the hair to become dirty, greasy and unattractive. To remedy these effects, hair needs to be shampooed regularly. Although sebum is naturally present on the scalp, it is often considered a negative beauty and health indicator in association with oily hair and may even be linked to more serious conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis.
[0004] Sarcosine is a natural amino acid and a methylated derivative of the essential amino acid glycine found in the body. It is also a precursor of the glycine amino acid and is therefore believed to be involved in the construction of skin-building macromolecules such as collagen and elastin. In the body, sarcosine can be obtained from the diet (egg yolk, legumes) or from the metabolism of glycine. It has been studied and found to have the ability to reduce the conversion of testosterone to DHT by inhibiting 5α-reductase 1 gene expression, thereby reducing the overproduction of sebum in the scalp.
[0005] Capryloyl glycine is an amide of glycine (an amino acid) and caprylic acid (a fatty acid containing 8 carbon atoms in the chain). It can provide protection and conditioning to the skin by repairing the "acid barrier". It has also been shown to reduce excess sebum activity as modeled by 5α-reductase assessment. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] The present inventors have unexpectedly discovered that a sebum-inhibiting active selected from capryloyl glycine, sarcosine, or mixtures thereof, can be stabilized with certain nonionic surfactants in aqueous leave-on formulations containing large amounts of water, thereby providing desirable sensory and sebum-inhibiting benefits to the scalp and / or hair.
[0007] US2004096528A1 (Daniel A. Miser et al.) discloses a creamy skin cleanser containing 2% by weight polysorbate 20, 1% by weight capryloyl glycine, and 63% by weight water.
[0008] WO2013102248A2 (Johnson & Johnson) discloses a sunscreen composition comprising a mixture containing 0.5% by weight of steareth-21 and polysorbate-20, 0.5% by weight of capryloyl glycine, sarcosine and 58% water (Examples 2 and 3). D2 discloses that the viscosity of the compositions of Examples 2 and 3 is higher than 5000 cps.
[0009] XP055974989 discloses an anti-dandruff scalp lotion. It contains polysorbate 20, sarcosine, capryloyl glycine, and water. However, the amounts of these ingredients are not disclosed.
[0010] XP055974973 discloses an oil-controlling treatment that contains oleth-20, capryloyl glycine and water, however the amounts of these ingredients are not disclosed. [Means for solving the problem]

[0012] In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a non-therapeutic method of treating hair or scalp comprising applying to the scalp or hair a composition of the first aspect.
[0013] In a third aspect, the present invention relates to a non-therapeutic method of providing a sebum control benefit comprising applying a composition of the first aspect to the hair or scalp surface of an individual.
