[0020] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, a specimen collection container according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0021] The specimen collecting container of the present invention comprises a specimen containing body 1, a preservation liquid containing body 2, and an inner stopper body 3, as shown in Figs.
[0022] The specimen containing body 1 has a substantially cylindrical bottomed tube made of synthetic resin as the inside thereof, which serves as a specimen containing section 11, and has an external thread 12 formed on the outer circumferential surface of the upper end portion thereof, into which an internal thread 28 formed on the inner circumferential surface of an outer tube 23 of a preservation solution containing body 2, which will be described later, is screwed in. Furthermore, in the specimen containing body 1 shown in Figures 1 to 6, a specimen collecting member 4, which will be described later, is detachably attached.
[0023] The storage liquid container 2 has an inner tube 21, which is a generally cylindrical tube with a top, made of synthetic resin, and an outer tube 23 on the outside of the lower part of the inner tube 21 via a step 22. The upper part of the outer tube 23 is a handle 24, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the lower end of the inner tube 21, and the inner stopper 3 seals the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2. The handle 24 has a number of radially extending outward flanges 24a formed on the outer circumferential surface of the inner tube 21 above the outer tube 23, and the outward flanges 24a can be grasped with the fingers to make it easy to hold. Furthermore, the inner tube 21 contains the storage liquid L, and a liquid inlet 25 is formed below the insertion surface with the inner stopper 3. The liquid inlet 25 can be a communicating port such as a round hole, or a notched port in which the lower end of the inner tube 21 is intermittently notched as shown in the figure. 7 to 11 and 12 to 16, the preservation solution container 2 has a concave cylinder 26 suspended from the center of the top surface of the inner cylinder 21, and a cylindrical insert 27 having a vertical groove 27a formed on its side periphery protrudes from the peripheral portion of the bottom surface of the concave cylinder 26. Furthermore, an internal thread 28 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder 23 so as to be screwed into the external thread 12 of the specimen container 1. As shown in Figs. 2b and 8b, the internal thread 28 is divided into a plurality of parts in the axial direction, so that when the internal thread 28 is screwed into the external thread 12 of the specimen container 1, it is easy to engage with the external thread 12 and to screw in smoothly.
[0024] The inner plug 3 is made of synthetic resin and has a short, generally cylindrical shape, with an outward flange 31 provided on the outer peripheral surface of the upper end, and a breakable bottom 32 with a thin-walled portion around the periphery, and an insertion portion 33 to be inserted into the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2 is protruded from the upper surface of the bottom 32. In the insertion portion 33 shown in Figures 1 to 6, a plurality of blades 34 crossed vertically form a liquid flow space 35 between each of the blades 34, and the outer ends 34a of the blades 34 are inserted into the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2 so as to contact the lower inner peripheral surface of the inner tube 21 of the storage liquid container 2, while in the insertion portion 33 shown in Figures 7 to 11 and Figures 12 to 16, an insertion tube 36 standing up from the center of the bottom 32 is inserted into the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the storage liquid container 2 so as to contact the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical insert 27 of the storage liquid container 2. Furthermore, in the inner plug 3 shown in Figs. 7 to 11 and 12 to 16, a specimen collecting member 4, which will be described later, is attached.
[0025] When the preservation liquid container 2 is screwed partway into the specimen container 1, the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1, so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the specimen container 1 to seal the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen container 1. When the preservation liquid container 2 is screwed all the way into the specimen container 1, the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3 is pressed by the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2 and is broken, so that the preservation liquid L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2 flows into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 through the liquid outlet 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21.
[0026] The specimen collecting member 4 is funnel-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 1 to 6, spoon-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 7 to 11, and swab-shaped in the ones shown in Figs. 12 to 16. When the specimen collecting member 4 is funnel-shaped, the upper end is an opening 4a, and a clamping part 41 is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the lower part, so that it is clamped and locked to the upper end of the specimen containing body 1. Therefore, the specimen collecting member 4 can be removed from the specimen containing body 1 by pulling it upward. When the specimen collecting member 4 is spoon-shaped, a scooping part 42 is formed at the lower part, a contact part 43 is interposed in the middle part, and a rod-shaped insertion part 44 is formed at the upper part. The insertion part 44 is inserted into the insertion tube 36 of the bottom part 32 of the inner plug 3, and the contact part 43 is brought into contact with the bottom part 32, and the insertion part 44 is inserted into the bottom part 32 of the inner plug 3. When the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a cotton swab, a cotton ball 45 is attached to the lower part, a rod-shaped insertion part 44 is formed at the upper part via a contact part 43 in the middle part, and this insertion part 44 is inserted into the insertion tube 36 and inserted into the bottom part 32 of the inner plug 3 in the same manner as when the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a spoon. When the specimen collecting member 4 is shaped like a cotton swab, in order to make it easier to collect a specimen, it is preferable to previously store physiological saline P or the like in the storage part 11 of the specimen storage body 1 and to soak the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collecting member 4 in this physiological saline P to moisten the cotton ball 45.
[0027] The specimen is preferably saliva or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is funnel-shaped, preferably stool or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is spoon-shaped, and preferably skin-resident bacteria or the like when the specimen collection member 4 is swab-shaped, but various specimens such as sputum, ear, nose and throat swabs, blood, and urine can also be used.
[0028] The preservation solution L can be a wide variety of solutions, such as a solution for virus inactivation, RNA extraction, and RNA stably preserving, or a solution for DNA extraction and DNA stably preserving, or a solution for sterilizing or inactivating the target specimen and stably preserving the measured substance.
[0029] As shown in Figure 1, the specimen collection container of the present invention can be stored or shipped by separating the specimen containing body 1 and the preservation liquid containing body 2, clamping the clamping portion 41 of the specimen collection member 4 to the upper end of the specimen containing body 1 and engaging it, placing the inner peripheral surface of the inner stopper body 3 in contact with the lower outer peripheral surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid containing body 2, and inserting the inner stopper body 3 into the inner tube 21 so that the outer end 34a of the blade 34 of the insertion portion 33 of the inner stopper body 3 is in contact with the lower inner peripheral surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid containing body 2.
[0030] Furthermore, as shown in Figure 7, the specimen collection container of the present invention can be stored or shipped by separating the specimen containing body 1 and the preservation liquid containing body 2, leaving the specimen containing body 1 in its original state, and inserting the inner stopper body 3 into the inner tube 21 so that the inner peripheral surface of the lower outer peripheral surface of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid containing body 2 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the tubular insert body 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid containing body 2, the outer peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper body 3 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper body 3, and further so that the outer peripheral surface of the insertion portion 44 of the specimen collection member 4 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper body 3.
[0031] As shown in FIG. 12, the specimen collection container of the present invention is in a state in which the inner peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 is in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the lower part of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, the outer peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the tubular insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation liquid container 2, and further the outer peripheral surface of the insertion portion 44 of the specimen collection member 4 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3, with the inner thread 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation liquid container 2 being screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collection member 4 being immersed in the physiological saline solution P contained in the storage portion 11 of the specimen container 1, and the specimen container 1 and the preservation liquid container 2 are integrated and wrapped or packaged for storage or shipping.
[0032] The specimen collection container of the present invention, which is constructed as described above, is used as follows.
[0033] 1 to 6, as shown in Fig. 3, saliva S collected from the opening 4a of the specimen collecting member 4 is poured into the storage section 11 of the specimen containing body 1, and then the specimen collecting member 4 is pulled out and removed from the specimen containing body 1. Then, as shown in Fig. 4, the inner thread 28 of the outer cylinder 23 of the preservation solution containing body 2 is screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen containing body 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen containing body 1 so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the specimen containing body 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen containing body 1.
[0034] Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation solution container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2 descends, as shown in Figure 5, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.
[0035] Then, the preservation solution L contained in the inner cylinder 21 of the preservation solution container 2 flows from the flow space 35 of the inner stopper 3 through the flow port 25 formed in the lower part of the inner cylinder 21 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 and mixes with the saliva S contained in the container section 11. Since the outer end 34a of the blade 34 of the insertion part 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the lower part of the inner cylinder 21 of the preservation solution container 2, the inner stopper 3 will not fall off into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.
[0036] Furthermore, in the specimen collecting container of the present invention shown in Figures 7 to 11, after stool is scooped up with the scooping portion 42 of the specimen collecting member 4, as shown in Figure 9, the specimen collecting member 4 is accommodated in the accommodation portion 11 of the specimen containing body 1, the inner thread 28 of the outer tube 23 of the preservation solution containing body 2 is screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen containing body 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen containing body 1 so that the outer peripheral surface of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the specimen containing body 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen containing body 1.
[0037] Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation solution container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2 descends, as shown in Figure 10, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.
[0038] Then, the preservation solution L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2 flows into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 through the liquid outlet 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21, and washes away the stool scooped by the scooping part 42 of the specimen collecting member 4 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1. Since the outer peripheral surface of the insertion part 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the tubular insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collecting member 4 inserted in the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 will not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.
[0039] 12 to 16, the inner thread 28 of the preservation solution container 2, which is screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, is loosened, and the preservation solution container 2 is removed from the specimen container 1 as shown in FIG. 13, and the physiological saline solution P in the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 is discarded. Then, after collecting normal skin bacteria with the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collecting member 4, the specimen collecting member 4 is contained in the container section 11 of the specimen container 1 as shown in FIG. 14. Furthermore, the inner thread 28 of the preservation solution container 2 is screwed partway into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, and the inner stopper 3 is inserted into the upper end of the specimen container 1, so that the outer circumferential surface of the inner stopper 21 comes into contact with the inner circumferential surface of the specimen container 1 and the outward flange 31 of the inner stopper 3 is engaged with the upper end of the specimen container 1.
[0040] Next, when the inner thread 28 of the preservation solution container 2 is screwed all the way into the outer thread 12 of the specimen container 1, the lower end of the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2 descends, as shown in Figure 15, and this lower end presses against the bottom 32 of the inner stopper 3, causing it to break.
[0041] Then, the preservation solution L contained in the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2 flows through the liquid outlet 25 formed in the lower part of the inner tube 21 into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1, washing away the normal skin bacteria adhering to the cotton ball 45 of the specimen collecting member 4 into the specimen container 1. Since the outer peripheral surface of the insertion section 33 of the inner stopper 3 contacts the inner peripheral surface of the tubular insert 27 of the inner tube 21 of the preservation solution container 2, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collecting member 4 inserted in the insertion tube 36 of the inner stopper 3 will not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1.
[0042] The specimen collection container of the present invention thus constructed is stored or transported in an airtight state by screwing the inner threads 28 of the outer cylinder 23 of the preservation solution container 2 all the way into the outer threads 12 of the specimen container 1, but in the one shown in Figures 1 to 6, the inner stopper 3 does not fall out into the container section 11 of the specimen container 1. Therefore, even when a testing facility or the like loosens the inner threads 28 of the outer cylinder 23 of the preservation solution container 2 screwed into the outer threads 12 of the specimen container 1 as shown in Figure 6, removes the preservation solution container 2 from the specimen container 1, and takes out the mixture M of saliva S and preservation solution L from the container section 11 of the container 1 with a syringe or the like and provides it for testing, the inner stopper 3 does not get in the way.
[0043] 7 to 11 and 12 to 16, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collecting member 4 do not fall off into the storage section 11 of the specimen containing body 1. Therefore, even when, at a testing facility or the like, the inner threads 28 of the outer cylinder 23 of the preservation solution containing body 2 screwed into the outer threads 12 of the specimen containing body 1 are loosened as shown in Figs. 11 and 16 to remove the preservation solution containing body 2 from the specimen containing body 1, and the mixture M of the feces, normal skin bacteria and the respective preservation solutions L in the storage section 11 of the containing body 1 is taken out with a syringe or the like and used for testing, the inner stopper 3 and the specimen collecting member 4 do not get in the way.
[0044] The specimen collection container of the present invention is constructed as described above, and therefore, as mentioned above, has a simple structure and is easy to assemble, making it convenient to store and transport, and will not become contaminated by dust, germs, etc. during storage or transport.
[0045] Furthermore, the specimen collection container of the present invention allows the subject to collect the specimen himself, and the collected specimen can be stored and sent to an analytical institution without touching any parts to which the collected specimen is attached, making it highly safe and preventing secondary infection.
