Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a cutting support with suction in an automatic cutting machine for sheet material, in particular textile material, using an oscillating blade penetrating into the cutting support, and more precisely to a modular element intended to form such a cutting support. [Background technology]
[0002] The field of application of the invention is that of the automatic cutting of material sheets, in particular stacks or pads of fibrous material, using an oscillating blade penetrating into a cutting support with suction.
[0003] Typically, a vibrating blade cutter includes, among other things, a cutter conveyor that drives the stack of sheets during the cutting operation and is housed within a casing within which a high vacuum is established to secure the sheets of material being cut during the cutting operation.
[0004] In this type of machine, the cutting conveyor also serves as a penetrating cutting support for the vibrating blade. Indeed, it is well known to allow the blade to penetrate the cutting support so that during the cutting operation, the blade can not only pass completely through the material to be cut, but also extend downwards beyond the support surface into the material bed that provides such a surface.
[0005] To do this, the cutting support generally consists of an assembly of blocks driven by a belt. More precisely, each block comprises a number of bristles mounted in several parallel rows on a bearing plate, each bristles having a head forming a support for the sheet material to be cut. To allow the passage of suction air, transverse channels are made through the bearing plate. These blocks thus make it possible to support the material to be cut under suction while being able to penetrate it with the cutting blades.
[0006] The cutting support block is most often obtained by molding a plastic material. Molding makes it possible to obtain a block in one piece with the assembly of the bearing plate and its bristles. To ensure the release of such parts, the bristles, which are generally conical or cylindrical, must have a head diameter smaller than the diameter of the base. Reference may be made in particular to US Pat. No. 4,205,835, which describes one embodiment of such a cutting support block.
[0007] However, because the cutting blade has a beveled tip, interference between the blade and the bristles may be promoted by a combination of the conical shape of the bristles and their flexibility, leading to partial or complete shearing of the bristles. The location of the top of this cut is directly related to the conical shape of the bristles and the blade, or the position of the blade relative to the generatrix of the bristles it encounters.
[0008] Furthermore, the need to have bristles whose base has a larger diameter than the head has the disadvantage of limiting the space on the bearing plate for creating channels for the passage of suction air, which reduces the suction capacity of the cutting support. Summary of the Invention
[0009] SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT EMBODIMENT It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a cutting support which does not have the above-mentioned drawbacks.
[0010] According to the invention, this object is achieved by a modular cutting support element with suction in a machine for automatic cutting of sheet material by blades, comprising a plurality of bristles arranged in the same single line, at least some of the bristles each having a base firmly connected to a bearing plate intended to be mounted on the support, a head opposite the base on which the sheet material to be cut is intended to be placed, and a stem connecting the head to the base, the maximum cross-section of which is strictly contained in the maximum cross-section of the head, the bearing plate including on each of its sides a plurality of lateral channels for the passage of suction air providing communication between the upper surface of the bearing plate from which the bristles extend and the inner surface opposite the upper surface.
[0011] Here, "cross section" shall mean a cross section perpendicular to the axis of the bristles. Moreover, "strictly contained" here means that all points of the maximum cross section of the stem of each bristle are contained (or encompassed) in the maximum cross section of the head of the bristle, but at least one point of the maximum cross section of the head is not contained in the maximum cross section of the stem. For example, if the head and stem of a bristle each have a circular cross section, this condition is equivalent to the cross section of the head having a diameter strictly greater than the diameter of the stem.
[0012] The invention is characterized in that it allows the manufacture of cutting supports by attaching a number of modular elements to at least one support. Since each modular element comprises bristles arranged in the same single line, it is possible to provide at least some of the bristles with a head having a cross section that surrounds the cross section of the stem, while retaining the ability to manufacture these modular elements by molding in a single part with the bearing plate and their bristles. Such a geometric shape of the bristles has the advantage of limiting the interaction between the tip of the cutting blade and the tangential bristles.
[0013] Furthermore, the support surface provided by these modular elements is better due to the fact that the head of the bristles is larger than the cross section of the stem, and the smaller cross section of the stem and base of the bristles makes it easier to increase the diameter of the lateral channels for the passage of the suction air and therefore to improve the porosity of the bearing plate to air in order to maintain maximum suction and limit the pressure drop.
[0014] Another advantage associated with the production of a cutting support by attaching a plurality of modular elements according to the invention is the possibility to offer cutting supports differentiated by cutting blades, looms etc.
[0015] The bearing plate preferably further comprises at least one longitudinal channel on each of its sides, extending between the longitudinal ends of the bearing plate and communicating with the transverse channels, for uniformly distributing the suction air within said transverse channels, which allows the suction of the modular elements to be more uniform across the surface of the bearing plate.
[0016] Likewise, the bearing plate preferably further includes at least one assembly member on each of its sides for mechanical assembly with another modular element.
[0017] In this case, each mechanical assembly member may include at least one lug protruding relative to a side of the bearing plate and intended to couple within a corresponding recess of an assembly member of an adjacent modular element, and a recess recessed relative to the side of the bearing plate and intended to receive a corresponding lug of an assembly member of an adjacent modular element by coupling.
[0018] At least some of the bristles may include heads having a frusto-conical shape and stems having a cylindrical shape, in which case the heads of the bristles may have a frusto-conical shape with an inner circular cross-section that is larger than the outer circular cross-section, or alternatively, the heads of the bristles may have an inverted frusto-conical shape with an outer circular cross-section that is larger than the inner circular cross-section.
[0019] Alternatively, at least some of the bristles may have a stem and a head with a polygonal cross-section (eg, a stem with a hexagonal cross-section and a head with an octagonal cross-section).
[0020] The bearing plate may further include mountings at each longitudinal end for assembling the modular element on the support, and two fingers projecting inwards and acting as centering elements on the support.
[0021] The transverse channel may have a semicircular cross-section so as to form a cylindrical transverse passage when another modular element is attached to said element.
[0022] The bristles of the same modular element may be arranged in a straight line forming a single row of bristles, or alternatively, the bristles may be arranged in a dashed line forming two parallel rows of bristles.
[0023] The modular element may include at least two bristles, each with a head having a different shape.
[0024] Another object of the invention is a cutting support with suction for a machine for the automatic cutting of sheet material, comprising a plurality of modular elements mounted on at least one support as described above.
[0025] The modular elements can be attached to the support such that a regular alignment of the bristles is obtained. Alternatively, the modular elements can be attached to the support such that the bristles are staggered. In another alternative, some modular elements are attached to the support such that a regular alignment of the bristles is obtained and some other modular elements are attached to the same support such that a staggered alignment of the bristles is obtained.
[0026] The distance between two adjacent bristles is preferably greater than the maximum dimension of the cross section of the stem of the bristles, which prevents any broken bristles emerging from the bottom of the block from spreading to the surrounding bristles. [0028] The conveyor of a vibrating blade cutter can drive the material to be cut during the cutting operation. The upper part of the conveyor acts as the cutting support, and the lower part is usually housed in a casing within which a high vacuum is established to hold the material to be cut during the cutting operation.
[0029] The cutting support itself typically consists of an assembly of blocks mounted on the drive belt, such as the cutting support block 2 shown in FIG.
[0030] The cutting support block 2 is composed of an assembly of a number of modular elements 4 (for example eleven in number in the embodiment shown by FIG. 1), which are assembled by connecting their respective sides together as described below.
[0031] As shown more precisely in Figures 2 and 3, each modular element 4 according to the invention comprises a plurality of bristles 6 aligned along the same single row of bristles.
[0032] Each of these bristles 6 has a base 8 rigidly connected to a bearing plate 10 common to the assembly of bristles, a head 12 opposite the base and intended to function as a cutting support, and a stem 9 connecting the base to the head.
[0033] Furthermore, each bristle 6 has the particular property of having a head 12 whose maximum cross section (in other words the maximum cross section generated perpendicular to the main axis of the bristle) surrounds the maximum cross section of its stem 9. In other words, the maximum cross section of the head is strictly larger than (i.e. surrounds by being larger than) the maximum cross section of the stem 9.
[0034] For example, as shown in FIG. 4, if the head 12 and stem 9 of a bristle each have a circular cross section, the maximum cross section of the head is equal to the maximum diameter of the cross section of the stem. d Diameter strictly greater than D has.
[0035] Also, in this embodiment, the head 12 of each bristle has an inverted frusto-conical shape with an outer circular cross-section that is larger than the inner circular cross-section (i.e., the larger base of the frusto-conical B are arranged towards the outside of the modular elements and have a small base of a truncated cone. b facing inwards).
[0036] Of course, the invention is not limited to these particular geometric shapes for the bristles, their heads and their bases: for example, it is conceivable for the base to have a truncated cone or polygonal-based pyramidal shape and for the head to have a cross section other than circular (square, hexagonal, etc.).
[0037] In order to be able to mechanically assemble several modular elements 4 together, the bearing plate 10 of each of them can include on each of its two sides 10a, 10b at least one member 13 for mechanical assembly with another modular element.
[0038] For example, each of the sides 10a, 10b of the bearing plate of the modular element comprises four spaced apart mechanical assembly members, namely an end assembly member 13a at each of its two longitudinal ends 10c, 10d and two central assembly members 13b arranged between its two longitudinal ends.
[0039] Again as a non-limiting example, the assembly members 13 on the two sides of the modular element may be aligned facing each other.
[0040] As shown more precisely in the example of FIG. 3, the mechanical assembly members 13 each include at least one lug 14 protruding relative to a side surface of the bearing plate and a recess 16 recessed relative to the side surface of the bearing plate, the lug and the recess being arranged, for example, side by side.
[0041] During mechanical assembly of two modular elements, the lugs 14 of the mechanical assembly members of one modular element interlock inside the recesses 16 of the mechanical assembly members of the other modular element (and vice versa), with a retention force that can be provided, for example, by adhesive or clipping. By assembling several modular elements together, the continuity of the upper surface of the bearing plate can be ensured.
[0042] Alternatively, the modular elements can simply be placed on either side of a block or directly on a support and held together by an appropriate mechanism.
[0043] Again according to the invention, the two sides 10a, 10b of the bearing plate 10 of the modular element each include a number of lateral channels 18 providing communication between the outer surface of the bearing plate (i.e. the surface from which the bristles extend) and its inner surface (i.e. the surface opposite the outer surface).
[0044] These transverse channels 18, advantageously regularly distributed over the entire length of the bearing plate, give it porosity by allowing aspirated air to pass through it.
[0045] By way of example, each of the lateral channels 18 may have a semicircular cross-section, such that when the two modular elements are attached to one another they form a cylindrical lateral passageway.
[0046] Of course, it is also possible to envisage different shapes for the cross-section of the transverse channels (eg elliptical, polygonal or other shapes).
[0047] According to an advantageous configuration, the bearing plate further comprises, on each of its two sides 10a, 10b, a longitudinal channel 20 extending between the two longitudinal ends 10c, 10d and communicating with the transverse channels 18 for uniformly distributing the suction air therein.
[0048] By way of example, the longitudinal channel 20 may have a semicircular cross-section, such that when the two modular elements are attached to one another they form a cylindrical longitudinal passageway.
[0049] Of course, it is possible to envisage different shapes for the cross section of the longitudinal channels, for example elliptical, polygonal or other shapes.
[0050] According to another advantageous configuration, the bearing plate 10 of the modular element further comprises at least one attachment 22 in the form of a hook at each of its longitudinal ends 10c, 10d and two fingers 24 projecting inwardly into the bearing plate.
[0051] The hook-shaped attachments 22 make it possible to attach the cutting support block formed by the assembly of several modular elements to a support (not shown) intended to be mounted directly on the drive belt of a cutting conveyor. As for the fingers 24, they act as centering elements on the support.
[0052] Of course, other shapes of attachments for attaching the modular elements to the block or directly to the cutting support are also conceivable: for example, these attachments can be T-shaped.
[0053] In the embodiment of Figures 1 to 4, the modular elements are assembled in the same block so as to obtain a regular alignment of the bristles, in other words so that the bristles 6 in the same block 2 are aligned longitudinally and laterally.
[0054] In another embodiment illustrated by Figures 5-7, at least some of the modular elements of the same block may be assembled in such a way that a staggered alignment of the bristles is obtained.
[0055] Thus, in block 2' shown in Figures 5 and 6, modular elements 4-1 to 4-4 are assembled to obtain an ordered alignment of the bristles, while modular elements 4'-1 to 4'-4 are assembled to obtain a staggered alignment of the bristles. Of course, other configurations are possible by combining the two types of modular elements, if required.
[0056] FIG. 7 shows in detail and in perspective view a modular element 4' for obtaining a staggered assembly of bristles in the same support block.
[0057] Compared to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 4, this modular element 4 ′ differs by the shape of a transverse channel 18 ′ for the passage of suction air between the inner and outer faces of the bearing plate 10 .
[0058] Indeed, in this embodiment, the lateral channels 18' of a modular element 4' each have a cross-section in the shape of a double semicircle so as to form a bean-shaped lateral passage 26 when another modular element is assembled onto said element (see FIG. 6).
[0059] Additionally, longitudinal channels 20' extending between the longitudinal ends of the bearing plates communicate with the transverse channels 18' for uniformly distributing aspirated air within the transverse channels.
[0060] FIG. 8 shows a modular element bristle head according to an alternative embodiment, the bristle shape of which is equally applicable to the modular element embodiment of FIGS. 1-4 as well as that of the embodiment of FIGS.
[0061] In this alternative embodiment, the head 12' of the bristles 6' has a frusto-conical shape with an inner circular cross-section that is larger than the outer circular cross-section (i.e., the smaller base of the frusto-cone). b’ are arranged towards the outside of the modular elements, with a large base of a truncated cone B’ facing inwards).
[0062] In this alternative embodiment, the head 12' also has a maximum cross section (or in other words, a maximum base B’ (cross section at) is the maximum diameter of the circular cross section of the stem 9' of the bristles d’ Diameter strictly greater than D’ It has a circular cross section having
[0063] Furthermore, whatever the alternative embodiment of the bristles of the modular elements 4, 4', the stem 9, 9' of each bristles 6, 6' can have a cylindrical shape between its head 12, 12' and its base 8, 8'. Of course, other shapes are possible (e.g. having a square, polygonal, etc. cross section).
[0064] Thus, Figure 9 shows yet another alternative embodiment of a modular cutting support element 4'', where the stem 9'' of the bristles 6'' has a hexagonal cross-section between the head 12'' and the base 8''. Furthermore, in this alternative embodiment, the head 12'' has an octagonal cross-section.
[0065] Such a general shape of the bristles 6, 6', 6'' and the manufacture of modular elements comprising a single row of bristles makes it possible to manufacture the bristles by moulding in a single piece. In particular, such a configuration makes it possible to overcome the constraints on the bristle shape that were necessary for demolding.
[0066] Of course, other manufacturing methods for the modular elements are also possible, for example additive manufacturing or other industrial manufacturing processes.
[0067] It should be noted again that all bristles of the same modular element do not necessarily have a head whose cross section encompasses the maximum cross section of the stem: in fact, it is possible to envisage that only a portion of the bristles of the same modular element have such a configuration, the other bristles of the modular element having a head cross section identical to the cross section of their stems.
[0068] Furthermore, Figures 10A and 10B show two possible arrangements of the bristles 6, 6', 6'' of the same modular element 4, 4'.
[0069] In the exemplary arrangement of Figure 10A, the bristles of the same modular element are arranged on a straight line L1 to form a single row of bristles, in other words, the longitudinal axes of each of the bristles are all aligned on the same straight line L1.
[0070] Alternatively, in the embodiment of FIG. 10B, the bristles of the same modular element may be arranged along dashed line L2 (or in a sawtooth pattern) to form two parallel rows R1, R2 of bristles.
[0071] Whatever the alternative embodiment, it should be noted that the modular elements can be manufactured by single piece molding.
[0072] Likewise, as shown in figure 11, modular elements 4 according to the invention may not have mechanical assembly members, in which case modular elements of the same support are simply placed next to each other on the same support and held together by an appropriate mechanism.
[0073] FIG. 12 partially shows yet another alternative embodiment of a modular cutting support element 4''', in which the heads of the bristles have a different shape.
[0074] Thus, in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 12, the modular element includes alternating bristles 6a, each of which has a head 12a with a frusto-conical shape with its large base facing outward, and bristles 6b, each of which has a head 12b with a frusto-conical shape with its large base facing inward.
[0075] Such "head to tail" alternation of the bristle heads has the advantage of increasing the apparent density of the bristles, increasing fabric hold.
[0076] Of course, other possible configurations (with several different shaped bristle heads) can be envisaged, if desired. Likewise, this alternative embodiment can be combined with the other previously described alternative embodiments.
