[0010] [First embodiment] The first embodiment will be described below with reference to FIGS. A disc brake 10 according to a first embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3 is for use in a vehicle such as an automobile, and applies a braking force to the vehicle. Specifically, the disc brake 10 is for use in braking a four-wheeled vehicle. The disc brake 10 brakes the vehicle by stopping the rotation of a circular disc 11 that rotates together with a wheel (not shown). As shown in FIG. 1, the disc brake 10 includes a mounting member 12, a caliper 13, a cover member 14, a pair of boots 16, and a pair of friction pads 17 and 18.
[0011] Hereinafter, the central axis of the disc 11 is referred to as the disc axis. The direction in which the disc axis extends, i.e., the axial direction of the disc 11, is referred to as the disc axial direction. The radial direction of the disc 11 in the disc brake 10 is referred to as the disc radial direction. The circumferential direction of the disc 11 in the disc brake 10, i.e., the rotation direction, is referred to as the disc circumferential direction. The center side of the disc 11 in the disc radial direction is referred to as the disc radial inner side. The opposite side of the center of the disc 11 in the disc radial direction is referred to as the disc radial outer side. The center side in the disc circumferential direction is referred to as the disc circumferential inner side. The opposite side of the center in the disc circumferential direction is referred to as the disc circumferential outer side. The line that passes through the disc axis and the center in the disc circumferential direction of the disc brake 10 and runs along the disc radial direction is referred to as the radial reference line. This radial reference line is perpendicular to the disc axis. The outer side in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle to which the disc brake 10 is attached is referred to as the outer side. Moreover, the inside in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle to which the disc brake 10 is attached is referred to as the inner side.

[0016] As a result, the mounting member 12 is provided straddling the outer periphery of the disk 11 and fixed to a non-rotating portion of the vehicle. The inner beam portion and the pair of inner pad support portions 22 (not shown) are disposed on the inner side of the mounting member 12, which is the side that is attached to the non-rotating portion of the vehicle. The pair of outer pad support portions 23 and the outer beam portion 24 are disposed on the outer side of the mounting member 12, which is opposite to the inner side.
[0017] 2, pad guide portions 31 are formed on the opposing sides of the pair of outer pad support portions 23. These pad guide portions 31 are recessed in directions away from each other along the disk circumferential direction. Although not shown, similar pad guide portions are also formed on the pair of inner pad support portions 22.

[0042] The pair of arcuate edges 173 are mirror symmetrical and bulge in opposite directions. Each of the pair of arcuate edges 173 forms a part of the same circle. The protrusion 168 protrudes from the ends of the pair of arcuate edges 173 that are close to each other toward the outside in the radial direction of the pair of arcuate edges 173. The pair of linear edges 175 extend in the opposite direction from the protruding portion 168 from both ends of the pair of arcuate edges 173 opposite the protruding portion 168. The pair of linear edges 175 are mirror symmetrical, and the distance between them increases as they move away from the protruding portion 168. The pair of straight edge portions 176 extend in the opposite direction from the pair of arcuate edges 173 from both ends of the pair of straight edge portions 175 opposite the pair of arcuate edges 173. The pair of straight edge portions 176 are mirror symmetrical and parallel to each other. The straight edge portion 177 connects the ends of the pair of straight edge portions 176 opposite to the pair of straight edge portions 175 .
[0043] The plate portion 161 has an inner periphery 178 that is generally circular. The three guide pieces 165 are provided at the same number as the corners on the outer circumferential side of the triangular prism-shaped protrusion 124 of the cover main body member 111 shown in FIG. 5. As shown in FIG. 4, the three guide pieces 165 protrude inward in the radial direction from the inner peripheral edge 178 of the plate portion 161. The three guide pieces 165 have the same shape. All of the three guide pieces 165 are shaped to face the center of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge 178 when viewed in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The three guide pieces 165 are disposed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the inner peripheral edge 178. In other words, the three guide pieces 165 are disposed at 120° intervals on the inner peripheral edge 178.
[0044] One of the three guide pieces 165 is disposed on a line connecting the center of the circle formed by the inner circumferential edge portion 178 and the center in the longitudinal direction of the straight edge portion 177. This guide piece 165 is disposed at a position closest to the straight edge portion 177 on the inner circumferential edge portion 178. This guide piece 165 is disposed at a position furthest from the protruding portion 168. The remaining two of the three guide pieces 165 are disposed at positions equidistant from the straight edge portion 177. The guide plate portion 182 is flat and extends inward in the radial direction of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 from the edge portion on the protruding tip side of the adjacent inner root plate portion 181 while being inclined toward the plate portion 161 and the inner root plate portion 181. The guide plate portion 182 is inclined so that it is farther away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 as it extends from the adjacent inner root plate portion 181. The guide plate portion 182 is substantially triangular. The guide plate portion 182 does not have to be substantially triangular as long as it has a shape that is in point contact or line contact with the protruding portion 124. As shown in FIG. 4, the three guide plate portions 182 are all shaped such that their apexes face the center of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge portion 178. The apexes on the protruding tip side of each of the three guide plate portions 182 are disposed at the respective corner positions of an equilateral triangle centered on the center of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge portion 178. The positional relationship between the tops of the three guide plate portions 182 is equivalent to the positional relationship between the three corners on the outer periphery side of the triangular prism-shaped protruding portion 124 of the cover main body member 111.
[0046] The plate portion 161 is provided with three fixing pieces 166 , the same number as the side surface 151 of the protruding portion 124 . The fixing plate portion 186 is flat and extends inward in the radial direction of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 from the edge portion on the protruding tip side of the adjacent inner root plate portion 185 while inclining toward the plate portion 161 and the inner root plate portion 185. The fixing plate portion 186 is inclined so as to move away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 as it extends from the adjacent inner root plate portion 185. The fixing plate portion 186 extends on the same side as the guide plate portion 182 of the guide piece 165 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 with respect to the plate portion 161. The fixing plate portion 186 is substantially rectangular. A tip edge portion 187 of the fixing plate portion 186 on the opposite side to the adjacent inner root plate portion 185 is linear and parallel to the plate portion 161.
[0049] The three fixing pieces 166 extend to the same side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The three tip edge portions 187 of the three fixing pieces 166 are arranged to form each side of an equilateral triangle. The equilateral triangle formed by the three tip edge portions 187 is smaller than the equilateral triangle formed by the three side surfaces 151 of the protruding portion 124 by an amount corresponding to the tightening margin. In the plate portion 161 having the above-mentioned shape, the center of the circle formed by the inner circumferential edge portion 178 is the central portion. The three fixing pieces 166 and the three guide pieces 165 are provided on the central side of the plate portion 161.
[0050] As described above, the plate 112 is provided with a pair of inner folded locking pieces 162, a pair of inner folded locking pieces 163, and a pair of outer folded locking pieces 164. [0053] The pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 are arranged in a mirror symmetrical manner. The pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 are arranged in a mirror symmetrical manner. The pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 are arranged in a mirror symmetrical manner. 4, the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 are disposed on the straight edge 177 side of a line that passes through the center of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge 178 of the plate portion 161 and is parallel to the straight edge 177. The pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 are disposed on the protruding portion 168 side of a line that passes through the center of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge 178 of the plate portion 161 and is parallel to the straight edge 177. The pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 are disposed further on the protruding portion 168 side than the pair of outer folded locking pieces 164.
[0054] The pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 are disposed between the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 in the circumferential direction of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate portion 161. The distance between the pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 is equal to the distance between the pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163.
[0055] As shown in FIG. 6, each of the inner bent locking pieces 162 and 163 has an outer root plate portion 191, an intermediate plate portion 192, and a tip plate portion 193. The outer root plate portions 191 of the inner folded locking pieces 162, 163 are flat and disposed on the same plane as the plate portion 161. The outer root plate portions 191 of the inner folded locking pieces 162, 163 provided on the same arc-shaped edge portion 173 extend outward in the radial direction of the arc-shaped edge portion 173 from the arc-shaped edge portion 173.
[0056] The intermediate plate portions 192 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 are flat. Each intermediate plate portion 192 extends to one side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 from an edge portion on the extending tip side of the adjacent outer root plate portion 191. Each intermediate plate portion 192 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 provided on the same arc-shaped edge portion 173 is inclined so as to be positioned outward in the radial direction of the arc-shaped edge portion 173 as it moves away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. All of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 have a shape in which all of the intermediate plate portions 192 as a whole increase in diameter as they move away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The angle that the intermediate plate portion 192 makes with the adjacent outer root plate portion 191 is an obtuse angle that is greater than 90° and smaller than 135°.
[0057] The tip plate portions 193 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 are flat. Each tip plate portion 193 extends from an edge portion of the adjacent intermediate plate portion 192 opposite the adjacent outer root plate portion 191 toward the opposite side to the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The tip plate portions 193 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 provided on the same arc-shaped edge portion 173 are inclined so that the further away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161, the more inwardly positioned the tip plate portions 193 are in the radial direction of the arc-shaped edge portion 173. All of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 have a shape in which all of the tip plate portions 193 as a whole decrease in diameter as they move away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The angle between the adjacent tip plate portions 193 and intermediate plate portions 192 is an obtuse angle.
[0058] The inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 each have a portion on the side of the tip plate portion 193 adjacent to the intermediate plate portion 192, and this tip plate portion 193 constitute a tip engagement portion 194. The tip engagement portion 194 is bent toward the plate portion 161 in the direction in which the plate portion 161 widens.
[0059] The inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 have a straight boundary 195 on the convex side between the intermediate plate portion 192 and the adjacent tip plate portion 193. The boundary 195 is provided at the tip engagement portion 194. All the boundary portions 195 of all the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 are arranged so as to be tangents to the same circle. All the boundary portions 195 of all the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 are arranged so that both ends in the extending direction are all arranged on the same circle. The center of this circle is arranged on the central axis of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge portion 178. The diameter of the circle passing both ends of all the boundary portions 195 of all the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 is larger than the diameter of the edge portion 105 of the groove 101 of the recess portion 81 shown in FIG. 3. In other words, the diameter of a circle passing through both ends of all of the boundaries 195 of all of the inner folded locking pieces 162, 163 shown in Fig. 6 is larger than the diameter of the main surface portion 92 shown in Fig. 3 and Fig. 4. In addition, the edges of the extended tips of all of the tip plate portions 193 of all of the inner folded locking pieces 162, 163 shown in Fig. 6 are arranged to be tangents to the same circle.
[0060] The outer bent locking piece 164 has an outer root plate portion 201 , an intermediate plate portion 202 , and a tip plate portion 203 . The outer root plate portion 201 of the outer bent locking piece 164 is flat and disposed on the same plane as the plate portion 161. The outer root plate portion 201 of the outer bent locking piece 164 extends outward in the radial direction of the arcuate edge portion 173 from the arcuate edge portion 173 on which the outer bent locking piece 164 is provided.
[0061] The intermediate plate portion 202 of the outer bent locking piece 164 is flat. The intermediate plate portion 202 extends from an edge portion on the extending tip side of the adjacent outer root plate portion 201 to one side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The intermediate plate portion 202 of the outer bent locking piece 164 is inclined so that the farther it is from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161, the more it is positioned radially outward of the arc-shaped edge portion 173 on which the outer bent locking piece 164 is provided. All of the outer folded locking pieces 164 have a shape in which all of the intermediate plate portions 202 as a whole increase in diameter as they move away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The angle that the intermediate plate portion 202 of the outer folded locking piece 164 makes with the adjacent outer root plate portion 201 is an obtuse angle. The angle that the intermediate plate portion 202 of the outer folded locking piece 164 makes with the adjacent outer root plate portion 201 is smaller than the angle that the intermediate plate portion 192 of each of the inner folded locking pieces 162, 163 makes with the adjacent outer root plate portion 191.
[0062] The tip plate portion 203 of the outer bent locking piece 164 is flat. The tip plate portion 203 of the outer bent locking piece 164 extends from the edge portion of the adjacent intermediate plate portion 202 opposite to the adjacent outer root plate portion 201 to the outside in the radial direction of the arc-shaped edge portion 173 on which the outer bent locking piece 164 is provided and to the plate portion 161 side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The tip plate portion 203 of the outer bent engagement piece 164 is inclined so that the closer it is to the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161, the more radially outward it is from the arc-shaped edge portion 173 on which the outer bent engagement piece 164 is provided. All of the outer bent locking pieces 164 have a shape in which all of the tip plate portions 203 as a whole increase in diameter as they approach the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. The angle between the adjacent tip plate portions 203 and the intermediate plate portions 202 is an acute angle.
[0063] The outer bent locking piece 164 is formed by a portion of the intermediate plate portion 202 on the side of the adjacent tip plate portion 203 and this tip plate portion 203, which constitutes a tip engagement portion 204. The tip engagement portion 204 is bent in the opposite direction to the plate portion 161 in the direction in which the plate portion 161 spreads. The outer bent locking piece 164 has a straight end edge 205 on the opposite side of the end plate 203 from the adjacent intermediate plate 202. The end edge 205 is provided on the end engagement portion 204. All the end edges 205 of all the outer bent locking pieces 164 are arranged so as to be tangent to the same circle. The center of this circle is arranged on the central axis of the circle formed by the inner peripheral edge 178. The diameter of the circle passing through both ends of all the end edges 205 of all the outer bent locking pieces 164 is larger than the diameter of the end edge 105 of the groove 101 of the recess portion 81 shown in FIG. 3. In other words, the diameter of the circle passing through both ends of all the end edges 205 of all the outer bent locking pieces 164 shown in FIG. 6 is larger than the diameter of the main surface portion 92 shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4.
[0064] 6, the extending portion 167 has a guard plate portion 211 and a pair of locking portions 212. Thus, two locking portions 212 are provided for one plate portion 161. The extension portion 167 is provided on a linear edge portion 177 of the plate portion 161. The extension portion 167 has a guard plate portion 211 extending from the linear edge portion 177 of the plate portion 161. The guard plate portion 211 is in the shape of a substantially rectangular flat plate. The guard plate portion 211 spreads along the linear edge portion 177 of the plate portion 161. The guard plate portion 211 spreads perpendicularly to the plate portion 161 from the linear edge portion 177. The guard plate portion 211 extends from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 on the same side as the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164.
[0065] The pair of locking portions 212 have the same shape. The pair of locking portions 212 are provided on both end edges of the guard plate portion 211 in the extending direction of the linear edge portion 177. The pair of locking portions 212 are provided on the portion of the guard plate portion 211 opposite the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161. Both of the pair of locking portions 212 are rectangular flat plates. The pair of locking portions 212 are arranged in mirror symmetry. The pair of locking portions 212 extend from the guard plate portion 211 to the sides of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 and the outer bent locking piece 164 in the thickness direction of the guard plate portion 211.
[0066] The pair of locking portions 212 are configured such that the boundary lines between the pair of locking portions 212 and the plate portion 161 approach each other in the extending direction of the linear edge portions 177 as they move away from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 . Furthermore, the distance between the pair of locking portions 212 in the extending direction of the linear edges 177 increases as the pair of locking portions 212 moves away from the guard plate portion 211 in the thickness direction of the guard plate portion 211. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212 each form an equal obtuse angle with respect to the guard plate portion 211.
[0067] In a state before the plate 112 is assembled to the caliper body 51 shown in FIG. 4 and the like, the maximum distance between the pair of locking portions 212 at the position farthest from the plate portion 161 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161 shown in FIG. 6 is smaller than the minimum distance between the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the caliper body 51 shown in FIG. 4. This makes it easy to insert the pair of locking portions 212 between the pair of end side surface portions 97 starting from the position farthest from the plate portion 161. After being inserted between the pair of end side surface portions 97, the pair of locking portions 212 abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 as shown in FIG. 4. At that time, the pair of locking portions 212 elastically deform in a direction approaching each other.
[0068] As shown in FIG. 6, the plate 112 is fitted to the protruding portion 124 of the cover body member 111. As a result, the plate 112 is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14. That is, the plate 112 is oriented such that the plate portion 161 is at the front in the fitting direction, and is fitted to the protruding portion 124 while elastically deforming the three fixing pieces 166. At this time, the plate 112 is oriented such that the protruding portion 168 faces the long side edge 131 of the long side edge portions 131 and 132 of the cover body member 111, and the linear edge portion 177 faces the long side edge 132 of the long side edge portions 131 and 132. At this time, the plate 112 is oriented such that the linear edge portion 177 and the guard plate portion 211 are parallel to the end side edge portion 136 of the long side edge portion 132. At this time, the three fixing pieces 166 of the plate 112 bring the respective leading edge portions 187 into line contact with one of the corresponding one of the three side surfaces 151 of the protruding portion 124. At the same time, the three guide pieces 165 of the plate 112 are guided by the three guide plate portions 182 to the three corner portions of the outer circumferential surface 150 of the protruding portion 124 and move. Then, the plate 112 is fitted to the protruding portion 124 until the plate portion 161 abuts against the main plate portion 121. Then, the three leading edge portions 187 of the plate 112 abut against one of the corresponding one of the three side surfaces 151 of one of the protruding portions 124 in line contact with a tightening margin. As a result, the plate 112 is engaged and fixed to the cover body member 111 by the elastic force of the three fixing pieces 166. Therefore, the plate 112 is fixed to the cover body member 111 with the plate portion 161 in surface contact with the main plate portion 121.
[0069] In this manner, the plate 112 is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14. In this state, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167 of the plate 112 extend from the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 on the same side as the protruding portion 124.
[0070] Then, the cover member 14 is attached to the caliper 13 as shown in Figures 1 to 3 and 5. Specifically, the cover member 14 is attached to the claw portion 57 of the caliper body 51 as shown in Figures 3 and 5. At that time, the cover member 14 is attached to the claw portion 57 along the axial direction of the recess portion 81 from the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 shown in Figure 1. When assembled to the claw portions 57, the cover member 14 is oriented such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167 of the plate 112 shown in Fig. 6 are at the front in the assembly direction, and the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 is at the rear in the assembly direction. At the same time, the cover member 14 is oriented such that the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate 112 is positioned substantially on the axis of the recess portion 81, and the extending portion 167 of the plate 112 is positioned at the position farthest from the base portion 60.
[0071] In this state, the cover member 14 is moved toward the recess portion 81 along the axial direction of the recess portion 81. Then, the pair of locking portions 212 of the extension portion 167 of the plate 112 of the cover member 14 are first inserted into the recess portion 81. As the movement of the cover member 14 toward the recess portion 81 progresses, the pair of locking portions 212 come into contact with the end edges of the pair of end side surface portions 97 opposite the cylinder portion 55. As the movement of the cover member 14 toward the recess portion 81 progresses further, the pair of locking portions 212 run onto the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recess portion 81 while elastically deforming toward each other due to their respective inclinations. As a result, the pair of locking portions 212 come into contact with the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recess portion 81 with a tightening margin.
[0072] As described above, after the pair of locking portions 212 start to be inserted into the recessed portion 81, as the cover member 14 moves toward the recessed portion 81, the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 of the plate 112 each come into contact with the outer chamfered portion 94 of the recessed portion 81 at the tip plate portion 193. At the same time, the pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 of the plate 112 each come into contact with the outer chamfered portion 94 of the recessed portion 81 at the tip plate portion 203.
[0073] As the cover member 14 continues to move toward the recessed portion 81, the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 of the plate 112 ride up onto the main surface portion 92 of the recessed portion 81 at the boundary portion 195 while elastically deforming toward the protruding portion 124 due to the inclination of the outer chamfered portion 94 and the inclination of the tip plate portion 193, respectively. At the same time, the pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 of the plate 112 ride up onto the main surface portion 92 of the recessed portion 81 at the tip edge portion 205 while elastically deforming toward the protruding portion 124 due to the inclination of the outer chamfered portion 94 and the inclination of the tip plate portion 203, respectively.
[0074] When the cover member 14 is further moved toward the recessed portion 81, the boundary portions 195 of the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 of the plate 112 reach the position of the groove 101 of the recessed portion 81. Then, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 each slightly return to their original elastic deformation. As a result, the tip engagement portions 194 of the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 come into contact with the edge portion 105 of the wall surface 103 of the groove 101 on the main surface portion 92 side at the intermediate plate portion 192. At this time, the boundary portions 195 of the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 overlap the wall surface 103 in the radial direction of the wall surface 103. At this time, the elastic forces of the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 press the respective tip engagement portions 194 into contact with the end edge portions 105 of the grooves 101 of the recessed portion 81 in the intermediate plate portion 192 .
[0075] In parallel with the above, the tip edge 205 of each of the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112 reaches the position of the groove 101 of the recessed portion 81, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 slightly return to their original elastic deformation. Then, the tip edge 205 of each of the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 enters the groove 101 and abuts against the wall surface 103 of the groove 101 in the disk axial direction. In other words, the tip edge 205 of each of the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 overlaps the wall surface 103 in the radial direction. At this time, the elastic force of each of the outer bent locking pieces 164 presses the tip edge 205 against the groove bottom surface 102 of the groove 101 of the recessed portion 81 and abuts against it.
[0076] Here, tip edges 205 of the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of plate 112 enter groove 101 and abut against wall surface 103, and at the same time, the cover body member 111 abuts against bridge portion 56 and claw portion 57 of caliper 13 at main plate portion 121 and stops. In this manner, cover member 14 is attached to caliper 13. In this assembled state where cover member 14 is attached to caliper 13, the pair of locking portions 212 of cover member 14 abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of recess portion 81 with a tightening margin.
[0077] As shown in FIG. 5, in the assembled cover member 14, the cover body member 111 covers the recessed portion 81 from the outside opposite to the cylinder portion 55 in the disk axial direction. That is, in the cover body member 111, the main plate portion 121 overlaps the recessed portion 81 in the disk circumferential direction and the disk radial direction. In addition, in this assembled state, the plate portion 161 of the plate 112 of the cover member 14 covers the recessed portion 81 from the axial direction of the recessed portion 81, in other words, the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71. At that time, the plate portion 161 covers the recessed portion 81 on the side opposite to the cylinder portion 55 in the disk axial direction. That is, in the plate 112, the plate portion 161 overlaps the recessed portion 81 in the disk circumferential direction and the disk radial direction. In this assembled state, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 fixes the cover body member 111 to the caliper 13.
[0078] In the assembled state, the cover member 14 has a pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and a pair of inner folded locking pieces 163, which, due to their elastic force, cause the boundary portions 195 at their respective tip engagement portions 194 to enter into the grooves 101, maintaining the intermediate plate portions 192 in contact with the end edge portions 105 of the grooves 101. Here, in the assembled cover member 14, all of the intermediate plate portions 192 of the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 of the plate 112 are inclined so that the diameter thereof increases as they move away from the main plate portion 121. For this reason, the elastic force of the pair of inner folded locking pieces 162 and the pair of inner folded locking pieces 163 generates a component in a direction that causes the main plate portion 121 to abut against the bridge portion 56 and the claw portion 57. As a result, in the assembled cover member 14, the plate 112 causes the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 to abut against the bridge portion 56 and the claw portion 57 with elastic force, in other words, to come into close contact with them.
[0079] In the assembled state, the cover member 14 restricts the movement of the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112 in the direction away from the claw portion 57 and away from the cylinder portion 55 by abutting against the wall surface 103 of the groove 101 with which the claw portion 57 engages. In the assembled state, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 has the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 extending from the plate portion 161 so as to approach the cylinder hole 71 in the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71. In the assembled state, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 has the tip engagement portions 194 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 bent inward in the radial direction of the cylinder hole 71. In the assembled state, the tip engagement portions 194 of the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 abut against the edge portions 105 of the groove 101 at the intermediate plate portion 192.
[0080] In the assembled state, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 has the outer bent locking piece 164 extending from the plate portion 161 in the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 so as to approach the cylinder hole 71. In the assembled state, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 has the tip engaging portion 204 of the outer bent locking piece 164 bent outward in the radial direction of the cylinder hole 71. In the assembled state, the tip engaging portion 204 of the outer bent locking piece 164 abuts against the wall surface 103 of the groove 101 at the tip edge portion 205.
[0081] In the cover member 14 in the assembled state, an axis passing through the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate portion 161 and along the radial reference line is defined as a first axis, and an axis perpendicular to the first axis, passing through the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178, and extending in a direction perpendicular to the disk axis is defined as a second axis. Then, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state is arranged such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 are arranged to sandwich the first axis between them when viewed from the disk axial direction, and overlap each other when viewed from the second axis direction. Also, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state is arranged such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 are arranged to sandwich the first axis between them when viewed from the disk axial direction, and overlap each other when viewed from the second axis direction. In addition, when plate 112 of cover member 14 is assembled, a pair of outer folded locking pieces 164 are arranged on either side of the first axis when viewed from the disk axial direction, and are arranged so as to overlap each other when viewed from the direction of the second axis.
[0082] In addition, when viewed from the disk axial direction, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state has a pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 disposed on the opposite side to the bridge portion 56 from the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate portion 161 in the first axis direction. In addition, when viewed from the disk axial direction, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state has a pair of inner bent locking pieces 163 disposed on the bridge portion 56 side from the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate portion 161 in the first axis direction. In addition, when viewed from the disk axial direction, the plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state has a pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 disposed on the bridge portion 56 side from the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate portion 161 in the first axis direction.
[0083] Furthermore, the cover body member 111 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state has a protruding portion 124 extending from the main plate portion 121 in the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 so as to approach the cylinder hole 71. The plate 112 of the cover member 14 in the assembled state is provided with a plurality of guide pieces 165 and a plurality of fixing pieces 166 that abut against the outer peripheral surface 150 of the protruding portion 124 on the central side of the plate portion 161. In the assembled cover member 14 , the multiple inner bent locking pieces 162 , 163 and the outer bent locking piece 164 of the plate 112 extend from the plate portion 161 in the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 , in other words, in a direction inclined with respect to the moving direction of the piston 72 .
[0084] In the assembled state, the inner bent locking pieces 162, 163 and the outer bent locking piece 164 of the plate 112 of the cover member 14 come into elastic contact with the inner surface 91 of the recessed portion 81. In the assembled state, the inner bent locking pieces 162 and 163 and the outer bent locking piece 164 of the plate 112 of the cover member 14 come into contact with the groove 101 of the recessed portion 81 . Further, in the assembled cover member 14, the cover main body member 111 abuts against the bridge portion 56 at least radially outward of the protruding portion 124 to which the plate 112 is fixed.
[0085] In addition, in the assembled state, the cover member 14 restricts the pair of locking portions 212 of the plate 112 from moving the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. That is, one of the pair of locking portions 212 of the plate 112 abuts against one of the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81. As a result, the plate 112 restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in one direction in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212 of the plate 112 abuts against the other of the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81. As a result, the plate 112 restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the other direction in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In this manner, the pair of locking portions 212 of the plate 112 restrict movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212 abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In further other words, the pair of locking portions 212 abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting rotation of the plate 112 about the axis of the recessed portion 81, and therefore rotation of the cover member 14. In addition, in the assembled state, the guard plate portion 211 of the cover member 14 covers the recessed portion 80 from the inside in the disk radial direction.
[0086] In the disc brake 10, brake fluid is introduced into the cylinder hole 71 of the cylinder portion 55 of the caliper 13 via brake piping (not shown). Then, brake fluid pressure acts on the piston 72 in the cylinder hole 71. As a result, the piston 72 advances toward the disc 11. Then, the piston 72 presses the inner side friction pad 17, which is one of the friction pads 17 and 18 and is disposed between the piston 72 and the disc 11, toward the disc 11. As a result, the friction pad 17 moves in the disc axial direction and comes into contact with the inner side surface of the disc 11. In other words, the piston 72 that moves the inner side friction pad 17, which is one of the friction pads 17 and 18, is disposed in the cylinder hole 71 of the cylinder portion 55.
[0087] Furthermore, the reaction force of this pressure causes the caliper body 51 to slide the slide pin 47 relative to the mounting member 12 and move in the disk axial direction. Then, the claw portion 57 of the caliper body 51 presses the outer side friction pad 18, of the friction pads 17, 18, which is disposed between the claw portion 57 and the disk 11, toward the disk 11. As a result, the friction pad 18 moves in the disk axial direction and comes into contact with the outer side surface of the disk 11.
[0088] In this way, the caliper 13, by the operation of the piston 72, sandwiches the friction pads 17, 18 from both sides between the piston 72 and the claws 57 and presses them against both sides of the disk 11. As a result, the caliper 13 applies frictional resistance to the disk 11 to generate a braking force. The caliper 13 is a floating type caliper and a fist type caliper.
[0089] The disc brake described in the above Patent Document 1 is structured so that the assembly parts are provided with claws to engage with the caliper in order to improve the ease of attachment and detachment of the assembly parts. In this disc brake, the shim is assembled to the back plate of the outer pad using the claws, thereby restricting the movement of the shim in the rotational direction. Incidentally, a cover member may be provided on the caliper for the purpose of improving the design. In such a case, it is desirable to maintain the cover member in an appropriate state with respect to the caliper.
[0090] The disc brake 10 of the first embodiment includes a cover member 14 having a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81 from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 and a locking portion 212 that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in a rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. The plate 112 of the first embodiment also has a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81 from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 and a locking portion 212 that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in a rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Thus, the disc brake 10 and the plate 112 can restrict the cover member 14 from moving in a rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Thus, the disc brake 10 and the plate 112 can maintain the cover member 14 in an appropriate state.
[0091] Furthermore, in the disc brake 10, the locking portion 212 comes into contact with the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting the movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Therefore, in the disc brake 10, it is possible to reduce the size of the plate 112 including the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212 are an integrated component. Therefore, the disc brake 10 can suppress an increase in the number of components and an increase in costs. Furthermore, the disc brake 10 is provided with two locking portions 212 for each plate portion 161. Therefore, the disc brake 10 can share the load among the locking portions 212, thereby improving the durability of the locking portions 212.
[0092] [Second embodiment] Next, the second embodiment will be described with a focus on the differences from the first embodiment, mainly with reference to Figures 7 to 9. Note that the same names and symbols are used for the parts common to the first embodiment.
[0093] As shown in FIG. 7, a disc brake 10A of the second embodiment has, instead of the cover member 14, a cover member 14A which is partially different from the cover member 14. The cover member 14A has a plate 112A, which is partially different from the plate 112, instead of the plate 112.
[0094] The plate 112A is also formed by pressing a single spring steel plate. The plate 112A also has a mirror symmetrical shape. The plate 112A has a plate portion 161A that is partially different from the plate portion 161.
[0095] As shown in FIG. 8, the plate portion 161A has a pair of linear edges 175A instead of the pair of linear edges 175 and the pair of linear edges 176. The pair of linear edge portions 175A extend in the opposite direction from the protruding portions 168 from both ends of the pair of arcuate edge portions 173 on the side opposite the protruding portions 168. The pair of linear edge portions 175A are mirror symmetrical and parallel to each other. 9, the plate 112A has a guard plate portion 211A instead of the extension portion 167. The guard plate portion 211A is provided on the linear edge portion 177, and has the same shape as the guard plate portion 211.
[0096] The plate 112A has a pair of locking portions 212A. The pair of locking portions 212A have the same shape. The pair of locking portions 212A extend from the plate portion 161A on the same side as the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164. 8, one of the pair of locking portions 212A is provided on one of the pair of linear edge portions 175A. The other of the pair of locking portions 212A is provided on the other of the pair of linear edge portions 175A. The pair of locking portions 212A is provided at a position on the plate 112A away from the guard plate portion 211A. The pair of locking portions 212A are arranged in a mirror symmetrical manner. As shown in Fig. 9, the pair of locking portions 212A are arranged between the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162 and the guard plate portion 211A.
[0097] The locking portion 212A has an outer root plate portion 231A, an intermediate plate portion 232A, and a tip plate portion 233A. The outer root plate portion 231A is flat and is disposed on the same plane as the plate portion 161A. The outer root plate portion 231A extends outward from the linear edge portion 175A on which it is provided, perpendicular to the linear edge portion 175A, in the direction in which the plate portion 161A widens.
[0098] The intermediate plate portion 232A of the locking portion 212A is flat. The intermediate plate portion 232A extends from the edge portion of the extending tip side of the adjacent outer root plate portion 231A to one side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The intermediate plate portion 232A is inclined so as to be located on the opposite side to the plate portion 161A in the direction in which the plate portion 161A spreads as it moves away from the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The intermediate plate portion 232A of the pair of locking portions 212A is shaped so that the distance between them increases as it moves away from the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The angle between the intermediate plate portion 232A and the adjacent outer root plate portion 231A is an obtuse angle.
[0099] The tip plate portion 233A of the locking portion 212A is flat. The tip plate portion 233A extends from the edge of the adjacent intermediate plate portion 232A opposite to the adjacent outer base plate portion 231A toward the opposite side to the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The tip plate portion 233A is inclined so as to be located on the plate portion 161A side in the direction in which the plate portion 161A spreads as it moves away from the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The tip plate portion 233A of the pair of locking portions 212A is shaped so that the distance between them becomes narrower as it moves away from the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. The angle between the tip plate portion 233A and the adjacent intermediate plate portion 232A is an obtuse angle.
[0100] The locking portion 212A has a linear boundary 235A on the convex side between the intermediate plate portion 232A and the adjacent tip plate portion 233A. The boundaries 235A of the pair of locking portions 212A are parallel to each other and to the linear edge portion 175A. Plate 112A is a seamlessly molded integral part including plate portion 161A, a pair of inner folded locking pieces 162, a pair of inner folded locking pieces 163, a pair of outer folded locking pieces 164, three guide pieces 165, three fixing pieces 166, protrusion 168, guard plate portion 211A, and a pair of locking portions 212A.
[0101] In the state before the plate 112A is assembled to the caliper body 51 shown in FIG. 7, the pair of locking portions 212A has a minimum distance between the outer sides of the tip plate portions 233A in the direction in which the linear edge portion 177 extends shown in FIG. 9 that is smaller than the minimum distance between the pair of end side portions 97 of the caliper body 51 shown in FIG. 8. This makes it easy to insert the pair of locking portions 212A between the pair of end side portions 97, starting from the position furthest from the plate portion 161A in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161A. After being inserted between the pair of end side portions 97, the pair of locking portions 212A abut against the pair of end side portions 97 as shown in FIG. 7. At that time, the pair of locking portions 212A elastically deform in a direction approaching each other.
[0102] 9, the plate 112A is fitted to the protruding portion 124 of the cover body member 111 by the three fixing pieces 166 and the three guide pieces 165 in the same manner as in the first embodiment. As a result, the plate 112A is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14A. In this state, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, the guard plate portion 211A and the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A extend from the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 to the same side as the protruding portion 124.
[0103] 7, the cover member 14A is attached to the claw portion 57 of the caliper body 51. At this time, the cover member 14A is attached to the claw portion 57 along the axial direction of the recess portion 81 from the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 (see FIG. 1). When assembled to the claw portions 57, the cover member 14A is oriented such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A are at the front in the assembly direction, and the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 is at the rear in the assembly direction. At the same time, the cover member 14A is oriented such that the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate 112A is positioned substantially on the axis of the recess portion 81, and the guard plate portion 211A of the plate 112A is positioned at the farthest position from the base portion 60.
[0104] In this state, the cover member 14A is moved toward the recess portion 81 along the axial direction of the recess portion 81. Then, the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A of the cover member 14A are first inserted into the recess portion 81 at the tip plate portion 233A. As the movement of the cover member 14A toward the recess portion 81 progresses, the pair of locking portions 212A abut against the end edge portions of the pair of end side surface portions 97 opposite to the cylinder portion 55 (see FIG. 1) at the tip plate portion 233A. As the movement of the cover member 14A toward the recess portion 81 progresses further, the pair of locking portions 212A run on the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recess portion 81 while being elastically deformed toward each other due to the inclination of each tip plate portion 233A. As a result, the pair of locking portions 212A abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recess portion 81 with a tightening margin at the respective boundary portions 235A, as shown in FIG. 8.
[0105] As described above, when the cover member 14A starts to move toward the recess portion 81 after the pair of locking portions 212A starts to be inserted into the recess portion 81, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112A engage with the grooves 101 of the recess portion 81 shown in Fig. 7 in the same manner as in the first embodiment. At the same time, the cover body member 111 comes into contact with the bridge portion 56 and the claw portions 57 of the caliper 13 at the main plate portion 121 and stops.
[0106] In this manner, the cover member 14A is attached to the caliper 13. In this assembled state in which the cover member 14A is assembled to the caliper 13, the pair of locking portions 212A of the cover member 14A abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recess portion 81 with a tightening margin. That is, one of the pair of locking portions 212A abuts against one of the pair of end side surface portions 97 with a tightening margin. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212A abuts against the other of the pair of end side surface portions 97 with a tightening margin.
[0107] In the assembled state, the cover member 14A restricts the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A from moving the plate portion 161A in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. That is, in the plate 112A, one of the pair of locking portions 212A abuts against one of the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81. This restricts the plate portion 161A from moving in the rotational direction to one side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A abuts against the other of the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81. This restricts the plate portion 161A from moving in the rotational direction to the other side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In this manner, the pair of locking portions 212A of the plate 112A restrict the movement of the plate portion 161A in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212A abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting the movement of the plate portion 161A in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. In further other words, the pair of locking portions 212A abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97 of the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting the rotation of the plate 112A about the axis of the recessed portion 81, and therefore the rotation of the cover member 14A.
[0108] The disc brake 10A of the second embodiment includes a cover member 14A having a plate portion 161A that covers the recessed portion 81 from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212A that restricts the plate portion 161A from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81. The plate 112A of the second embodiment also has a plate portion 161A that covers the recessed portion 81 from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212A that restricts the plate portion 161A from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Thus, the disc brake 10A and the plate 112A can restrict the cover member 14A from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Thus, the disc brake 10A and the plate 112A can maintain the cover member 14A in an appropriate state.
[0109] Furthermore, in the disc brake 10A, the locking portion 212A comes into contact with the recessed portion 81, thereby restricting the movement of the plate portion 161A in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81. Therefore, in the disc brake 10A, it is possible to reduce the size of the plate 112A including the plate portion 161A and the locking portion 212A. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10A, the plate portion 161A and the locking portion 212A are an integrated component, so that the disc brake 10A can prevent an increase in the number of components and an increase in costs. Furthermore, the disc brake 10A has two locking portions 212A for each plate portion 161A. Therefore, the disc brake 10A can share the load among the locking portions 212A, thereby improving the durability of the locking portions 212A.
[0110] [Third embodiment] Next, the third embodiment will be described with a focus on the differences from the first embodiment, mainly with reference to Figures 10 to 12. Note that the same names and symbols are used for the parts common to the first embodiment.
[0111] A disc brake 10B of the third embodiment shown in FIG. 10 has a caliper 13B, which is partially different from the caliper 13, instead of the caliper 13. The caliper 13B has a caliper body 51B which is partially different from the caliper body 51 instead of the caliper body 51. In the caliper body 51B, a claw portion 57B is partially different from the claw portion 57. As shown in FIG. 11, in the claw portion 57B, a root portion 60B is partially different from the root portion 60. In the claw portion 57B, a recess portion 81B is partially different from the recess portion 81.
[0112] The base portion 60B and the recessed portion 81B are formed with the locking groove 251B at a position closest to the base portion 60B. Thus, the recessed portion 81B has an inner surface 91B that is different from the inner surface 91 in that the locking groove 251B is formed therein. The inner surface 91B has a main surface portion 92B that is different from the main surface portion 92 in that the locking groove 251B is formed therein. The inner surface 91B has an outer chamfered portion 94B that is different from the outer chamfered portion 94 in that the locking groove 251B is formed therein. The locking groove 251B is recessed from the main surface portion 92B outward in the radial direction of the main surface portion 92B. The locking groove 251B is provided at a central position in a direction connecting a pair of end side surface portions 97. In other words, the locking groove 251B is provided at a position farthest from the pair of end side surface portions 97 in the main surface portion 92. In other words, the locking groove 251B is provided on a radial reference line. The locking groove 251B extends in the axial direction of the recessed portion 81B through the outer chamfered portion 94B to the groove 101 shown in FIG.
[0113] The disc brake 10B of the third embodiment has a cover member 14B which is partially different from the cover member 14 instead of the cover member 14. The cover member 14B has a plate 112B which is partially different from the plate 112 instead of the plate 112.
[0114] The plate 112B is also formed by pressing a single spring steel plate. As shown in Fig. 11, the plate 112B also has a mirror symmetrical shape. The plate 112B has a plate portion 161B that is partially different from the plate portion 161.
[0115] Plate portion 161B is provided with an extension portion 167B instead of protrusion 168. Plate 112B is an integral part in which plate portion 161B, a pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, a pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, a pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, three guide pieces 165, three fixing pieces 166, and extension portion 167B are molded seamlessly. Plate portion 161B does not have extending portion 167, and has an arcuate edge portion 255B instead of a pair of straight edge portions 175, a pair of straight edge portions 176, and a straight edge portion 177. Arcuate edge portion 255B extends to connect ends of the pair of arcuate edges 173 opposite extending portion 167B. The pair of arcuate edges 173 and arcuate edge portion 255B each form a part of a concentric circle.
[0116] As shown in FIG. 12, the extending portion 167B has an outer base plate portion 261B and a locking portion 212B. The outer root plate portion 261B is flat and disposed on the same plane as the plate portion 161B. The outer root plate portion 261B extends radially outward from a position between the pair of arcuate edges 173 on the opposite side to the arcuate edges 255B. The locking portion 212B is flat. The locking portion 212B extends from the edge of the outer root plate portion 261B on one side in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161B. The locking portion 212B extends on the same side as the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161B. The locking portion 212B is inclined so as to be located radially inward of the pair of arc-shaped edges 173 as it moves away from the plate portion 161B in the thickness direction of the plate portion 161B. The angle formed by the locking portion 212B and the outer root plate portion 261B is an acute angle. The extension 167B is provided on a line that serves as a reference for mirror symmetry of the plate 112B.
[0117] Similar to the first embodiment, the plate 112B is fitted to the protruding portion 124 of the cover body member 111 by the three fixing pieces 166 and the three guide pieces 165. As a result, the plate 112B is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14B. In this state, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167B of the plate 112B extend from the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 to the same side as the protruding portion 124.
[0118] Then, this cover member 14B is attached to the claw portion 57B of the caliper body 51B as shown in Fig. 10. At this time, the cover member 14B is attached to the claw portion 57B from the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 (see Fig. 1) along the axial direction of the recessed portion 81B. When assembled to the claw portions 57B, the cover member 14B is oriented such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 and the extending portion 167B of the plate 112B are at the front in the assembly direction, and the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 is at the rear in the assembly direction. At the same time, the cover member 14B is oriented such that the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate 112B is positioned substantially on the axis of the recessed portion 81B, and the extending portion 167B of the plate 112B is in phase with the locking groove 251B around the axis of the recessed portion 81B.
[0119] In this state, the cover member 14B is moved toward the recessed portion 81B along the axial direction of the recessed portion 81B. Then, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112B engage with the grooves 101 of the recessed portion 81B in the same manner as in the first embodiment. At the same time, the cover body member 111 comes into contact with the bridge portion 56 and the claw portion 57B of the caliper 13B at the main plate portion 121 and stops. During this process, the locking portion 212B of the plate 112B of the cover member 14B is inserted into the locking groove 251B.
[0120] In this assembled state in which the cover member 14B is assembled to the caliper 13B, the locking portion 212B of the plate 112B restricts the plate portion 161B from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. That is, as shown in FIG. 11, the locking portion 212B of the plate 112B fits into the locking groove 251B of the recessed portion 81B. This restricts the locking portion 212B of the plate 112B from moving in both directions with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. In other words, the locking portion 212B abuts against the locking groove 251B of the recessed portion 81B to restrict the plate portion 161B from moving in both directions with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. In other words, the locking portion 212B comes into contact with the locking groove 251B of the recessed portion 81B, thereby restricting the rotation of the plate 112B about the axis of the recessed portion 81B, and therefore the rotation of the cover member 14B.
[0121] The disk brake 10B of the third embodiment includes a cover member 14B having a plate portion 161B that covers the recessed portion 81B from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212B that restricts the plate portion 161B from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. The plate 112B of the third embodiment also has a plate portion 161B that covers the recessed portion 81B from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212B that restricts the plate portion 161B from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. Thus, the disk brake 10B and the plate 112B can restrict the cover member 14B from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. Thus, the disk brake 10B and the plate 112B can maintain the cover member 14B in an appropriate state.
[0122] Furthermore, in the disc brake 10B, the locking portion 212B abuts against the recessed portion 81B, thereby restricting the movement of the plate portion 161B in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81B. Therefore, in the disc brake 10B, it is possible to reduce the size of the plate 112B including the plate portion 161B and the locking portion 212B. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10B, the plate portion 161B and the locking portion 212B are an integrated part. Therefore, the disc brake 10B can suppress an increase in the number of parts and an increase in costs. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10B, one locking portion 212B is provided for the plate portion 161B. Therefore, in the disc brake 10B, the weight of the plate 112B can be reduced.
[0123] [Fourth embodiment] Next, the fourth embodiment will be described with a focus on the differences from the first embodiment, mainly with reference to Figures 13 to 15. Note that the same names and symbols are used for the parts common to the first embodiment.
[0124] As shown in FIG. 13, a disc brake 10C of the fourth embodiment has a caliper 13C instead of the caliper 13, which is partially different from the caliper 13. The caliper 13C has a caliper body 51C which is partially different from the caliper body 51 instead of the caliper body 51. In the caliper body 51C, a claw portion 57C is partially different from the claw portion 57. In the claw portion 57C, a pair of claw main bodies 61C is partially different from the pair of claw main bodies 61. In the claw portion 57C, a recess portion 81C is partially different from the recess portion 81.
[0125] As shown in FIG. 14, the pair of claw body parts 61C and the recessed part 81C are provided with a pair of end side surface parts 97C instead of the pair of end side surface parts 97. Thus, the recessed part 81C has an inner surface 91C that is different in that a pair of end side surface parts 97C is provided on the inner surface 91. Each of the pair of end side surface parts 97C spreads from the opposite side of the base part 60 of the main surface part 92, i.e., the end edge part on the inner side in the disk radial direction, toward the inner side in the disk radial direction and toward the outer side in the disk circumferential direction. Each of the pair of end side surface parts 97C has a shape of a part of a cylindrical surface. The central axis of the curvature of the end side surface part 97C is along the axis of the recessed part 81C. The central axis of the curvature of the end side surface part 97C is disposed within the claw body part 61C in which the end side surface part 97C is formed. The end side surface part 97C has a shape of R chamfering.
[0126] As shown in FIG. 13, a disc brake 10C of the fourth embodiment has a cover member 14C which is partially different from the cover member 14 instead of the cover member 14. The cover member 14C has a plate 112C which is partially different from the plate 112 instead of the plate 112.
[0127] The plate 112C is also formed by press molding from a single spring steel plate. As shown in Fig. 14, the plate 112C also has a mirror symmetrical shape. The plate 112C has an extension portion 167C that is partially different from the extension portion 167. The plate 112C is an integrated part in which the plate portion 161, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, the three guide pieces 165, the three fixing pieces 166, the extension portion 167C, and the protrusion 168 are seamlessly molded. 15, the extension portion 167C has a guard plate portion 211C and a pair of locking portions 212C. Thus, one plate portion 161 is provided with two locking portions 212C. Guard plate portion 211C is substantially similar to guard plate portion 211, and its length in the direction in which linear edge portion 177 extends is longer than that of guard plate portion 211.
[0128] The pair of locking portions 212C have the same shape. The pair of locking portions 212C have the same shape as the pair of locking portions 212, and the angle between the pair of locking portions 212C and the guard plate portion 211C is different from the angle between the pair of locking portions 212 and the guard plate portion 211. That is, as shown in FIG. 15, the pair of locking portions 212C become closer to the guard plate portion 211C in the thickness direction of the guard plate portion 211C, the smaller the distance between the pair of locking portions 212C in the direction in which their linear edges 177 extend. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212C form the same acute angle with respect to the guard plate portion 211C, as shown in FIG. 15.
[0129] Similar to the first embodiment, the plate 112C is fitted to the protruding portion 124 of the cover body member 111 by the three fixing pieces 166 and the three guide pieces 165. As a result, the plate 112C is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14C. In this state, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167C of the plate 112C extend from the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 to the same side as the protruding portion 124.
[0130] Then, this cover member 14C is assembled to the claw portion 57C of the caliper body 51C as shown in Fig. 13. At this time, the cover member 14C is assembled to the claw portion 57C from the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 (see Fig. 1) along the axial direction of the recess portion 81C. When assembled to the claw portion 57C, the cover member 14C is oriented such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167C of the plate 112C are at the front in the assembly direction, and the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 is at the rear in the assembly direction. At the same time, the cover member 14C is oriented such that the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate 112C is positioned substantially on the axis of the recess portion 81C, and the extending portion 167C of the plate 112C is positioned at the position farthest from the base portion 60.
[0131] In this state, the cover member 14C is moved toward the recessed portion 81C along the axial direction of the recessed portion 81C. Then, the pair of locking portions 212C of the extension portion 167C of the plate 112C of the cover member 14C is first inserted into the recessed portion 81C. As the movement of the cover member 14C toward the recessed portion 81C progresses, the pair of locking portions 212C abut against the end edge portions of the pair of end side surface portions 97C on the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 (see FIG. 1). As the movement of the cover member 14C toward the recessed portion 81C progresses further, the pair of locking portions 212C elastically deform toward the mutually approaching side due to their respective inclinations, and ride up onto the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C. As a result, the pair of locking portions 212C abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C with a tightening margin.
[0132] As described above, when the pair of locking portions 212C start to be inserted into the recessed portion 81C and the cover member 14C continues to move toward the recessed portion 81C, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112C engage with the grooves 101 of the recessed portion 81, similar to the first embodiment. At the same time, the cover body member 111 comes into contact with the bridge portion 56 and the claw portion 57C of the caliper 13 at the main plate portion 121 and stops.
[0133] In this manner, the cover member 14C is attached to the caliper 13C. In this assembled state in which the cover member 14C is assembled to the caliper 13C, the pair of locking portions 212C of the cover member 14C abut against the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C with a tightening margin. That is, one of the pair of locking portions 212C abuts against one of the pair of end side surface portions 97C with a tightening margin. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212C abuts against the other of the pair of end side surface portions 97C with a tightening margin.
[0134] In the assembled state, the cover member 14C restricts the pair of locking portions 212C of the plate 112C from moving the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. That is, one of the pair of locking portions 212C of the plate 112C abuts against one of the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C. As a result, the plate 112C restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction to one side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212C of the plate 112C abuts against the other of the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C. As a result, the plate 112C restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction to the other side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. In this way, the pair of locking portions 212C of the plate 112C restrict the movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212C restrict the movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C by abutting against the pair of end side surface portions 97C of the recessed portion 81C. In further other words, the pair of locking portions 212C restrict the rotation of the plate 112C about the axis of the recessed portion 81C, and therefore the rotation of the cover member 14C.
[0135] The disc brake 10C of the fourth embodiment includes a cover member 14C having a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81C from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212C that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. The plate 112C of the fourth embodiment also has a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81C from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212C that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Thus, the disc brake 10C and the plate 112C can restrict the cover member 14C from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Thus, the disc brake 10C and the plate 112C can maintain the cover member 14C in an appropriate state.
[0136] Furthermore, in the disc brake 10C, the locking portion 212C comes into contact with the recessed portion 81C to restrict the movement of the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Therefore, in the disc brake 10C, it is possible to reduce the size of the plate 112C including the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212C. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10C, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212C are an integrated component. Therefore, the disc brake 10C can suppress an increase in the number of components and an increase in costs. Furthermore, the disc brake 10C has two locking portions 212C provided for one plate portion 161. Therefore, the disc brake 10C can share the load among the locking portions 212C, thereby improving the durability of the locking portions 212C.
[0137] [Fifth embodiment] Next, the fifth embodiment will be described with a focus on the differences from the fourth embodiment, mainly with reference to Figures 16 to 18. Note that parts common to the fourth embodiment will be designated by the same names and reference numerals.
[0138] A disc brake 10D according to a fifth embodiment shown in FIG. 16 has a cover member 14D which is partially different from the cover member 14C instead of the cover member 14C. The cover member 14D has a plate 112D which is partially different from the plate 112C of the cover member 14C in place of the plate 112C.
[0139] The plate 112D is also formed by press molding from a single spring steel plate. As shown in Fig. 17, the plate 112D also has a mirror symmetrical shape. The plate 112D has an extension 167D that is partially different from the extension 167C. The plate 112D is an integrated part in which the plate portion 161, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, the three guide pieces 165, the three fixing pieces 166, the extension 167D, and the protrusion 168 are seamlessly molded. 18, the extension portion 167D has a guard plate portion 211D and a pair of locking portions 212D. Thus, one plate portion 161 is provided with two locking portions 212D. The guard plate portion 211D has a flat plate shape similar to the guard plate portion 211C of the extension portion 167C.
[0140] The pair of locking portions 212D have the same shape. The pair of locking portions 212D extend in a direction away from the guard plate portion 211D along the extension direction of the linear edge portion 177 on both sides of the guard plate portion 211D in the extension direction of the linear edge portion 177. The pair of locking portions 212D spread out on the same plane as the guard plate portion 211D. The pair of locking portions 212D and the guard plate portion 211D as a whole form a single flat plate shape.
[0141] As in the fourth embodiment, the plate 112D is fitted to the protruding portion 124 of the cover body member 111 by the three fixing pieces 166 and the three guide pieces 165. As a result, the plate 112D is fixed to the cover body member 111 to form the cover member 14D. In this state, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167D of the plate 112D extend from the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 to the same side as the protruding portion 124.
[0142] Then, this cover member 14D is assembled to the claw portion 57C of the caliper body 51C as shown in Fig. 16. At this time, the cover member 14D is assembled to the claw portion 57C from the opposite side to the cylinder portion 55 (see Fig. 1) along the axial direction of the recess portion 81C. When assembled to the claw portion 57C, the cover member 14D is oriented such that the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164, and the extending portion 167D of the plate 112D are at the front in the assembly direction, and the main plate portion 121 of the cover body member 111 is at the rear in the assembly direction. At the same time, the cover member 14D is oriented such that the center of the inner peripheral edge portion 178 of the plate 112D is positioned substantially on the axis of the recess portion 81C, and the extending portion 167D of the plate 112D is positioned at the position farthest from the base portion 60.
[0143] In this state, the cover member 14D is moved toward the recessed portion 81C along the axial direction of the recessed portion 81C. Then, the pair of locking portions 212D of the extension portion 167D of the plate 112D of the cover member 14D first abuts against the end portion opposite to the root portion 60 of the pair of claw main bodies 61C. That is, one of the pair of locking portions 212D of the cover member 14D abuts against the end portion opposite to the root portion 60 of one of the pair of claw main bodies 61C. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212D of the cover member 14D abuts against the end portion opposite to the root portion 60 of the other of the pair of claw main bodies 61C. In other words, the cover member 14D has a pair of locking portions 212D of the extending portion 167D of the plate 112D overlapping with the radially inner ends of the pair of claw main portions 61C in both the disk axial direction and the disk circumferential direction.
[0144] Thereafter, as the cover member 14D continues to move toward the recessed portion 81C, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 162, the pair of inner bent locking pieces 163, and the pair of outer bent locking pieces 164 of the plate 112D engage with the grooves 101 of the recessed portion 81 in the same manner as in the first embodiment. At the same time, the cover body member 111 comes into contact with the bridge portion 56 and the claw portion 57C of the caliper 13 at the main plate portion 121 and stops.
[0145] In this manner, the cover member 14D is attached to the caliper 13C. In the assembled state in which the cover member 14D is assembled to the caliper 13C in this manner, the pair of locking portions 212D of the cover member 14D abut against the ends of the pair of claw main bodies 61C on the opposite side from the root portions 60. In other words, in the assembled state, the pair of locking portions 212D of the plate 112D of the cover member 14D abut against the ends of the claw portions 57C on the inner side in the disk radial direction.
[0146] In the assembled state, the cover member 14D restricts the pair of locking portions 212D of the plate 112D from moving the plate portion 161 in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. That is, in the plate 112D, one of the pair of locking portions 212D abuts against an end portion of one of the pair of claw main bodies 61C on the opposite side to the root portion 60. As a result, the plate 112D restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction to one side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. At the same time, the other of the pair of locking portions 212D of the plate 112D abuts against an end portion of the other of the pair of claw main bodies 61C on the opposite side to the root portion 60. As a result, the plate 112D restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction to the other side relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. In this way, the pair of locking portions 212D of the plate 112D restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. In other words, the pair of locking portions 212D restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C by abutting against the ends of the pair of claw main bodies 61C opposite to the root portions 60. In further other words, the pair of locking portions 212D restricts the rotation of the plate 112D about the axis of the recessed portion 81C, and therefore the rotation of the cover member 14D.
[0147] The disk brake 10D of the fifth embodiment includes a cover member 14D having a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81C from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212D that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. The plate 112D of the fifth embodiment also has a plate portion 161 that covers the recessed portion 81C from the axial direction of the cylinder hole 71 (see FIG. 2) and a locking portion 212D that restricts the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Thus, the disk brake 10D and the plate 112D can restrict the cover member 14D from moving in the rotational direction with respect to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Thus, the disk brake 10D and the plate 112D can maintain the cover member 14D in an appropriate state.
[0148] In addition, in the disc brake 10D, the locking portion 212D abuts against the radially inner end of the claw portion 57C, thereby restricting the plate portion 161 from moving in the rotational direction relative to the axis of the recessed portion 81C. Therefore, in the disc brake 10D, the shape of the extension portion 167D including the locking portion 212D can be simplified. Furthermore, in the disc brake 10D, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212D are an integrated component. Therefore, the disc brake 10D can suppress an increase in the number of components and an increase in costs. Furthermore, the disc brake 10D has two locking portions 212D provided for one plate portion 161. Therefore, the disc brake 10D can share the load among the locking portions 212D, thereby improving the durability of the locking portions 212D.
[0149] A cover member 14D including the plate 112D of the fifth embodiment may be provided for the caliper 13 of the first embodiment in place of the cover member 14. When configured in this manner, the pair of locking portions 212D come into contact with the ends of the pair of claw main bodies 61 on the opposite side to the root portions 60.
[0150] Also, the third embodiment can be combined with the first, second, fourth, and fifth embodiments. For example, for the caliper 13B of the third embodiment, a plate having the extension portion 167B of the third embodiment and the extension portion 167 of the first embodiment, or the pair of locking portions 212A of the second embodiment, or the pair of locking portions 212D of the fifth embodiment can be used. That is, a plate having a total of three locking portions, the locking portion 212B and the pair of locking portions 212, is used. Alternatively, a plate having a total of three locking portions, the locking portion 212B and the pair of locking portions 212A, is used. Alternatively, a plate having a total of three locking portions, the locking portion 212B and the pair of locking portions 212D, is used. In these cases, two or more (three) locking portions that restrict the rotation of the plate portion around the axis of the recess portion are provided for one plate portion. Of course, three or more locking portions that restrict the rotation of one plate portion about the axis of the recessed portion may be provided for one plate portion.
[0151] In addition, in the first embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212 are an integral part, in the second embodiment, the plate portion 161A and the locking portion 212A are an integral part, in the third embodiment, the plate portion 161B and the locking portion 212B are an integral part, in the fourth embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212C are an integral part, and in the fifth embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212D are an integral part. In contrast to these, in the first embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212 may be separate parts, in the second embodiment, the plate portion 161A and the locking portion 212A may be separate parts, in the third embodiment, the plate portion 161B and the locking portion 212B may be separate parts, in the fourth embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212C may be separate parts, and in the fifth embodiment, the plate portion 161 and the locking portion 212D may be separate parts. By configuring in this way, it is possible to make the plate portion a common part and to change the locking portion according to the shape of the caliper to make it a plate. As a result, it is possible to make the plate portion a common part for calipers of various shapes. [Industrial Applicability]
[0152] According to the above aspects, it is possible to provide a disc brake and a plate that can maintain the cover member in an appropriate state relative to the caliper, and thus the industrial applicability is great. [Explanation of symbols]
