Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a seal member for a machine tool.

Background Art

[0002] In a machine tool, a seal member for a machine tool (also referred to as a wiper for a machine tool) is attached to prevent foreign substances such as coolant and chips generated during machining (hereinafter referred to as cutting chips) from entering the machine interior through the gap portion.

[0003] The seal member for a machine tool is used not only on a flat surface but also on a corner portion. The corner portion refers to a region including two planes extending in different directions from a shared side and the shared side. In order to remove foreign substances from corner portions with various angles, a seal member for a machine tool (wiper for a machine tool) provided with a first wiper portion and a second wiper portion arranged at an angle has been proposed (for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).

[0004] In the seal member for a machine tool described in Patent Document 1, the opposing edges of the lip portions of the first wiper portion and the second wiper portion are integrated, and the angles of the first and second wiper portions change due to the elasticity of the lip portions.

[0005] The seal member for a machine tool described in Patent Document 2 includes a first wiper portion having a first wiper body and a first elastic sliding portion, and a second wiper portion having a second wiper body and a second elastic sliding portion. The first elastic sliding portion and the second elastic sliding portion are integrated with their ends as a joining portion, and are configured to be openable and closable at an angle of less than 180° around the joining portion. The connecting portion connecting the first wiper body and the second wiper body has a bellows structure that expands and contracts according to the above-described angle formed by the first elastic sliding portion and the second elastic sliding portion.

[0006] The sealing member for a machine tool described in Patent Document 3 includes a plate-shaped support member and a plate-shaped elastic member that slidably contacts the sliding surface of the machine tool, and is attached to the machine tool so that the elastic member is sandwiched between the attachment portion of the machine tool and the support member. The elastic member includes a protruding portion that protrudes from the edge of the support member toward the sliding surface side of the machine tool. The leading edge of the protruding portion has a plurality of straight portions and corner portions sandwiched between two adjacent straight portions among the plurality of straight portions. A cut is provided in the protruding portion from the corner portion toward the support member side up to the middle of the protruding portion.

Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0008] The sealing members for machine tools described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 can scrape one surface and the other surface of the adjacent surfaces constituting the corner portion by the lip portions of the first and second wiper portions. Since the angles of the first and second wiper portions of the sealing members for machine tools described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 change, they can be applied to corner portions of various angles. On the other hand, the requirements for the sealing members for machine tools have become higher. The sealing member for a machine tool is required to reliably adhere to the sliding surface of the machine tool and ensure the sealing performance when attached to the machine tool.

[0009] When the sealing member for a machine tool described in Patent Document 3 is attached to the machine tool, the cut provided in the protruding portion opens and a gap is generated, so it is difficult to ensure the sealing performance.

[0010] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a seal member for a machine tool that can surely adhere to the sliding surface of the machine tool and ensure the sealing performance when attached to the machine tool.

Means for Solving the Problems

[0011] The seal member for a machine tool according to the present invention is a seal member for a machine tool that is attached to an attachment portion of the machine tool, and includes an elastic member supported by a support member. The elastic member has a plate-shaped main body portion sandwiched between the attachment portion and the support member, a tip edge that slidably contacts the sliding surface of the machine tool, a plate-shaped protruding portion protruding from one end of the main body portion, and a cut formed from the other end of the main body portion toward the one end.

Effects of the Invention

[0012] According to the present invention, since a cut is formed from the other end to the one end of the main body portion constituting the elastic member, the tip edge of the protruding portion can be made to conform to the sliding surface of the machine tool without cutting the tip edge of the protruding portion, and the tip edge of the protruding portion surely adheres to the sliding surface of the machine tool, ensuring the sealing performance when attached to the machine tool.

Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention

[0014] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0015] 1. Embodiment In FIG. 1, the machine tool seal member 10 includes a support member 12 and an elastic member 14. The support member 12 is fixed to a mounting portion provided on a moving body of a machine tool (not shown). The elastic member 14 is supported by the support member 12 so as to be in sliding contact with the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool. The sliding surface 16 of the machine tool is, for example, the surface of the machine base or the surface of the cover. The machine tool seal member 10 is attached to the mounting portion of the machine tool on the support member 12 so as to be able to reciprocate relative to the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool. In FIG. 1, the machine tool seal member 10 is attached to a machine tool having five sliding surfaces 16 and reciprocates in the direction of the arrow parallel to the Y-axis direction. The five sliding surfaces 16 are arranged in a pentagonal C shape in a front view.

[0016] As shown in FIG. 2, the support member 12 is a plate-like member having a polygonal shape in a front view. In the present embodiment, the support member 12 is formed in a pentagonal C shape in accordance with the arrangement of the five sliding surfaces 16. The support member 12 is formed of, for example, metal.

[0017] As shown in FIG. 3, the support member 12 is fixed to a mounting portion 19 of a machine tool (not shown) using bolts 17 and nuts 18. The bolt holes 20 into which the bolts 17 are inserted are provided so as to penetrate the support member 12, the elastic member 14, and the mounting portion 19.

[0018] The elastic member 14 has a main body portion 22 and a protruding portion 24. The main body portion 22 and the protruding portion 24 are integrally formed without an adhesive. The elastic member 14 is formed of an elastic material such as a polymer material (e.g., rubber or resin). The elastic material constituting the elastic member 14 preferably has oil resistance and a hardness of 50 degrees or more. The hardness of the elastic material is more preferably in the range of 55 to 99 degrees, and most preferably in the range of 60 to 98 degrees. The hardness in this specification refers to the Shore A hardness measured by a Type A durometer based on JIS K6253. The elastic member 14 can be produced by punching from a sheet base material made of the raw elastic material.

[0019] The main body portion 22 is a plate-shaped member sandwiched between the mounting portion 19 of the machine tool and the support member 12. One end of the main body portion 22 on the sliding surface 16 side of the machine tool is taken as one end, and the end of the main body portion 22 on the side opposite to the sliding surface 16 is taken as the other end. The protruding portion 24 is a plate-shaped member protruding from one end of the main body portion 22. The protruding portion 24 has a tip edge 26 that is in sliding contact with the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool.

[0020] The protruding portion 24 is curved with respect to the main body portion 22 when the tip edge 26 is in sliding contact with the sliding surface 16. The angle θ of the protruding portion 24 with respect to the main body portion 22 is desirably within the range of 5° or more and 85° or less. The angle θ is more desirably within the range of 10° or more and 80° or less, and even more desirably within the range of 15° or more and 75° or less.

[0021] FIG. 4 is a front view of the elastic member 14 in the seal member 10 for a machine tool with the support member 12 removed. In FIG. 4, the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool is omitted. As shown in FIG. 4, the elastic member 14 has a cut 28 formed from the other end to one end of the main body portion 22. In this embodiment, the cut 28 has a linear slit shape.

[0022] The notch 28 is provided in the main body portion 22 and divides the main body portion 22. That is, the main body portion 22 has a plurality of divided pieces 30 divided by the notch 28. In the present embodiment, four notches 28 are provided in the main body portion 22, and the main body portion 22 has five divided pieces 30. Each divided piece 30 is provided with two or three bolt holes 20. The number of bolt holes 20 provided in the divided piece 30 is not particularly limited. In the present embodiment, the notch 28 is formed from the other end of the main body portion 22 toward one end up to the one end. The dotted line shown in FIG. 4 is the boundary line between the main body portion 22 (divided piece 30) and the protruding portion 24. The boundary line between each divided piece 30 and the protruding portion 24 is connected at the tip of the notch 28 (on the sliding surface 16 side of the machine tool).

[0023] The notch 28 is not provided in the protruding portion 24. Therefore, the protruding portion 24 is not divided and has an integral shape without a notch 28 at the tip edge 26. The protruding portion 24 is polygonal and has a plurality of straight portions 32 connected to the plurality of divided pieces 30 and corner portions 34 sandwiched between two adjacent straight portions 32 among the plurality of straight portions 32. In the present embodiment, the protruding portion 24 is formed in a pentagonal C shape and has an integral shape in which five straight portions 32 and four corner portions 34 are integrated. Two adjacent straight portions 32 among the plurality of straight portions 32 are respectively pressed against two sliding surfaces 16 that extend in different directions from a shared side.

[0024] As shown in FIG. 5, since the corner portion 34 constituting the protruding portion 24 has elasticity, when the tip edge 26 of the protruding portion 24 is brought into sliding contact with the sliding surface of the machine tool (not shown), it may open slightly so as to bulge. However, the gap between the tip of the corner portion 34 and the sliding surface is small, and a sealing property sufficient to prevent the intrusion of foreign matters such as chips and coolant is ensured. By pressing the machine tool sealing member 10 against the sliding surface of the machine tool, the gap between the tip of the corner portion 34 and the sliding surface can be filled.

[0025] 2. Mounting method Next, a method for attaching the machine tool seal member 10 configured as described above will be explained. FIG. 6 is an explanatory diagram for explaining the configuration of the elastic member 14 before attaching the machine tool seal member 10 to the machine tool. (a) of FIG. 6 is a front view of the elastic member 14. (b) of FIG. 6 is a side view of the elastic member 14. As shown in FIG. 6, the elastic member 14 before attaching the machine tool seal member 10 to the machine tool is a long plate-like member having a rectangular shape in a front view. The elastic member 14 is produced by punching from a sheet base material made of an elastic material as a raw material. By bending the elastic member 14 so as to widen the cut 28, it can be made into substantially the same shape (pentagonal C shape) as the support member 12. The elastic member 14 is disposed between the attachment portion 19 of the machine tool and the support member 12, and the bolt 17 is inserted from the support member 12 side into the bolt hole 20, and the nut 18 is tightened from the attachment portion 19 side, whereby the machine tool seal member 10 can be attached to the machine tool (see FIG. 3). The protruding portion 24 is not curved before the tip edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16, but curves with respect to the main body portion 22 when the tip edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16. The angle θ of the protruding portion 24 with respect to the main body portion 22 is preferably in the range of 5° or more and 85° or less.

[0026] 3. Operation and Effect The machine tool seal member 10 configured as described above has an irregular integral shape and is attached to the attachment portion 19 of the machine tool at an angle adapted to the angle of the corner portion. The corner portion is a region including two sliding surfaces 16 that extend in different directions from a common side and the common side. Since the cut 28 is formed in the machine tool seal member 10 from the other end to one end of the main body portion 22 constituting the elastic member 14, the tip edge 26 of the protruding portion 24 can be made to conform to the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool without cutting the tip edge 26, and the tip edge 26 is surely in close contact with the sliding surface 16, ensuring the sealing performance when attached to the machine tool.

[0027] The elastic member 14 is produced by punching from a sheet base material made of an elastic material as a raw material into a long plate-like member having a rectangular shape in a front view. For this reason, since a large number of elastic members 14 can be obtained from one sheet base material, the production efficiency and the yield are improved.

[0028] The sealing member 10 for a machine tool can be attached to the attachment portion 19 of the machine tool by bending the elastic member 14 so as to widen the notch 28 and conforming it to the plurality of sliding surfaces 16, and thus can be applied to corner portions at various angles.

[0029] The protruding portion 24 is such that the tip edge 26 is pressed against the sliding surface 16 and curves with respect to the main body portion 22 (see FIG. 3). Since the tip edge 26 of the curved protruding portion 24 is surely in close contact with the sliding surface 16, the sealing member 10 for a machine tool has better sealing performance when attached to the machine tool, and can surely remove foreign matter on the sliding surface 16 when reciprocating relative to the sliding surface 16. By setting the angle θ of the protruding portion 24 with respect to the main body portion 22 within the range of 5° or more and 85° or less, the sealing performance is further improved.

[0030] 4. Modification The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and can be appropriately modified within the scope of the gist of the present invention.

[0031] In the above-described embodiments, the case where the elastic member 14 before attaching the sealing member 10 for a machine tool to the machine tool is a long plate-like member having a rectangular shape in a front view has been described, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0032] It may be configured as a plate-like member formed in a pentagonal C shape in a front view, like the elastic member 44 shown in FIG. 7 (First Modification Example). FIG. 7(a) is a front view of the elastic member 44. FIG. 7(b) is a side view of the elastic member 44. Similar to the elastic member 14 of the above-described embodiment, the elastic member 44 has a main body portion 22, a protruding portion 24, and a notch 28. The protruding portion 24 is not curved before the tip edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool, but curves with respect to the main body portion 22 when the tip edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16. The elastic member is not limited to a rectangular shape or a pentagonal shape, and can be a polygonal shape such as a quadrilateral or a hexagon. By changing the shape of the elastic member, the machine tool seal member can remove foreign matter from corner portions at various angles.

[0033] In the above-described embodiment, the case where the elastic member 14 is composed of the main body portion 22, the protruding portion 24, and the notch 28 has been described, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0034] It may be configured to have a stop hole 56 provided at the tip of the notch 28 in addition to the main body portion 22, the protruding portion 24, and the notch 28, like the elastic member 54 shown in FIG. 8 (Second Modification Example). The dotted line shown in FIG. 8 is the boundary line between the main body portion 22 (split piece 30) and the protruding portion 24. The boundary line between each split piece 30 and the protruding portion 24 is connected at the bottom of the stop hole 56 (on the side of the sliding surface 16 of the machine tool). Since the stop hole 56 is provided at the tip of the notch 28 in the elastic member 54, stress concentration at the tip of the notch 28 when the notch 28 is bent to widen it is alleviated.

[0035] In the above-described embodiment, as the notch formed from the other end to one end of the main body portion, the notch 28 formed from the other end to one end of the main body portion 22 up to that one end is provided, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, a notch may be provided that is formed from the other end to one end of the main body portion 22 and does not reach all the way to that one end but only partway. Also, a notch may be provided that is formed from the other end to one end of the main body portion 22 and does not reach all the way to the tip edge 26 of the protruding portion 24 but only partway.

[0036] The cut 28 has a linear slit shape in the above-described embodiment, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The cut 28 may be, for example, teardrop-shaped, circular, U-shaped, curved, or triangular.

[0037] In the above-described embodiment, the protruding portion 24 is configured such that it is not curved before the leading edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16 and curves with respect to the main body portion 22 when the leading edge 26 comes into sliding contact with the sliding surface 16. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The protruding portion 24 may be configured to be curved with respect to the main body portion 22 in a state where the leading edge 26 is not in sliding contact with the sliding surface 16. In this case, the angle of the protruding portion 24 with respect to the main body portion 22 may be, for example, within a range of 5° or more and 85° or less.

[0038] In the above-described embodiment, the case where the seal member for a machine tool 10 in which the elastic member 14 is supported by the support member 12 is applied as the seal member for a machine tool has been described. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the elastic member 14 before being supported by the support member 12 may be applied as the seal member for a machine tool.

[0039] Although the embodiments and modification examples have been described above, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments and modification examples, and can be appropriately changed within the scope of the gist of the present invention.
