The handle 100 includes a digital display 122 for displaying instructions and / or product information to a consumer. The presence of an authorized user may be determined, for example, in response to receiving a payment by the handle 100. The handle 100 may include a payment processing unit 140 configured to detect a payment source and receive a payment from a user, as shown in FIG. 1 . Additionally, the payment processing unit 140 may be configured to receive an indication that a consumer has made a payment, such as a remote payment or a payment made on a smartphone or smartphone application, and the remote payment indication is transmitted to the handle 100 to enable the consumer to purchase a product without entering a payment at the handle 100 of the beverage dispensing system.

Cabinet 220 may also store products such as reusable containers or bottles, e.g., water bottles or sports bottles, for consumer purchase. In some embodiments, door 224 of cabinet 220 may include a transparent portion 226 so that a consumer can view product 400 in storage compartment 235 without having to open door 224. Door 224 may be pivotally connected to cabinet 220 by a hinge, or door 224 may slide on a track in cabinet 220.

In some embodiments, product sensor 270 may identify products by detecting the shape and / or color of the product being removed from cabinet 220. Product sensor 270 may be positioned adjacent door 224 on a front portion of storage compartment 235, such as a corner of storage compartment 235 or on a shelf 232 of storage compartment 235. Product sensor 270 may define a plane parallel to the front of cabinet 220 and detect when product 400 passes through the plane, indicating that product 400 has been removed from or returned to cabinet 220.

If the display 122 of the steering wheel 100 is a touchscreen display, the display 122 may be configured to show an icon 135 for completing the purchase of any items in the virtual shopping cart. The consumer may touch the display at the location of the icon 135 to complete the purchase. In some embodiments, the icon 135 may require the consumer to perform a gesture, such as swiping on the display 122 from left to right along a path or track, to complete the purchase. The audible alert may allow the consumer to easily verify that the removal of the product was detected and that the consumer will be charged for the removed product; similarly, the audible alert may allow the user to verify that the return of the removed product was recognized by the product vending system. A handle for a product vending system, comprising: a housing configured to be secured to a product storage cabinet door having a lock; a user interface disposed on the housing, the user interface including a display configured to show product information and configured to switch between an idle state, a first mode, a second mode, and a third mode; and a payment processing unit disposed in the housing, the payment processing unit configured to detect a payment source; a control unit configured to communicate with the lock of the product storage cabinet such that when the payment source is detected by the payment processing unit, the control unit is configured to unlock the lock of the product storage cabinet to provide access to products stored in the product storage cabinet; a proximity sensor configured to detect when a user is within a predetermined distance of the product vending system; the user interface is configured to switch from the idle state to the first mode based on the detection of the proximity sensor; the user interface is configured to display at least one of a message, an image, or a video related to a product in the first mode; the control unit is configured to switch the user interface to the second mode in response to the payment processing unit detecting the payment source; the user interface is configured to receive user input in the second mode; the control unit is configured to switch the user interface to the third mode in response to the user input; The user interface is configured to display the product information in the third mode.
2. The handle of claim 1 , wherein the payment processing unit comprises one or more of a credit card reader, a near field communication antenna, and a chip reader.
3. The handle of claim 1 , wherein the display is a touchscreen display configured to receive user input.
4. The handle of claim 1 , further comprising an audio unit configured to play an audible alert.
5. The handle of claim 1 , wherein the housing is configured to be retrofitted to the door of the product storage cabinet.

A product sales system, comprising: (a) A cabinet comprising: a storage compartment for storing the product; a cabinet including a door connected to the storage compartment, the door being movable between a closed configuration and an open configuration; (b) a handle securable to the door of the cabinet, a digital display configured to switch between an idle state, a first mode, a second mode, and a third mode; a payment processing unit configured to detect a payment source; a control unit configured to control the operation of the product vending system; and (c) a product sensor disposed within the storage compartment configured to detect product removed from the storage compartment; (d) a proximity sensor configured to detect when a user is within a predetermined distance of the product vending system; (e) the digital display is configured to switch from the idle state to the first mode based on the detection of the proximity sensor; (f) the digital display is configured to display at least one of a message, an image, or a video related to a product in the first mode; (g) the payment processing unit is configured to switch the digital display to the second mode in response to detecting the payment source; (h) the digital display is configured to receive user input in the second mode; (i) the control unit is configured to switch the digital display to the third mode upon receiving the user input; (j) the digital display is configured to show product information about a product removed from the storage compartment as determined by the product sensor.
7. 7. The system of claim 6, wherein the cabinet further comprises a lock configured to maintain the door in the closed configuration, and the control unit is configured to communicate with the lock and unlock the lock when the payment source is detected by the payment processing unit.

The system of claim 6, wherein when the product sensor detects the removal of a product from the storage compartment, the product information display is configured to display information corresponding to the product removed from the storage compartment.

The system of claim 6, further comprising a cabinet light disposed within the storage compartment, the cabinet light in communication with the control unit of the handle, the control unit configured to increase brightness of the cabinet light when the door of the cabinet is in the open configuration.
10. 7. The system of claim 6, further comprising an audio unit configured to play an audible alert when a product is removed from or returned to the storage compartment of the cabinet as determined by the product sensor.
11. A handle as described in claim 1, wherein the first mode is a consumer attraction mode and the second mode is not a consumer attraction mode.
