To accurately detect the position in a document of a fold made in the document.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a post-processing device that folds a sheet on which an image is formed; a document reading unit that reads a document; a reading control unit 53 that acquires image data obtained by reading an area including the contour of the document folded by the post-processing device and output by the document reading unit; and a relative position determination unit 59 that determines the relative positions of the contour of the document and a fold based on the image data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
