Abstract

To provide a multilayer coating film formation method which enables formation of a coating film having less unevenness and excellent brightness even under a normal temperature drying condition.SOLUTION: A brilliant multilayer coating film formation method includes a step (1) of coating a coloring coating material (I) containing a coloring pigment and a resin component onto a base material surface so that a thickness of a colored coating film is equal to or thicker than a covering film thickness, and drying the coloring coating material and providing a colored coating film, and a step (2) of coating a brilliant coating material (II) containing a brilliant pigment and a resin component onto the colored coating film obtained in the step (1), drying the brilliant coating material, and forming a brilliant coating film, in which the colored coating film does not contain a brilliant pigment or has a content of the brilliant pigment smaller than that of the brilliant coating film, and the brilliant coating film contains 0.05-15 mass% of the brilliant pigment and is thinner than a covering film thickness.SELECTED DRAWING: None

Claims

1. Step (1) involves applying a colored coating (I) containing colored pigments and resin components to the substrate surface such that the thickness of the colored coating film is equal to or greater than the opacity film thickness, and drying it to form a colored coating film, and The process includes step (2), in which a glossy paint (II) containing a glossy pigment and a resin component is applied to the colored coating obtained in step (1), and dried to form a glossy coating.
