Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a reel holding device for holding a reel storing a carrier tape in which components are enclosed, and a component mounting device configured to include this reel holding device.
Background Art
[0002] Conventionally, there is known a component mounting device that manufactures a mounting substrate by supplying components by a component supply unit and transferring the components to a substrate with a work head. There are various types of component supply units, but a tape feeder of a type that conveys a carrier tape in which components are enclosed and supplies the components to a component supply port is frequently used. Since the tape feeder draws in and conveys the carrier tape fed out from the reel, a reel holding device for holding the reel is required for the component mounting device. The reel holding device can usually hold, in addition to the current reel, which is the reel from which the component supply unit is feeding out the carrier tape being conveyed, a replenishment reel, which is a reel for replenishment (see, for example, Patent Document 1 below).
[0003] In the reel holding device described in Patent Document 1 above, the current reel is installed at a position on the back side as seen by the operator, and the replenishment reel is installed on the front side as seen by the operator. The wound carrier tape of the current reel is directly supported by the reel holding device, and when the carrier tape is pulled by the component supply unit, it rotates on the spot and feeds out the carrier tape. Then, when all of the carrier tape has been pulled out, the part supported by the reel holding device disappears and it automatically drops and is discharged to the outside. When the used reel is discharged, the target for the component supply unit to draw in the carrier tape switches to the carrier tape of the replenishment reel. The replenishment reel is pulled by the component supply unit, rolls from the standby position, moves to the location where the original current reel was located, and the wound carrier tape is supported by the reel holding device, whereby the reel is automatically exchanged.

[0004] [Patent Document 1] International Publication No. 2017 / 061042 [Overview of the Initiative] [Problems that the invention aims to solve]
[0005] In a reel holding device, when setting a new replenishment reel in the standby position, it is necessary to perform a parts verification operation to confirm that the parts on the replenishment reel match the parts on the previously set reel. However, in the reel holding device described in Patent Document 1, the reel (current reel) after the parts supply unit has started to pull it in is located further back than the installation position of the replenishment reel. Therefore, in order for the operator to perform parts verification on the current reel, it is necessary to take out the current reel which is located further back, which presents a problem in that the parts verification operation is difficult to perform. This problem tends to become more apparent, especially with reels that have a large outer diameter, as it is difficult to take out the reel.
[0006] Therefore, the present invention aims to provide a reel holding device and a component mounting device that facilitate component verification work. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] The reel holding device of the present invention is a reel holding device used in conjunction with a parts supply unit that holds a reel containing a carrier tape with parts enclosed in it, and supplies parts to a work head while feeding the carrier tape unwound from the reel in a first direction, and comprises a first reel holding part that holds a first reel, and a second reel holding part that holds a second reel to be used after the first reel held in the first reel holding part, wherein the second reel holding part is displaceable to at least a first position and a second position relative to the first reel holding part, and in the first position the first reel and the second reel can be placed on it and can maintain the state of holding the first reel even after the parts supply unit starts pulling in the carrier tape, and when the second reel holding part is displaced to the second position the first reel placed on the second reel holding part is fed to the first reel holding part by its own weight, but the second reel maintains the state of being held in the second reel holding part.
[0008] The component mounting apparatus of the present invention comprises a reel holding device for holding a reel containing a carrier tape in which components are sealed, a work head for taking components from the carrier tape and mounting them on a substrate, and a component supply unit for supplying components to the work head while feeding the carrier tape unwound from the reel in a first direction, wherein the reel holding device comprises a first reel holding section for holding a first reel, and a second reel holding section for holding a second reel to be used after the first reel held by the first reel holding section, and the The second reel holder is displaceable to at least a first and second position relative to the first reel holder. In the first position, it can hold the first and second reels and maintains holding the first reel even after the parts supply unit begins to pull in the carrier tape. When the second reel holder is displaced to the second position, the first reel placed on the second reel holder is fed to the first reel holder by its own weight, but the second reel remains held in the second reel holder. [Effects of the Invention]
[0009] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a reel holding device and a component mounting device that facilitate component verification work. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

Embodiments for Carrying out the Invention
[0011] Embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows a component mounting device 1 in one embodiment of the present invention. The component mounting device 1 is a device for mounting components BH on a substrate KB, and includes a mounting device main body portion 1A, a component supply device 1B, and a reel holding device 1C.
[0012] In Figure 1, the main body 1A of the mounting device comprises a substrate transport unit 11, a work head 12, and a head movement mechanism 13. The substrate transport unit 11 is equipped with a pair of transport conveyors 11a that are spaced apart in the left-right direction of Figure 1 and extend perpendicular to the plane of the paper in Figure 1. These transport conveyors 11a transport the substrate KB and position it at a predetermined work position. For convenience, the transport direction of the substrate KB by the substrate transport unit 11 will be referred to as the X direction (front-back direction), and the up-down direction as the Z direction. The direction perpendicular to both the X and Z directions will be referred to as the Y direction (front-back direction). Furthermore, within the Y direction, the right side in Figure 1 will be referred to as the front (first direction), and the left side in Figure 1 will be referred to as the rear.
[0013] The work head 12 is equipped with a nozzle 12N extending downward, and by supplying vacuum pressure to the nozzle 12N, it picks up the part BH. The head moving mechanism 13 consists of, for example, an XY table mechanism, and moves the work head 12 in the XY plane.
[0014] The parts supply device 1B comprises a feeder cart 21 and a parts supply unit 22. The feeder cart 21 is equipped with wheels and is movable on the floor surface FL, and has a block-shaped feeder base 21F extending in the X direction on top of it (see also Figure 2).
[0015] The parts supply unit 22 consists of a tape feeder and is detachably mounted on the feeder base 21F. The parts supply unit 22 transports the carrier tape CT supplied from the reel holding device 1C forward in the Y direction. Multiple parts BH are individually sealed in the carrier tape CT in a line, and the parts supply unit 22 continuously supplies parts BH to the parts supply port 22K by transporting the carrier tape CT.
[0016] The mounting device main unit 1A positions the substrate KB using the substrate transport unit 11, and then moves the work head 12 using the head moving mechanism 13 to repeatedly perform a component transfer operation to transfer components BH supplied by the component supply device 1B onto the substrate KB. The component transfer operation consists of picking up the components BH supplied by the component supply unit 22 with the nozzle 12N, and placing the picked-up components BH at the target mounting position on the substrate KB. By repeating this component transfer operation, a mounted substrate with components BH mounted on the substrate KB is manufactured.
[0017] Next, the reel holding device 1C will be described. The reel holding device 1C is a device that holds multiple reels RL around which carrier tape CT is wound, and is used while connected to the feeder cart 21. The parts supply unit 22 mounted on the feeder cart 21 pulls in the carrier tape CT that is unwound forward (in the first direction) from the reels RL held by the reel holding device 1C and transports it, supplying parts BH to the mounting device main body 1A.
[0018] As shown in Figure 1, the reel holding device 1C holds the current reel RLA and the replenishment reel RLB. The current reel RLA is the reel from which the parts supply unit 22 is feeding the carrier tape CT that is being transported. The replenishment reel RLB is a replenishment reel, that is, a reel that feeds the carrier tape CT to the parts supply unit 22 as a new current reel RLA after the current reel RLA runs out of parts.
[0019] In this embodiment, the reel holding device 1C is used together with a parts supply unit 22 that holds a reel RL containing a carrier tape CT and supplies parts BH to the work head 12 while feeding the carrier tape CT unwound from the reel RL forward (in the first direction).
[0020] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the reel holding device 1C comprises a trolley 31 and a reel holding unit 32. The trolley 31 has a pair of left and right trolley bases 41. Each trolley base 41 extends in the Y direction (front-rear direction). Wheels 42 are provided on the front and rear undersides of each trolley base 41, and the reel holding device 1C can travel on the floor surface FL using these four wheels 42. A pair of left and right front support columns 43 extend upward from the middle of each of the left and right trolley bases 41, and a pair of left and right rear support columns 44 extend upward from the rear ends of each of the left and right trolley bases 41.
[0021] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the trolley 31 is equipped with a pair of left and right arms 45 extending in the front-rear direction. Each arm 45 extends by connecting the upper ends of two sets of left and right front support columns 43 and rear support columns 44, which are positioned opposite each other in the Y direction.
[0022] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the trolley 31 is equipped with a connecting bar 46 extending in the left-right direction. The connecting bar 46 connects the left and right trolley bases 41 at the midpoint between the left and right trolley bases 41. The connecting bar 46 is provided with a pair of left and right chuck mechanisms 47 that protrude forward. Each of the left and right chuck mechanisms 47 is equipped with a pair of gripping members 47S that grasp the connecting pin 21P (see Figure 10) on the feeder cart 21 side, which is inserted into a groove that opens forward. These two gripping members 47S are biased in a direction (X direction) in which they press against each other by a spring member (not shown) built into the chuck mechanism 47.
[0023] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the trolley 31 is equipped with a first support bar 48 and a second support bar 49 extending in the X direction. The first support bar 48 connects the front ends of the left and right arms 45, and the second support bar 49 connects the midpoints of the left and right rear support columns 44 in the height direction.
[0024] In Figures 3 and 5, the trolley 31 is equipped with a discharge section 51 from which used reels RL that have run out of parts and become empty are discharged. The discharge section 51 has a groove-shaped form that is recessed downwards and has both ends in the X direction connected to the left and right trolley bases 41.
[0025] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the trolley 31 is equipped with left and right alignment sections 55. Each alignment section 55 is attached to the inner surface (opposite side surface) of the front end of each of the left and right trolley bases 41, and has a shape that protrudes inward (facing each other). The distance between the inner surfaces of these left and right alignment sections 55 is slightly greater than the distance between the outer surfaces of the feeder cart 21.
[0026] In Figures 3, 4, and 5, the reel holding unit 32 is configured to include a first reel holding section 61 and a second reel holding section 62 (see also Figure 6). The first reel holding section 61 has the function of holding the current reel RLA, and the second reel holding section 62 has the function of holding the replenishment reel RLB.
[0027] In Figures 5 and 6, the first reel holder 61 comprises a pair of plate-shaped guide members 71 facing each other in the X direction, and two spacer members 72 extending in the X direction. The two spacer members 72 each have a cylindrical shape and are provided between the pair of guide members 71. In detail, the two spacer members 72 are provided in front of the pair of guide members 71, arranged almost vertically. The spacer members 72 connect the pair of guide members 71 at a distance in the X direction that is slightly greater than the width dimension of the reel RL (the X-direction dimension of the reel RL). Therefore, the first reel holder 61 can hold the reel RL in the space enclosed by the two spacer members 72 and the pair of guide members 71. The pair of guide members 71 are parallel to the vertical plane (YZ plane) along the feed direction (Y direction) of the carrier tape CT. Therefore, the first reel holder 61 can hold the reel RL in an upright position almost parallel to the vertical plane. Furthermore, the first reel holding unit 61 holds the reel RL in a rotatable state. As a result, when the parts supply unit 22 pulls in the carrier tape CT unwound from the reel RL held parallel to the first reel holding unit 61, the reel RL rotates while being held by the first reel holding unit 61.
[0028] In this embodiment, the first reel holding section 61 has guide members 71 arranged at intervals that allow the reel RL to be housed, and the reel RL is held between these pair of guide members 71.
[0029] In Figure 6, the first reel holder 61 is equipped with a downwardly opening hook-shaped first engagement portion 73 at the upper end of a pair of plate-shaped guide members 71, and a protruding stopper 74 is provided at the rear lower part of the first reel holder 61. The base 73a of the first engagement portion 73 and the base 74a of the stopper 74 are each mounted sandwiched between the pair of guide members 71. The first engagement portion 73 engages with the first support bar 48 from above. As a result, the first reel holder 61 can swing along the vertical plane (YZ plane) in the feeding direction of the carrier tape CT, around the first support bar 48.
[0030] In Figures 5 and 6, the second reel holding section 62 comprises a pair of guide plates 81 facing each other in the X direction, a plurality of reel receiving sections 82 provided between the pair of guide plates 81, and a reel operating section 83 attached to the guide plates 81. The plurality of reel receiving sections 82 consist of a cylindrical first spacer 82a and a second spacer 82b extending in the X direction, and a rod-shaped third spacer 82c extending in the Y direction. These three spacers (first spacer 82a, second spacer 82b, and third spacer 82c) connect the pair of guide plates 81, separating them in the X direction by a distance slightly larger than the width dimension of the reel RL. Therefore, the second reel holding section 62 can hold the reel RL within the space enclosed by the three spacers (first spacer 82a, second spacer 82b, and third spacer 82c) and the pair of guide plates 81.
[0031] The pair of guide plates 81 are parallel to the vertical plane (YZ plane) along the feeding direction (Y direction) of the carrier tape CT. Therefore, the second reel holding unit 62 can hold the reel RL in an upright position that is almost parallel to the vertical plane along the feeding direction of the carrier tape CT. The second reel holding unit 62 also holds the reel RL in a rotatable state. As a result, when the parts supply unit 22 pulls in the carrier tape CT unwound from the reel RL held by the second reel holding unit 62, the reel RL rotates while being held by the second reel holding unit 62.
[0032] In the second reel holding section 62, the reel receiving section 82, which consists of three spacers (first spacer 82a, second spacer 82b, and third spacer 82c), supports the reel RL within the second reel holding section 62 by contacting the reel RL, which is positioned between the pair of guide plates 81. In the second reel holding section 62, the space enclosed by the pair of guide plates 81 and the reel receiving section 82, which consists of three spacers (first spacer 82a, second spacer 82b, and third spacer 82c), is a replenishment reel mounting space HRS that opens upward to receive the replenishment reel RLB (Figure 6).
[0033] In this embodiment, the second reel holding section 62 includes a pair of guide plates 81 arranged at intervals that allow the reel RL to be housed, and a plurality of reel receiving sections 82 that contact the reel RL between the pair of guide plates 81, and is configured to hold the reel RL in the space enclosed by the pair of guide plates 81 and the plurality of reel receiving sections 82.
[0034] In Figures 6 and 7, the reel operating section 83 is fixed at its rear end (operator side) to the lower part of the guide plate 81, and its front end (parts supply device 1B side) protrudes forward from the guide plate 81 and extends into the space sandwiched between a pair of guide members 71. The portion of the reel operating section 83 that protrudes forward from the guide plate 81 (hereinafter referred to as the "protruding portion 83T") has its intermediate portion pivotally connected (swingably coupled) to the guide member 71 of the first reel holding section 61 by a connecting portion 84 that extends in the X-axis direction. As a result, the second reel holding section 62 can swing along a vertical plane (YZ plane) in line with the feeding direction of the carrier tape CT, and therefore the reel operating section 83 can also swing within that vertical plane (YZ plane). The tip portion 83S of the protruding portion 83T, which extends in a direction away from the second reel holding portion 62 than the connecting portion 84, enters the space sandwiched between the pair of guide members 71 and is in a region above the stopper 74.
[0035] In this embodiment, the first reel holding portion 61 and the second reel holding portion 62 are directly and swingably coupled, and the first reel holding portion 61 and the second reel holding portion 62 form a link mechanism.
[0036] In Figures 6 and 7, a pair of guide plates 81 have downward-opening hook-shaped second engagement portions 85 formed on their lower rear ends. The second engagement portions 85 can be engaged with the second support bar 49 from above (Figure 7).
[0037] Returning to Figure 5, the reel holding unit 32 comprises a supported portion (first engaging portion 73 and second engaging portion 85) that is supported by the reel holding unit support portion (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49). The reel holding unit 32 is supported by engaging the supported portion (first engaging portion 73 and second engaging portion 85) with the reel holding unit support portion (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) from above. Specifically, the reel holding unit support portion (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) supports the reel holding unit 32 by engaging the first engaging portion 73 with the first support bar 48 and the second engaging portion 85 with the second support bar 49 from above.
[0038] The first support bar 48 and the second support bar 49 are rod-shaped members with no irregularities on their outer circumference, and the supported parts (first engaging part 73 and second engaging part 85) are slidable along the first support bar 48 and the second support bar 49. Therefore, the reel holding unit 32 supported by the first support bar 48 and the second support bar 49 can move along the first support bar 48 and the second support bar 49 while being supported by the reel holding unit support part (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49). In other words, the reel holding unit support part (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) can support multiple reel holding units 32 in a state where they can slide freely in the direction of their arrangement (the direction of arrow W shown in Figure 4). This makes it possible for an operator to change the position of the reel holding unit 32 in the direction of arrangement (X direction) without removing it from the reel holding unit support part (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49).
[0039] As described above, the reel holding device 1C in this embodiment includes a reel holding unit 32 that holds a reel RL, and a reel holding unit support section (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) that holds multiple reel holding units 32 in a parallel direction in which multiple parts supply units 22 are arranged in parallel. The reel holding unit support section consists of two support bars (a first support bar 48 and a second support bar 49) that extend in the parallel direction of the reel holding unit 32, and the reel holding unit 32 is configured to slide in the parallel direction of the parts supply units 22 by engaging a first engaging portion 73 and a second engaging portion 85, which are supported portions, with these first support bar 48 and second support bar 49 from above.
[0040] Conventionally, the mounting position of the reel holding unit 32 in the reel holding unit support section (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) was limited to a plurality of mounting slots partitioned in the X direction. When changing the mounting position, it was necessary to remove the reel holding unit 32 from the existing mounting slot and reattach it to a different mounting slot. In contrast, in the reel holding unit support section (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49) of this embodiment, there is no concept of slots, so the reel holding unit 32 can be mounted in a convenient position, and moreover, it is supported in a slidable state, so even after mounting, it is easy to perform tasks such as changing the position or temporarily shifting the position for inspection and confirmation. Therefore, a reel holding device 1C that is superior in terms of workability compared to conventional devices can be provided.
[0041] In Figure 7, the reel holding unit 32, supported by the reel holding unit support section (first support bar 48 and second support bar 49), bends around the connecting section 84 due to its own weight, and assumes a position where the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 is facing downward. In this position, where the second engaging section 85 of the second reel holding section 62 engages with the second support bar 49 and the reel operating section 83 is facing downward (as shown in Figure 7), the position of the reel holding unit 32 will hereafter be referred to as the "first position." The position of the second reel holding section 62 with the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 facing downward (Figure 7) will hereafter be referred to as the "downward position."
[0042] When the reel holding unit 32 is in the first position (Figure 7), and the operator grasps the rear end of the second reel holding part 62 and pulls it diagonally upward and backward (arrow P1 shown in Figure 8), the second engaging part 85 of the second reel holding part 62 disengages from the second support bar 49, and the first reel holding part 61 is pulled upward and backward by the second reel holding part 62 via the connecting part 84. Then, when the stopper 74 of the first reel holding part 61 contacts the second support bar 49 from below, the second reel holding part 62 can no longer be pulled up (Figure 8).
[0043] In this manner, the position of the reel holding unit 32 (Figure 8) in which the second reel holding part 62 is pulled upward and rearward, causing the stopper 74 of the first reel holding part 61 to contact the second support bar 49, will be hereinafter referred to as the "second position." When the second reel holding part 62 is in this second position, the second reel holding part 62 maintains a downward position with the tip 83S of the reel operating part 83 facing downward.
[0044] When the operator lowers the rear end of the second reel holding part 62 downwards from the state in which the reel holding unit 32 is in the "second position" (Figure 8) (arrow P2 shown in Figure 9), the reel operating part 83 comes into contact with the second support bar 49 from above, and then the reel operating part 83 swings in a downward direction around the connecting part 84 while maintaining contact with the second support bar 49. When the second support bar 49 is sandwiched between the stopper 74 and the reel operating part 83, the operator is unable to lower the second reel holding part 62 any further (Figure 9).
[0045] The position of the reel holding unit 32 when the second reel holding part 62 can no longer be lowered (Figure 9) will hereafter be referred to as the "third position". When the reel holding unit 32 is in the third position, the second reel holding part 62 is in a position where the tip 83S of the reel operating part 83 is facing upward. The position of the second reel holding part 62 when the reel holding unit 32 is in the third position and the tip 83S of the reel operating part 83 is facing upward (Figure 9) will hereafter be referred to as the "upward position".
[0046] In Figure 2, the feeder cart 21 of the parts supply device 1B has a receiving space 21S in its central part that opens to the rear. The feeder cart 21 also has a horizontal bar 21B extending in the X direction at its rear, and the lower surface of the horizontal bar 21B is equipped with the aforementioned pair of left and right connecting pins 21P that protrude downward.
[0047] When connecting the reel holding device 1C to the feeder cart 21 of the parts supply device 1B, the operator first positions the reel holding device 1C behind the feeder cart 21, as shown in Figure 10. At this time, the reel holding unit 32 is positioned in the first position.
[0048] Once the operator positions the reel holding device 1C behind the feeder cart 21, they move the reel holding device 1C closer to the feeder cart 21 (Figure 11(a) → Figure 11(b)). As a result, the leading edge of the reel holding device 1C (the leading edges of the left and right trolley bases 41) moves towards the inside of the feeder cart 21, with the inner surfaces of the left and right alignment sections 55 guided by the outer surface of the feeder cart 21.
[0049] As the reel holding device 1C moves toward the inside of the feeder cart 21, the leading end of the reel holding device 1C is positioned laterally (in the X direction) relative to the feeder cart 21 by the left and right alignment parts 55. Then, as the reel holding device 1C moves further, the connecting bar 46 of the trolley 31 comes into contact with a predetermined location on the feeder cart 21 from the rear, positioning it in the front-to-back direction (in the Y direction).
[0050] When the trolley 31 is positioned in the Y direction relative to the feeder cart 21, the left and right connecting pins 21P provided on the feeder cart 21 interlock between the left and right gripping members 47S of the left and right chuck mechanisms 47 provided on the reel holding device 1C. As a result, the left and right connecting pins 21P are chucked by the left and right chuck mechanisms 47 (Figure 12), and the reel holding device 1C becomes connected to the feeder cart 21 (Figure 11(b)). When the trolley 31 is pulled away from the feeder cart 21 from this state in which the connecting pins 21P are chucked by the chuck mechanisms 47, the left and right gripping members 47S are pushed open by the connecting pins 21P, the chuck is released, and the trolley 31 can be separated from the feeder cart 21.
[0051] When the reel holding device 1C is connected to the feeder cart 21, as shown in Figure 2, the front part of the first reel holding portion 61 of the reel holding unit 32 of the reel holding device 1C is located within the receiving space 21S of the feeder cart 21. The rear part of the first reel holding portion 61 is located behind the feeder cart 21.
[0052] Once the reel holding device 1C is connected to the feeder cart 21 as described above, the operator has the reel holding unit 32 hold the reel RL. To do this, first, the operator moves the reel holding unit 32 from its first position to the second position by pulling the second reel holding section 62 upward and rearward (Figure 7 → Figure 8). Then, once the reel holding unit 32 is in the second position, the operator moves the reel holding unit 32 to the third position by lowering the rear end of the second reel holding section 62 (Figure 8 → Figure 9) (Figures 9 and 13).
[0053] As shown in Figure 13, when the reel holding unit 32 is in the third position, the second reel holding portion 62 is in an upward position with the tip portion 83S of the reel operating portion 83 facing upward. In this upward position, a workspace SGS appears on the second reel holding portion 62, in the area between the reel operating portion 83 (specifically the protruding portion 83T) and a part of the reel receiving portion 82 (first spacer 82a), on which the reel RL can be placed (Figure 13).
[0054] When the reel holding unit 32 is positioned in the third position (with the second reel holding part 62 facing upward), and the work space SGS appears on the reel holding unit 32, the operator places the reel RL, which will become the current reel RLA, in the work space SGS, and also places the reel RL, which will become the replenishment reel RLB, in the replenishment reel placement space HRS (Figure 13).
[0055] The worker places the reel RL on the work space SGS and then pulls out the carrier tape CT from the reel RL. Then, the worker inserts the leading end of the pulled-out carrier tape CT into the tape insertion opening 22G at the rear of the parts supply unit 22, which is mounted on the feeder base 21F of the feeder cart 21 (Figure 14).
[0056] Thus, in this embodiment, the workspace SGS that appears when the reel holding unit 32 is positioned in the third position is a workspace for an operator to place the reel RL on it, pull out the carrier tape CT from the placed reel RL, and insert it into the parts supply unit 22.
[0057] When the leading end of the carrier tape CT, which has been pulled out from the reel RL placed on the workspace SGS, is inserted into the tape insertion slot 22G of the parts supply unit 22, the parts supply unit 22 begins to pull in the carrier tape CT. As a result, the reel RL on the workspace SGS is pulled forward (towards the parts supply unit 22) through the carrier tape CT, and thereafter the reel RL becomes the current reel RLA.
[0058] The reel RL on the workspace SGS, which has become the current reel RLA, rotates as the carrier tape CT is pulled forward by the parts supply unit 22. However, since the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 is facing upward, the current reel RLA rotates (rotates in place) on the reel operating section 83, i.e., on the workspace SGS. In other words, the second reel holding section 62 maintains the state in which it holds the reel RL on the workspace SGS even after the parts supply unit 22 has started to pull in the carrier tape CT of the reel RL on the workspace SGS.
[0059] After inserting the leading end of the carrier tape CT, which has been pulled out from the reel RL (current reel RLA) placed on the work space SGS, into the parts supply unit 22, the operator pulls up the second reel holding unit 62 (Figure 14 → Figure 15). As a result, the reel holding unit 32 swings around the connecting part 84 and takes the second position (Figure 15).
[0060] When the reel holding unit 32 is in the second position, the second reel holding section 62 is in a downward position with the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 facing downward. When the second reel holding section 62 changes from an upward position to a downward position, the current reel RLA placed on the work space SGS moves forward and downward by its own weight, guided by the reel operating section 83, and is housed between the pair of guide members 71 that constitute the first reel holding section 61 (Figure 15).
[0061] In Figure 15, the front portion of the outer circumference of the current reel RLA housed in the first reel holding section 61 is in contact with one of the two spacer members 72 provided on the first reel holding section 61 (the spacer member indicated by the reference numeral "72a" in Figure 15), and the tip portion 83S of the reel operating section 83 is also in contact with it. As a result, the current reel RLA is supported between the pair of guide members 71 of the first reel holding section 61 by the spacer member 72 and the reel operating section 83 (Figure 15).
[0062] Thus, in this embodiment, the spacer member 72 is a contact portion that abuts against the portion of the outer circumference of the reel RL held by the first reel holding portion 61 that is in front of the central axis of the reel RL (i.e., on the first direction side).
[0063] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the second reel holding unit 62 can be changed between an upward position (first position) with the tip 83S of the reel operating unit 83 facing upward relative to the first reel holding unit 61, and a downward position (second position) with the tip 83S of the reel operating unit 83 facing downward. When the second reel holding unit 62 is in the upward position, it can place a reel RL on it and creates a workspace SGS that can maintain the state of holding the reel RL even after the parts supply unit 22 starts pulling in the carrier tape CT. When the second reel holding unit 62 is in the downward position, the reel RL placed in the workspace SGS is guided by the reel operating unit 83 and fed to the first reel holding unit 61.
[0064] Therefore, the operator can move the reel RL on the workspace SGS to the first reel holder 61 at any time by selecting the timing for changing the second reel holder 62 from an upward position to a downward position. In other words, the operator can move the reel RL on the workspace SGS to the first reel holder 61 at their own discretion and through their own operation. Therefore, there is no risk of the current reel RLA being moved to the first reel holder 61, which is out of the operator's reach, without the operator's knowledge.
[0065] The replenishment reel RLB, held within the replenishment reel mounting space HRS of the second reel holding section 62, remains held within the replenishment reel mounting space HRS even when the reel operating section 83 changes from an upward position to a downward position. In detail, when the second reel holding section 62 changes from an upward position to a downward position, the replenishment reel RLB within the replenishment reel mounting space HRS moves forward and downward along the third spacer 82c, but comes to a stationary position when it contacts the first spacer 82a, and maintains that state (Figure 15).
[0066] After feeding the reel RL (current reel RLA) on the work space SGS into the first reel holding section 61 as described above, the operator moves the second reel holding section 62 forward and downward so that it is closer to the first reel holding section 61 (arrow P3 shown in Figure 16). Then, by engaging the second engaging section 85 provided on the second reel holding section 62 with the second support bar 49 of the trolley 31, the reel holding unit 32 is positioned in the first position (Figure 16). Due to the movement of the second reel holding section 62 (reel operating section 83) during this time, the first reel holding section 61 swings around the first support bar 48 in a direction that raises its front end, and the current reel RLA, including its front half, is positioned within the receiving space 21S of the feeder cart 21 (Figure 16).
[0067] When the reel holding unit 32 is in the first position, the current reel RLA is supported at its front end by a contact portion consisting of a spacer member 72 provided on the first reel holding portion 61, and at its rear end by the rear end of the concave bottom surface 21M of the feeder cart 21 which forms the receiving space 21S (Figure 16). In this state, the center of gravity GV of the current reel RLA is located between the contact portion (spacer member 72) and the rear end of the bottom surface 21M. Therefore, even when the carrier tape CT of the current reel RLA is pulled out by the parts supply unit 22 and a rotational force is applied to the current reel RLA by the tension of the carrier tape CT, the current reel RLA rotates stably in place.
[0068] As described above, even if the reel holding unit 32 is displaced from the second position to the first position, the replenishment reel RLB in the replenishment reel mounting space HRS remains positioned within the replenishment reel mounting space HRS (Figure 16). Once the reel holding unit 32 is in the first position, the operator pulls out the carrier tape CT from the replenishment reel RLB and inserts its leading edge into the tape insertion opening 22G of the parts supply unit 22 (Figure 16).
[0069] The parts supply device 1B pulls in and transports the carrier tape CT from the current reel RLA, which is held by the first reel holding unit 61 located in the first position, and supplies parts BH (Figure 16). When the supply of parts BH by the parts supply unit 22 progresses and the current reel RLA runs out of parts, that is, when the carrier tape CT for the current reel RLA is depleted, the current reel RLA becomes a used reel RL, so the parts supply unit 22 switches the target to pull in to the carrier tape CT unwound from the replenishment reel RLB placed in the replenishment reel placement space HRS, and continues to supply parts BH (Figure 17).
[0070] When the parts supply unit 22 begins to pull the carrier tape CT from the replenishment reel RLB, which is placed in the replenishment reel mounting space HRS, the previous replenishment reel RLB switches to the current reel RLA. This reel RL, which has become the new current reel RLA, rotates (rotates in place) within the replenishment reel mounting space HRS. In other words, the second reel holding unit 62 maintains its position in the replenishment reel mounting space HRS even after the parts supply unit 22 has started to pull the carrier tape CT from reel RL on the replenishment reel mounting space HRS.
[0071] Once the worker confirms that the parts supply unit 22 has begun to pull in the carrier tape CT of the current reel RLA on the replenishment reel mounting space HRS, the worker proceeds to discharge the used reel RL from the first reel holder 61. To do this, the worker first pulls the second reel holder 62 upward and rearward (arrow P1 shown in Figure 18) to displace the reel holder unit 32 to the second position (Figure 18).
[0072] When the reel holding unit 32 is displaced to the second position, the reel operating section 83 moves upward and rearward together with the second reel holding section 62, and the first reel holding section 61 is also pulled up towards the rear end through the connecting section 84 (Figure 18). As a result, the first reel holding section 61 swings downward at its front end around the first support bar 48, and the used reel RL is moved to the rear of the receiving space 21S of the feeder cart 21, i.e., the reel discharge position, by the spacer member 72 acting as a contact point (Figure 18). At the time the reel holding unit 32 is displaced to the second position, the straight-line distance between the spacer member 72 and the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 is smaller than the outer diameter of the reel RL, so the used reel RL that has moved to the discharge position does not fall but remains in the discharge position.
[0073] Once the used reel RL has moved to the discharge position, the operator moves the rear of the second reel holder 62 downward (arrow P2 shown in Figure 19). This causes the second reel holder 62 to swing in the YZ plane around the second support bar 49, displacing the reel holding unit 32 to the third position, and the second reel holder 62 to face upward (Figure 19).
[0074] When the second reel holding section 62 is in an upward position, the straight-line distance between the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 and the spacer member 72 becomes larger than the outer diameter of the reel RL. As a result, the used reel RL falls downward from the discharge position due to its own weight and is discharged into the discharge section 51 (Figure 19). As described above, the spacer member 72, acting as a contact point, presses the used reel RL backward and moves it to the discharge position. This "backward" direction is opposite to the forward direction (first direction), which is the feeding direction of the carrier tape CT.
[0075] Thus, in the reel holding device 1C of this embodiment, used reels RL are not automatically ejected, but are ejected at the operator's discretion and through operator operation.
[0076] As can be seen from the above explanation, when the second reel holding part 62 is in a downward position (second position), the position of the reel operating part 83 is a position that prevents the reel RL held by the first reel holding part 61 from being discharged from the first reel holding part 61 (first position; Figure 18), and when the second reel holding part 62 is in an upward position (first position), the position of the reel operating part 83 is a position that allows the reel RL held by the first reel holding part 61 to be discharged from the first reel holding part 61 (second position; Figure 19).
[0077] In other words, in the reel holding device 1C of this embodiment, when the reel holding unit 32 is displaced from the second position to the third position, and the second reel holding part 62 changes from a downward position to an upward position, the reel operating part 83 provided on the second reel holding part 62 is displaced from a position (first position) that prevents the current reel RLA held by the first reel holding part 61 from being discharged to the discharge part 51, to a position (second position) that allows the current reel RLA, which has been moved by the contact part, the spacer member 72, to be discharged to the discharge part 51 (Figure 18 → Figure 19).
[0078] In this embodiment, the second reel holder 62 functions as an operating means that moves the spacer member 72, which acts as a contact portion, backward to discharge the current reel RLA from the first reel holder 61. That is, as the second reel holder 62, acting as an operating means, swings relative to the first reel holder 61, the reel operating portion 83 provided on the second reel holder 62 is displaced between a first position that prevents the reel RL held in the first reel holder 61 from being discharged from the first reel holder 61, and a second position that allows the reel RL, which has been moved by the spacer member 72, which acts as a contact portion, to be discharged from the first reel holder 61.
[0079] When the used reel RL is discharged to the discharge section 51 by the reel holding unit 32 being displaced from the second position to the third position, the operator removes the reel RL, which has become the new current reel RLA, from the replenishment reel placement space HRS (arrow L shown in Figure 19), and places it in the newly appeared work space SGS (Figure 20). Then, the operator places the new replenishment reel RLB to be replenished in the newly vacant replenishment reel placement space HRS (Figure 21). This results in the same state as in Figure 14, and by repeating the same operation thereafter, the parts supply operation by the parts supply unit 22 can be continued.
[0080] As described above, the reel holding device 1C in this embodiment includes a trolley 31, a first reel holding unit 61 that is pivotably mounted on the trolley 31 and holds the current reel RLA, and a second reel holding unit 62 that is directly pivotably coupled to the first reel holding unit 61 and holds the replenishment reel RLB. When the second reel holding unit 62 is operated, the first reel holding unit 61 pivots relative to the trolley 31 in response, causing the used reel RL to be discharged from the first reel holding unit 61, or the replenishment reel RLB placed on the second reel holding unit 62 to be sent to the first reel holding unit 61 as a new current reel RLA.
[0081] Therefore, in the reel holding device 1C of this embodiment, even after the reel RL (current reel RLA) has been set in the first reel holding unit 61, the reel RL can be easily retrieved at any time, improving work efficiency when it becomes necessary to retrieve the reel RL in use, such as during setup changes. Furthermore, the first reel holding unit 61 and the second reel holding unit 62 constitute a single reel holding unit 32, and since this reel holding unit 32 is attached to the trolley 31, the configuration of the reel holding device 1C can be simplified, and maintenance is also easy.
[0082] Furthermore, in this embodiment, a workspace SGS is formed that holds the reel RL before it is fed into the first reel holding unit 61 and allows the reel RL to rotate in place. Therefore, after performing the parts verification work in the workspace SGS, the worker can feed the reel RL into the first reel holding unit 61 at any time.
[0083] As described above, the reel holding device 1C in this embodiment includes a first reel holding section 61 for holding the current reel RLA and a second reel holding section 62 for holding the replenishment reel RLB. The second reel holding section 62 can be changed between an upward position, where the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 faces upward relative to the first reel holding section 61, and a downward position, where the tip 83S of the reel operating section 83 faces downward. When the second reel holding section 62 is in the upward position, it can place the reel RL and create a workspace SGS that can hold the reel RL even after the parts supply unit 22 starts retracting the carrier tape CT. When the second reel holding section 62 is in the downward position, it can feed the reel RL placed in the workspace SGS to the first reel holding section 61. As a result, the reel RL in the workspace SGS can be fed to the first reel holding section 61 at any time, making it easier to perform parts verification work targeting the current reel RLA. If it is necessary to remove the reel RL for parts verification, the larger the outer diameter of the reel RL, the heavier it will be. Therefore, the effect of this embodiment becomes greater with larger diameter reels.
[0084] While embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not limited to those described above, and various modifications are possible. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the contact portion that abuts against the outer circumference of the current reel RLA held by the first reel holding portion 61 and moves the current reel RLA was provided on the first reel holding portion 61. However, the contact portion does not necessarily have to be provided on the first reel holding portion 61, and may be provided on a mechanism that swings independently of the first reel holding portion 61 around the X axis. In the above-described embodiment, the contact portion that presses the used reel RL backward constituted the first reel holding portion 61, and the configuration was such that the contact portion was moved backward by swinging the first reel holding portion 61 around the first support bar 48. However, this is not the case if the contact portion is not provided on the first reel holding portion 61.
[0085] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the second reel holding portion 62 was made capable of changing between the first and second positions, but the second reel holding portion 62 may be made capable of changing to positions other than the first and second positions. In other words, it is sufficient that the second reel holding portion 62 can be displaced to at least the first and second positions.
[0086] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the second reel holding portion 62 was directly and pivotably coupled to the first reel holding portion 61, but the second reel holding portion 62 may also be indirectly and pivotably coupled to the first reel holding portion 61.
[0087] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the reel holding unit support portion that holds multiple reel holding units 32 arranged in parallel in the direction in which multiple parts supply units 22 are arranged in parallel consisted of two support bars (a first support bar 48 and a second support bar 49). However, the support bar may include at least one support bar extending in the parallel direction of the multiple parts supply units 22. The supported portion of the reel holding unit 32 (a first engaging portion 73 and a second engaging portion 85 in the above-described embodiment) should engage with the support bar from above.
