Description

METHOD FOR INSPECTING AND MANUFACTURING METAL PACKAGING CONTAINER, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PACKAGING BODY, PACKAGING CONTAINER ASSEMBLY, AND PACKAGING BODY ASSEMBLY

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for inspecting and manufacturing metal packaging containers, a method for manufacturing packaging bodies, and a packaging container assembly and a packaging assembly. The present invention also relates to a method for using indicators to adjust the manufacturing method of packaging containers and packaging bodies.

[0002] Conventionally, in the production management of metal packaging containers such as drums, pre-shipment inspections have included a visual appearance inspection of the seam immediately after welding the body of the packaging container, and an airtightness inspection of the packaging container.

[0003] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a method for inspecting the airtightness of a sealed drum placed in an airtight chamber. More specifically, the method of Patent Document 1 is a method for inspecting the airtightness of a sealed drum, the drum including a cylindrical body, a bottom plate that closes the bottom opening of the body with a lower chime, and a top plate that closes the top opening of the body with an upper chime. The method includes a vacuuming step of simultaneously evacuating the interior of the drum and the chamber to create a vacuum, a pressing step of pressing and holding the bottom plate and the top plate together after the vacuuming step, a high-pressure sealing step of sealing helium gas into the drum until the pressure reaches atmospheric pressure or higher after the pressing step, and a micro-leak inspection step of inspecting for helium gas leaks from the drum into the chamber after the high-pressure sealing step. The method of Patent Document 1 enables highly accurate airtight inspection of a drum at the micro-leak level.

Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram showing one embodiment of a packaging container formed in step S10. Fig. 3 is a process diagram showing one embodiment of a method for manufacturing a packaging container of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a process diagram showing another embodiment of a method for manufacturing a packaging container of the present invention. Fig. 5 is a process diagram showing one embodiment of a second method for manufacturing a packaging body of the present invention. Fig. 6 is a process diagram showing one embodiment of a third method for manufacturing a packaging body of the present invention.

[0019] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. For the sake of convenience, descriptions of parts that overlap in each embodiment will be omitted. Not all components of the embodiments are essential, and some components may be omitted. However, the embodiments described below are merely examples of the present invention and do not limit the present invention.

[0020] <<Method for inspecting metal packaging containers>> This is an inspection method that includes forming a body by forming and seam welding sheet metal, attaching a top plate and a bottom plate to the body to form a packaging container, and then performing a burr inspection to check the degree of burrs on the seam of the body.

[0021] In one aspect of the present invention, the inspection method performs burr inspection on metal packaging containers, thereby reducing the risk of leakage of specific contents even when the specific contents are stored in the containers. Here, the specific contents include, for example, a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0022] In one aspect of the present invention, reducing the risk of leakage of the contents means that leakage is less likely to occur than in an aspect in which burr inspection is not performed, and preferably means that leakage does not occur.

[0023] Fig. 1 is a process diagram showing one embodiment of the metal packaging container inspection method of the present invention. As shown in Fig. 1, the metal packaging container inspection method of the present invention includes forming a body by forming and seam welding a metal sheet, attaching a top plate and a bottom plate to the body to form a packaging container (step S10), and then performing a burr inspection to inspect the seam of the body for the degree of burrs (step S20).

[0024] Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram showing one embodiment of the packaging container formed in step S10. As shown in Fig. 2, the packaging container 100 formed in step S10 has a top plate 11 and a bottom plate 12 attached to a body 10. Although not shown in Fig. 2, the packaging container 100 may further have a ring band attached to the body 10, and / or the outer surface of the packaging container 100 may be painted. However, it is preferable that the outer surface of the packaging container 100 be painted in order to make burr inspection easier.

[0025] Then, step S20 includes performing a burr inspection to inspect the seam portion 10a of the body 10 of the packaging container 100 for the degree of burrs.

[0026] In the present invention, the term "packaging container" refers to a container capable of storing contents, preferably an empty container that can be sealed after storing contents. For example, the packaging container may be an empty drum, specifically a tight-head drum. In the present invention, a "metal packaging container" (hereinafter also referred to as a "packaging container") refers to a packaging container manufactured primarily from metal. Here, the metal that is the primary material of the packaging container of the present invention is not particularly limited, and examples include iron and aluminum. Of these, iron is preferably used as the primary metal. The packaging container of the present invention may be manufactured using only one type of metal, an alloy manufactured using two or more types of metals, or an alloy manufactured using one or more types of metal and a non-metal. The packaging container of the present invention may be manufactured using an alloy such as steel or stainless steel. The packaging container of the present invention is preferably manufactured using steel. In addition, in the present invention, the term "sheet metal" refers to a plate-shaped member used to form the packaging container of the present invention, i.e., a plate-shaped member primarily made of the above-mentioned metal. In one aspect of the present invention, the metal packaging container may have a layer containing a metal phosphate on its inner surface. Specifically, the metal phosphate may be iron phosphate or zinc phosphate. In another embodiment of the present invention, the metal packaging container may have a resin layer on the inner surface. Specifically, the resin layer may be an epoxy-based resin layer or a phenol-based resin layer.

[0027] In one aspect of the present invention, the size of the packaging container is not particularly limited, and for example, the volume of the portion that accommodates the contents may be 10 L or more, 20 L or more, 40 L or more, 60 L or more, 80 L or more, 100 L or more, 150 L or more, 200 L or more, or 300 L or more, and may be 450 L or less, 400 L or less, 350 L or less, 300 L or less, 250 L or less, or 200 L or less. The shape of the packaging container of the present invention is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, cylindrical.

[0028] Furthermore, from the viewpoint of further exerting the advantages of the present invention, in one embodiment of the present invention, the packaging container is preferably one for storing a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0029] In the present invention, the term "package" refers to the above-mentioned packaging container in which contents are stored. For example, the package may be a drum containing contents. In one embodiment of the present invention, the contents may be a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0030] In one aspect of the present invention, "highly unsaturated fatty acid" refers to a fatty acid having three or more double bonds, a type of unsaturated bond, particularly a fatty acid having 18 or more carbon atoms and three or more double bonds. Furthermore, highly unsaturated fatty acids may be, for example, fatty acids having 20 or more carbon atoms and three or more or four or more double bonds, or fatty acids having 20 or more carbon atoms and five or more double bonds. For example, the number of carbon atoms in highly unsaturated fatty acids may be 15 or more, 16 or more, 17 or more, 18 or more, 19 or more, or 20 or more, and may be 30 or less, 28 or less, 26 or less, 24 or less, or 22 or less. For example, the number of double bonds in highly unsaturated fatty acids may be 3 or more, 4 or more, or 5 or more, and may be 8 or less, 7 or less, or 6 or less.

[0031] Specific examples of highly unsaturated fatty acids include α-linolenic acid (18:3 n-3), γ-linolenic acid (18:3 n-6), dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (20:3 n-6), arachidonic acid (20:4 n-6), eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5 n-3, hereinafter also abbreviated as "EPA"), docosapentaenoic acid (22:5 n-6), and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6 n-3, hereinafter also abbreviated as "DHA").

[0032] In the present invention, the "highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester" is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include C 6 alkyl esters of the above-mentioned highly unsaturated fatty acids. 1 ~C 6 Examples of the "highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester" include alkyl esters. Specifically, they may be ethyl esters. Therefore, in the present invention, specific examples of the "highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester" include eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester (hereinafter also abbreviated as "EPA-E") and omega-3 fatty acid ethyl esters (omega-3-acid ethyl esters). Here, the omega-3 fatty acid ethyl ester is a highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester containing EPA-E and docosahexaenoic acid ethyl ester (hereinafter also abbreviated as "DHA-E") as the main components.

[0033] Furthermore, in one embodiment of the present invention, a "composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component" may contain one type of highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component, or may contain a mixture of two or more types of highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl esters as a main component. In one embodiment of the present invention, the composition refers to a composition in which the total proportion of highly unsaturated fatty acids among the constituent fatty acids of the composition is 50 area% or more, 60 area% or more, 70 area% or more, 80 area% or more, 84 area% or more, 90 area% or more, 95 area% or more, or 96.5 area% or more. For example, this composition may be a composition containing EPA-E as a main component, or a composition containing omega-3 fatty acid ethyl ester as a main component. Here, in a composition containing EPA-E as the main component, the proportion of EPA in the constituent fatty acids may be 50 area% or more, 60 area% or more, 70 area% or more, 80 area% or more, 84 area% or more, 90 area% or more, 95 area% or more, or 96.5 area% or more, preferably 96.5 area% or more. In a composition containing omega-3 fatty acid ethyl as the main component, the total proportion of EPA and DHA in the constituent fatty acids may be 50 area% or more, 60 area% or more, 70 area% or more, 80 area% or more, 84 area% or more, 90 area% or more, 95 area% or more, or 96.5 area% or more, preferably 84 area% or more. Note that "area%" here refers to a value calculated based on the gas chromatography analysis conditions and analysis method described in WO 2020 / 122167. In the oil chemistry field, "area%" is used as being almost synonymous with "weight%".

[0034] In one aspect of the present invention, a "composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a major component" refers to a composition in which the total proportion of highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl esters in the composition is 50% by weight or more, 60% by weight or more, 70% by weight or more, 80% by weight or more, 84% by weight or more, 90% by weight or more, 95% by weight or more, or 96.5% by weight or more. For example, this composition may be a composition containing EPA-E as a major component, or a composition containing omega-3 fatty acid ethyl ester as a major component. Here, in a composition containing EPA-E as a major component, the proportion of EPA in the composition may be 50% by weight or more, 60% by weight or more, 70% by weight or more, 80% by weight or more, 84% by weight or more, 90% by weight or more, 95% by weight or more, or 96.5% by weight or more, preferably 96.5% by weight or more. In a composition containing omega-3 fatty acid ethyl as a main component, the total proportion of EPA and DHA in the composition may be 50% by weight or more, 60% by weight or more, 70% by weight or more, 80% by weight or more, 84% by weight or more, 90% by weight or more, 95% by weight or more, or 96.5% by weight or more, and is preferably 84% by weight or more.

[0035] In one aspect of the present invention, "burrs" refer to variations in the shape of the edge of the outer sheet metal at the seam of the body of the packaging container. For example, variations in the shape of the edge of the outer sheet metal at the seam 10a shown in Fig. 2 can be cited. More specifically, in one aspect, "burrs" refer to variations in the shape of the edge, which is uneven in the direction perpendicular to the weld line and / or in the circumferential direction of the packaging container.

[0036] In one aspect of the present invention, "burr inspection" refers to inspecting the degree of burrs in the seam of a packaging container body. Here, the degree of burrs may be based on the dimensions of the burrs. Here, "burr dimensions" refer to a value obtained by determining a straight line average line from the shape of the edge of the outer sheet metal of the seam, and adding up the distance from the average line to the highest peak and the distance from the average line to the lowest valley. In the present invention, "burr dimensions" can be determined by a method based on the maximum height Ry in surface roughness (JIS B 0601:1994, JIS B 0031:1994).

[0037] Although JIS B 0051:2004 defines "burr dimensions," these burrs are generated during machining or molding processes. In other words, the shape of the "burrs" in the present invention differs from the shape of the "burrs" in JIS B 0051:2004, and therefore, the "burr dimensions" according to the present invention naturally differ from the "burr dimensions" defined in JIS B 0051:2004.

[0038] In one aspect of the present invention, the burr inspection may be performed visually. In another aspect of the present invention, the burr inspection may be performed using a shape measuring machine.

[0039] The burr inspection may also include using a limit sample as a reference. The limit sample may be created, for example, by cutting out a seam portion of a packaging container having a burr. In one aspect of the present invention, the burr dimension of the limit sample may be 1.3 mm. In the present invention, a packaging container having a smaller burr than the limit sample may be selected.

[0040] <Method for manufacturing a metal packaging container> A method for manufacturing a metal packaging container (hereinafter also referred to as "method for manufacturing a packaging container") according to one aspect of the present invention is a method for manufacturing a metal packaging container, which includes: forming a body by shaping and seam welding a metal sheet; attaching a top plate and a bottom plate to the body to form a packaging container; conducting a burr inspection to check the degree of burrs on the seam portion of the body of the packaging container; and selecting packaging containers that pass the burr inspection as products that have passed the burr inspection.

[0041] In the method for manufacturing a packaging container according to one aspect of the present invention, the risk of leakage can be reduced even when specific contents are stored in the packaging container by conducting a burr inspection and selecting products that pass the burr inspection. Here, the specific contents can include, for example, a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0042] Fig. 3 is a process diagram showing one embodiment of the method for manufacturing a packaging container of the present invention. As shown in Fig. 3, the method for manufacturing a packaging container of one embodiment of the present invention may include forming a body by forming and seam-welding a metal sheet (step S1), attaching a top plate and a bottom plate to the body to form a packaging container (step S2), conducting a burr inspection to inspect the seam portion of the body of the packaging container for the degree of burrs (step S3), and selecting a packaging container that passes the burr inspection as a product that has passed the burr inspection (step S4).

[0043] In step S1, the forming of the sheet metal is not particularly limited and can be performed, for example, by pressing, etc., according to the shape, volume, etc., of the target packaging container. Furthermore, the seam welding is not particularly limited and can be performed by well-known seam welding. Furthermore, although not essential, it is preferable to press the seam after forming the body to flatten it.

[0044] In step S2, the top plate and the bottom plate can be attached to the body using, for example, a sealant. Although not essential, it is preferable to seam the edges after attaching the top plate and the bottom plate to the body. The seamed edges are called seam sections, and are also called chimes. The shape of the chimes is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, a triple seam. More specifically, they may be triple seam round seams.

[0045] Note that the burr inspection in step S3 can be performed by referring to the above-mentioned "Metal Packaging Container Inspection Method" as appropriate, and therefore a description thereof will be omitted here.

[0046] In step S4, the selection of burr-accepting products can be based on, for example, the burr dimensions described above. Here, the specific value of the burr dimensions of burr-accepting products is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, 1.3 mm or less, 1.2 mm or less, 1.1 mm or less, 1.0 mm or less, 0.9 mm or less, 0.8 mm or less, 0.7 mm or less, 0.6 mm or less, 0.5 mm or less, 0.4 mm or less, 0.3 mm or less, 0.2 mm or less, 0.1 mm or less, or 0.0 mm. Here, a burr dimension of 0.0 mm means that there is substantially no burr.

[0047] The method for manufacturing a packaging container of the present invention can further include other steps in addition to the above-mentioned steps S1 to S4. For example, the other steps include subjecting the packaging container to an airtightness test using gas (step S3a), and selecting packaging containers that pass the airtightness test as products that have passed the airtightness test (step S3b). More specifically, this will be described with reference to FIG. 4.

[0048] Fig. 4 is a process diagram showing another embodiment of the manufacturing method of a packaging container of the present invention. As shown in Fig. 4, the manufacturing method of a packaging container of another embodiment of the present invention may include forming a body by forming and seam-welding a metal plate (step S1), attaching a top plate and a bottom plate to the body to form a packaging container (step S2), conducting an airtightness test on the packaging container using gas (step S3a), selecting the packaging container that has passed the airtightness test as a product that has passed the airtightness test (step S3b), conducting a burr test to check the degree of burrs on the seam of the body of the product that has passed the airtightness test (step S3'), and selecting the packaging container that has passed the burr test as a product that has passed the burr test (step S4).

[0049] In step S3a, the airtightness test may be performed by an air test or a helium leak test, with the helium leak test being preferred because it has higher detection sensitivity than the air test.

[0050] The air test can be performed, for example, by sealing compressed gas in a packaging container, submerging it in water for a predetermined period of time, and observing whether or not blisters form. Specifically, the air test can be performed by sealing compressed air in a packaging container, submerging it in water for 2 to 10 minutes, or 3 to 5 minutes, and observing whether or not blisters form.

[0051] The helium leak test can be carried out, for example, by injecting helium gas into a packaging container, and then reducing the pressure outside the packaging container in a vacuum chamber, thereby checking whether or not there is a helium gas leak.

[0052] The product that passes the airtightness inspection in step S3b refers to a packaging container that has undergone the airtightness inspection and is free of leaks.

[0053] <<Packaging Container Assembly>> A packaging container assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention includes 100 or more metal packaging containers, and for at least 98% of the 100 or more metal packaging containers, the dimension of the burr at the seam portion of the body of the packaging container is 1.3 mm or less, and the packaging containers are for storing a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0054] By using the packaging container assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention, the risk of leakage can be reduced even when a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component is stored.

[0055] More specifically, a packaging container assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention may include 100 or more, 120 or more, 150 or more, 180 or more, or 200 or more packaging containers. Furthermore, the upper limit of the number of packaging containers included in the packaging container assembly is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, 5,000 or less, 1,000 or less, 500 or less, or 300 or less. Furthermore, for 98% or more, 99% or more, 99.5% or more, or 100% of the packaging containers included in the packaging container assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention, the dimension of the flash at the seam portion of the body of the packaging container may be 1.3 mm or less. More specifically, the dimension of the burr may be, for example, 1.3 mm or less, 1.2 mm or less, 1.1 mm or less, 1.0 mm or less, 0.9 mm or less, 0.8 mm or less, 0.7 mm or less, 0.6 mm or less, 0.5 mm or less, 0.4 mm or less, 0.3 mm or less, 0.2 mm or less, 0.1 mm or less, or 0.0 mm. Here, a burr dimension of 0.0 mm means that there is substantially no burr.

[0056] A packaging container assembly according to one aspect of the present invention is an assembly of packaging containers that are continuously manufactured. Here, the term "continuously manufactured" means that, during the manufacturing of the packaging containers relating to the packaging container assembly, all of the packaging containers are selected as products that pass the burr inspection, and no rejected products are selected.

[0057] <<Packaging Assembly>> A packaging assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention is a packaging assembly including: a packaging container assembly including 100 or more metal packaging containers, in which 98% or more of the 100 or more packaging containers have a flash dimension of 1.3 mm or less at the seam portion of the body of the packaging container; and a composition contained in each of the packaging containers, the composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0058] According to the package assembly of one aspect of the present invention, it is possible to reduce the risk of leakage of the contained composition, that is, the composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component.

[0059] More specifically, the packaging assembly of one embodiment of the present invention may include 100 or more, 120 or more, 150 or more, 180 or more, or 200 or more packaging containers. Furthermore, the upper limit of the number of packaging containers included in the packaging assembly of one embodiment of the present invention is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, 5,000 or less, 1,000 or less, 500 or less, or 300 or less. Furthermore, for 98% or more, 99% or more, 99.5% or more, or 100% of the packaging containers included in the packaging assembly of one embodiment of the present invention, the dimension of the flash at the seam portion of the body of the packaging container may be 1.3 mm or less.

[0060] Furthermore, 98% or more of the packages constituting the packaging assembly of one embodiment of the present invention can be determined to be leak-free in a content leakage test conducted two weeks or more after the composition has been stored therein. More specifically, for example, 98% or more, 99% or more, 99.5% or more, or 100% of the packages constituting the packaging assembly of one embodiment of the present invention can be determined to be leak-free in a content leakage test conducted two weeks or more after the composition has been stored therein. In this way, a determination of "no content leakage" after two weeks or more can be made, which is preferable because it means that the packaging assembly can be manufactured, shipped, and even used without leakage. The period from storage of the composition until the content leakage inspection may be, for example, 2 weeks or more, 4 weeks or more, 8 weeks or more, 10 weeks or more, 12 weeks or more, or 16 weeks or more, and may be 30 weeks or less, 25 weeks or less, 20 weeks or less, 18 weeks or less, 16 weeks or less, 12 weeks or less, 10 weeks or less, 8 weeks or less, 4 weeks or less, or 2 weeks or less. The content leakage inspection may be conducted before shipping the package assembly. The period from this leakage inspection until shipping may be, for example, 4 weeks or less, 2 weeks or less, or 1 week or less. The number of content leakage inspections is not particularly limited and may be, for example, 1, 2, 3, or 4 times. The number of times may be 1 or more, 2 or more, 3 or more, and / or 4 or less, or 3 or less.

[0061] In one aspect of the present invention, the method of content leakage inspection is not particularly limited, and can be determined visually as appropriate based on the properties of the content, etc. For example, when a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester such as EPA-E as a main component is stored as the content, the leaked highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester such as EPA-E is oxidized and turns yellow, so if there is a yellow coloration, it can be determined that there is a content leakage, and if there is no yellow coloration, it can be determined that there is no content leakage.

[0062] A packaging assembly according to one aspect of the present invention is an assembly of packaging bodies made up of packaging bodies manufactured continuously. Here, "continuously manufactured" means that, during the manufacturing of the packaging bodies of the packaging assembly, all of the packaging bodies are selected as products that pass the burr inspection and / or the leak inspection, and no packaging bodies that fail the burr inspection and / or the leak inspection are selected.

[0063] <<Method for manufacturing a package>> In one aspect of the present invention, a method for manufacturing a package in which a composition containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester as a main component is stored in a packaging container can be provided. [0086] The present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples.

[0087] <Method for preparing a composition containing EPA-E as a main component> Fish oil was ethyl-esterified by a conventional method to prepare a fish oil ethyl ester having EPA-E of 16 area % or more in the fatty acid ethyl ester. The fish oil ethyl ester was continuously rectified using a multi-stage rectification apparatus under conditions of a column top pressure of 26.7 Pa or less and a temperature of 190°C or less, and fractionated into an initial fraction, a main fraction, and a residual fraction to obtain the main fraction. Here, the initial fraction is a fraction with a higher volatility than the main fraction, and the C 20The main components are ethyl esters of fatty acids of less than C. 20 The main component is ethyl ester of fatty acid, and EPA-E in the fatty acid ethyl ester is 70% by area or more. The residue is a fraction with lower volatility than the main fraction, and C 21 The main components are the ethyl esters of the above fatty acids.

[0088] The obtained main fraction was purified by HPLC using octadecylated silica gel as a packing material and methanol as a mobile phase to prepare a composition containing EPA-E as a main component, in which the proportion of EPA in the constituent fatty acids was 96.5 area % or more (hereinafter also referred to as "EPA-E composition").

[0089] The EPA-E composition can be prepared by referring to the methods described in, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open Nos. 04-041457, 04-128250, and 05-222392.

[0090] <Method for preparing a glyceride composition containing DHA triglyceride as the main component> Fish oil was deacidified, enzymatically treated, bleached, and deodorized by conventional methods to prepare a glyceride composition containing DHA triglyceride as the main component (hereinafter also referred to as "glyceride composition"). The glyceride composition contains 73 to 78 wt% triglycerides and 22 to 26 wt% diglycerides. The proportion of DHA among the constituent fatty acids of the composition is 55 area % or more, and the proportion of EPA is 5 area % or more.

[0091] The enzyme treatment method for preparing the glyceride composition can be carried out with reference to the methods described in, for example, JP-A-2013-55893 and WO2011 / 149040.

[0092] Example 1: A steel sheet (1.2 mm thick) was rolled into a cylindrical shape and seam-welded to form a drum body. The steel sheet was then punched, and processing such as attaching a nozzle was performed to form a top plate and a bottom plate. The body, top plate, and bottom plate were degreased and treated with a zinc phosphate coating. The treated top and bottom plates were fitted into the treated body and seamed to form a drum with a triple-seamed seam. The seam is also called a chime, and in this example, the chime is a triple-seamed round seam.

[0093] The molded drums were coated on the exterior with a resin-based paint to a film thickness of 10 μm using an airless gun. A helium leak test was conducted on the coated drums, and empty 200 L drums were produced that passed the airtightness test.

[0094] The helium leak test was performed using the following leak detection device. More specifically, helium gas was injected into the drum, and then the outside of the drum was depressurized in the vacuum chamber of the leak detection device to detect helium gas leaking from defective areas. Drums in which no helium gas leakage was detected were selected as having passed the airtightness test. The leak detection device was used with the settings described in the instruction manual to achieve a minimum φ30 μm detection capability certified by Yamaha Fine Technologies Co., Ltd.

[0095] (Leak inspection device for helium leak tests) Yamaha Fine Tech Co., Ltd. Product name: Leak tester for drums Detection capacity: Minimum φ30 μm The helium leak test is said to have 100 to 1000 times the detection capacity of conventional air tests.

[0096] A drum that had passed the airtightness test was filled with 180 kg of the EPA-E composition, and nitrogen was sealed inside, followed by sealing the drum to produce a drum filled with the EPA-E composition of Production Example 1. The proportion of EPA in the constituent fatty acids of the EPA-E composition was 96.5 area % or more. Immediately after filling, it was confirmed that the EPA-E composition had not leaked.

[0097] Production Example 2: The exterior surface of a molded drum was painted in the same manner as in Production Example 1. A helium leak test was then conducted, and empty 200-liter drums that passed the airtightness test were selected. The selected drums were then inspected for burrs at the seams of the bodies using limit samples, resulting in empty 200-liter drums that passed the burr test. The drums were filled with 180 kg of the EPA-E composition, sealed with nitrogen, and sealed to produce drums filled with the EPA-E composition of Production Example 2. The proportion of EPA in the constituent fatty acids of the EPA-E composition was 96.5% by area or more. It was confirmed that the EPA-E composition had not leaked immediately after filling.

[0098] Comparative Example 1 An empty 200 L drum that passed the airtightness test was produced in the same manner as in Production Example 1 above. Without conducting a burr inspection, the drum was filled with 180 kg of a glyceride composition containing DHA triglyceride as a main component (hereinafter also referred to as "glyceride composition"), and the drum was sealed with nitrogen and sealed to produce a drum filled with the glyceride composition according to Comparative Example 1. The glyceride composition contained 73 to 78 wt % triglycerides and 22 to 26 wt % diglycerides. The proportion of DHA among the constituent fatty acids of the composition was 55 area % or more, and the proportion of EPA was 5 area % or more. It was also confirmed that there was no leakage of the glyceride composition immediately after filling.

[0099] <Evaluation> Drums filled with the EPA-E compositions or glyceride compositions prepared in Production Examples 1 and 2 were left standing at 15 to 30°C for 4 to 6 months. Thereafter, the presence or absence of leakage of the EPA-E compositions or glyceride compositions was confirmed. The results are shown in Table 1.

[0100] The presence or absence of leakage of the EPA-E composition or glyceride composition was determined by visually inspecting the seam welds and / or the top or bottom plate seams of the drum, and if yellow coloration due to oxidized EPA-E or DHA triglyceride was found, it was determined that leakage had occurred.

[0101]

[0102] As is clear from the results in Table 1, it was found that the EPA-E composition leaked from 4 out of 150 drums according to Production Example 1. In contrast, it was found that there was no leakage of the EPA-E composition from any of the 150 drums according to Production Example 2. It was also found that there was no leakage of the glyceride composition from any of the 150 drums according to Comparative Example 1. <Reference Example> <Investigation of Leaking Drums> Of the drums according to Production Example 1, the EPA-E composition was extracted from three drums that had leaked, and the interior surfaces were washed with an alkaline detergent and dried. The drums were subjected to a burr inspection, a helium leak test, and a PT check (penetration test). The PT check was performed as follows.

[0103] (PT Check (penetration testing)) The inside and outside of a drum were cleaned with a detergent (Color Check FR-Q, manufactured by Taseto Co., Ltd.), and a red penetrant (Color Check FP-S, manufactured by Taseto Co., Ltd.) was applied to the inside. Compressed air (30 kPa) was then sealed inside the drum, and the drum was left for 24 hours with the leak point facing downwards. Thereafter, the inside and outside of the drum were cleaned with a detergent, and the leak point on the outside was applied with a developer (Color Check FD-S, manufactured by Taseto Co., Ltd.) and developed. The drum was disassembled to confirm the coloring of the seam welds.

[0104] In addition, a similar investigation was carried out on two of the drums from Production Example 1 that did not exhibit leakage of the EPA-E composition. The results are also shown in Table 2.

[0105]

[0106] As is clear from the results in Table 2, it was found that leakage of the EPA-E composition occurred even in products that passed the airtightness test obtained by the helium leak test. Furthermore, of the three drums that were confirmed to be discolored by the PT check, one had no discoloration, but leakage of the EPA-E composition occurred. This shows that the PT check was not able to completely prevent leakage of the EPA-E composition.

[0107] Furthermore, when a burr inspection was carried out on the drums from which the EPA-E composition had leaked, it was found that burrs were present in two of the three drums.

[0108] In addition, a burr inspection was conducted on the drums that did not leak, and it was confirmed that neither of the two drums had any burrs and passed the burr inspection.

[0109] (Limit Sample) For drums in which leakage of the EPA-E composition had occurred, the seam welded portion of the drum was disassembled during the PT check and cut out to serve as a limit sample. During the production of the drums, drums with small burrs were visually compared with this limit sample and deemed to have passed the burr inspection.

[0110] When this limit sample was measured, the burr size was 1.3 mm.
