Description

Vehicle drive device and vehicle equipped with the same

[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle drive device and a vehicle equipped with the same.

[0002] Conventionally, a drive device for a vehicle that integrates an inverter and a motor has been known. In such a drive device, for example, a cover-shaped tray (inverter tray) that houses the inverter is attached to a motor housing that houses the motor. During attachment, the space between the inverter tray and the motor housing is sealed with an adhesive liquid gasket or the like to ensure waterproofing.

[0003] In the market, when replacing an inverter, in a drive device in which the inverter and electric motor are integrated, it is necessary to remove the inverter from the drive device. However, if the inverter tray and the motor housing are sealed with a liquid gasket or the like, it may be difficult to remove the inverter from the drive device. In response to this, JP 7076102 B2 discloses the use of a photocurable silicone gel as a waterproof sealant for the gap between the case body of an automotive waterproof case and the lid attached to the case body.

[0004] In a drive device in which an inverter and a motor are integrated, if photocurable silicone is used as a sealant, the sealant can be easily peeled off, and the inverter can be easily removed from the drive device, as described in JP 7076102 B2. However, when photocurable silicone is used, dedicated equipment is required, which may increase costs.

[0005] The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and has an object to provide a vehicle drive device in which an inverter can be easily removed from the drive device while reducing costs, and a vehicle equipped with the same.

[0006] According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a vehicle drive device including an electric motor, an inverter disposed above the electric motor, and a case that houses the electric motor and the inverter. In this vehicle drive device, the case includes a motor housing with an open top that houses the electric motor, and a lid-like inverter tray that houses the inverter and is attached to the top opening of the motor housing, and the contact surface between the motor housing and the inverter tray is sealed with a liquid gasket. In addition, the inverter tray has a flange that extends outward from the contact surface with the motor housing, and the motor housing has a protrusion that extends outward near the contact surface with the inverter tray so as to face the flange.

[0007] Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram showing the main configuration of a vehicle drive device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of a contact portion between an inverter tray and a motor housing. Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view of a protrusion and the vicinity of the protrusion. Fig. 4 is a top perspective view of a case. Fig. 5 is a view showing the drive device mounted on a vehicle.

[0008] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0009] [Embodiment] Fig. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of a vehicle drive system (drive system) 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention, and is a cross-sectional view seen from the width direction of a vehicle on which the drive system 1 is installed. In this embodiment, the drive system 1 is an electric powertrain (ePT) installed in an electric vehicle (vehicle) 100 (see Fig. 5), and includes a generator (power generating motor) that is driven by an engine to generate electricity, and an electric motor (electric (drive) motor) that is driven by power from a battery to propel the electric vehicle 100. In other words, the electric vehicle 100 equipped with the drive system 1 is a so-called series hybrid vehicle.

[0010] As shown in Fig. 1, the drive device 1 includes a rotating electric machine 11, an inverter (power conversion device) 12 arranged on top of the rotating electric machine 11, and a case 13 that houses the rotating electric machine 11 and the inverter 12. The drive device 1 receives a supply of electric power from a battery (not shown) and drives an electric motor 11B of the rotating electric machine 11, thereby causing an electric vehicle 100 to run. Note that the left side in Fig. 1 is the front side of the electric vehicle 100, and the right side is the rear side of the electric vehicle 100.

[0011] The rotating electric machine 11 includes a generator 11A, an electric motor 11B, and a drive machine housing (motor housing) 13B that constitutes a part of a case 13 (described later). The generator 11A is a generator motor, e.g., a three-phase motor, that is driven by an engine (not shown) to generate electricity. The electric motor 11B is a drive motor (electric motor), e.g., a three-phase motor, that receives power from a battery (not shown) to rotate the drive wheels of the electric vehicle 100 via the axles. The electric motor 11B also rotates with the drive wheels when the electric vehicle 100 is decelerating, etc., and generates regenerative power. In other words, the electric motor 11B also functions as a generator. The motor housing 13B is open upward and further houses the generator 11A and the electric motor 11B inside.

[0012] The inverter 12 includes electrical components 121 such as a power module and a capacitor, and an inverter tray 13A that forms part of the case 13 (described later), and incorporates a high-voltage circuit. The inverter 12 is disposed on the rotating electric machine 11 in a state of being inclined downward toward the front of the electric vehicle 100. The inverter 12 is electrically connected to the rotating electric machine 11 (generator 11A, electric motor 11B), converts DC power output from the battery into AC power, and supplies the AC power to the electric motor 11B to drive the electric motor 11B. The inverter 12 also converts the AC power generated by the generator 11A and the regenerative power of the electric motor 11B into DC power and supplies the DC power to the battery, thereby charging the battery. The inverter tray 13A is configured like a lid that opens downward, and the electrical components 121 are disposed on the inner surface.

[0013] The case 13 is made of a metal such as aluminum, has a substantially rectangular shape, and is arranged so that one surface (front surface) faces forward of the vehicle 100. The case 13 houses the rotating electric machine 11 (generator 11A, electric motor 11B) and the inverter 12. The case 13 is composed of a lid-shaped inverter tray 13A on whose inner surface the electrical components 121 of the inverter 12 are arranged, and a motor housing 13B that opens upward and houses the rotating electric machine 11 (generator 11A, electric motor 11B). The tip of the outer edge of the inverter tray 13A and the tip of the outer edge of the motor housing 13B abut and are fixed together, so that the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B form a single case 13. Furthermore, the contact surface 131 between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B is sealed with a FIPG (Formed In Place Gasket), which is an adhesive liquid gasket, thereby improving the waterproofing of the case 13.

[0014] The case 13 has a chamfered portion 132 formed by chamfering a corner located at the front upper portion of the electric vehicle 100 (hereinafter simply referred to as the front upper portion) into a square surface.

[0015] As described above, the drive unit 1 is formed by integrating the inverter 12 and the rotating electric machine (electric motor) 11, and the contact surface 131 between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B is sealed with an adhesive liquid gasket.

[0016] Incidentally, when replacing an inverter in the market, in a drive device in which the inverter and electric motor are integrated, it is necessary to remove the inverter from the drive device. However, if an adhesive liquid gasket or the like is used to seal between the inverter tray and the motor housing for waterproofing, there is a risk that the inverter will be difficult to remove from the drive device. On the other hand, if a photocurable silicone gel is used as a sealing material, the inverter can be easily removed, but the material cost is more expensive than a liquid gasket such as FIPG, and dedicated irradiation equipment and electricity costs are required, which may increase costs. Therefore, it is preferable to remove the inverter without using a photocurable silicone or the like. Furthermore, because inverters are not removed frequently, it is preferable to be able to remove them without requiring dedicated equipment as much as possible.

[0017] Therefore, in this embodiment, at the contact surface 131 between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A, the inverter tray 13A is provided with a flange 133 extending outward, and the motor housing 13B is provided with a protrusion 134 extending outward so as to face the flange 133. As a result, by inserting a crowbar or the like into the gap between the flange 133 and the protrusion 134 facing the flange 133 and using the principle of leverage to lift up the inverter tray 13A, the liquid gasket (sealing material) between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B can be easily peeled off. In other words, the inverter 12 can be easily removed from the drive device 1 without using photocurable silicone or the like.

[0018] The structure of the case 13 will be described in detail below.

[0019] FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of the contact portion between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B.

[0020] As described above, the case 13 is composed of an inverter tray 13A that houses the inverter 12 and an upwardly opening motor housing 13B that houses the rotating electrical machine 11 (generator 11A, electric motor 11B). As shown in FIG. 2 , a flange 133 that extends outward is formed at the tip of the outer edge of the inverter tray 13A, and the flange 133 and the tip of the outer edge of the motor housing 13B abut against each other and are fastened together by bolts or the like. In this way, the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B constitute a single case 13. As described above, the abutting surfaces between the inverter tray 13A (flange 133) and the motor housing 13B are sealed by a liquid gasket called FIPG.

[0021] The motor housing 13B is provided with a protrusion 134 extending outward so as to face the flange 133 in the vicinity of the contact surface 131 with the inverter tray 13A.

[0022] One or more protrusions 134 are provided on each side of the motor housing 13B. Here, the case 13 is formed in a substantially rectangular shape and is positioned so that the front surface faces forward of the vehicle 100, and therefore the protrusions 134 are positioned at least on the front side, widthwise side, and rear side of the vehicle 100.

[0023] FIG. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view of the protrusion 134 and the vicinity thereof.

[0024] 3 , the protrusion 134 is provided to face the flange 133, and a gap 135 is formed between the protrusion 134 and the flange 133. As a result, when removing the inverter 12 from the drive device 1, a crowbar or the like can be inserted into the gap 135 and the inverter tray 13A can be lifted up using the principle of leverage, making it possible to easily peel off the liquid gasket (sealing material) between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B. In other words, the inverter 12 can be easily removed from the drive device 1.

[0025] 3, a triangular rib 136 is provided as a reinforcing rib at the bottom of the protrusion 134. This increases the rigidity of the protrusion 134. In this embodiment, the reinforcing rib is the triangular rib 136, but the present invention is not limited to this as long as it is a rib that increases the rigidity of the protrusion 134.

[0026] Although not shown, the case 13 includes a locating portion near the protrusion 134, which is composed of a locating pin and a locating hole. The locating portion positions the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A. Providing the locating portion near the protrusion 134 in this manner prevents misalignment between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A when removing the inverter 12 from the drive unit 1, facilitating the removal process. While it is generally preferable to provide two locating portions diagonally on the inverter tray 13A for balance, in this embodiment, as described above, the inverter 12 is inclined downward toward the front of the electric vehicle 100. Therefore, when attaching or detaching the inverter tray 13A to or from the drive unit 1, the inverter tray 13A is likely to be misaligned, which could cause the electrical components 121 mounted on the inner surface of the inverter tray 13A to interfere with the case 13 (motor housing 13B). Therefore, preferably, three or more locating portions are provided.

[0027] FIG. 4 is a top perspective view of the case 13.

[0028] As shown in Fig. 4, the case 13 is provided with a protector 14 so as to cover the protrusion 134. The protector 14 is made of a metal plate such as an iron plate, covers the protrusion 134, and is detachably fixed to the case 13 with bolts or the like (note that Figs. 1 to 3 are views showing a state in which the protector 14 has been removed). Note that Fig. 4 only shows the protector 14 covering the protrusion 134 on the front side and width direction side of the vehicle 100, but a protector 14 is also provided on the rear side of the vehicle 100 so as to cover the protrusion 134 on the rear side of the vehicle 100.

[0029] In this way, because the protector 14 made of a metal plate is provided on the outside of the protrusion 134, if a component of the vehicle 100 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a collision of the vehicle 100, the component first interferes with the protector 14. This reduces the collision energy, and the protector 14 that has interfered with the component then interferes with the protrusion 134, further reducing the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A. This prevents damage to the inverter tray 13A. Furthermore, as described above, the rigidity of the protrusion 134 is increased by the reinforcing rib 136, so that the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A can be absorbed by the highly rigid protrusion 134. Therefore, by providing the reinforcing rib 136 below the protrusion 134, damage to the inverter tray 13A can be further prevented.

[0030] In this embodiment, the protectors 14 on the front, widthwise, and rearward sides of the vehicle 100 are covered by the protectors 14, but this is not necessarily limited to this, and for example, only the protector 14 covering the protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle 100 may be provided. Even in this case, the protectors 14 and the protrusion 134 can prevent damage to the inverter tray 13A in the event of a head-on collision of the vehicle or the like, which causes the greatest impact energy to the inverter tray 13A.

[0031] FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the drive unit 1 mounted on an electric vehicle 100, and is a side view of the front side of the electric vehicle 100.

[0032] As shown in FIG. 5 , the drive unit 1 is disposed on the front side of the electric vehicle 100, a radiator 2 is disposed in front of the vehicle 100 relative to the drive unit 1, a side member 3 is disposed on the side of the vehicle 100 relative to the drive unit 1, and a brake booster 4 is disposed behind the vehicle 100 relative to the drive unit 1.

[0033] The radiator 2 includes an electric fan and a fan motor 21 that drives the fan. The fan motor 21 is disposed in front of a protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle 100. If the highly rigid fan motor 21 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the inverter tray 13A may be damaged. However, in the drive unit 1 of this embodiment, the motor housing 13B includes a protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle 100, and a protector 14 is provided to cover the protrusion 134. The case 13 (inverter tray 13A) also includes a chamfered portion 132 formed by chamfering a corner located on the upper front side of the vehicle 100. Therefore, during a vehicle collision or the like, the fan motor 21 first interferes with the protector 14, and the protector 14, having interfered with the protrusion 134, further interferes with the protrusion 134, the rigidity of which is enhanced by the reinforcing rib 136. Therefore, the protector 14 reduces the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A, and the collision energy can be received by the highly rigid protrusions 134. This prevents damage to the inverter tray 13A. Furthermore, the case 13 (inverter tray 13A) has chamfered corners on the upper front side of the vehicle 100, which prevents the fan motor 21 from interfering with the corners and causing a load to be applied locally. In other words, the collision energy of the fan motor 21 can be dispersed, further preventing damage to the inverter tray 13A.

[0034] The side member 3 is disposed on the side of the vehicle 100 relative to the drive unit 1 , that is, on the outside of the protrusion 134 disposed on the width direction side of the vehicle 100 .

[0035] The brake booster 4 is an electric booster and is disposed at the rear of the vehicle 100 relative to the drive unit 1, that is, behind the protrusion 134 on the rear side of the vehicle.

[0036] As described above, in the drive unit 1, the motor housing 13B has protrusions 134 on each of the front, widthwise, and rearward sides of the vehicle 100, and the protector 14 is provided to cover the protrusions 134. Therefore, when the side member 3 or the brake booster 4 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the side member 3 and the brake booster 4 first interfere with the protector 14, and then the protector 14, which has interfered with the side member 3 and the brake booster 4, interferes with the protrusions 134, the rigidity of which is enhanced by the reinforcing rib 136. Therefore, the protector 14 reduces the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A, and the collision energy can be further absorbed by the highly rigid protrusions 134. This prevents damage to the inverter tray 13A.

[0037] In this way, by positioning the fan motor 21 of the radiator 2, the side member 3, and the brake booster 4 respectively in front of the protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle 100, outside the protrusion 134 on the widthwise side, and behind the protrusion 134 on the rear side, it is possible to prevent damage to the inverter tray 13A in the event of a vehicle collision, etc.

[0038] According to the vehicle drive device 1 of the above-described embodiment and the vehicle 100 equipped with the vehicle drive device 1, the following effects can be obtained.

[0039] The vehicle drive system 1 includes a case 13 having a motor housing 13B with an open top that houses an electric motor 11, and a lid-shaped inverter tray 13A attached to the top opening of the motor housing 13B and housing an inverter 12. A contact surface 131 between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A is sealed with a liquid gasket. The inverter tray 13A has a flange 133 extending outward from the contact surface 131, and the motor housing 13B has a protrusion 134 extending outward near the contact surface 131 so as to face the flange 133. This allows the liquid gasket (sealing material) between the inverter tray 13A and the motor housing 13B to be easily removed by inserting a crowbar or the like into a gap 135 between the flange 133 and the protrusion 134 facing the flange 133, using the principle of leverage. In other words, the inverter 12 can be easily removed from the drive system 1 without using photocurable silicone or the like. Therefore, it is possible to provide a vehicle drive device 1 in which the inverter 12 can be easily removed from the drive device 1 while reducing costs.

[0040] The vehicle drive device 1 has a rectangular case 13, and at least one protrusion 134 is provided on each side of the motor housing 13B (case 13). This makes it possible to lift the inverter tray 13A from each direction using a crowbar or the like, using the principle of leverage, and peel off the liquid gasket (sealing material). In other words, the inverter 12 can be more easily removed from the drive device 1.

[0041] Furthermore, since the protrusions 134 are provided on each side of the case 13, even if components inside the vehicle 100 interfere with the inverter tray 13A from various directions during a vehicle collision or the like, the collision energy from the components can be absorbed by the protrusions 134. In other words, damage to the inverter tray 13A can be prevented.

[0042] In the vehicle drive device 1, the protrusions 134 are arranged at least on the front, widthwise, and rearward sides of the vehicle 100. This makes it possible to lift up the inverter tray 13A by levering it from the front, rear, left, and right directions of the vehicle 100 using a crowbar or the like, and peel off the liquid gasket (sealing material). In other words, the inverter 12 can be more easily removed from the drive device 1.

[0043] Furthermore, since the protrusions 134 are disposed on the front, widthwise, and rearward sides of the vehicle 100, even if components inside the vehicle 100 interfere with the inverter tray 13A from the front, rear, left, or right directions during a vehicle collision, the protrusions 134 can absorb the collision energy from the components, thereby preventing damage to the inverter tray 13A.

[0044] In the vehicle drive device 1, the case 13 has a locating portion that positions the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A near the protrusion 134. This prevents misalignment between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A when removing the inverter 12 from the drive device 1, making the removal work easier.

[0045] In the vehicle drive device 1, the sealing material that seals the contact surface 131 between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A is a formed-in-place gasket (FIPG). That is, the sealing material does not use a photocurable silicone gel, which is more expensive in material cost than a liquid gasket such as FIPG and requires dedicated irradiation equipment and electricity. Therefore, costs can be reduced.

[0046] In the vehicle drive device 1, a reinforcing rib 136 is provided below the protrusion 134 of the motor housing 13B. This increases the rigidity of the protrusion 134. Therefore, if a component inside the vehicle 100 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the interference will occur with the protrusion 134, the rigidity of which has been increased by the reinforcing rib 136. In other words, the impact energy of the interfering component can be absorbed by the highly rigid protrusion 134. This further prevents damage to the inverter tray 13A.

[0047] The vehicle drive device 1 includes a protector 14 made of a metal plate and provided on the case 13 so as to cover the protrusion 134. As a result, when a component of the vehicle 100 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a collision of the vehicle 100, the component first interferes with the protector 14. This reduces the collision energy. Furthermore, since the protector 14 that interferes with the component interferes with the protrusion 134, the collision energy with the inverter tray 13A can be received by the protrusion 134. Therefore, damage to the inverter tray 13A can be further prevented.

[0048] In the vehicle 100 equipped with the vehicle drive device 1, the fan motor 21 of the radiator 2 is disposed in front of the protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle. As a result, if the fan motor 21 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the fan motor 21 interferes with the protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle 100, thereby mitigating the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A. Therefore, damage to the inverter tray 13A is prevented.

[0049] In the vehicle 100 equipped with the vehicle drive device 1, the side members 3 are disposed on the outer sides of the protrusions 134 on the vehicle width direction sides. As a result, when the side members 3 interfere with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the side members 3 interfere with the protrusions 134 on the width direction sides of the vehicle 100, thereby mitigating the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A. Therefore, damage to the inverter tray 13A is prevented.

[0050] In the vehicle 100 equipped with the vehicle drive device 1, the brake booster 4 is disposed behind the protrusion 134 on the rear side of the vehicle. As a result, if the brake booster 4 interferes with the inverter tray 13A during a vehicle collision or the like, the brake booster 4 interferes with the protrusion 134 on the rear side of the vehicle 100, thereby mitigating the collision energy on the inverter tray 13A. Therefore, damage to the inverter tray 13A is prevented.

[0051] In this embodiment, the electric vehicle 100 equipped with the vehicle drive system 1 is a series hybrid vehicle, but the invention is not limited to this and may be another type of hybrid vehicle, an electric vehicle, etc. Furthermore, the vehicle drive system 1 may be equipped in a vehicle other than an electric vehicle.

[0052] In addition, in this embodiment, the rotating electric machine 11 housed in the case 13 is configured to include a generator 11A and an electric motor (electric motor) 11B, but this is not limited to this, and for example, the rotating electric machine 11 housed in the case 13 may be configured only by an electric motor (drive motor).

[0053] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the case 13 has a substantially rectangular shape, but this is not limiting, and the shape of the case 13 may be a polygon other than a rectangle, or may not be a polygon.

[0054] Furthermore, as in this embodiment, one or more protrusions 134 are provided on each side of the motor housing 13B, and preferably provided on each of the front, widthwise, and rear sides of the vehicle 100, but this is not necessarily limited to this. In other words, as long as at least one protrusion 134 is provided on the motor housing 13B, the effect of easily removing the inverter 12 from the drive device 1 can be obtained.

[0055] Furthermore, as in this embodiment, it is preferable to have a locating portion near the protrusion 134, but this is not necessarily limited to this, and it is not necessary to have a locating portion.

[0056] In addition, in this embodiment, the liquid gasket that seals the contact surface 131 between the motor housing 13B and the inverter tray 13A is an FIPG, but this is not limitative and other liquid gaskets may be used.

[0057] Furthermore, as in this embodiment, it is preferable that the case 13 includes the protector 14 that covers the protrusion 134 and the reinforcing rib 136 below the protrusion 134, but this is not necessarily limited to this, and the case 13 does not necessarily have to include the protector 14 and the reinforcing rib 136. Even in this case, as long as the motor housing 13B has the protrusion 134, at least the effect of making it possible to easily remove the inverter 12 from the drive device 1 can be obtained.

[0058] In addition, in this embodiment, the fan motor 21 of the radiator 2 is arranged in front of the protrusion 134 on the front side of the vehicle, the side member 3 is arranged outside the protrusion 134 on the vehicle width direction side, and the brake booster 4 is arranged behind the protrusion 134 on the rear side of the vehicle, but the arrangement of each component within the vehicle 100 is not limited to this.

[0059] In addition, in this embodiment, the case 13 has a chamfered portion 132 formed by chamfering a corner located at the upper front side of the electric vehicle 100 into a square surface, but this is not necessarily limited to this, and the case 13 does not necessarily have to have a chamfered portion 132.

[0060] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the above embodiments merely illustrate some of the application examples of the present invention, and it is not intended that the technical scope of the present invention be limited to the specific configurations of the above embodiments.
