Abstract

The invention relates to a wheel locking system for a bicycle with integrated mechanism to withstand breaking open by sawing machines or grinding machines. For this purpose the invention includes free rotating, wear-resistant devices to address theft attempts involving cutting, grinding, or sawing tools. The wheel locking mechanism is defined as a clamping device configured to be applied radially around a tyre and rim of a bicycle wheel. This clamping device features a built-in locking mechanism, sensor unit, electronic control unit, and alarm unit. The mechanica) clamping device comprises two or more parts connected by an integrated hinge. Each hinged part has a profiled recess on the mating surface, ensuring that, when closed, the cross-section of the tyre and rim is completely enclosed by both recesses. The locking mechanism secures the position of the two hinged parts in the closed state. The sensor unit detects the position of the locking mechanism and clamping parts in the closed state. The alarm unit generates an audible and visual alarm when sensor values are disturbed in an activated state, using an electric signal from the control unit. Additionally, The clamping mechanism is equipped with inserts featuring profiled ribs, allowing it to adapt to various tyre and rim sizes.
