Abstract
An invasive instrument with a tube having a control wire (325) designed to perform a predetermined function and manufactured from the tube by a material removal technique. The tube has a transition zone in which the control wire (325) has a tapered form and is separated from a first adjacent tube portion (327) by a first slot (331) and from a second adjacent tube portion (329) by a second slot (333), the second slot (329) being straight and oriented under an angle, 9, 9>0 degrees, relative to the longitudinal direction. The first slot (327) is straight and oriented under a same angle but with opposite sign, relative to the longitudinal direction, wherein sin(9) = W11 / II, W11 being equal to a slot width of both the first slot (331) and the second slot (333) in the manufactured state of the tube and II being equal to a slot length in the longitudinal direction of the invasive instrument in the manufactured state of the tube. The transition zone has a transition zone length, It, which is larger than the slot length, II. The control wire (325) can move in the longitudinal direction towards the first adjacent tube portion (327) and the second adjacent tube portion (329) along a predetermined longitudinal distance necessary to perform the predetermined function, the predetermined longitudinal distance being smaller than the slot length, ll.
